A 12oz Bag Is the Yardstick Eight Best Coffee Canisters Skip

Coffee is sold by weight: the bag on your counter says 12oz, 1 lb or 250 g. So the first question for any coffee canister is simple: will the bag fit? Of the ten listings below, only two answer in those terms. The Airscape says it in beans, “holds approx. 1 lb (500 g) of whole bean coffee”, and the Simple Modern says it in bags, “fits a standard 12oz bag of coffee”.

The other eight quote a size without saying what it measures. Yszaxnsr says 15oz and 1300ml in the same line, and 1300 millilitres is about 44 fluid ounces by our arithmetic, so the 15 cannot be a volume. The Veken sold as 16OZ even lists a taller, wider body than the Veken sold as 22OZ. And none of the ten publishes a test of how long beans stay fresh inside.

This guide checks each canister for seven things: capacity, how it seals, date tracker, scoop, material and light blocking, dishwasher claim and warranty. Star ratings and review counts were not captured for this roundup; popularity below is Amazon’s Best Sellers Rank only, as of 5 October 2026.

Best Sellers Ranks and specifications are taken from each manufacturer’s Amazon listing as displayed on 5 October 2026 through a United States connection, and may change. Capacity is copied exactly as each listing gives it. “Unit not defined” means the listing prints oz or OZ without saying whether it is a weight of beans or a fluid volume. Yszaxnsr gives 15oz and 1300ml in the same title; 1300ml is about 44 fluid ounces by our arithmetic, so the two figures cannot describe the same quantity. KIVY’s dimension fields read 1.0 inch on every axis, which cannot describe a canister, so they are left out. The Veken 16oz lists larger dimensions than the Veken 22oz on every axis; both are reported as listed. “Sold separately” for the Airscape scoop reflects a bullet that names it as a companion gift, not a box item. Ranks are overall Best Sellers Ranks as returned on 5 October 2026. Star ratings and review counts were not captured for any product here.

How We Chose These Ten

We researched current listings, compared manufacturer specifications and documentation, and read each listing’s claims about its seal, its size and its accessories line by line. We did not carry out hands-on testing, and nothing below is presented as measured performance data. Star ratings and review counts were not captured for this roundup. We used Amazon Best Sellers Rank, buy-box stock and listing specifications instead, and nothing on this page describes or implies how owners have scored these canisters.

  • Countertop coffee canisters only — every product here is a single lidded container sold for storing coffee beans or grounds. Multi-piece pantry sets, bag clips, vacuum-sealing machines and freezer bags were not in the running. One listing, the Oggi, is a general kitchen canister sold first and foremost for coffee.
  • New units only — every buy box here was a new product, in stock on amazon.com, on 5 October 2026.
  • Capacity recorded exactly as printed — ounces, fluid ounces, litres, millilitres, a bean weight or a bag size, in the words the listing uses. Where the unit is not defined we say so, rather than guessing whether the seller meant weight or volume. Any conversion on this page, such as millilitres to fluid ounces, is labelled as our arithmetic.
  • Seal type as described — a one-way CO2 valve, a vacuum plunger or push lid, a clamp lid, a locking lid or a powered pump, logged from the listing’s own words. We do not rank seals by how well they keep coffee, because no listing publishes evidence on that.
  • Accessories counted only when the box contents say so — a date tracker, a scoop or spare valves count only where the listing says they come with the canister. A scoop named as a companion gift, or a “hanging spoon design” without a stated spoon, is marked as such.
  • Material and light — stainless steel, ceramic-lined steel or plastic as stated, with any window, clear lid or light-blocking claim noted. None of the ten is a glass jar.
  • Care and warranty as stated — a dishwasher claim counts only if the listing makes one, and a warranty counts only where a term is given. Satisfaction promises are reported as written.
  • Popularity from Best Sellers Rank only — ranks are quoted exactly as returned on 5 October 2026, overall and in the category Amazon assigned. Amazon files these ten in three categories, one of them Cookie Jars.

The Ten Coffee Canisters in Detail

1. Planetary Design Airscape Stainless Steel Coffee Canister, Medium (AS2707) — Best Overall

Brushed copper-coloured cylindrical canister with a flat lid and a small lift handle on top

The one listing that tells you, in beans, how much coffee goes inside.

Key Specifications

Seal Patented inner lid that removes air (plunger)
Capacity Medium: approx. 1 lb (500 g) whole bean coffee
Other size named Small: approx. 1/2 lb (250 g)
Dimensions 5 in wide x 7 in high (Medium)
Date tracker Not stated
Scoop Named as a companion gift; not stated as included
Material Stainless steel; colour Brushed Copper
Dishwasher Not stated
Warranty Mentioned; terms not stated
Model AS2707
Best Sellers Rank #1,799 overall; #2 in Coffee Containers

Why We Recommend It

This is the only canister on the page whose size you can match to a bag of coffee without guessing. The fourth bullet reads: “Medium holds approx. 1 lb (500 g) of whole bean coffee [dimensions 5"w x 7"h]; Small holds approx. 1/2 lb (250 g) of whole bean coffee [dimensions 5"w x 4"h]”. That is a weight of beans, given in two units, against a body size. It is exactly the statement the other nine listings leave out. The size captured here is the Medium, model AS2707, so a standard 12oz bag goes in with room to spare and a full pound bag should just fit, on the listing’s own approximate figure.

The seal is a plunger, not a valve. “Airscape Patented Inner Lid REMOVES all air in the canister creating AIR-LESS dry goods storage”. You press an inner lid down onto the beans and the air underneath is pushed out past it, which the listing says you will hear: “The ‘swoosh’ sound lets you know it’s working.” The logic is different from the valve canisters below. A valve lets gas out of a fixed space; a plunger shrinks the space to fit what is left. As the bag empties, the inner lid simply sits lower. Whether that keeps beans fresher than a valve is not something the listing demonstrates, and “removes all air” is a claim rather than a measurement.

It does without the extras. There is no date tracker. A scoop is mentioned, but as a gift idea: “the Airscape and our Coffee Scoop make perfect birthday, wedding, housewarming… gifts”. Nothing says the scoop is in the box, so we mark it as not included. There is no dishwasher statement and no care instruction at all. If you want to write the roast date on something, a strip of tape on the lid does the job the date wheels below are sold for.

A warranty is named but not described. The first bullet promises “Our Quality, Durability and Warranty will Keep your Coffee Fresh Today, Fresh Tomorrow.” No term, length or coverage is given anywhere in the listing, so the warranty column reads not stated. That is still one more mention than six of the ten make. The listing also claims the design “has been the leading coffee storage for over 15 years”, which is a history claim we cannot check from the page.

Material and light. The body is stainless steel in a colour Amazon calls Brushed Copper, with no window, so the beans sit in the dark. The listing says it is “easy to stack for compact storage in the pantry”, and the Medium and Small share a 5-inch width. At a listed 1.0 pound, it weighs about the same as the Veken and Ohtomber steel canisters.

What to weigh. It ranks #1,799 overall and #2 in Coffee Containers, behind only the Veken 22oz, and is sold by Planetary Design itself. You trade the date wheel, the scoop and the window for the one capacity figure on the page that means what a coffee buyer needs it to mean, and a seal that adapts to a half-empty bag. For most buyers that is the right trade.

Pros

  • Only capacity stated as a bean weight: approx. 1 lb (500 g)
  • Plunger inner lid pushes air out as the level drops
  • Opaque stainless body, no window
  • Stackable with a matching Small size
  • #2 in Coffee Containers
  • Sold by the brand

Cons

  • No date tracker
  • Scoop not stated as included
  • Warranty mentioned without terms
  • No dishwasher or care instruction
  • “Removes all air” is a claim, not a test
  • Plunger adds a step each time you open it

Best for: A buyer who wants a pound of beans to fit, on the listing’s own figure, under a lid that follows the level down.

2. Veken Coffee Canister with Window, 22oz (CCA5V219) — Most Features

White stainless steel canister with a narrow vertical window, a date dial on the lid and a scoop hooked to the side

The most accessories on the page and the best rank, under an ounce figure it never defines.

Key Specifications

Seal One-way CO2 valve and silicone rubber seal
Capacity 22 oz (unit not defined)
Dimensions 7.48 in high x 5.31 in wide
Date tracker Yes, on the lid
Scoop Stainless steel scoop included, hangs on a hook
Window Yes, to see the bean level
Material 304 stainless steel; colour Jet White
Dishwasher Not stated
Warranty Not stated
Model CCA5V219
Best Sellers Rank #95 overall; #1 in Coffee Containers

Why We Recommend It

Amazon’s best seller in the category, by a long way. At #95 overall and #1 in Coffee Containers, this Veken outranks every other canister on the page by a factor of seven or more; the next best overall rank, its own 16oz sibling, is #732. On the listing, the reasons are easy to see. It carries the full kit: “a one-way CO2 valve and silicone rubber seal”, a date tracker on the lid, a window, a scale line and “a free stainless steel coffee scoop that attaches with a hook”.

The valve is the standard design for fresh roast. Freshly roasted beans give off carbon dioxide for days. A sealed jar with no outlet traps it; a one-way valve lets it out while, the listing says, “keeping air out and free of harmful oxidation”. That is the mechanism five of the ten canisters here rely on. Unlike a plunger, a valve does not shrink the space as you use the coffee, so a half-empty Veken holds half a canister of air above the beans. The listing does not address that, and its freshness language is a claim, not a test.

The 22 oz figure is never explained. The title says “22OZ”, the size field says “22 oz”, and a bullet says the canister has “the perfect size for storing beans”. None of them says whether 22 is ounces of beans or fluid ounces of space. If it is beans, a 12oz bag fills a bit over half of it. If it is volume, 22 fluid ounces is about 650 millilitres by our arithmetic, and whole beans that light take up a good deal of room for their weight, so a 12oz bag would be a tight fit. The listing leaves the buyer to find out on delivery.

The window is a trade-off. “A handy window lets you see how many beans are left without opening the canister”. That is convenient on a counter. It is also a gap in an otherwise opaque steel body, and light is one of the things a canister is meant to keep off beans. On a shelf away from a sunny window, it matters little. On a bright counter, the 16oz Veken, which has no window, is the steel-all-round version of the same design.

The outline is smaller than its smaller sibling’s. This 22oz listing gives 7.48 inches high and 5.31 inches across. The 16oz Veken lists 8.86 inches and 5.71 inches. The two listings carry different model fields, CCA5V219 here and a placeholder phrase on the 16oz, so they are not the same model, but one set of dimensions is not describing the canister you get. Measure your cupboard against the larger figure.

What to weigh. It is sold by Aborder Products, made of 304 stainless steel, and has no stated warranty and no dishwasher statement. No item weight is listed. If you want a valve, a date tracker and a scoop in one box from the best-ranked listing on the page, this is it; ask the seller what 22 oz means before you count on a full bag fitting.

Pros

  • Best rank here: #95 overall, #1 in Coffee Containers
  • One-way CO2 valve with silicone seal
  • Date tracker on the lid
  • Stainless steel scoop included, hangs on a hook
  • Window and scale line show the bean level
  • 304 stainless steel

Cons

  • 22 oz unit not defined
  • Window admits some light
  • Lists a smaller outline than the 16oz Veken
  • No warranty stated
  • No dishwasher statement
  • No item weight listed

Best for: A buyer who wants every accessory in one box and the best-selling listing on the page.

3. Simple Modern Delta Coffee Canister, 1.1L (CC-1L-ALBM-M) — Best Dishwasher-Safe

Light beige cylindrical canister with a rounded lid and a silicone base on a pale worktop

The only dishwasher claim on the page, and one of two listings to size itself against a real bag of coffee.

Key Specifications

Seal Auto Reseal vacuum, battery powered
Capacity 1.1L; fits a standard 12oz bag
Battery Up to 3 months; rechargeable, cord included
Dimensions 6.15 in high x 4.5 in wide
Date tracker Not stated
Scoop Not stated
Material Ceramic-lined stainless steel; silicone base
Dishwasher Vessel dishwasher safe; lid wipe clean
Warranty Not stated
Model CC-1L-ALBM-M
Best Sellers Rank #13,482 overall; #12 in Coffee Containers

Why We Recommend It

It tells you what fits. “Generous Capacity: 1.1L vessel fits a standard 12oz bag of coffee”. That gives you both halves of the answer: a volume, 1.1 litres, which is about 37 fluid ounces by our arithmetic, and a statement in the terms coffee is sold in. Along with the Airscape’s bean weight, it is one of only two capacity statements on the page you can act on without a conversion or a guess. It also lets you calibrate the rest: if 1.1 litres holds a 12oz bag, a canister whose 22 oz is a fluid volume would hold rather less.

The seal runs on a battery. “This canister features Auto Reseal Technology that automatically maintains the airtight, vacuum seal to minimize oxygen exposure and maximize freshness”. The lid carries a rechargeable battery: “Enjoy up to 3 months of uninterrupted performance with the long lasting battery that can be recharged as needed. Charging cord included.” It is the only powered canister here. The listing says “patent pending” and does not describe the pump, the level of vacuum or what happens when the battery runs flat, so we cannot say how it compares with a hand plunger or a valve. Maximised freshness is a claim.

It is the only listing with a dishwasher claim. “Vessel is dishwasher safe while the lid cleans easily with a quick wipe down”. That is a split instruction, and a sensible one for a lid with a battery in it, but it is still the only dishwasher statement among the ten. Oggi asks for a damp cloth; Yszaxnsr warns against hot washing; the other seven say nothing. Coffee oils build up on the inside of any canister, so being able to put the body through a dishwasher is a real convenience.

The lining is ceramic. “Ceramic-Lined Interior & Silicone Base for stability”. The outside is stainless steel and the beans touch ceramic, which the listing presents as an elevated feature without saying why; the usual reason is that a ceramic surface holds less residue and odour. The silicone base keeps it from sliding on a counter. The body is opaque, in a colour called Almond Birch, with no window.

No accessories. No date tracker, no scoop and no warranty are stated. At 4.5 inches across and 6.15 inches high it is the slimmest canister with a stated size, and it weighs a listed 0.98 pounds, battery lid included as far as the listing says.

What to weigh. It is sold by Amazon.com and ranks #13,482 overall and #12 in Coffee Containers. You get the clearest capacity statement after the Airscape’s, the only dishwasher-safe body, and a lid you have to charge. If charging a coffee canister sounds like one job too many, the Airscape does the air-removal by hand.

Pros

  • Only dishwasher claim on the page (vessel)
  • States it fits a standard 12oz bag
  • Battery auto-reseal vacuum, up to 3 months per charge
  • Ceramic-lined interior
  • Silicone base for stability
  • Sold by Amazon.com

Cons

  • Lid must be recharged
  • Lid is wipe-clean only
  • Vacuum level and pump not described
  • No date tracker or scoop
  • No warranty stated
  • Patent pending; behaviour on a flat battery not stated

Best for: A buyer who wants to put the canister body in the dishwasher and know a 12oz bag fits.

4. Oggi Stainless Steel Coffee Canister, 62 fl oz, Clamp Lid (6596) — Best Warranty Stated

Stainless steel canister with a clear domed lid held down by a metal locking clamp

The only listing that names its unit, the only stated warranty term, and a clear lid.

Key Specifications

Seal Silicone gasket with locking clamp
Capacity 62 fl oz
Dimensions Title: 5 x 7.5 in; spec fields: 7.75 x 7.75 x 5.0 in
Date tracker Not stated
Scoop Not stated
Lid Clear, BPA free
Material Food grade stainless steel
Care Wipe clean with a damp cloth
Warranty 90 days limited
Model 6596
Best Sellers Rank #2,028 overall; #23 in Food Jars & Canisters

Why We Recommend It

It is the one listing that says what its number measures. “62 fl oz” appears in the title and the size field, and the first bullet repeats “large 62 fluid ounces”. That is a volume, about 1.8 litres by our arithmetic, and the largest stated volume on the page. It does not tell you how many beans fit, but it is honest about being a volume, and against the Simple Modern’s 1.1 litres for a 12oz bag it suggests room for well over a 12oz bag, on our rough comparison of the two listings, not on any Oggi statement.

The seal is a clamp and a gasket, with no valve. “Clear lids enable you to see the coffee beans or grounds which are kept fresh and dry due to the silicone gaskets and locking clamps.” A clamp lid is the old way to make a jar airtight: a hinged wire or metal arm presses the lid onto a rubber ring. There is no outlet for carbon dioxide, which matters more for beans in the first days after roasting than for ground coffee or beans a week or two old. If you buy freshly roasted beans, a clamp canister can puff slightly as gas builds; the listing does not discuss it.

The lid is clear. The title calls it a “Clear See-Thru Top”, and the listing sells it as a feature. For coffee kept on a bright counter it is the opposite of what a canister is usually for: light reaches the top layer of beans every time the sun does. In a cupboard, it is harmless and handy. Of the ten, only this and the Veken 22oz with its window let you see in.

The size fields disagree. The title says “Large Size 5" x 7.5"”, and so does part of the size field. The dimension fields say 7.75 inches high, 7.75 inches long and 5.0 inches wide. A canister 5 inches across and 7.5 to 7.75 inches tall is consistent across both; the 7.75-inch length looks like the clamp or a packaging figure. Plan for about 7.75 inches of height and a little extra for the clamp to swing open.

The warranty is stated. The spec table gives “90 days limited”, the only warranty term among the ten. Ninety days is short, but every other listing here gives either no term or no warranty at all. Care is spelled out too: “wipe each stainless steel airtight container clean with a damp cloth between uses”, which reads as no dishwasher. No date tracker and no scoop are mentioned.

What to weigh. It is sold by Amazon.com, weighs a listed 0.84 pounds, and ranks #2,028 overall and #23 in Food Jars & Canisters; Amazon does not file it as a coffee container at all. Buy it for a large, honestly labelled volume and a written warranty, and keep it out of direct light.

Pros

  • Only listing to define its unit: 62 fl oz
  • Only stated warranty term: 90 days limited
  • Largest stated volume on the page
  • Clamp lid with silicone gasket
  • Sold by Amazon.com
  • Care instruction given

Cons

  • Clear lid admits light
  • No CO2 valve for fresh roast
  • Size fields disagree (5 x 7.5 in vs 7.75 in)
  • Wipe clean only
  • No date tracker or scoop
  • Bean capacity not stated

Best for: A buyer who wants a large canister with a defined volume and a stated warranty, kept in a cupboard.

5. Veken Coffee Canister, 16oz — Best Without a Window

Grey stainless steel canister with a date dial on the lid and a small scoop hooked to its side

The Veken kit in an all-steel body, with a listed outline larger than its 22oz sibling.

Key Specifications

Seal One-way CO2 valve and silicone rubber seal
Capacity 16 oz (unit not defined)
Dimensions 8.86 in high x 5.71 in wide
Listed weight About 1.07 lb (listed 1.0692 lb)
Date tracker Yes, on the lid
Scoop Stainless steel scoop included, hangs on a hook
Material 304 stainless steel; colour Gray
Dishwasher Not stated
Warranty Not stated
Model Not given (field reads “Coffee Canister, Airtight”)
Best Sellers Rank #732 overall; #1 in Cookie Jars

Why We Recommend It

Same brand, same seller, same pitch, no window. This 16oz Veken is sold by Aborder Products, like the 22oz, and its bullets follow the same five headings almost word for word: “Freshness is Everything”, a date tracker and free scoop, 304 stainless steel, size and scale line, and “Why purchase this product?”. It has the same “one-way CO2 valve and silicone rubber seal”, the same date tracker on the lid and the same “free stainless steel coffee scoop, which can be attached to the hook”. What it lacks is the window, so the body is steel all the way round.

Are the two Vekens the same model? Not on the evidence. The 22oz carries model and part number CCA5V219. This listing’s model and part number fields both read “Coffee Canister, Airtight”, which is a product description rather than a model number. The colours, sizes and window differ. They are best read as two products in one family, sold through one storefront, rather than one canister listed twice. The trouble is that their sizes do not line up.

The 16oz lists the bigger body. This listing gives 8.86 inches high and 5.71 inches across. The 22oz gives 7.48 inches and 5.31 inches. If both described the canister alone, the 16oz would be larger on every axis while claiming less capacity. One explanation is that one set of figures is a box size; another is that the ounce figures measure different things. The listings do not say, and the 22oz gives no weight to compare with this one’s 1.07 pounds. Measure your shelf for 8.86 inches to be safe.

The 16 oz figure is just as undefined. “Our coffee container has the perfect capacity to store coffee beans and the scale line will help you recognize when it is time to add more.” No weight of beans, no volume. If 16 is ounces of beans, a 12oz bag leaves room; if it is fluid ounces, about 470 millilitres by our arithmetic, a 12oz bag of whole beans may not fit. Ask the seller, or plan to keep the overflow in the bag.

Amazon files it as a cookie jar. It ranks #732 overall, the second-best rank on the page, and #1 in Cookie Jars, not in Coffee Containers. That is a categorisation quirk rather than a feature, but it does mean you may not find it browsing the coffee category.

What to weigh. No warranty and no dishwasher statement. If you like the Veken kit but want an opaque body, this is the version to pick; just pin down what 16 oz means first.

Pros

  • One-way CO2 valve with silicone seal
  • Date tracker on the lid
  • Stainless steel scoop included
  • All-steel body, no window
  • #732 overall, second-best rank here
  • 304 stainless steel

Cons

  • 16 oz unit not defined
  • Lists a larger outline than the 22oz Veken
  • No model number given
  • No warranty stated
  • No dishwasher statement

Best for: A buyer who wants the Veken valve, date tracker and scoop in a body with no window.

6. Ohtomber 22oz Stainless Steel Airtight Coffee Canister with Date Tracker (OH028A) — Best Spare Parts

Matte black stainless steel canister with a round date dial on the lid and a scoop hung on the side

Four spare valves and a light-shielding claim, in an outline the Kirecoo matches to the hundredth of an inch.

Key Specifications

Seal One-way venting valve, double silicone rings, locking design
Capacity 22 ounces (unit not defined)
Dimensions 7.24 in high x 4.96 in wide
Listed weight About 1.15 lb (listed 1.1508 lb)
Date tracker Yes, calendar dial on the lid
Scoop Yes, 30ml stainless steel, hangs on the side
Spare valves 4 included
Material Food grade 304 stainless steel; colour Black
Light “Good light and heat shielding effect” claimed
Dishwasher / warranty Not stated / Not stated
Best Sellers Rank #15,897 overall; #14 in Coffee Containers

Why We Recommend It

It is the only canister here, with its twin, that plans for the valve wearing out. “Package comes with 1pc coffee grounds container, 4pcs replacement valve and 1pc 30ml coffee spoon.” A one-way valve is a small rubber or silicone part, and it is the one piece of a valve canister most likely to stop working. Neither Veken nor Coffee Gator lists spares. Four in the box is a practical extra, and the 30ml scoop is the only scoop on the page with a stated size.

The seal has three parts. “Ohtomber coffee bean storage jar has a locking design and a one-way venting valve, which effectively prevents air from entering the canister and automatically releases CO2 and water vapour”, and “double silicone seals” on the lid. That is more description than most valve canisters give, though the effect on freshness is still a claim. The listing also calls it an “airtight vacuum coffee canister” in a later bullet. Nothing else in the listing describes a vacuum, so read that as a search phrase: this is a valve canister.

It claims to block light. “The coffee container has a good light and heat shielding effect, keeping freshness better.” Any opaque steel body blocks light, so this is a description of stainless steel rather than a special feature, but it is one of three listings on the page to make the point at all. There is no window.

The 22 ounces are undefined, again. The size field says “22 ounces” and the title says 22oz. At 4.96 inches across and 7.24 inches high, the outline is narrower and shorter than the Veken 22oz’s. Neither listing says whether 22 is beans or air.

Now compare it with the Kirecoo. Height 7.24 inches on both. Diameter 4.96 inches on both. Listed weights of 1.1508 and 1.1464 pounds. Both list “4 replacement venting valves” or “4pcs replacement valve”, a 30ml stainless scoop that hangs on the side, double BPA-free silicone rings, a “calendar date dial”, a claim of “light and heat shielding”, and the same list of other uses, from sugar and tea to nuts, cereals, spices, flour and snacks. The model numbers differ, OH028A and JMK057A, and so do the brands. On paper it is one canister sold twice. We cannot confirm that from listings alone, but nothing on either page separates them.

What to weigh. It ranks #15,897 overall and #14 in Coffee Containers, well ahead of the Kirecoo’s #37,593, and is sold by Ohtomber STORE. No warranty and no dishwasher statement. If you want a valve canister you can keep running with spare valves, this or its twin is the pick; choose between them on colour and stock.

Pros

  • 4 replacement valves included
  • 30ml scoop, the only scoop with a stated size
  • Date tracker dial on the lid
  • Double silicone rings and locking lid
  • Light and heat shielding claimed; no window
  • 304 stainless steel

Cons

  • 22 ounces unit not defined
  • “Vacuum” used loosely for a valve canister
  • No warranty stated
  • No dishwasher statement
  • Same outline and copy as the Kirecoo
  • Freshness claims untested

Best for: A buyer who wants a valve canister with spare valves in the box and a measured scoop.

7. Coffee Gator Coffee Canister, 11oz — Most Compact

Short grey stainless steel canister with a date wheel and a small valve on the lid

A valve and a date wheel in the smallest stated body on the page, and no model number.

Key Specifications

Seal “Freshness valves” to release CO2
Capacity 11oz (unit not defined)
Dimensions About 4.33 in high x 5.12 in wide (listed 4.3307 x 5.1181)
Date tracker Yes, calendar date wheel
Scoop Not stated
Material Stainless steel, zero-BPA
Dishwasher Not stated
Warranty “100% satisfaction promise”; no term
Model Not given (part number field reads “.”)
Best Sellers Rank #11,728 overall; #9 in Coffee Containers

Why We Recommend It

It is the smallest body with a stated size. At about 4.33 inches high and 5.12 inches across, the Coffee Gator is the only canister here shorter than it is wide. The title says “11oz”. If that is ounces of beans, a 12oz bag does not quite fit; if it is fluid ounces, about 325 millilitres by our arithmetic, a 12oz bag would need roughly twice the space. Either way this is a canister for a small bag, a few days’ coffee, or ground coffee for one.

The valve is described with confidence and no detail. “Coffee naturally emits harmful co2 which must be vented away. Our zero-BPA canisters have innovative freshness valves to release co2 but lock out oxygen.” Carbon dioxide from fresh roast is real; calling it harmful to coffee is the listing’s framing. The same bullet adds that ordinary “Airtight, sealed containers stop this and wreck coffee”, which is a strong claim against the clamp and plunger canisters on this page that the listing does not support with any evidence.

It has a date wheel and no scoop. “Log purchase or expiry date with the calendar date wheel, reduce waste and stop trashing precious coffee.” That makes five date trackers on the page, and this is the only one of the five valve canisters that does not mention a scoop. If you already have a scoop or weigh your dose, that is no loss; our coffee scale roundup covers the more accurate way to measure.

The listing is mostly tone. Bullets compare the canister to “a Kardashian” and call it a “military-grade vault”, neither of which is a specification. The material is stated only as stainless steel, without a grade. The model field reads “Canister” and the part number field contains a full stop, so there is no model number to check against other listings. Valve-and-date-wheel canisters of this shape are common, and without a model number there is no way to tell from the page how this one differs from others like it.

The guarantee is a promise, not a warranty. “Our 100% satisfaction promise means you can choose this coffee storage solution with confidence.” No length or terms are given. We list it as stated, and it is not a warranty term in the way the Oggi’s 90 days is.

What to weigh. It is sold by Coffee Gator and ranks #11,728 overall and #9 in Coffee Containers. No dishwasher statement and no item weight. Buy it for a small footprint with a valve and a date wheel, and plan to keep any overflow from a 12oz bag in the bag.

Pros

  • Smallest stated body, about 4.33 in tall
  • CO2 freshness valve
  • Calendar date wheel
  • Zero-BPA, stainless steel
  • Satisfaction promise stated
  • #9 in Coffee Containers

Cons

  • 11oz unit not defined; likely short of a 12oz bag
  • No scoop stated
  • No model or part number
  • Steel grade not stated
  • No warranty term or dishwasher statement
  • Copy is tone, not specification

Best for: A buyer with a small bag or limited counter space who wants a valve and a date wheel.

8. Yszaxnsr 15oz Coffee Canister, Airtight, 1300ml (XNSR95) — Only Plastic Pick

Dark brown translucent plastic canister with a locking lid and a small spoon resting against it

The only non-steel canister, with a light-blocking tint, a heat limit and two capacity figures that cannot both be true.

Key Specifications

Seal Locking lid, double-layer thickened sealing rings
Capacity 15oz (title) and 1300ml (title)
Dimensions 4.84 in diameter x 5.91 in high
Date tracker Not stated
Scoop “Hanging spoon design”; spoon not stated as included
Material Food grade AS plastic, BPA free
Light Dark brown light blocking design
Heat limit 80 °C stated
Care No high-temperature disinfection, drying or boiling water; warm water wash
Warranty Not stated
Best Sellers Rank #10,267 overall; #6 in Coffee Containers

Why We Recommend It

It is the only canister on the page that is not steel. “This coffee storage container is made of high food grade AS material, BPA free, safe, healthy, and non-toxic.” AS is a clear, rigid plastic. To keep light off the contents, it is tinted: “The coffee jar adopting a dark brown light blocking design to ensure that your stored items maintain maximum freshness.” It is one of three listings that make a light claim, and the only one where the material would otherwise let light straight through. Maximum freshness is the listing’s phrase.

Its two capacity figures contradict each other. The title reads “15oz Coffee Canister, Airtight Storage Container, 1300ml”. 1300 millilitres is about 44 fluid ounces, by our arithmetic. So the 15oz is not a fluid volume. It may be a weight of beans or ground coffee, which would put it a little above a 12oz bag; and 1300 millilitres is more volume than the Simple Modern’s 1.1 litres, which that listing says fits a 12oz bag. Read that way the two figures are roughly consistent, but the listing never says 15oz means beans, so we report both figures and the gap between them.

It has a stated heat limit, which matters for cleaning. “The coffee container is 80 °C. Do not put the coffee canister in a disinfection machine for high-temperature disinfection, drying, or hot washing with boiling water to avoid product deformation. Clean and drain with warm water, it can be used.” That rules out boiling water and, by any cautious reading, a hot dishwasher cycle. It is the most specific care instruction on the page and the only one that warns of damage.

The seal is a ring, not a valve. “This coffee canister uses double-layer thickened sealing rings, connect a fully sealed lid. When in use, it can be opened by a strong lock on the lid”. There is no valve, plunger or date tracker. The listing says long-term use “will not affect its airtightness at all”, a claim with no support given.

The spoon is ambiguous. “Adopting a hanging spoon design, stackable design, and wide mouth design”. The text describes a design for hanging a spoon, not a spoon in the box, so we mark the scoop as not stated. The wide mouth and stacking are useful for a pantry, and the listing suggests tea, sugar, flour, cereal and spices as other uses.

What to weigh. It is sold by smhengtuo, listed from July 2025, and ranks #10,267 overall and #6 in Coffee Containers. No warranty and no weight are stated. It is the pick if you want the one non-steel body on the page, with a stated light-blocking tint, and you are happy to wash it by hand in warm water.

Pros

  • Only non-steel option; BPA-free AS plastic
  • Dark brown light-blocking tint
  • Stated heat limit and clear care instructions
  • Double-layer sealing rings, locking lid
  • Wide mouth, stackable
  • #6 in Coffee Containers

Cons

  • 15oz and 1300ml cannot describe the same quantity
  • Limited to 80 °C; no hot washing
  • No valve, plunger or date tracker
  • Spoon not stated as included
  • No warranty stated
  • Airtightness claim unsupported

Best for: A buyer who wants a light plastic canister with a tinted body and will wash it by hand.

9. KIVY Vacuum Coffee Canister, Push Lid, Medium (EOS-WO11) — Push-Lid Vacuum

Black stainless steel canister with a large round push button set into the centre of the lid

A push-lid vacuum ranked #3 in the category, sold without a capacity or a usable dimension.

Key Specifications

Seal Vacuum, push lid
Capacity Not stated (size: Medium)
Dimensions Fields not credible (1.0 in on every axis)
Date tracker Not stated
Scoop Not stated
Material Premium stainless steel (grade not stated); colour Black
Dishwasher Not stated (“easy to clean”)
Warranty Not stated
Part number EOS-WO11
Best Sellers Rank #6,056 overall; #3 in Coffee Containers

Why We Recommend It

It is the only manual vacuum here besides the Airscape. The title says “Vacuum Coffee Canister – Push Lid Preserves Coffee Aroma & Oil”, and the fourth bullet adds that “The innovative airtight lid opens and seals effortlessly”. Push-lid vacuum canisters typically use a button or pump in the lid to draw air out of a fixed space; the listing does not describe the mechanism beyond that, so we cannot tell how much air it removes or how. What it promises is in its first bullet: “Keep your coffee beans and ground coffee fresh longer with this vacuum coffee canister compared to common coffee canisters.” No comparison is shown.

It does not say how much it holds. The size field says Medium. The model field also says Medium. There is no ounce figure, no litre figure, no bean weight and no bag size anywhere in the listing. It is the only canister of the ten with no capacity number at all.

It does not say how big it is, either. The height, length and width fields each read 1.0 inch. That cannot describe a coffee canister, so we leave it out. With no capacity and no usable dimensions, the listing gives you nothing to measure against a cupboard or a bag. Ask the seller for both before ordering.

The rest is adjectives. “Crafted from premium stainless steel, this coffee storage container withstands daily use.” No grade is given. “The stainless steel construction is easy to clean” is not a dishwasher claim. There is no date tracker, no scoop and no warranty, and the last bullet promises it is “guaranteed to impress within days”, which is not a guarantee of anything you could claim on.

And yet it ranks. It sits at #6,056 overall and #3 in Coffee Containers, behind only the two category leaders, the Veken 22oz and the Airscape. A push-lid vacuum is a simple idea, and it shows in the rank. It is sold by KIVY Inc., with part number EOS-WO11.

What to weigh. If you want a manual vacuum with a one-hand push lid and you can get the capacity from the seller, it is a candidate. If you want the same idea with the numbers written down, the Airscape gives you a bean weight and a body size.

Pros

  • Push-lid vacuum seal
  • #3 in Coffee Containers
  • Stainless steel body, black finish
  • One-hand opening described
  • Sold by the brand
  • No window; opaque body

Cons

  • No capacity figure at all
  • Dimension fields read 1.0 in, not usable
  • Vacuum mechanism not described
  • No date tracker or scoop
  • No warranty or dishwasher statement
  • Steel grade not stated

Best for: A buyer who wants a push-button vacuum lid and is willing to ask the seller for the size.

10. Kirecoo 22oz Airtight Stainless Steel Coffee Canister with Date Tracker (JMK057A) — Ohtomber Alternative

Beige stainless steel canister with a round date dial on the lid and a scoop hung on one side

The Ohtomber canister in all but name, colour and rank.

Key Specifications

Seal One-way venting valve, double BPA-free silicone rings
Capacity 22OZ (unit not defined)
Dimensions 7.24 in high x 4.96 in wide
Listed weight About 1.15 lb (listed 1.1464 lb)
Date tracker Yes, calendar date dial on the lid
Scoop Yes, 30ml stainless steel, hangs on the side
Spare valves 4 included
Material Food-grade 304 stainless steel; colour Beige
Light “Excellent light and heat shielding” claimed
Dishwasher / warranty Not stated / Not stated
Best Sellers Rank #37,593 overall; #48 in Coffee Containers

Why We Recommend It

Read it next to the Ohtomber and the two listings line up point by point. Kirecoo: “Crafted with a one-way venting valve and double BPA-free silicone sealing rings, this coffee canister effectively blocks air ingress and automatically releases CO2 and moisture from coffee beans.” Ohtomber: a one-way venting valve that “automatically releases CO2 and water vapour”, with “double silicone seals”. Kirecoo: “excellent light and heat shielding”. Ohtomber: “good light and heat shielding effect”. Both: a calendar date dial, a 30ml stainless scoop that hangs on the side, and four replacement valves.

The measurements match too. Both list 7.24 inches high and 4.96 inches across. The Kirecoo’s listed weight is 1.1464 pounds; the Ohtomber’s is 1.1508. Both say 22oz. Both suggest the same list of other uses, from sugar and tea to cereals, spices and flour. The brand differs and the manufacturer field here names JMK, with model JMK057A against the Ohtomber’s OH028A. Different model numbers do not rule out a shared factory design, and identical dimensions, weights to within a twentieth of a pound and the same box contents make that the likeliest reading. We cannot confirm it from the listings, so we call it a probable rebadge, not a proven one.

What that means for you. If the two are the same canister, the choice comes down to colour, stock and seller. This one is listed in Beige; the Ohtomber in Black. This one is sold by Kirecoo Direct. The Ohtomber ranks #15,897 overall; this one #37,593, the lowest on the page. Neither states a warranty or a dishwasher claim, so neither gives you a reason to prefer it on support.

The same caveats apply. The 22OZ figure is not defined as beans or volume. The steel is 304, the body opaque, the freshness language a claim: “It minimizes oxidation, locks in the mellow aroma and rich flavor of whole beans or ground coffee” is marketing copy, not a result. The final bullet calls the box “great value for money”, which is a sales line.

What to weigh. The spare valves and the measured scoop make it a well-equipped valve canister. Buy whichever of this and the Ohtomber is in the colour you want; they offer the same things on paper.

Pros

  • 4 replacement valves included
  • 30ml stainless scoop
  • Calendar date dial
  • Double silicone rings
  • 304 stainless steel, opaque body
  • Beige colour option

Cons

  • Lowest rank on the page: #37,593 overall
  • Probable rebadge of the Ohtomber
  • 22OZ unit not defined
  • No warranty stated
  • No dishwasher statement
  • Freshness claims untested

Best for: A buyer who wants the Ohtomber’s spare valves and scoop in a lighter colour.

Ten Capacity Claims, Four Kinds of Unit

Coffee is sold by weight and canisters are sized by volume, and the gap between the two is where most of these listings go quiet. Whole beans are light for their size: a 12oz bag takes up a good deal more than 12 fluid ounces of space. So a canister that says 22 oz could hold anywhere from a little over half a pound of beans to nearly a pound and a half, depending on which ounce it means. The table sets out exactly what each listing says. Conversions in the last column are our arithmetic.

Canister Capacity as printed What kind of unit Our conversion or note
Airscape Medium Approx. 1 lb (500 g) whole bean Weight of beans Fits a 12oz bag on the listing’s own figure
Simple Modern Delta 1.1L; fits a standard 12oz bag Volume plus bag fit About 37 fl oz
Oggi 6596 62 fl oz Fluid volume About 1.8 L
Yszaxnsr 15oz and 1300ml Undefined, plus volume 1300ml is about 44 fl oz, so 15oz is not a volume
Veken (window) 22 oz Undefined About 650 ml if fluid ounces
Ohtomber 22 ounces Undefined About 650 ml if fluid ounces
Kirecoo 22OZ Undefined About 650 ml if fluid ounces
Veken (no window) 16 oz Undefined About 470 ml if fluid ounces
Coffee Gator 11oz Undefined About 325 ml if fluid ounces
KIVY Medium None No figure to convert

Two listings answer the bag question. The Airscape gives a weight of beans in pounds and grams. The Simple Modern gives a volume and says a standard 12oz bag fits in it. Those two statements also help with the rest of the page: if 1.1 litres takes a 12oz bag, then any canister whose figure is a fluid volume well below 1.1 litres will struggle with one.

The undefined ounce is the norm. Five listings print an ounce figure with no unit attached: the two Vekens, the Ohtomber, the Kirecoo and the Coffee Gator. If those are bean weights, the 22oz canisters take a 12oz bag with room to spare, the 16oz Veken takes one comfortably and the Coffee Gator falls just short. If they are fluid ounces, the 22oz canisters hold about 650 millilitres by our arithmetic, a little over half the Simple Modern’s volume, and a 12oz bag would likely overflow. The listings give no way to tell which.

Outlines do not settle it. The obvious check would be to work the volume out from the dimensions. But the Veken 16oz lists a larger body than the Veken 22oz, the KIVY lists 1.0 inch on every axis and the Oggi gives two different sets of figures, so dimension fields here cannot be trusted to describe the canister alone. The honest answer is to ask the seller, or to buy one of the two listings that answer in beans.

A jar of coffee beans beside a cup of black coffee
As fluid ounces, a 22 oz canister holds about 650 ml by our arithmetic, short of a 12oz bag.

Seven Questions, Ten Listings

Capacity is one of seven things we counted. The table below sets out the others for every canister, exactly as listed. A dash means the listing does not mention it.

Canister Seal Date tracker Scoop in box Body and light Dishwasher Warranty
Airscape Plunger inner lid — Gift pairing only Stainless, opaque — Named, no terms
Veken 22oz CO2 valve Yes Yes 304 steel, window — —
Simple Modern Battery vacuum — — Ceramic-lined steel, opaque Vessel yes, lid wipe —
Oggi Clamp and gasket — — Steel, clear lid Damp cloth 90 days limited
Veken 16oz CO2 valve Yes Yes 304 steel, opaque — —
Ohtomber Valve, double rings Yes Yes, 30ml 304 steel, light shielding claimed — —
Coffee Gator CO2 valve Yes — Steel, opaque — Satisfaction promise
Yszaxnsr Locking lid, rings — Hanging design only AS plastic, tinted to block light No hot washing, 80 °C —
KIVY Push-lid vacuum — — Steel, opaque “Easy to clean” —
Kirecoo Valve, double rings Yes Yes, 30ml 304 steel, light shielding claimed — —

The valve and the date wheel travel together. Five canisters use a one-way CO2 valve, and all five have a date tracker. Four of those five also put a scoop in the box; the Coffee Gator is the exception. That cluster, valve plus date dial plus hanging scoop, is the standard template for this category, and it is the one that dominates on rank: the Veken 22oz at #95 overall and the Veken 16oz at #732 are both built to it.

The air-removers skip the extras. The three canisters that take air out rather than vent it, the Airscape plunger, the KIVY push lid and the Simple Modern battery lid, have no date tracker and no stated scoop between them. They are selling the seal, not the kit.

Nobody sells glass. All ten bodies are steel, ceramic-lined steel or tinted plastic. If you want to store coffee in glass, look at a general jar, and keep it in a cupboard; our glass food storage containers roundup covers lidded glass tubs, though none of them is designed around coffee. Two steel canisters let light in by design, through the Veken 22oz’s window and the Oggi’s clear lid. Three listings claim to block light: the tinted Yszaxnsr, and the Ohtomber and Kirecoo, whose claim is really a description of stainless steel.

Care and warranty are the thinnest columns. One dishwasher claim, the Simple Modern’s, and that covers the vessel only. Two care limits: the Oggi’s damp cloth and the Yszaxnsr’s 80 °C ceiling. One warranty term, the Oggi’s 90 days. The Airscape names a warranty without terms and the Coffee Gator offers a satisfaction promise. Six listings say nothing about either care or cover.

Valve, Plunger, Pump or Clamp: What Each Seal Claims

None of the ten listings measures how well its seal works, so this section explains what each design is supposed to do rather than which one works best. All freshness language quoted here is the sellers’.

The one-way valve (five canisters). Roasted beans release carbon dioxide, most heavily in the first days. A one-way valve lets that gas out without letting outside air in, so a sealed canister does not puff up and the gas has somewhere to go. Veken calls it a way of “keeping air out and free of harmful oxidation”. The limitation is that the space above the beans stays the same size as you use them, so a half-empty valve canister holds half a canister of whatever air went in when you last opened it.

The plunger (Airscape). An inner lid presses down onto the beans and pushes air out as it goes. The space shrinks with the coffee. The listing says it “REMOVES all air”, which is the claim, and that you will hear a swoosh as it works. The listing does not mention a valve or say how the design handles gas from very fresh roast.

The push-lid and battery vacuums (KIVY, Simple Modern). Both describe drawing air out of a fixed space. KIVY gives no detail of how. Simple Modern says its lid “automatically maintains the airtight, vacuum seal” on a rechargeable battery lasting up to 3 months. Neither states a vacuum level, so we cannot compare them with each other or with the plunger.

The clamp and the locking lid (Oggi, Yszaxnsr). A gasket pressed tight by a clamp or lock is the simplest airtight seal. It keeps outside air out and keeps gas in. For beans more than a few days past roasting, or for ground coffee, that difference matters little. For very fresh roast, a canister with no outlet can build up gas; neither listing mentions it.

What this means for buying. If you buy freshly roasted beans and finish them within a couple of weeks, a valve is the design built for the gas, and a plunger keeps the air space small. If you buy supermarket bags or ground coffee, any tight seal does the job, and capacity, light and cleaning matter more than the mechanism. If you grind fresh for each brew, our coffee grinder guide explains why that does more for flavour than any canister.

Two Pairs That Look Like One Product

Valve canisters with date wheels and hanging scoops are one of the most copied designs in kitchen storage, and identical products often appear under several brand names. We compared model numbers, dimensions, weights and listing copy across all ten. Two pairs stood out, for different reasons.

Field Ohtomber Kirecoo Veken 22oz Veken 16oz
Model OH028A JMK057A CCA5V219 Not given
Seller Ohtomber STORE Kirecoo Direct Aborder Products Aborder Products
Height 7.24 in 7.24 in 7.48 in 8.86 in

Capacity 22 ounces 22OZ 22 oz 16 oz
Spare valves 4 4 Not stated Not stated
Scoop 30ml, hangs on side 30ml, hangs on side Hook-on Hook-on
Window No No Yes No

Ohtomber and Kirecoo: probably one canister. Same height, same diameter, weights within a twentieth of a pound, the same box contents, the same light-shielding claim and the same list of other uses. Their model numbers differ, and the Kirecoo’s manufacturer field names JMK, but nothing in either listing describes a difference between the two products. We treat them as a probable rebadge. If one is out of stock or in the wrong colour, the other is the same buy on paper.

The two Vekens: one family, not one model. They share a brand, a seller and their bullet structure, and both have the valve, date tracker and hook-on scoop. But they differ in model field, colour, window and stated capacity, so they are two products. The puzzle is that the 16oz lists a bigger body than the 22oz on both height and width. Either one listing is giving a box size, or the two ounce figures measure different things. The listings do not say which.

Coffee Gator: unknowable. Its model field reads “Canister” and its part number is a full stop. With a valve, a date wheel and a steel body, it fits the template, but without a model number there is nothing to compare. That is not evidence of a rebadge; it is an absence of evidence either way.

Popularity does not follow the copy. The Ohtomber ranks #15,897 overall and the Kirecoo #37,593, more than twice as far down for what reads as the same canister. Rank reflects the listing’s history and visibility as much as the product, which is one more reason to read the spec rather than the position.

Best Alternatives

Alternative Why Consider It Better For Main Trade-Off
Keep beans in the roaster’s valve bag Many roasters already fit a one-way valve to the bag Small amounts used within two weeks Hard to reseal well once the zip wears
A glass jar in a dark cupboard Easy to clean and see into; often dishwasher safe Buyers who already store dry goods in glass Must live out of the light; no valve
A general airtight food container Shares a gasket seal with the clamp canisters here Ground coffee or older beans Not sized or shaped for a coffee bag
Buying smaller, more often Fresh beans need less protection if they are used fast Daily brewers near a good roaster More trips; less buying in bulk

The simplest alternative is to buy only what you will brew in a week or two. A canister protects what you have; it does not reverse time, and no listing here claims to measure how long beans keep. Pair that with a good grinder and a scale, and storage matters less. Our coffee scale roundup and gooseneck kettle guide cover the other two tools that change a cup more than any canister, and if you brew tea from the same counter, our tea infuser guide looks at infusers sized for loose leaf, which store well in any of the airtight canisters above.

What the Step Up Actually Buys

From a clamp jar to a valve canister you gain an outlet for carbon dioxide and, in this category, almost always a date wheel and a scoop. You keep a fixed air space above the beans. The Veken 22oz and 16oz, the Ohtomber, the Kirecoo and the Coffee Gator sit here.

From a valve canister to a manual vacuum you trade the extras for a seal that removes air rather than venting gas. The Airscape’s plunger also shrinks the space as you use the coffee. You lose the date wheel and usually the scoop, and you add a step every time you open it.

From a manual vacuum to a powered one you remove the step. The Simple Modern keeps its seal automatically, on a battery that the listing says lasts up to 3 months, and adds a ceramic lining and the page’s only dishwasher-safe body. You take on charging, and a lid with electronics in it that has to be wiped rather than washed.

From undefined ounces to a stated bean capacity you gain the one thing every buyer needs and most listings skip: knowing your bag fits. The Airscape and the Simple Modern are the only steps on this page that give it to you.

What to Check Before You Buy

Ask Whether the Ounces Are Beans or Volume

Five listings here print an ounce figure with no unit. A 22 oz canister holds a 12oz bag easily if that figure is beans, and probably not if it is fluid ounces. Only the Airscape, with approx. 1 lb (500 g), and the Simple Modern, which fits a standard 12oz bag, answer in terms of coffee. If the listing does not say, ask the seller before you order.

Match the Seal to How Fresh Your Beans Are

Very fresh roast gives off carbon dioxide, which a one-way valve is designed to let escape. Beans a couple of weeks old, supermarket bags and ground coffee give off little, and any tight seal will do. Five canisters here have valves, three remove air by plunger, push lid or pump, and two use a gasket and lock. Pick the mechanism for the coffee you actually buy.

Decide Whether You Need the Date Tracker

Five canisters have a date wheel or dial, all of them valve designs. A dial is handy if you rotate several bags, and less so if you finish one bag a week. A strip of tape and a pen does the same job on the Airscape, Simple Modern, Oggi, KIVY and Yszaxnsr, none of which has a tracker.

Check the Box Contents for a Scoop

Four canisters include a scoop: both Vekens, the Ohtomber and the Kirecoo, the last two at a stated 30ml. The Airscape names its scoop only as a companion gift, and the Yszaxnsr describes a hanging spoon design without saying a spoon is included. If you weigh your coffee, the scoop matters less than a scale.

Keep It Out of the Light

Eight bodies are opaque steel or tinted plastic. The Veken 22oz has a window and the Oggi a clear lid. On a sunny counter, choose an opaque one or keep the canister in a cupboard. A light-blocking claim on a steel canister describes the steel; on the Yszaxnsr it describes a tinted plastic.

Read the Care Line Before the Dishwasher

Only the Simple Modern says its vessel is dishwasher safe, and it asks you to wipe the lid. The Oggi asks for a damp cloth. The Yszaxnsr is rated to 80 °C and warns against boiling water and high-temperature drying. The other seven say nothing, so hand washing is the safe assumption, and a valve or plunger lid should be kept dry.

Look for a Warranty Term, Not a Promise

One listing gives a warranty term: the Oggi, 90 days limited. The Airscape names a warranty without terms, and the Coffee Gator offers a satisfaction promise with no length. The other seven say nothing. If cover matters, ask for the terms in writing before you buy, and keep the spare valves if your canister came with them.

Common Mistakes

  • Reading 22 oz as 22 ounces of beans. Five listings never define their ounce; as fluid ounces, 22 is about 650 ml by our arithmetic, short of a 12oz bag.
  • Assuming a smaller number means a smaller can. The Veken 16oz lists 8.86 in tall; the Veken 22oz lists 7.48 in.
  • Trusting both figures in one title. The Yszaxnsr says 15oz and 1300ml; 1300ml is about 44 fl oz by our arithmetic, so they measure different things.
  • Treating a freshness claim as a test result. None of the ten publishes a measurement of how long beans stay fresh inside.
  • Putting the whole canister in the dishwasher. Only one listing claims dishwasher safety, and only for the vessel; the Yszaxnsr is rated to 80 °C.
  • Paying twice for the same canister. The Ohtomber and Kirecoo share 7.24 x 4.96 in, four spare valves and a 30ml scoop.
  • Leaving a window or clear lid in the sun. Two of the ten let light in by design: the Veken 22oz window and the Oggi lid.
  • Reading “Warranty” as a warranty term. Only the Oggi states one, 90 days limited; the Airscape names a warranty with no terms.

Who Should Buy Which

Buy the Airscape Medium if you want to know a pound of beans fits. It is the only listing that states capacity as a weight of beans, approx. 1 lb (500 g), and its plunger lid follows the coffee down. Accept no date tracker, no stated scoop and a warranty named without terms.

Buy the Veken 22oz if you want every accessory and the best-selling listing. Valve, date tracker, scoop and a window, at #95 overall. Ask what 22 oz means first, and keep it out of direct sun.

Buy the Simple Modern Delta if you want a dishwasher-safe body and a bag that fits. The only dishwasher claim on the page, a stated fit for a 12oz bag and a self-maintaining vacuum. Accept charging the lid.

Buy the Oggi if you want a large, honestly labelled canister with a written warranty. 62 fl oz, clamp lid, 90 days limited. Keep it in a cupboard, because the lid is clear and there is no valve.

Buy the Veken 16oz if you like the Veken kit without a window. Same valve, date tracker and scoop in an all-steel body. Measure for its 8.86-inch height and ask what 16 oz means.

Buy the Ohtomber if you want spare valves and a measured scoop. Four valves, a 30ml scoop and a date dial in black 304 steel, ranked well ahead of its twin.

Buy the Coffee Gator if counter space is tight. The smallest stated body, about 4.33 inches tall, with a valve and date wheel. Expect a 12oz bag to overflow it.

Buy the Yszaxnsr if you want light plastic and will wash by hand. Tinted AS plastic, double sealing rings, an 80 °C limit. Accept two capacity figures that disagree.

Buy the KIVY only after the seller tells you its size. A push-lid vacuum ranked #3 in Coffee Containers, with no capacity and no usable dimensions on the listing.

Buy the Kirecoo if you want the Ohtomber in beige. Same outline, same spare valves, same scoop on paper. Pick it for colour or stock.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best coffee canister?

For most buyers, the Planetary Design Airscape in the Medium size. It is the only one of the ten listings here that states its capacity as a weight of beans, approx. 1 lb (500 g) of whole bean coffee, so you know before you buy that a standard 12oz bag fits with room to spare. Its patented inner lid works as a plunger, pressing down onto the beans and pushing air out, and the space shrinks as you use the coffee. The body is opaque stainless steel. It ranks #2 in Coffee Containers. It has no date tracker, the scoop is mentioned only as a gift pairing, and the warranty it names comes with no stated terms. If you want a valve, a date tracker and a scoop in one box, the Veken 22oz is the best-ranked listing on the page, but it never says what its 22 oz measures.

What is the best airtight coffee container?

Every canister here claims to be airtight, and none publishes a test, so the useful question is which seal suits your coffee. If you buy freshly roasted beans, choose a design that lets carbon dioxide escape: the one-way valve canisters, such as the Veken 22oz, Veken 16oz, Ohtomber, Kirecoo and Coffee Gator, or consider the Airscape plunger, which removes air as you press it down; its listing does not address roast gas. If you buy supermarket bags or ground coffee, a gasket and clamp like the Oggi’s is a simple airtight seal and comes with the only stated warranty term on the page, 90 days limited. The Yszaxnsr uses double sealing rings and a locking lid in tinted plastic. Whatever you choose, airtight describes the lid when closed; how much air you trap each time you open it depends on how full the canister is.

What is the best vacuum coffee canister?

Three canisters here remove air rather than vent it. The Airscape uses a hand plunger, an inner lid that pushes air out as you press it onto the beans, and it is the only one of the three to state its capacity, approx. 1 lb (500 g) of beans in the Medium. The Simple Modern Delta uses a rechargeable battery lid that it says automatically maintains the vacuum, for up to 3 months per charge, and its vessel is the only dishwasher-safe body on the page. The KIVY uses a push lid and ranks #3 in Coffee Containers, but its listing gives no capacity and no usable dimensions. None of the three states a vacuum level. Note that the Ohtomber listing also calls itself a vacuum canister, but everything else in its description is a one-way valve design.

What is the best coffee storage container for whole beans?

For whole beans, capacity and gas matter most. Beans take up a lot of space for their weight, so a canister needs to say how many beans fit, and only two here do: the Airscape, approx. 1 lb (500 g) in the Medium, and the Simple Modern, whose 1.1L vessel fits a standard 12oz bag. Fresh whole beans also release carbon dioxide, which the five valve canisters are designed to let out; the Airscape plunger instead removes air from the space above the beans. Light matters too, so prefer an opaque body; the Veken 22oz has a window and the Oggi a clear lid. If you buy whole beans because you grind fresh, the grinder will do more for the cup than the canister, but a canister sized to your bag and kept away from heat and sunlight is the sensible partner.

How much coffee does a 22 oz canister hold?

It depends on which ounce the listing means, and the four 22-ounce listings here do not say. If 22 oz is a weight of beans, the canister holds nearly a pound and a half of coffee, so a 12oz bag fits with plenty of space. If it is a fluid volume, 22 fluid ounces is about 650 millilitres by our arithmetic, a little over half the 1.1 litres that Simple Modern says fits a 12oz bag, so a full bag would probably not go in. The outlines do not settle it: the Ohtomber and Kirecoo list 7.24 by 4.96 inches, the Veken 22oz lists 7.48 by 5.31, and the Veken 16oz lists a larger body than any of them. Ask the seller whether the figure means beans or volume before you buy.

Do coffee canisters with a CO2 valve keep coffee fresher?

The listings say so, and none of them shows evidence. What a one-way valve does is mechanical: it lets carbon dioxide from freshly roasted beans escape without letting outside air in, so a sealed canister does not build up gas. That is useful for beans in the first days after roasting, when they release the most. A valve does not remove the air already in the canister, and as you use the coffee the air space above the beans grows. A plunger like the Airscape’s shrinks that space instead. Five canisters here have valves: the two Vekens, the Coffee Gator, the Ohtomber and the Kirecoo, and the last two include four replacement valves. Treat every freshness promise on these listings as marketing, and buy amounts you will use in a couple of weeks.

Are coffee canisters dishwasher safe?

Only one listing here says so, and only in part. The Simple Modern Delta says its vessel is dishwasher safe while the battery lid should be wiped clean. The Oggi asks you to wipe its steel body with a damp cloth. The Yszaxnsr, the only plastic canister, says it is rated to 80 °C and warns against high-temperature disinfection, drying and boiling water. The other seven listings make no statement at all. Without a claim, the safe course is to hand wash the body in warm soapy water and to keep valves, date dials and plunger lids out of the dishwasher entirely, since heat and detergent can harm silicone parts and printed dials. Dry the canister completely before refilling it, because moisture is as unwelcome as air.

Is the Kirecoo coffee canister the same as the Ohtomber?

On paper they are very close to identical, and we treat them as a probable rebadge, though listings alone cannot prove it. Both list 7.24 inches high and 4.96 inches across, and their listed weights are 1.1508 and 1.1464 pounds. Both describe a one-way venting valve, double silicone rings, a calendar date dial, a 30ml stainless scoop that hangs on the side and four replacement valves in the box. Both claim light and heat shielding and suggest the same list of other uses. Their model numbers differ, OH028A and JMK057A, and so do their brands and colours, black and beige here. The Ohtomber ranks #15,897 overall and the Kirecoo #37,593. If one is unavailable or the wrong colour, the other offers the same features on its listing.

Final Verdict

Best OverallPlanetary Design Airscape, Medium

The only capacity stated in beans, approx. 1 lb (500 g), under a plunger lid that pushes air out as the level falls.

Most FeaturesVeken 22oz Coffee Canister with Window

Valve, date tracker, scoop and window in 304 steel, at #95 overall; ask what its 22 oz measures.

Best Dishwasher-SafeSimple Modern Delta 1.1L

The only dishwasher claim on the page, a stated fit for a 12oz bag and a rechargeable auto-reseal lid.

Coffee is sold by weight, and eight of these ten canisters will not tell you how many beans they hold. Five print an ounce figure without saying whether it is beans or air, one prints two figures that disagree, one gives fluid ounces and one gives only the word Medium. The Airscape and the Simple Modern are the only listings that answer the question every buyer starts with: will my bag fit?

The features cluster, and the claims stay claims. Five canisters use a one-way valve and all five add a date wheel; four add a scoop. The three that remove air instead skip the extras. One listing makes a dishwasher claim, one gives a warranty term, and none publishes a test of how long coffee stays fresh inside. Two of the ten share an outline and box contents so closely that they read as one product.

So buy a coffee canister by its capacity statement first. Match the seal to how fresh your beans are, keep the body out of the light, and read the care line before you load the dishwasher. Where the ounce is undefined, ask the seller what it measures.

If you buy one canister from this page, make it the Airscape Medium: the only listing that states its size in beans, approx. 1 lb (500 g), with a plunger that pushes the air out and follows the coffee down. If you want the valve, date tracker and scoop in one box, the Veken 22oz is the best-ranked listing here; if you want a body you can put in the dishwasher, the Simple Modern Delta is the only one that says you can.
