Five Best Countertop Dishwasher Bodies Rise Past an 18-Inch Gap

A countertop dishwasher has to live in the space between your worktop and your wall cupboards, and in many kitchens that gap is about 18 inches. That is a working figure, not a listing number, so measure yours. Then line the ten listings up by height: five give a body height above 18 inches in their own spec tables, from 18.03 inches on the original EUHOMY to 18.44 on the Midea tank model.

Four go further and ask for more room than that. Both EUHOMYs want more than 19 inches of clearance, the COMFEE’ Portable Mini more than 19.6 and the Midea more than 20.8. The three that clear 18 inches comfortably, with no caveat, are the three faucet models without a tank, and they are the only three that claim Energy Star.

So this guide sorts the ten by height against that 18-inch gap, then sets out hookup and tank size, place settings, programmes, noise, drying, Energy Star, dimensions and warranty. Star ratings and review counts were not captured for this roundup; popularity below is Amazon’s Best Sellers Rank only.

Best Sellers Ranks and specifications are taken from each manufacturer’s Amazon listing as displayed on 5 October 2026 through a United States connection, and may change. Heights are the spec-table figure unless noted. The 18-inch gap is a common figure for the space under wall cupboards, not a listing figure; measure your own. Place settings are shown only where a listing states a count; the item counts in brackets are the sellers’ own and are not comparable with place settings. The 8-programme EUHOMY gives different outer dimensions in its bullet and its spec table, and Amazon ranks it in Portable Dishwashers rather than Countertop Dishwashers. Overall ranks run from #25 (EUHOMY DW001-5) to #2,276 (SPT).

How We Chose These Ten

We researched current listings, compared manufacturer specifications and documentation, and read each listing’s claims about its water supply, size, programmes, drying and warranty line by line. We did not carry out hands-on testing, and nothing below is presented as measured performance data. Star ratings and review counts were not captured for this roundup. We used Amazon Best Sellers Rank, buy-box stock and listing specifications instead, and nothing on this page describes or implies how owners have scored these machines.

  • Countertop dishwashers only — every product is a plug-in dishwasher sized to sit on a worktop or table. Built-in 18-inch and 24-inch models, drawer dishwashers and rolling portable units were not in the running.
  • Height read against an 18-inch gap — 18 inches is a common figure for the space between a worktop and the wall cupboards above it. It is a typical figure we use as a yardstick, not a listing claim. Where a listing states its own clearance, we quote it.
  • Hookup type recorded exactly — built-in tank, faucet connection or both, the tank size where stated, and whether the listing says a faucet adaptor is included, needed or sold separately.
  • Place settings only where stated — most listings give an item count such as “30+ items” instead. We report both as printed and do not convert one into the other.
  • Noise, drying and Energy Star as claimed — a dB figure only where a listing prints one; hot-air drying only where a listing says hot air or gives a heated drying temperature; Energy Star only where the listing names it. ETL and DOE certification are reported separately and are not the same thing.
  • One design, one place — we set the model and part numbers, outer dimensions, programme lists and listed weights side by side to spot machines that share a platform. Where two listings appeared to be the same model under different badges, we kept one and replaced the other. Shared numbers are evidence, not proof, and we say which is which.
  • Conflicts reported, not resolved — where two fields on one listing disagree, as the 8-programme EUHOMY’s dimensions do, we print both.
  • Verified stock and seller — each product was the buy-box offer and in stock on amazon.com on 5 October 2026. The BEADSTER, SPT, BLACK+DECKER and Midea were flagged as scarce stock at capture.

Bodies here run from 17.2 to 18.44 inches tall; the gap under your cupboards decides more than the spec sheet.

The Ten Countertop Dishwashers in Detail

1. COMFEE’ Countertop Dishwasher, 6 Place Settings, 8 Programs, CDC22P1BBB — Best Overall

Energy Star Yes, stated

Model CDC22P1BBB (made by Midea)
Best Sellers Rank #55 overall; #2 in Countertop Dishwashers
Best For Two or three people with a faucet that takes an adaptor and room for a wide box

Why We Recommend It

This is the countertop dishwasher that fits under the wall cupboards with the most room to spare and still states a real place-setting count. The first bullet gives the box as “H17.2″×W21.7″×D19.7″” and the capacity as “6 Place Setting”, “up to 70 pieces of tableware and plates up to 10 inches in diameter”. At 17.2 inches it ties the BLACK+DECKER as the shortest body here, about 0.8 inches under an 18-inch gap by our arithmetic. No tank model on the page states six place settings; the only tank model with a count at all, the HAVA, states four.

It has no tank, so it lives on a faucet. “This COMFEE’ portable dishwasher can be connected to faucet directly (Suitable adaptor needed).” That bracket matters. The listing does not say the adaptor is in the box, so plan to buy one that matches your tap. A pull-down or pull-out spray head often has no threaded aerator to fit an adaptor to, which is worth checking before you buy; our kitchen faucet with sprayer guide covers what sits at the end of the spout. If the reason you want a countertop dishwasher is that you cannot or will not touch the faucet, this is the wrong machine and the tank models further down are the right ones.

It is one of only three Energy Star claims on the page. “This Energy Star dishwasher is designed for maximum resource savings, using as little as 2.77 gallons of water per cycle.” That is about 10.5 litres, by our arithmetic, roughly twice the single 5-litre fill most tank models run on. It is not a like-for-like comparison: a six-setting load is bigger, and “as little as” describes the thriftiest cycle. But it is a reminder that Energy Star is a rating against a standard for the machine’s class, not a promise that it uses the least water on the page.

The programme list is the longest of the faucet machines. Eight in the title, and the bullet names Heavy, Normal, Baby-Care, ECO, Glass and Speed, then “Three more cleaning options, including Speed, Mini-party, and Rinse”. Speed is named twice, so the distinct list comes to eight. Heavy uses “12 washing nozzles and a 360° spiral spray” at “temperatures up to 154°F”, and Speed “cleans dishes in just 45 minutes”. 154°F is the lowest stated wash temperature on the page; the tank models that state one claim 162 to 167°F.

The footprint is the price of the short body. 21.7 by 19.7 inches is about 427 square inches of worktop, by our arithmetic, against about 282 for the 16.8-inch-square tank models. The listed weight is 46.0 pounds. The listing also says it can be “seamlessly fitted into a cupboard”, which is the other way to use a box this shape if worktop is short. Noise is not stated anywhere on the listing, and neither is how the drying works, only that six programmes are “helped with extra-drying function”.

Its body matches the SPT almost exactly. The SPT SD-2224DS lists 21.65 by 19.69 by 17.24 inches against this machine’s 21.7 by 19.7 by 17.2, and both menus include Mini-party, Rinse and Speed. The model numbers, CDC22P1BBB and SD-2224DS, are unrelated, and the makers named are Midea and Sunpentown. Read the two as likely relatives on one common six-setting body rather than the same model; the COMFEE’ states its settings, water use and wash temperature, and the SPT does not.

Pros

  • Six place settings stated, with 70 pieces and 10-inch plates
  • Shortest body on the page at 17.2 inches, tied with the BLACK+DECKER
  • Energy Star stated, one of three on the page
  • Eight programmes, the longest menu of the faucet machines
  • Sold by Amazon.com and ranked #2 in Countertop Dishwashers
  • Listing says it can also be fitted into a cupboard

Cons

  • No tank: needs a faucet, and the adaptor is “needed”, not stated as included
  • About 427 square inches of worktop by our arithmetic
  • Noise not stated
  • Drying method not described
  • Lowest stated wash temperature here, 154°F

Best for: Two or three people with a threaded faucet and a wide stretch of worktop under low wall cupboards.

2. BLACK+DECKER Countertop Dishwasher, Energy Star, BCD6W — Best Stainless Interior

White compact countertop dishwasher with a black control strip and a recessed door handle

A 17.2-inch, six-setting, Energy Star box with a stainless interior and a quick-connect faucet hookup.

Key Specifications

Water supply Faucet via “Quick Connect assembly”; no tank stated
Place settings 6
Programmes 7: Normal, Intensive, Eco, Glass, 90 Minutes, Rapid, Soak
Stated noise Not stated
Drying Not stated
Energy Star Yes, stated in title
Outer size 21.5 x 21.7 x 17.2 in
Height vs an 18 in gap 17.2 in; 0.8 in under (our arithmetic)
Warranty 1 year parts & labor
Model BCD6W (made by W Appliance Company)
Best Sellers Rank #610 overall; #10 in Countertop Dishwashers
Best For A deep worktop and a stated parts-and-labour warranty

Why We Recommend It

The BLACK+DECKER ties for the shortest body on the page and states the same six place settings as the COMFEE’. “This dishwasher portable ensures you can fit up to 6 place settings at one time.” The size is given as “21.5” x 21.7” x 17.2””, and the spec table puts the 17.2 inches on height. That leaves about 0.8 inches under an 18-inch gap, by our arithmetic. This is a front-loading box fed from the faucet, so there is no tank lid to open and no clearance caveat on the listing.

The hookup is a quick-connect to the faucet. “Hook up your must-have white dishwasher with a seamless Quick Connect assembly, hooking right up to the faucet. No need for direct plumbing or permanent installation.” The listing does not say whether the assembly suits every tap or what thread it uses, so check your aerator before ordering. It also says you “connect when you need clean dishes and disconnect when not in use”, which is the honest picture of every faucet-fed countertop machine: the sink is out of action while it runs.

It is the deepest box here. 21.5 inches of depth is more than any other listing states, and with 21.7 inches of width the footprint is about 467 square inches by our arithmetic, the largest on the page. On a worktop of typical depth there is little left in front of it. The listed weight is 46.2 pounds, and the bullet says it “fits on top of many countertops (46.2 lbs.) and stores conveniently in cupboards, pantries and kitchen shelves”. At that weight, storing it away between uses is a two-handed job.

The cycle list is practical rather than long. Seven: “Normal, Intensive, Eco, Glass, 90 Minutes, Rapid & Soak.” There is an LED display that shows remaining time and delay start, and a child lock. What is missing is everything about heat and drying: no wash temperature, no drying method, no noise figure. Energy Star is in the title, and the interior is stated as stainless steel, the only listing here that says so.

The warranty wording is one of the two clearest on the page. “1 year parts & labor”, against plain “1 year” on most of the others; only the SPT words its term the same way. The manufacturer field names W Appliance Company rather than BLACK+DECKER, which is common for licensed appliances. Its 17.2-inch height and 21.7-inch width match the COMFEE’ 6 Place Setting, and its Soak and Rapid cycles echo the SPT’s Soak and Speed, but the 21.5-inch depth sets it apart from both, so we treat it as a cousin of that body rather than the same machine.

It sits in the middle of the faucet trio on rank. #610 overall and #10 in Countertop Dishwashers, against #55 for the COMFEE’ and #2,276 for the SPT, and it was scarce stock at capture. The COMFEE’ offers one more programme in a shallower box; the BLACK+DECKER is the one to pick if you want the stainless interior and a stated place-setting count with parts-and-labour wording.

Pros

  • Six place settings and Energy Star stated
  • Shortest body here at 17.2 inches, tied with the COMFEE’
  • Stainless steel interior stated, the only one on the page
  • Warranty worded as parts and labour
  • Delay start, LED time display and child lock
  • Sold by Amazon.com

Cons

  • Deepest box on the page at 21.5 inches
  • No tank; faucet hookup only
  • Drying method, wash temperature and noise not stated
  • 46.2 pounds listed, the heaviest here
  • Scarce stock at capture

Best for: A deep worktop under low cupboards, where a stainless interior and a parts-and-labour warranty matter more than footprint.

3. COMFEE’ Portable Mini Dishwasher with 1.32 Gal Water Tank, CDC17P0ABB — Best Short Tank Model

Small black countertop dishwasher with a glass door and a water fill opening on the top panel

The shortest tank model on the page by a wide margin, from a listing that asks for 19.6 inches overhead.

Key Specifications

Water supply 1.32 gal tank, or faucet with included hose (adapter included)
Place settings Not stated (30+ items, plates up to 9.5 in)
Programmes 6: Normal, Rapid, Hygiene, Fruit, Glass, Air Refresh
Stated noise Not stated
Drying Air Refresh: circulates air; no heated drying stated
Energy Star Not stated
Outer size 17.13 L x 16.53 W x 17.24 H in
Height vs an 18 in gap 17.24 in body; listing asks for more than 19.6 in
Warranty 1 year manufacturer
Model CDC17P0ABB (made by Midea)
Best Sellers Rank #73 overall; #3 in Countertop Dishwashers
Best For No-hookup use where the cupboards sit 20 inches or more above the worktop

Why We Recommend It

On height alone this is the tank model that fits best, and its own listing says it does not fit an 18-inch gap. The spec table gives 17.24 inches, the lowest of the seven tank models by more than half an inch. Yet the first words of the first bullet are “Please make sure the distance between your countertop and wall cupboard is more than 19.6”. That is about 2.4 inches more than the body, by our arithmetic. The listing does not say why. The tank fills by hand with “the water filling guide included”, and room to pour from above is the obvious reading, but it is our reading, not the seller’s.

The tank is the same size as most others here. “1.32Gal built-in water tank” is 5 litres, the figure five other tank listings state; only its Midea sibling is larger. The faucet alternative is better provisioned than most: “it can be hooked to the kitchen faucet directly with the included water hose (Adapter included)”. It is the only tank listing on the page that says the adapter is in the box. It also gives a water pressure range, “0.04 – 1.0MPa”, which no other listing does.

Capacity is given in items and plate size, not settings. “Wash 30+ items (Max to 9.5-inch plates)”. 9.5 inches is the smallest plate limit on the page; most of the others take 10 to 10.6 inches, and the HAVA takes 11 at an angle. Measure a dinner plate before you buy this one. Many standard dinner plates are wider than 9.5 inches, and a machine that cannot take your plates is a glass and bowl washer.

The drying is air, not heat. The title says “Air-Dry Function”, and the bullet describes Air Refresh as a mode that “circulates air to keep both your dishes and the machine dry and fresh”. No heated drying stage or drying temperature is claimed. The wash itself heats: “The Hygiene cycle heats the water up to 162℉”. If dishes that come out dry matter to you, a hot-air model or a drying aid helps; our rinse aid guide covers the second route.

It is a COMFEE’, but not the same COMFEE’ as the Best Overall. The model is CDC17P0ABB against CDC22P1BBB; the body is 17.13 by 16.53 inches against 21.7 by 19.7; one has a tank and one does not. Both list Midea as the manufacturer. Same brand, same maker, two different machines.

Its real sibling is the Midea tank model. The Midea MDC17P2DWW shares the “17P” model core, the maker, the exact five washing programmes (NORMAL, RAPID, HYGIENE, FRUIT, GLASS), the “water filling guide” and the same clearance warning, word for word. Both ask for about 2.36 inches above their bodies, by our arithmetic. But the Midea is 18.44 inches tall, holds 1.59 gallons, takes 10.6-inch plates and opens its own door to dry. Read it as the newer, larger version of this machine, not a rebadge. This one ranks #3 in the category, is sold by Amazon.com and lists 36.64 pounds.

Pros

  • Shortest tank model here at 17.24 inches
  • Faucet adapter stated as included
  • Water pressure range stated
  • 162°F Hygiene cycle
  • Sold by Amazon.com; #3 in Countertop Dishwashers

Cons

  • Listing asks for more than 19.6 inches of clearance
  • Smallest plate limit on the page, 9.5 inches
  • Air-only drying; no heated drying stated
  • Place settings, noise and Energy Star not stated
  • Heavier than most tank models at 36.64 pounds

Best for: No-hookup use under high cupboards, with plates no wider than 9.5 inches.

4. SPT SD-2224DS Energy Star Compact Countertop Dishwasher with Delay Start — Best Faucet Kit

Silver compact countertop dishwasher with an LED control panel above a stainless-look door

The third short, faucet-fed Energy Star box, and the one that says its universal faucet adapter comes with it.

Key Specifications

Water supply Faucet only; “Universal faucet adapter and Quick Connect”
Place settings Not stated
Programmes 7: Heavy, Normal, Light, Mini Party, Rinse, Speed, Soak
Stated noise Not stated
Drying Not stated
Energy Star Yes, stated in title
Outer size 21.65 L x 19.69 W x 17.24 H in
Height vs an 18 in gap 17.24 in; 0.76 in under (our arithmetic)
Warranty 1 Year Warranty on Labor and Parts
Model SD-2224DS (made by Sunpentown)
Best Sellers Rank #2,276 overall; #45 in Countertop Dishwashers
Best For A faucet-fed Energy Star box with the hookup parts named

Why We Recommend It

The SPT completes the short faucet trio. The spec table gives 17.24 inches high, 21.65 inches long and 19.69 inches wide. That is about 0.76 inches under an 18-inch gap, by our arithmetic, and like the other two faucet machines it carries no clearance caveat, because there is no tank to fill from above. The title puts “ENERGY STAR” in capitals, making this the third and last Energy Star claim on the page, and all three belong to faucet-only machines.

Its hookup is the best described of the faucet machines. “Universal faucet adapter and Quick Connect: For quick and easy connection to most kitchen faucets.” The COMFEE’ says an adaptor is needed; the BLACK+DECKER names a quick-connect but no adapter. The SPT names both. “Most kitchen faucets” is not all of them, and a spray head with no threaded aerator is still a problem, but this is the faucet listing least likely to send you shopping for a part.

The listing is thin on everything else. Its bullets are short lines rather than paragraphs. “7 wash cycles: Heavy, normal, light, mini party, rinse, speed and soak.” “Delay start for added convenience: Two, four, six or eight hours.” An LED display shows remaining time, and there are “Water supply warning indicator and rinse aid warning indicator” lights. There is no place-setting count, no wash temperature, no drying description and no noise figure. A line reading “energy guide capacity: 203” is not explained, and we do not read it as a setting count.

It shares a body with the COMFEE’. 21.65 by 19.69 by 17.24 inches sits within 0.05 inches of the COMFEE’ 6 Place Setting’s 21.7 by 19.7 by 17.2 on every side, and the two programme menus share Mini Party, Rinse and Speed. The model numbers are unrelated and the named makers differ, Sunpentown here and Midea there. That points to a common six-setting body built for more than one brand, but the listings do not prove it. If they are the same hardware, the COMFEE’s stated six settings and 2.77 gallons are the closest guide to what this one holds, but that is our inference, not the SPT’s claim.

The warranty is worded as labour and parts. “1 Year Warranty on Labor and Parts”, the same coverage the BLACK+DECKER states. The listed weight is 43.0 pounds, a little under the other two faucet boxes, and the spec table lists the material as iron.

It is the least popular machine on the page. #2,276 overall and #45 in Countertop Dishwashers, sold by BigKitchen and flagged as scarce stock. Buy it for the named adapter and the Energy Star claim, knowing that the listing leaves you to infer capacity and drying from its look-alikes.

Pros

  • Energy Star stated
  • 17.24 inches tall, under an 18-inch gap with no caveat
  • Universal faucet adapter and Quick Connect named
  • Delay start of two to eight hours
  • Rinse aid and water supply warning lights
  • Warranty worded as labour and parts

Cons

  • Place settings not stated
  • Noise, drying and wash temperature not stated
  • About 426 square inches of worktop by our arithmetic
  • Weakest Best Sellers Rank on the page
  • Scarce stock; sold by a third-party store

Best for: A faucet-fed Energy Star machine under low cupboards, where having the adapter named matters more than detailed specs.

5. Hermitlux Slim Countertop Portable Dishwasher, HDW5CW02 — Best Slim Fit

Narrow white countertop dishwasher with a tall glass door standing on a kitchen worktop

The narrowest body on the page and the tallest tank model that still lists under 18 inches.

Key Specifications

Water supply 5 L tank, or faucet mode
Place settings Not stated (over 30 pieces, plates up to 10.25 in angled)
Programmes 6+1: Normal, ECO, Strong, Fast, Fruit, Super Strong; Dry
Stated noise Not stated
Drying 60 min hot air up to 167°F, then 72 h ventilation
Energy Star Not stated
Outer size 14.61 W x 20.08 D x 17.83 H in
Height vs an 18 in gap 17.83 in; 0.17 in under (our arithmetic)
Warranty 1 Year Manufacturer
Model US-HDW5CW02
Best Sellers Rank #139 overall; #4 in Countertop Dishwashers
Best For A narrow strip of worktop, tank-fed

Why We Recommend It

The Hermitlux solves a different problem from the others: width. “Measuring 14.61″ W x 20.08″ D x 17.83″ H”. At 14.61 inches it is about 2.2 inches narrower than the 16.8-inch-square tank models and about 7 inches narrower than the faucet trio, by our arithmetic. The footprint is about 293 square inches, a little larger than the square models, but it is long and thin, which suits a run of worktop between a sink and a wall. The listing sells exactly that: “fits perfectly in kitchens of any shape—whether U-shaped, L-shaped, or linear”.

On height it squeaks under. 17.83 inches leaves about 0.17 inches under an 18-inch gap, by our arithmetic. That is enough for the body. The listing gives no clearance figure for filling or opening, so if your cupboards sit at exactly 18 inches, check how the tank is filled before you count on it. It is the tallest tank model on the page that lists under 18 inches; the only shorter one, the COMFEE’ Portable Mini, asks for 19.6 inches overhead.

The drying is the best described on the page. “This compact dishwasher offers 60 minutes of hot air drying and 72 hours of automatic ventilation. The drying mode reaches temperatures of up to 167°F”. It is the only listing that puts a temperature on the drying itself. It also claims a “DRY TANK SYSTEM” that directs “hot air through the water tank, keeping it dry”, addressing “moisture buildup common in traditional water tanks”. A tank that sits wet between uses is a real nuisance with these machines; this is the only listing that says it does anything about it.

The tank is 5 litres, like most of the rest. “The water tank mode has a built-in 5L water tank for instant use when filled. In the faucet mode, simply connect the machine to the faucet.” Water use is given as “just 5L per cycle”. The listing does not say whether a faucet hose or adaptor is in the box.

Six programmes plus Dry. Normal, ECO, Strong, Fast, Fruit and Super Strong, with “1 extra function: Dry”, and “dual Y-head spray arms”. Plates up to 10.25 inches go in at an angle; capacity is “over 30 pieces of kitchenware”, with no place-setting count. The wash temperature is not stated, only the drying temperature.

Nothing else on the page shares its outline. Every other tank model is close to square; this is the one genuinely different shape, and its bullet and spec-table dimensions agree. It ranks #4 in the category, sold by hermitlux Direct, with a one-year warranty.

Pros

  • Narrowest body on the page at 14.61 inches
  • 17.83 inches tall, under an 18-inch gap
  • Only stated drying temperature, 167°F, with 60 minutes of hot air
  • Tank drying system stated
  • Dimensions agree across bullets and spec table
  • #4 in Countertop Dishwashers

Cons

  • Only 0.17 inches of headroom under an 18-inch gap, by our arithmetic
  • 20.08 inches deep
  • Place settings, noise and wash temperature not stated

Model DW001-5 (part DW-01-NEW)
Best Sellers Rank #25 overall; #1 in Countertop Dishwashers
Best For No-hookup use under cupboards 19 inches or more above the worktop

Why We Recommend It

The EUHOMY is the best seller in the category, and it states the lowest noise figure on the page. “This countertop dishwasher runs at a quiet 40 dB to maintain a peaceful space.” Only one other listing gives a figure at all, and it is the other EUHOMY, also at 40 dB. Eight of the ten say nothing. The listing does not say how or where the 40 dB was measured, so treat it as a claim; but it is a quiet claim with a number attached, which most of this page lacks. At #25 overall and #1 in Countertop Dishwashers, it is also the most-bought machine here.

It is one of the five that stand above 18 inches, and it says so. The body is 18.03 inches tall, and the first bullet adds: “we kindly recommend reserving sufficient countertop space and leaving more than 19 inches of vertical clearance between the countertop and upper cabinets before use”. That is about an inch above the body, by our arithmetic. Credit to the seller for printing it. If your cupboards sit at 18 inches, this machine will not go under them, by its own account.

The tank is the page standard. “Use the built-in 5L (1.32 gal) tank for countertop dishwasher mode, or connect the included hose to your faucet for continuous water supply.” A “water-level indicator tells you when it’s ready”. For faucet mode, read the small print in the fourth bullet: “Compatible with G3/4-inch faucet connections, please purchase a faucet adapter separately”. The two EUHOMYs are the only listings to name the thread.

Drying is hot air with a time. “After washing, enjoy 60 minutes of hot air drying, then up to 73 hours of automatic ventilation”. 73 hours is an hour more than the 72 stated by the Hermitlux and the HAVA. The Baby Care/Heavy programme “reaches up to 167°F”, and Quick runs 29 minutes.

It is not an Energy Star claim. The last bullet says “ETL & DOE certified”. ETL is a safety listing; DOE refers to the US Department of Energy, but the listing does not say what was certified. Energy Star is a separate label and is not named. The warranty is one year, and the item is sold by Amazon.com.

The other EUHOMY on this page is a different model on the same outline. This is DW001-5 with six programmes; the 8-programme listing is DW002-5A. Its bullet repeats this machine’s 16.85 by 16.73 by 18.03 inches, the 5 L tank, the 40 dB, the 19-inch clearance, the 167°F top wash and the 29-minute Quick, and adds Glass, Self-Clean, a child lock and delay start. This one gives a drying time, 60 minutes, which the newer listing does not. The same outline also sits within a tenth of an inch of the BEADSTER and the HAVA.

Pros

  • #1 in Countertop Dishwashers and #25 overall
  • Lowest stated noise on the page, 40 dB, tied with the other EUHOMY
  • 60 minutes of hot-air drying and up to 73 hours of ventilation
  • Clearance requirement printed, more than 19 inches
  • Faucet thread named, G3/4
  • Sold by Amazon.com

Cons

  • 18.03 inches tall; does not fit an 18-inch gap
  • Faucet adapter sold separately
  • Place settings not stated
  • Energy Star not claimed
  • No child lock or delay start mentioned

Best for: A quiet no-hookup machine under cupboards that sit at least 19 inches above the worktop.

7. BEADSTER Countertop Dishwasher, 5L Tank, Water Softener, NBXWJ08 — Best for Hard Water

Black countertop dishwasher with a transparent window and a touch panel above the door

The only built-in water softener and the longest stated warranty, three years, on an 18.05-inch body.

Key Specifications

Water supply 5 L tank; faucet mode not stated (hoses included)
Place settings Not stated (plates up to 10.24 in)
Programmes 8: Normal, ECO, Strong, Rapid, Glass, Baby Care, Self-clean, Dry
Stated noise Not stated
Drying “Drying function”; method not stated
Energy Star Not stated
Outer size 16.86 x 16.75 x 18.05 in
Height vs an 18 in gap 18.05 in; 0.05 in over (our arithmetic)
Warranty 3 Year Manufacturer
Model NBXWJ08 (part NBXWJ04)
Best Sellers Rank #165 overall; #5 in Countertop Dishwashers
Best For Hard-water areas and buyers who want the longest warranty

Why We Recommend It

The BEADSTER is the only machine here that claims to treat the water. “Built-in water softener reduces limescale and water spots. 5L tank means no plumbing needed. Just fill and plug in. Ideal for hard water areas.” The listing does not say what kind of softener it is, whether it needs salt or how often it needs attention. Spots and scale on glasses are the usual complaint with hard water, and every other machine here leaves that to the detergent and rinse aid.

It has the longest warranty on the page. “3 Year Manufacturer” in the spec table, against one year on all nine of the others. It is sold by BEADSTER itself, not Amazon, and was flagged as scarce stock at capture, so check who honours the warranty before relying on it.

It is 0.05 inches too tall for an 18-inch gap. 16.86 by 16.75 by 18.05 inches, by the bullet and spec table alike. That is one of the five bodies that list above 18 inches, and the listing gives no clearance figure for filling the tank from above. In practice it needs cupboards higher than 18 inches, or open shelving, or none.

The programme list is long and includes a self-clean. “Normal, ECO, Strong, Rapid, Glass, Baby Care, Self-clean, Dry.” Eight in all, with six wash programmes. It also adds a child lock and an “18-hour delay start”, the longest delay stated on the page. A “double-layer metal rack holds plates up to 10.24″”. No wash temperature is stated, which is unusual on the 16.8-inch-square outline, where the two EUHOMYs and the HAVA claim 167°F.

Faucet mode is not stated. The title says “No Hookup” and the bullets talk only about the tank. Yet the accessory list includes “hoses”, plural, alongside a water jug. A drain hose is needed either way; whether an inlet hose for a tap is included, the listing does not say. Drying is “drying function”, with no time or method. There is also a “blue light”, undescribed.

It reads like a close cousin of the 8-programme EUHOMY. Its dimensions are within 0.02 inches of the EUHOMY bullet outline on every side, and its eight-item programme list nearly matches the DW002-5A’s: both have Normal, ECO, a Strong or Baby Care wash, a quick cycle, Glass, Self-clean and Dry, plus child lock and delay start. The model numbers, NBXWJ08 and DW002-5A, are unrelated, and the BEADSTER adds a softener the EUHOMY does not mention, so we call it a likely shared platform rather than a rebadge. Its own spec-table model, NBXWJ08, also differs from its part number, NBXWJ04. Ranked #5 in the category.

Pros

  • Only built-in water softener on the page
  • Longest stated warranty, 3 years
  • Eight programmes including self-clean
  • 18-hour delay start, the longest stated, and child lock
  • Double-layer metal rack, 10.24-inch plates

Cons

  • 18.05 inches tall; does not fit an 18-inch gap
  • Faucet mode not stated
  • Drying method and wash temperature not stated
  • Softener type and upkeep not described
  • Scarce stock; sold by the brand, not Amazon

Best for: Hard-water homes where cupboard height is not a constraint and a three-year warranty matters.

8. HAVA R01 Countertop Dishwasher, 6 Programs, Water Tank, TDQR — Best Documented Tank Model

Black countertop dishwasher with a clear door and a fruit basket visible on the rack

The only stated wattage on the page and the only tank model with a place-setting count.

Key Specifications

Water supply 5 L tank, or faucet with included hose
Place settings 4 (30+ pieces, plates up to 11 in angled)
Programmes 6: Normal, Speed, Soft, Heavy/Baby Care, Fruit, Dry
Stated noise Not stated
Drying 60 min hot air, then 72 h ventilation
Energy Star Not stated
Outer size 16.9 L x 16.8 W x 18.1 H in
Height vs an 18 in gap 18.1 in; 0.1 in over (our arithmetic)
Warranty 1 year warranty
Model TDQR
Best Sellers Rank #189 overall; #6 in Countertop Dishwashers
Best For Buyers who want power draw, capacity and detergent dose on paper

Why We Recommend It

The HAVA tells you more about running it than any other listing here. “HAVA R01 Mini Dishwasher only consumes 5L of water per wash cycle”, and it is “Operating at 950 W”. It is the only listing on the page with a wattage. It also gives a detergent dose, “about 0.2–0.3 oz”, and says “Pods, liquids, or powder detergents are all acceptable”. For choosing among those, our dishwasher pods guide sets out the options. The one firm rule, repeated across several listings here, is dishwasher detergent only; ordinary washing-up liquid foams.

It stands 0.1 inches over an 18-inch gap. “16.9″ L x 16.8″ W x 18.1″ H”. That is before any room to fill the tank, and no clearance figure is given. Only the 8-programme EUHOMY, by its spec table, and the Midea tank model are taller.

It is the only tank model that states a place-setting count. “It can hold up to 4 full place settings and fit up to 11″ dishes loaded at an angle”, alongside “more than 30 pieces of kitchenware”. Four settings against the six stated on the COMFEE’ and BLACK+DECKER gives a fair sense of the gap between the two classes. It is also the best key to the other tank listings: if “30+ pieces” means four settings here, “30+ items” elsewhere probably means about the same. That last step is our inference. 11 inches at an angle is the largest plate limit on the page.

Programmes and drying are well specified. “Normal, Speed, Soft, Heavy/Baby Care, Fruit and Dry modes”, “14 water ports on the spray arms”, and “Heavy/Baby Care mode washes at 167°F”. Drying is “60 minutes of hot air drying and 72 hours of automatic ventilation”, one of three listings with a hot-air drying time.

It shares the square outline. 16.9 by 16.8 by 18.1 inches is within about a tenth of an inch of the EUHOMY DW001-5 (16.85 by 16.73 by 18.03) and the BEADSTER (16.86 by 16.75 by 18.05). The model stem, TDQR, appears on no other listing on this page, and the programme list, with Soft and Fruit, differs from both. We read it as the same body type rather than the same machine. The part number field simply reads “HAVA”.

Warranty is one year, sold by HAVA-US. Noise and Energy Star are not stated. #6 in Countertop Dishwashers and #189 overall.

Pros

  • Only stated wattage on the page, 950 W
  • Four place settings stated, the only tank model with a count
  • Largest plate limit here, 11 inches at an angle
  • 60 minutes of hot-air drying and a 167°F wash
  • Detergent dose and types stated; faucet hose included

Cons

  • 18.1 inches tall; does not fit an 18-inch gap
  • Noise and Energy Star not stated
  • One-year warranty
  • Clearance for filling not stated

Best for: A tank-fed machine bought on documented numbers, under cupboards well above 18 inches.

9. EUHOMY Countertop Dishwasher, 8 Programs, 5L Tank, 40dB, DW002-5A — Most Programmes, Tank

Black and white countertop dishwasher with a glass door and a touch control strip

The EUHOMY best seller’s outline with eight programmes, self-clean, child lock and delay start, and two sets of dimensions.

Key Specifications

Water supply 5 L tank, or included hose to a G3/4 faucet (adapter required if sizes differ)
Place settings Not stated (30+ items, plates up to 10.25 in)
Programmes 8: Normal, ECO, Quick, Baby Care/Strong, Glass, Fruit, Self-Clean, Dry
Stated noise 40 dB (title)
Drying Hot-air drying stated; time not stated
Energy Star Not stated (ETL and DOE certified stated)
Outer size Bullet: 16.85 L x 16.73 W x 18.03 H in; spec table: 16.14 L x 15.75 W x 18.11 H in
Height vs an 18 in gap 18.11 in (spec) or 18.03 in (bullet); asks for more than 19 in
Warranty 1 Year Manufacturer
Model DW002-5A
Best Sellers Rank #183 overall; #1 in Portable Dishwashers
Best For A tank model with self-clean and delay start, under cupboards 19 inches up

Why We Recommend It

This is the second EUHOMY on the page, and it is a different model from the first. The best seller is DW001-5 with six programmes; this is DW002-5A with eight: “Normal, ECO, Quick (29-min), Baby Care/Strong (up to 167°F high-temperature wash), Glass, Fruit, Self-Clean, and Dry.” Glass and Self-Clean are new, and it adds “Child Lock and Delay Start”, which the DW001-5 listing does not mention. The delay length is not stated.

Much of the rest is the same. The bullet gives the same outline, “16.85”(L) x 16.73”(W) x 18.03”(H)”, the same 5 L tank, the same 40 dB in the title, the same G3/4 faucet thread, the same “more than 19 inches of vertical clearance”, the same 29-minute Quick and 167°F top wash, the same “ETL & DOE certified” and the same one-year warranty. Read the pair as a six-programme model and its eight-programme successor or sibling on one body, not as one machine listed twice.

Its spec table disagrees with its bullet. The spec table gives 18.11 inches high, 16.14 long and 15.75 wide, and a weight of 34.6 pounds against the DW001-5’s 28.6. On either height it is over an 18-inch gap: 0.03 inches by the bullet, 0.11 by the spec table, by our arithmetic. The 19-inch clearance request makes the difference academic for anyone with 18-inch cupboards. For worktop planning, the bullet figure is the safer one to measure against, because it is the larger footprint.

The drying copy is more cautious than its sibling’s. “Hot-air drying helps dishes come out ready to use”, but there is no 60-minute figure, and the listing adds a frank note: “Ventilation is not continuous heating, plastics and deep containers may retain a few droplets after drying.” That is an honest description of every small dishwasher here. A rinse aid helps with exactly that problem.

The faucet route is clearer on paper. “Use the built-in 5L tank or connect the included hose to a G3/4” faucet for continuous water supply (Faucet adapter required if sizes differ).” The capacity line also says what does not fit: “not bulky pots or large baking trays”. It is the only listing to rule cookware out in so many words.

Amazon files it in a different category. It is #1 in Portable Dishwashers and #183 overall, sold by Amazon.com, while the DW001-5 is #1 in Countertop Dishwashers. Its eight-programme list also closely matches the BEADSTER’s, on a near-identical outline. Pick this over the DW001-5 if you want self-clean, a child lock and delay start; pick the DW001-5 if you want a stated drying time and the stronger rank.

Pros

  • Eight programmes including Glass and Self-Clean
  • 40 dB stated, tied for the lowest on the page
  • Child lock and delay start
  • Faucet thread named; hose included
  • States plainly that bulky pots do not fit
  • Sold by Amazon.com; #1 in Portable Dishwashers

Cons

  • Bullet and spec table give different dimensions
  • Over 18 inches either way, and asks for 19
  • No drying time stated
  • Place settings and Energy Star not stated
  • One-year warranty

Best for: A tank-fed EUHOMY with self-clean, child lock and delay start, under cupboards at least 19 inches up.

10. Midea Countertop Dishwasher with 1.59 Gal Built-in Water Tank, 5+2 Programs, MDC17P2DWW — Biggest Tank

White countertop dishwasher with a see-through window and a digital display on the door

The only tank bigger than 5 litres, an auto-opening door to dry, and the tallest body and biggest clearance ask on the page.

Key Specifications

Water supply 1.59 gal tank; faucet mode not stated
Place settings Not stated (30+ items, plates up to 10.6 in)
Programmes 5+2: Normal, Rapid, Hygiene, Fruit, Glass; Auto-Open, Delay start
Stated noise Not stated
Drying Door opens automatically; built-in turbofan; no heater stated
Energy Star Not stated
Outer size 17.5 L x 16.5 W x 18.44 H in
Height vs an 18 in gap 18.44 in; listing asks for more than 20.8 in
Warranty 1 year manufacturer
Model MDC17P2DWW (part WQP4-2606-US)
Best Sellers Rank #827 overall; #14 in Countertop Dishwashers
Best For No-hookup use under high cupboards, with fewer refills per load

Why We Recommend It

The Midea breaks the 5-litre pattern, and pays for it in height. “Manually add water to the upgraded 1.59 gal built-in tank using the included water filling guide for spill-free filling”. 1.59 gallons is about 6 litres, by our arithmetic, roughly a fifth more than the 5 litres every other tank here holds. Water use is given as “1.6 Gallons of water per wash cycle”, so one tank still covers about one wash. The body is 18.44 inches tall, the tallest on the page and about 0.44 inches over an 18-inch gap by our arithmetic.

It asks for the most clearance of all. “Please make sure the distance between your countertop and wall cupboard is more than 20.8″”. That is the largest figure any listing prints, about 2.36 inches above the body by our arithmetic, the same margin its COMFEE’ sibling asks for. If your cupboards sit at 18 inches, or even 20, this is not the machine.

Its drying works differently from the rest. “The door opens automatically at the end of each cycle, and the extra built-in turbofan lets out the steam and essentially helps your dishes dry quicker”. No heater or drying temperature is claimed. Venting steam out of the front is a sensible design, though a door that opens on its own also needs clear space in front of the machine, and the listing does not say how far it opens.

It is a tank-only machine on paper. The listing stresses “placement anywhere without tap water connections” and never mentions a faucet mode or hose. Five washing programmes, NORMAL, RAPID, HYGIENE, FRUIT and GLASS, plus two functions, Auto-Open and delay start. It takes “30+ items(Max to 10.6-inch plates)”, the second-largest plate limit here after the HAVA’s 11 inches at an angle. A child lock, leak protection, LED display and viewing window are listed. The Hygiene temperature is not stated, and no weight is given.

It is the COMFEE’ Portable Mini’s bigger sibling, not its twin. Both are Midea-made, both carry a “17P” model core (MDC17P2DWW and CDC17P0ABB), both list the identical five washing programmes, and both open with the same clearance warning. But this one is 1.2 inches taller, holds more water, takes larger plates and replaces Air Refresh with an auto-opening door and fan. Different models in one family.

It is the weakest-ranked tank model here. #827 overall and #14 in Countertop Dishwashers, sold by Amazon.com and scarce at capture, with a one-year warranty. Buy it if you have open shelving or high cupboards and want the biggest tank and the most thoughtful drying design on the page.

Pros

  • Biggest tank on the page, 1.59 gallons
  • Auto-open door and turbofan for drying
  • 10.6-inch plates upright
  • Child lock, leak protection and delay start
  • Sold by Amazon.com

Cons

  • Tallest body here at 18.44 inches
  • Asks for more than 20.8 inches of clearance
  • Faucet mode not stated
  • Noise, Energy Star, place settings and weight not stated
  • Scarce stock; weakest rank of the tank models

Best for: Kitchens with open shelving or cupboards more than 20.8 inches up, where fewer refills and fan-assisted drying matter.

Eighteen Inches, Ten Heights

Height is the one dimension of a countertop dishwasher you cannot work around. A wide machine can sit at the end of a worktop; a deep one can stand a little proud of the front edge. A machine taller than the gap under your cupboards cannot go there at all. And the figures on this page are packed tight: from the shortest at 17.2 inches to the tallest at 18.44, the spread is about an inch and a quarter.

Machine Listed height Against 18 in (ours) Clearance the listing asks for Water supply
COMFEE’ 6 Place Setting 17.2 in 0.8 in under Not stated Faucet only
BLACK+DECKER BCD6W 17.2 in 0.8 in under Not stated Faucet only
COMFEE’ Portable Mini 17.24 in 0.76 in under More than 19.6 in Tank or faucet
SPT SD-2224DS 17.24 in 0.76 in under Not stated Faucet only
Hermitlux Slim 17.83 in 0.17 in under Not stated Tank or faucet
EUHOMY DW001-5 18.03 in 0.03 in over More than 19 in Tank or faucet
BEADSTER 18.05 in 0.05 in over Not stated Tank
HAVA R01 18.1 in 0.1 in over Not stated Tank or faucet
EUHOMY DW002-5A 18.11 in (spec) / 18.03 in (bullet) 0.11 / 0.03 in over More than 19 in Tank or faucet
Midea MDC17P2DWW 18.44 in 0.44 in over More than 20.8 in Tank

The pattern is plain. The four shortest bodies include all three faucet-only machines. The five tallest are all tank models. And the four listings that print a clearance figure, all tank models, ask for roughly one to two and a half inches more than their bodies, by our arithmetic. None says why. The likeliest reason is room to fill a top-loaded tank from a jug, but that is our inference. For the three tank listings that say nothing, assume you need at least the same and check the manual.

A tenth of an inch over is still over. Four bodies list between 0.03 and 0.11 inches above 18, and the Midea is 0.44 over. Small overruns tempt you to try, and are not worth arguing with: cupboard heights vary, worktops are not perfectly flat, and a machine wedged hard under a cupboard has no room for the steam that leaves it at the end of a hot cycle. If your gap is 18 inches on the nose, the realistic choices are the three faucet machines, the COMFEE’ Portable Mini only if you can fill it elsewhere, and the Hermitlux with a fifth of an inch to spare.

Measure the gap where the machine will sit, not at one end. Measure from the worktop surface to the underside of the cupboard, including any light rail or trim, at the front edge where the door or lid opens. Then add whatever clearance the listing asks for. If your cupboards sit at 21 inches or more, every machine on this page fits by height, and the decision moves to footprint and features.

Stacked plates, cups and chopsticks on a pale table
The one tank model with a count holds four settings; both six-setting machines here need a faucet.

Six of Seven Tanks Hold 5 Litres

The “no hookup” feature is nearly identical across seven listings. The two EUHOMYs, the COMFEE’ Portable Mini, the Hermitlux, the BEADSTER and the HAVA all state a 5-litre or 1.32-gallon tank, which is the same volume. Only the Midea is larger, at 1.59 gallons. Several also state their water use per cycle at about one tank, so every one of them is a fill-per-wash machine.

Five litres is about 11 pounds of water, by our arithmetic. That matters twice. First, the 5-litre tank models list at about 28.6 to 36.64 pounds dry, so a full machine is near 40 pounds or more on the worktop. Second, someone has to carry that water. A jug filled at the sink once per load is a small chore, but it is a chore every time, and the reason most of these listings also offer a faucet hose. The Midea’s bigger tank means more water per trip, not fewer trips per wash.

The faucet route has its own small print. The COMFEE’ Portable Mini says its adapter is included, and the SPT names a universal adapter. The DW001-5 EUHOMY says to buy one separately and names the thread, G3/4; the DW002-5A says one is required if your tap differs. The COMFEE’ 6 Place Setting says a suitable one is needed. The rest are silent, and two tank models, the BEADSTER and the Midea, do not state a faucet mode at all. A faucet with a plain threaded aerator is the easy case; a pull-down spray head may have nothing to thread onto. If you are choosing a new tap anyway, check for a threaded aerator before you check anything else.

The trade between the two classes is clear. Tank models give you freedom from the faucet, a small footprint and a body that is usually too tall for an 18-inch gap. Faucet-only models give you Energy Star, the only six-setting counts on the page and a body that fits under low cupboards, at the cost of about half as much worktop again and a sink you cannot use while they run.

Ten Badges, Five Bodies

Read the model numbers, outlines and programme lists together, and ten listings narrow to about five designs. Shared numbers are strong evidence of a shared platform; they are not proof of an identical product, since trim, accessories and firmware can differ. Here is what the listings themselves show.

Platform Listings Model numbers Outer size as stated Evidence
Six-setting faucet body COMFEE’ 6 Place Setting, SPT, BLACK+DECKER CDC22P1BBB, SD-2224DS, BCD6W 21.7 x 19.7 x 17.2; 21.65 x 19.69 x 17.24; 21.5 x 21.7 x 17.2 COMFEE’ and SPT within 0.05 in on every side and share Mini-party, Rinse, Speed; BLACK+DECKER matches height and width only. Model numbers and makers all differ
16.8 in square tank outline EUHOMY DW001-5, EUHOMY DW002-5A, BEADSTER, HAVA DW001-5, DW002-5A, NBXWJ08, TDQR 16.85 x 16.73 x 18.03 (both EUHOMY bullets); 16.86 x 16.75 x 18.05; 16.9 x 16.8 x 18.1 Within about 0.1 in; DW002-5A and BEADSTER have near-matching eight-programme lists
Midea 17-series tank COMFEE’ Portable Mini, Midea MDC17P2DWW CDC17P0ABB, MDC17P2DWW 17.13 x 16.53 x 17.24; 17.5 x 16.5 x 18.44 Same maker and “17P” core, identical five washing programmes and clearance wording; different height, tank and drying
Slim tank Hermitlux HDW5CW02 14.61 x 20.08 x 17.83 No match on the page

The two EUHOMYs are different models. DW001-5 has six programmes, a stated 60-minute drying time and the #1 rank in Countertop Dishwashers. DW002-5A has eight programmes including Glass and Self-Clean, adds child lock and delay start, gives no drying time and ranks #1 in Portable Dishwashers. Both bullets describe the same 16.85 by 16.73 by 18.03 inch body, 5 L tank, 40 dB, G3/4 thread and 19-inch clearance; the DW002-5A’s spec table gives a different, smaller outline and 18.11 inches.

The two COMFEE’ listings are not the same model either. CDC22P1BBB is a six-setting, faucet-only, Energy Star box whose body matches the SPT’s. CDC17P0ABB is a tank-fed mini whose closest relative is the Midea-branded MDC17P2DWW. Both COMFEE’s name Midea as maker.

The square tank outline is the category’s default. Four of the ten share it, with a 5 L tank and a 167°F top wash where stated. The practical consequence: when you compare these four, compare warranty, noise claim, drying, programmes and seller, because the box is close to the same.

What the Step Up Buys

From tank to faucet-only buys height, efficiency labels and stated capacity. All three faucet machines list under 17.3 inches tall, all three claim Energy Star, and two state six settings against four on the only tank model that gives a count. You give up the freedom to put the machine anywhere, and about half as much worktop again.

Within the tank class, the step up is mostly in documentation, not hardware. Most share an outline and a 5 L tank. The better listings tell you more: a noise figure (both EUHOMYs), a drying temperature and a tank-drying system (Hermitlux), a wattage, place-setting count and detergent dose (HAVA), an included adapter and a pressure range (COMFEE’ Portable Mini), a softener and three years of warranty (BEADSTER). The one real hardware step is the Midea’s larger tank and auto-open drying, and it costs 18.44 inches of height.

Width is a step sideways. The Hermitlux is not more capable than the square models; it is narrower and deeper. That is worth having only if your worktop is the right shape for it.

A built-in is the real step up. If you have a base cabinet you can give up and plumbing within reach, an 18-inch slimline dishwasher holds more, frees the worktop and stops the jug-filling. The countertop class exists for kitchens where that is not possible, and for renters who cannot change the plumbing.

What to Check Before You Buy

The gap under your wall cupboards

Measure from the worktop to the underside of the cupboard, at the front, including trim or under-cabinet lights. Compare it with the listed height and with any clearance the listing asks for: 19 inches on both EUHOMYs, 19.6 on the COMFEE’ Portable Mini and 20.8 on the Midea. Five bodies here list above 18 inches.

Tank, faucet or both

Six of the seven tank models hold 5 litres and the Midea 1.59 gallons, so size barely separates them. What separates them is whether faucet mode is stated (it is not on the BEADSTER or the Midea) and whether the hose and adaptor are included. The three faucet-only models cannot run without a tap connection.

Your faucet’s thread

Only the two EUHOMYs name their connection, G3/4. The COMFEE’ Portable Mini includes its adapter and the SPT names a universal one. Unscrew your aerator and check what is there before you order; a spray head with no aerator thread is a problem for every faucet mode here.

Place settings, not item counts

Three listings state a setting count: six on the COMFEE’ 6 Place Setting and BLACK+DECKER, four on the HAVA. The HAVA pairs its four settings with “more than 30 pieces”, which is the best guide to what “30+ items” means on the other tank listings, by our inference.

Plate diameter

Plate limits run from 9.5 inches on the COMFEE’ Portable Mini to 10.6 upright on the Midea and 11 at an angle on the HAVA. Measure your largest dinner plate. A machine that cannot take it will push plates back into the sink.

Noise and drying claims

Only two listings give a decibel figure, and both are EUHOMYs at 40 dB. Hot-air drying with a time is stated on three, with a temperature only on the Hermitlux; the Midea opens its door and runs a fan instead. If dishes come out damp, a rinse aid helps any machine, and our dishwasher cleaner roundup covers the regular clean that keeps a small machine fresh.

Warranty, and who stands behind it

Nine listings state one year; the BEADSTER states three. The BLACK+DECKER and SPT word theirs as parts and labour. Six are sold by Amazon.com and four by brand or third-party storefronts. A longer warranty from a seller you cannot reach is worth less than it looks.

Common Mistakes

  • Measuring the cupboard gap but not the clearance the listing asks for. The Midea body is 18.44 inches; its listing asks for more than 20.8.
  • Treating “no hookup” as a capacity feature. Six of the seven tank models hold the same 5 litres, so the tank barely separates them.
  • Reading “30+ items” as six place settings. The only tank model with a count, the HAVA, states four; the six-setting machines are faucet-only.
  • Assuming the faucet adaptor is in the box. Only the COMFEE’ Portable Mini and the SPT say so; the DW001-5 EUHOMY says to buy it separately.
  • Ignoring footprint because the height fits. The faucet trio needs about 426 to 467 square inches of worktop, by our arithmetic, against about 282 for the square tank models.
  • Taking ETL or DOE wording as Energy Star. Only three listings here claim Energy Star, and none of them has a tank.
  • Trusting one field on a conflicting listing. The 8-programme EUHOMY gives 18.03 inches in a bullet and 18.11 in its spec table.
  • Buying two EUHOMYs as the same machine. DW001-5 and DW002-5A share a body but not a programme list, a drying spec or features.

Who Should Buy Which

Buy the COMFEE’ 6 Place Setting if your cupboards sit at about 18 inches, you have a threaded faucet and a wide stretch of worktop, and you want six settings, eight programmes and Energy Star from a seller you can return to easily.

Buy the BLACK+DECKER BCD6W if you want the same short six-setting class with a stainless interior and a warranty that says parts and labour, and your worktop is deep enough for 21.5 inches.

Buy the COMFEE’ Portable Mini if you want a tank model with the adapter included, your cupboards are more than 19.6 inches above the worktop, and your dinner plates are 9.5 inches or less.

Buy the SPT SD-2224DS if you want a short, faucet-fed Energy Star box with a universal adapter named in the listing, and can live without a stated capacity or drying spec.

Buy the Hermitlux Slim if your free worktop is narrow and deep, you want a tank model that lists under 18 inches, and well-described hot-air drying matters to you.

Buy the EUHOMY DW001-5 if you want the category best seller, a stated 40 dB and 60 minutes of hot-air drying, and your cupboards are at least 19 inches above the worktop.

Buy the BEADSTER if you live with hard water, want the longest warranty on the page, and do not need a faucet mode or a short body.

Buy the HAVA R01 if you like to know a machine’s wattage, place settings and detergent dose before you buy it, and your cupboards are well above 18 inches.

Buy the EUHOMY DW002-5A if you want the EUHOMY body with self-clean, a child lock and delay start, and have 19 inches overhead.

Buy the Midea MDC17P2DWW if you have open shelving or cupboards more than 20.8 inches up, and want the biggest tank and an auto-opening door to dry.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will a countertop dishwasher fit under my kitchen cabinets?

It depends on the gap and on the listing. A common gap between worktop and wall cupboards is about 18 inches, but measure yours at the front edge, including any trim or lighting. On this page, bodies run from 17.2 inches on the COMFEE’ 6 Place Setting and BLACK+DECKER to 18.44 inches on the Midea tank model. Five list a spec-table height above 18 inches. Four tank models also ask for more room than their bodies: both EUHOMYs for more than 19 inches, the COMFEE’ Portable Mini for more than 19.6 and the Midea for more than 20.8. If your gap is exactly 18 inches, the three faucet-only models, the COMFEE’, BLACK+DECKER and SPT, fit with the most margin, and the Hermitlux at 17.83 inches is the tank model that lists under it with no clearance caveat. If your cupboards are 21 inches or higher, every machine here fits by height.

What is the best countertop dishwasher with no hookup?

Seven of the ten here can run from a built-in tank, and six of them state the same 5 litres, or 1.32 gallons; the Midea holds 1.59 gallons. So the tank itself barely decides it. Among them, the EUHOMY DW001-5 is the category best seller at #1 in Countertop Dishwashers, states 40 dB and gives 60 minutes of hot-air drying, but it is 18.03 inches tall and asks for 19 inches of clearance. The Hermitlux is the choice for a narrow worktop and an 18-inch gap, at 14.61 inches wide and 17.83 tall. The BEADSTER adds a water softener and a three-year warranty. All of them still need filling by hand each load, about 11 pounds of water by our arithmetic, and most also offer a faucet mode for when that gets old.

How many place settings does a countertop dishwasher hold?

On this page only three listings say. The COMFEE’ 6 Place Setting and the BLACK+DECKER BCD6W, both faucet-only machines, state six. The HAVA, a tank model, states four, alongside more than 30 pieces of kitchenware and plates up to 11 inches at an angle. The other seven give an item count such as 30+ items, or nothing at all, as on the SPT. Item counts are each seller’s own tally and do not convert neatly into settings, but the HAVA’s pairing of four settings with 30-plus pieces is the best guide on the page to what the other tank models hold. Four settings is enough for one or two people for a day, with little room for cookware; the 8-programme EUHOMY says outright that bulky pots and large baking trays do not fit. If you cook for three or more, the six-setting machines or an 18-inch built-in are the closer match.

Are countertop dishwashers quiet?

Most listings here do not say. Only two of the ten state a noise figure, and both are EUHOMYs: the six-programme DW001-5 and the eight-programme DW002-5A, each at 40 dB. The other eight are silent, including all three faucet-fed machines and every other tank model. Neither EUHOMY listing says how or where its figure was measured, so treat 40 dB as a claim rather than a measurement you can compare with a built-in dishwasher’s rating. Silence on the other eight is not evidence that they are loud, only that you cannot check. If noise matters because the machine will run in an open-plan room or a studio flat, the EUHOMYs are the only machines with a quiet claim attached to a number, and a delay start, stated on the BEADSTER, SPT, BLACK+DECKER, EUHOMY DW002-5A and Midea, lets a run happen while you are out or asleep.

Do countertop dishwashers dry the dishes?

Some describe a proper drying stage; others are vague. The EUHOMY DW001-5, Hermitlux and HAVA state 60 minutes of hot-air drying followed by 72 or 73 hours of automatic ventilation, and the Hermitlux alone gives a drying temperature, 167°F. The EUHOMY DW002-5A says hot-air drying but gives no time, and warns that plastics and deep containers may keep a few droplets. The Midea opens its door automatically at the end of a cycle and runs a turbofan to clear the steam. The COMFEE’ Portable Mini circulates air with no heat claimed. The COMFEE’ 6 Place Setting and BEADSTER mention a drying function without describing it, and the BLACK+DECKER and SPT do not describe drying at all. A rinse aid improves drying in almost any dishwasher, and the SPT even has a rinse aid warning light.

Are any countertop dishwashers Energy Star certified?

Three on this page say they are: the COMFEE’ 6 Place Setting, the BLACK+DECKER BCD6W and the SPT SD-2224DS. All three are faucet-fed machines with no tank, and they share a body within a fraction of an inch on height and width. None of the seven tank models claims Energy Star. Both EUHOMYs say they are ETL and DOE certified. ETL is an electrical safety listing, not an efficiency label, and neither EUHOMY says what the DOE certification covers. The COMFEE’ states 2.77 gallons of water per cycle, about 10.5 litres by our arithmetic, against 5 litres on most tank models and 1.6 gallons on the Midea. That is not a like-for-like comparison, since the six-setting machine washes a larger load, but it shows that the Energy Star label is not the same as using the least water.

Are some of these the same dishwasher under different brands?

Several share a body, but none is shown to be an exact twin. The COMFEE’ 6 Place Setting and the SPT SD-2224DS list outlines within 0.05 inches on every side and share three programme names, though their model numbers and named makers differ; the BLACK+DECKER matches them on height and width but is deeper. The two EUHOMYs, DW001-5 and DW002-5A, describe the same 16.85 by 16.73 by 18.03 inch body but are different models, with six and eight programmes. The BEADSTER and HAVA share that square outline too. The COMFEE’ Portable Mini and the Midea MDC17P2DWW are both Midea 17-series tank machines with identical washing programmes, but differ in height, tank size and drying. The two COMFEE’ listings are entirely different machines. When two listings look alike, compare warranty, features and seller.

Final Verdict

Six settings, eight programmes and Energy Star in a 17.2-inch body that fits under an 18-inch gap, sold by Amazon.com.

Best No-HookupEUHOMY Countertop Dishwasher, 5L Tank, 6 Programs

The category’s #1 seller, 40 dB stated and 60 minutes of hot-air drying, for cupboards at least 19 inches up.

Best Slim FitHermitlux Slim Countertop Dishwasher

14.61 inches wide and 17.83 tall, with the best-described drying on the page and a 5 L tank.

Ten countertop dishwashers, and the spec that splits them is not the one on the box. Six of the seven tank models hold the same 5 litres, so “no hookup” is close to a tie. What differs is height. Five bodies list above 18 inches, and the four listings that print a clearance figure ask for 19 to 20.8 inches. The machines that fit an 18-inch gap with room to spare are the three that have no tank at all.

The rest of the evidence is thinner than the marketing. Two listings state a noise figure, both EUHOMYs. Three state place settings. Three describe hot-air drying with a time. Three claim Energy Star, all faucet-fed. Warranties are one year on nine of ten, with the BEADSTER at three. And the ten listings come down to about five bodies: one shared by the faucet machines, one square tank outline shared by four, a Midea 17-series pair, and the slim Hermitlux.

So buy a countertop dishwasher with a tape measure first. Measure the gap under your cupboards, add any clearance the listing asks for, and decide whether you can give a faucet to the machine. If you can, the faucet class fits lower and carries the Energy Star claims. If you cannot, choose among the tank models on noise, drying, warranty and footprint, because the tank is nearly always the same.

If you buy one countertop dishwasher from this page, make it the COMFEE’ 6 Place Setting: 17.2 inches tall, six place settings, eight programmes and Energy Star, sold by Amazon.com and #2 in its category. If you need no hookup and have 19 inches overhead, the EUHOMY DW001-5 is the quiet best seller; if your worktop is narrow, the Hermitlux is the slim one that still fits under 18 inches.
