The Two Top Sellers Seal Shut as Five Best Produce Savers Vent

Every container on this page promises that fruit and vegetables will stay fresh for longer. Read the ten side by side and they split on one question: does the container do anything about the air inside it? Five name a part that does: a filter, an adjustable vent or a ventilated basket. Five name nothing but a seal. Only the OXO GreenSaver pairs a filter with an adjustable vent.

And shoppers are buying the seal. The two best Best Sellers Ranks on the page belong to sealed colander sets with no vent: Freshmage’s 5-piece at #141 overall and Winproper’s 5-pack at #1,023. Not one listing states how long produce will last; every freshness figure on this page is a seller’s claim, and we report it as one.

So this guide sorts the ten by what each listing says its container actually does: filter, vent, raised basket, colander, or seal alone. Then it counts what each holds and which BPA-free and dishwasher-safe claims each makes. Star ratings and review counts were not captured for this roundup; popularity below is Amazon’s Best Sellers Rank only.

Best Sellers Ranks and specifications are taken from each manufacturer’s Amazon listing as displayed on 5 October 2026 through a United States connection, and may change. Mechanisms are as each listing names them. A filter, vent or ventilated basket is counted as an air mechanism; a colander or draining basket as a drainage mechanism; a seal, lock or clip as a seal. BINO names both a vent and a tight-fitting lid, and is counted with the air group. Progressive’s bullets mention “airtight” storage only in a general line about the brand’s canisters, so we do not count it as a seal claim for the Lettuce Keeper. Capacities are copied from bullets, titles and the Size field. Freshmage gives only a smallest-to-largest range. Rubbermaid and BINO list US cups; Progressive and OXO list quarts; Anysig lists ounces and millilitres. Every litre conversion and set total on this page is our arithmetic. The OXO Berry Keeper gives one item in the spec table against a 2-piece title, and the Asnews model field reads “8pcs” on a 3-piece set; both are reported in the detail cards. The Asnews and Anysig weight fields cannot describe the sets they belong to, so they are left out. Ranks are overall Best Sellers Ranks as returned on 5 October 2026; the two OXO keepers are filed in Containers and the rest in Container Sets. Four were sold by Amazon.com at capture, the other six by brand storefronts. Star ratings and review counts were not captured for any product here.

How We Chose These Ten

We researched current listings, compared manufacturer specifications and documentation, and read each listing’s claims about how its container keeps produce fresh, line by line. We did not carry out hands-on testing, and nothing below is presented as measured performance data. Star ratings and review counts were not captured for this roundup. We used Amazon Best Sellers Rank, buy-box stock and listing specifications instead, and nothing on this page describes or implies how owners have scored these containers.

  • Containers sold to keep produce fresh — every product here is sold as a produce saver, produce keeper, lettuce keeper, berry keeper or fruit storage container for the fridge. Plain leftover boxes, vacuum canisters and produce bags were not in the running.
  • Mechanism recorded exactly as named — a filter, a vent, a ventilated or raised basket, a water reservoir, a colander, or a seal, logged only where the listing names it. A container that says “keeps fresh” without naming a part is logged as a claim, not a mechanism.
  • Freshness durations treated as claims — no listing gives a number of days for produce. Where a listing gives a filter life or a multiplier, we quote it and label it as the seller’s claim.
  • Capacities counted container by container — where a listing gives each size, we list each size. Where it gives only a range, we say so. Conversions between cups, quarts, ounces and litres, and every set total, are our arithmetic.
  • Material and care claims as stated — BPA-free, dishwasher-safe, microwave-safe, freezer-safe and temperature range, logged only where the listing says them, with any lid exclusions kept.
  • Look-alikes weeded out, and the rest flagged — we compared model and part numbers, sizes, dimensions and wording across a wider candidate pool and replaced several containers that duplicated another listing. The four sealed colander sets that remain still share sizes, lid descriptions or wording; each is a distinct listing, and the overlap is disclosed in the detail cards and in the analysis.
  • Popularity from Best Sellers Rank only — ranks are quoted exactly as returned on 5 October 2026, overall and in the category Amazon assigned.
  • Verified stock and seller — each product was the buy-box offer and in stock on amazon.com on 5 October 2026.

The Ten Produce Savers in Detail

1. OXO Good Grips GreenSaver Produce Keeper, Large, White — Best Overall

Tall clear rectangular produce keeper with a white lid, a white inner basket and a small filter compartment on top

The only listing that names three separate ways of keeping produce fresh, and the only one that says what each is for.

Key Specifications

Mechanisms stated Activated carbon filter, sliding vent, elevated basket
Filter Carbon, “made from coconuts”, lasts 90 days (stated)
Capacity 5 qt / 4.7 L
Pieces One keeper with removable basket
Dimensions 12 x 6 x 6.6 in (spec table)
BPA-free Not stated
Dishwasher-safe Not stated
Freshness duration None stated for produce
Warranty OXO Better Guarantee: repair or replacement
Seller Amazon.com
Best Sellers Rank #1,962 overall; #14 in Containers
Best For Long produce such as carrots, celery and zucchini

Why We Recommend It

This is the one container on the page that tells you how it works, part by part. The listing names three mechanisms. A “Natural Carbon Filter absorbs and traps ethylene, a gas released by produce that speeds up the ripening process.” A “Vent slides open and closed to optimize humidity levels for different kinds of produce.” And an “Elevated basket prevents moisture buildup and promotes proper airflow.” Progressive and BINO also name an adjustable vent, but only Rubbermaid names a filter, and no other listing pairs a filter with a vent.

The vent is shared with two rivals; the filter is not. Progressive’s Lettuce Keeper and the BINO also state an adjustable vent. Different produce wants different humidity: leafy and crisp vegetables generally keep better in moist air, while many fruits do better drier. A vent you can slide open or closed lets one keeper serve both, and OXO says so in plain words. The listing does not give settings or a chart for which produce wants which position, so expect to work that out yourself.

The filter has a stated life, and that is a running commitment. “Carbon filter is all-natural, made from coconuts and lasts 90 days.” OXO points buyers to a reminder sign-up for replacements. That 90 days is the life of the filter, not a promise about how long food lasts, and the listing makes no freshness promise in days. It is also the only container here with a part that needs replacing on a schedule. Rubbermaid, by contrast, says its filter “lasts a lifetime”.

The size suits long produce. The listing gives “5 qt/4.7 L” and calls it “ideal for carrots, zucchini, cucumbers and other long produce”. That makes it the largest single container on the page, narrowly: the Progressive Lettuce Keeper is 4.7 quarts, not litres, about 4.45 L by our arithmetic, and Rubbermaid’s 18.1-cup container is about 4.3 L. The spec table gives 12 x 6 x 6.6 inches. Check which of those runs vertical before you plan a shelf: a 12-inch dimension standing up will not fit every fridge shelf gap, though it will lie in most crisper drawers. The removable basket “also works as a colander”, so it covers the rinse-and-drain job the sealed sets sell too.

What the listing leaves out. It does not say BPA-free and it does not say dishwasher-safe, two claims that at least half the listings on this page make. It notes “Color may vary.” The spec table lists the manufacturer as Helen of Troy, OXO’s parent company. It is sold by Amazon.com and ranks #1,962 overall and #14 in Containers, fourth of ten overall on this page. If you want one container that names its mechanisms and explains them, this is it; if you want a set of sizes, it is a single keeper.

Pros

  • Carbon filter, sliding vent and elevated basket all named
  • Only filter-plus-vent design on the page
  • 5 qt / 4.7 L, the largest single container here
  • Basket doubles as a colander
  • Sold by Amazon.com
  • OXO Better Guarantee stated

Cons

  • Filter must be replaced every 90 days, stated
  • BPA-free not stated
  • Dishwasher-safe not stated
  • One container, not a set
  • No vent settings guide in the listing
  • Tall 12-inch dimension in the spec table

Best for: A buyer who wants one large keeper that names how it handles ethylene, humidity and moisture.

2. Rubbermaid FreshWorks Produce Saver, Medium and Large, 8-Piece Set (4 Containers) — Best Set

Four clear produce containers of two heights with grey vented lids, stacked and nested together

A filter in every lid and a raised base in every tub, across four sizes, with BPA-free and dishwasher-safe both stated.

Key Specifications

Mechanisms stated FreshVent filter, elevated base
Filter Built-in; “lasts a lifetime—no refills needed”
Capacities 4.6 cups x 2, 11.3 cups, 18.1 cups
Set total About 38.6 cups / 9.1 L (our arithmetic)
Pieces 4 bases + 4 lids = 8 pieces
BPA-free Yes, stated
Dishwasher-safe Yes, stated
Freshness duration None stated for produce
Listed weight 2.55 pounds
Seller Amazon.com
Best Sellers Rank #2,458 overall; #102 in Container Sets
Best For A matched set for berries, peppers, broccoli and lettuce

Why We Recommend It

This is the set for a buyer who wants the air handled in every size. “Rubbermaid FreshWorks Produce Saver uses FreshVent technology to regulate airflow, so your produce stays fresher longer.” The second bullet gets specific: “The built-in FreshVent filter in these Rubbermaid containers regulates the flow of oxygen and carbon dioxide to create the optimal environment for your fresh produce.” Of the five multi-box sets on this page, it is the only one that names any air mechanism. Freshmage, Winproper, Asnews and Anysig sell a seal.

The filter is permanent, by the listing’s account. “The filter lasts a lifetime—no refills needed.” That is the opposite trade to the OXO GreenSaver, whose carbon filter lasts 90 days and targets ethylene. Rubbermaid’s filter is described as regulating oxygen and carbon dioxide rather than absorbing a gas, and the listing does not mention ethylene. Both are seller claims about how a part works; neither listing gives a measured result. If you dislike replacement parts, the Rubbermaid needs none by its own description.

It asks you not to wash first, which is the reverse of the colander sets. “Simply place unwashed and uncut produce in the FreshWorks container and place container in the fridge; FreshWorks works best when only one type of produce is stored in a container.” Six other containers on this page, Freshmage, Winproper, Asnews, Anysig, BINO and Progressive, are built around rinsing produce in a colander or basket and storing it drained, and Progressive and Anysig even supply dividers to share one box between crops. Rubbermaid’s advice is to keep it dry and whole, and to keep one crop per box. Moisture on the surface of berries and leaves is a common cause of early spoilage, so this is a real difference in method, not just in marketing. The “elevated base” lifts produce “away from moisture” for whatever condensation does form.

The sizes are given exactly, and they cover a fridge. “Two 4.6-cup medium shorts, one 11.3-cup large short container, and one 18.1-cup large container and lids for a total of 8 pieces.” That is about 38.6 cups in all, roughly 9.1 litres, by our arithmetic. The listing even assigns them: the medium shorts for blueberries, the large short for broccoli and bell peppers, the large for iceberg lettuce and spinach. The bases nest and “one lid fits multiple bases”, which helps when the cupboard is full. There is no colander, so washing happens in a separate bowl when you are ready to eat.

Care claims are complete; popularity is not. “BPA-free containers are dishwasher-safe”, with no lid exclusion stated, unlike Freshmage, Winproper, Asnews and Anysig. It is sold by Amazon.com, lists 2.55 pounds and has been on sale since September 2020 according to its release date. Its rank, #2,458 overall and #102 in Container Sets, puts it sixth of ten here. Rank measures what sells, not what works, and this is the set whose listing names the most mechanism per container.

Pros

  • FreshVent filter in every container
  • Filter needs no refills, stated
  • Elevated base in each tub
  • BPA-free and dishwasher-safe, both stated
  • Four exact sizes, about 9.1 L total by our arithmetic
  • Sold by Amazon.com

Cons

  • No colander for rinsing
  • Ethylene not mentioned
  • Sixth of ten by Best Sellers Rank
  • Asks for unwashed produce, one type per box
  • Microwave and freezer use not stated
  • No warranty stated

Best for: A household that wants every container to manage air, in four sizes, without replacement filters.

3. OXO Good Grips Produce Saver, Berry Keeper, 2-Piece Set — Best Berry Keeper

Small clear rectangular container with a white slotted inner basket holding fresh strawberries

A ventilated inner basket sized for the small fruit that gets lost in a crisper drawer.

Key Specifications

Mechanism stated Ventilated, removable inner basket
Capacity Not stated
Pieces “2-Piece Set” (title); NumberOfItems 1, Size “1 EA” (spec table)
Dimensions 6.25 x 5.4 x 8.4 in (spec table)
BPA-free Not stated
Dishwasher-safe Not stated
Freshness duration None stated
Handles Integrated, stated
Seller Amazon.com
Best Sellers Rank #1,542 overall; #15 in Containers
Best For Strawberries, blueberries and cherry tomatoes

Why We Recommend It

This is the only container here built around one kind of produce. “The Berry Keeper is designed for smaller items that often get lost in crispers like strawberries, blueberries and cherry tomatoes.” Most of the rest are sold for “fruits, vegetables, berries, meats” and often leftovers too. If your problem is a punnet of berries going soft at the back of the fridge, this is the listing aimed squarely at it, which is why it takes our berry keeper pick.

The mechanism is airflow around the fruit. “The ventilated, removable inner basket promotes optimal air circulation for freshness – extending the time for delicious snacking and reducing food waste.” Berries crush and bruise under their own weight and sweat where they touch, so air moving between them matters. The listing does not say whether the outer lid is vented or how air gets in and out of the bin, and it names no filter. We count it among the six air mechanisms because the basket’s job, as stated, is circulation, not drainage. It makes no airtight claim.

The listing does not agree with itself on what you get. The title says “2-Piece Set”. The spec table gives NumberOfItems as 1 and Size as “1 EA”. The bullets help a little: “Berry Keeper bins stack together or separately” suggests more than one bin, but “2-piece” could also describe one bin and its basket. Ask the seller, or check the photos in the listing, before you count on two keepers.

No capacity is given. The spec table gives 6.25 x 5.4 x 8.4 inches, which reads as a compact box, and the listing calls it designed for smaller items. It does not give cups, quarts or litres, so it cannot be compared on volume with most of the others. Nor does it say BPA-free or dishwasher-safe. What it does give is “integrated handles to reach in and grab berries when you need them”, a clear bin and lid, and use on “fridges and countertops”.

What to weigh. It is sold by Amazon.com and ranks #1,542 overall and #15 in Containers, third of ten here and the best-ranked of the five containers that name an air mechanism. If you already have the OXO GreenSaver for long vegetables, this is its small-fruit companion; if you want one set for everything, the Rubbermaid’s 4.6-cup containers are the alternative with a stated size and a filter.

Pros

  • Ventilated basket for air circulation, stated
  • Designed for berries and cherry tomatoes
  • Integrated handles
  • Stacks with other Berry Keeper bins
  • No airtight lid trapping moisture
  • Sold by Amazon.com

Cons

  • Capacity not stated
  • Piece count conflicts: 2-piece title, 1 item in specs
  • BPA-free not stated
  • Dishwasher-safe not stated
  • No filter or adjustable vent
  • Lid venting not described

Best for: Anyone whose main waste is berries and cherry tomatoes lost at the back of the crisper.

4. Prep Solutions by Progressive Lettuce Keeper Produce Storage Container, 4.7 Quarts, Green (LKS-06) — Best Lettuce Keeper

Oval clear produce keeper with a green lid and an inner green colander holding a head of lettuce

An adjustable vent, a water reservoir, a colander and a divider in one oval keeper, with a storage guide printed on the front.

Key Specifications

Mechanisms stated Adjustable air vent, water reservoir, colander
Capacity 4.7 qt (about 4.45 L, our arithmetic)
Pieces One keeper with colander and divider
Dimensions 12.5 x 7.5 x 6.25 in; oval
BPA-free Not stated
Dishwasher-safe Yes, stated
Freshness duration None stated
Model LKS-06
Warranty 1 year limited
Seller Amazon.com
Best Sellers Rank #6,373 overall; #270 in Container Sets
Best For Whole heads of lettuce and mixed salad produce

Why We Recommend It

This is the vented keeper that also tells you what to do with it. “This produce saver features an adjustable air vent & water reservoir to create the ideal environment for fresh fruits & vegetables, keeping them fresh longer.” It is one of three containers on the page with a vent you can adjust, alongside the OXO GreenSaver and the BINO, and the only container anywhere here that names a water reservoir. The listing does not explain how the reservoir is meant to be used, whether it collects drained water or holds a little water to raise humidity, so treat its purpose as unstated.

It is the one listing that prints its own advice on the box. “This dishwasher safe container features a storage guide printed on the front for quick reference.” None of the other nine offers a guide to which produce wants which conditions, and that is the gap a vent leaves open. OXO and BINO give you a vent to slide; Progressive tells you, on the container itself, what to do with it. The listing does not reproduce the guide, so we cannot say what it recommends.

It takes the opposite view to Rubbermaid on mixing. “Use the included divider into place to store different produce together.” Rubbermaid says its FreshWorks works best with only one type of produce per container. Progressive supplies a divider so you can split one keeper between two crops. A divider separates produce physically but shares the same air, so if one side is ethylene-heavy fruit, the other side will see that gas. The colander covers the rinse-and-drain job: “Wash & store in one container.”

The size is in quarts, and easy to confuse with the OXO. The title and Size field give “4.7 Quarts”. That is about 4.45 litres, by our arithmetic, a little less than the OXO GreenSaver’s 4.7 litres; the same number in two different units. The spec table gives 12.5 x 7.5 x 6.25 inches and an oval shape, which suits a whole head of lettuce lying flat on a shelf.

What to weigh. It is dishwasher-safe with no lid caveat stated, but makes no BPA-free claim. It carries a “1 Year limited warranty”, one of four warranty or replacement promises on the page, and has been listed since October 2018, the oldest release date here. Sold by Amazon.com, it ranks #6,373 overall and #270 in Container Sets, ninth of ten. Other bullets are brand copy about the company’s 40 years and its “airtight, secure storage canisters” in general; they say nothing about this keeper. For lettuce and salad, it is the most complete vented single keeper after the OXO.

Pros

  • Adjustable air vent, stated
  • Only water reservoir on the page
  • Storage guide printed on the container
  • Divider and colander included
  • Dishwasher-safe, no lid caveat stated
  • 1-year limited warranty; sold by Amazon.com

Cons

  • No filter
  • BPA-free not stated
  • Reservoir use not explained
  • Divider shares one air space
  • 4.7 quarts, not litres: smaller than the OXO
  • Ninth of ten by Best Sellers Rank

Best for: A salad household that wants a vented lettuce keeper with its storage advice printed on the front.

5. BINO Produce Saver, 15.2 Cup / 3.6 L, with Adjustable Air Vent and Removable Basket — Best Vented Mid-Size Keeper

Clear rectangular produce container with a lid vent and a removable slotted basket holding fresh berries

A vent you can set and a BPA-free claim in one mid-size keeper, and the listing explains why the vent is there.

Key Specifications

Mechanisms stated Adjustable air vent, colander-style basket
Lid “Tight-fitting lid to keep out moisture and air”
Capacity 15.2 cups / 3.6 L
Other sizes 6.8 and 23.7 cups, sold as separate listings
Dimensions 12 x 8 x 4 in (spec table)
BPA-free Yes, stated
Dishwasher-safe Not stated; “easy to clean”
Freezer Freezer-safe, stated
Model 12105-CLR
Seller BINO
Best Sellers Rank #5,608 overall; #314 in Container Sets
Best For Berries, cut fruit and salad leaves in a single box

Why We Recommend It

The BINO is the only listing that argues for its own vent. “An air vent is necessary for a produce storage bin because it allows air to circulate within the container, which helps keep the produce fresh for longer. The air vent regulates humidity and promotes airflow.” That is the case the whole air camp is making, put in a single bullet. The title calls it an “Adjustable Air Vent”, so like the OXO GreenSaver and the Progressive, it lets you open or close the box to the fridge.

It also claims a tight lid, which is not a contradiction once the vent is shut. The first bullet describes “a tight-fitting lid to keep out moisture and air”. Read with the vent bullet, that describes a lid that seals around its edge and lets air in only through the vent you control. It is a sensible design on paper. The listing does not say how far the vent opens or give a guide to which produce wants it open.

The basket drains; it is not stated to be raised. “It has a removable colander-style basket that helps drain any excess water.” And: “The removable basket can be used to wash and drain produce.” No filter is named. The listing also suggests the box for mixing and serving salads, and as a freezer container: “Because our produce saver is freezer-safe, it also serves as a freezer container for food.”

This listing is one size of three. The title and Size field give “15.2 Cup/3.6L”, and the last bullet notes the range comes in “three different sizes to choose from: 6.8 cups, 15.2 cups, and 23.7 cups”. The spec table gives NumberOfItems 1 and 12 x 8 x 4 inches, a low, wide box. At 3.6 litres it is smaller than the OXO and Progressive keepers, and big enough for a few punnets of berries or a bag of salad leaves.

What to weigh. “Made of durable, BPA-free plastic”, but no dishwasher claim; the listing says only that it is “easy to clean” and stain-resistant. No warranty is stated. Sold by the BINO storefront, it ranks #5,608 overall and #314 in Container Sets, eighth of ten. If you want a vent and a BPA-free statement in the same listing, this is the only single keeper that offers both.

Pros

  • Adjustable air vent, stated and explained
  • BPA-free plastic, stated
  • Colander-style basket for washing and draining
  • Freezer-safe, stated
  • Low 4-inch height suits shelves
  • Two other sizes available

Cons

  • No filter
  • Dishwasher-safe not stated
  • Basket not stated to be raised
  • No vent settings guide
  • One container per listing
  • No warranty stated

Best for: A buyer who wants a mid-size vented keeper with a BPA-free claim for berries and salad.

6. Freshmage 5 PCS Large Fruit Storage Containers for Fridge with Colanders — Best Seller

Five clear rectangular containers with black-trimmed lids and inner colanders, stacked in size order

The best-ranked container on the page by a wide margin, and one of the least specific about its own sizes.

Key Specifications

Mechanisms stated Colander; “sealed environment” with locks
Capacities 300 ml to 4,200 ml (10 oz to 148 oz); middle sizes not stated
Containers 5
BPA-free Yes, food-grade PP, stated
Dishwasher-safe Yes, lid not included
Microwave / freezer Yes, lid not included / Yes
Temperature range -22°F to 284°F (-30 to 140°C)
Part number / model FC008FMAW / “wu”
Freshness duration None stated
Seller Freshmage Direct
Best Sellers Rank #141 overall; #8 in Container Sets
Best For A low-commitment rinse-and-store set

Why We Recommend It

This is what most shoppers buy when they search for a produce saver. It ranks #141 overall and #8 in Container Sets, about seven times better than the next-best rank on this page, the Winproper at #1,023. Whatever else this page argues, the Freshmage 5-piece is the market’s default answer.

The mechanism is a colander inside a sealed box. “The produce saver containers have a sealed environment built with the colanders and locks. Making it easy to rinse and filter out the water on the surface of vegetables and fruits to reduce food spoilage.” Draining surface water is a genuine help, especially for berries. The listing does not say the colander is raised, names no vent or filter, and makes the broad promise of “Extending products fresh for a longer time and reducing shopping frequency” without a number. That is a claim, and the only thing behind it in the listing is the colander and the seal.

It gives a range, not five sizes. “You will get 5 fridge storage containers with colander size from 300 ml to 4200 ml [10 oz – 148 oz].” The three sizes in between are not stated, so you cannot total the set or check whether the medium box takes a head of broccoli. The spec table adds little: Size is given as “midum” and Model as “wu”, a placeholder rather than a model number; the part number is FC008FMAW. Its top size, 4.2 L, is close to the 4.15 L top boxes of the Winproper set.

The care claims are clear about the lid. Food-grade PP “which is bpa free and durable”, rated from “-22℉ to 284℉”, and “dishwasher safe (lid not included), microwave safe (lid not included) and freezer safe”. That -22°F to 284°F range is the widest stated here, and Asnews and Anysig give the same one.

What to weigh. It is sold by Freshmage Direct. Stackable, BPA-free and dishwasher-safe for the bases, it does what the sealed camp does and is the most popular way to do it. If you want to know each size before you buy, the Winproper, Asnews and Anysig listings state every size; if you want air managed rather than sealed in, look to the OXO, Rubbermaid, Progressive and BINO entries.

Pros

  • Best Sellers Rank #141 overall, the best here by far
  • Colander in each container
  • BPA-free food-grade PP, stated
  • Widest stated temperature range: -22°F to 284°F
  • Five containers up to 4.2 L
  • Stackable in use and in storage

Cons

  • Only a size range; three sizes not stated
  • Lids excluded from dishwasher and microwave claims
  • No vent, filter or raised basket stated
  • Model field reads “wu”
  • Freshness promise has no number
  • Typos throughout the listing text

Why We Recommend It

This listing tells you exactly what is in the box. “5 pack of X-Large size 140 OZ(4.15L) + large size 106 OZ (3.15L) + medium size 57 OZ(1.7L) + small size 27 OZ(0.8L) +mini size 12 OZ(0.35L).” That is about 10.15 litres in all, by our arithmetic, and it lets you check each box against a crisper drawer or a lettuce before you order. Of the five multi-box sets on this page, four give every size: this one, Asnews and Anysig in litres or millilitres, Rubbermaid in cups.

It makes one of two multiplier claims on the page. “Produce stays fresh noticeably longer for two times.” Two times longer than what, under what conditions and measured how, the listing does not say. It is a seller’s claim with no reference point, and we report it as one. The mechanism behind it is the same colander-and-seal design as Freshmage’s: “double-layered, both with a removable colanders for easy rinsing and filtering out the water.”

The seal is described in detail. “These fruit and veggie storage containers feature a food-grade silicone seal and 4 reinforced locking clips that ensures superior airtightness.” The listing also notes “thicker lock clips with rounded edges for easy opening and closing, and high-bottoms for durability and stability”. “High-bottoms” is about the base of the box, not a raised colander; the listing does not say the basket sits off the floor.

It is honest about the lids. Polypropylene, “BPA free and reusable”, rated -4°F to 248°F, and dishwasher-safe, with a candid warning: “it’s best to hand wash the lids, as the heat of the dishwasher can warp them.” A warped lid would undo the airtight claim, so take that seriously. It is one of four listings to state a warranty or replacement promise, with OXO’s guarantee, Progressive’s 1-year limited warranty and Anysig’s 180-day seal replacement: “manufacturer warranty for 90 days from date of purchase”.

Two sets on this page echo it. Asnews sells the same “4 in 1” idea in nearly the same words, soaking, washing, draining and storage, with the same four-clip lid and its own two-times freshness claim. Anysig’s 1.7 L and 0.8 L boxes are exactly Winproper’s, and it uses the same “4 reinforced locking clips” phrase. No model numbers match, so we treat the overlap as a probable shared design. Sold by WeeProp, the Winproper ranks #1,023 overall and #38 in Container Sets, second on this page and far ahead of either look-alike. Of the three, it is the one with five stated sizes, a BPA-free claim and a written warranty.

Pros

  • All five sizes stated, about 10.15 L total by our arithmetic
  • Silicone seal and four reinforced clips
  • BPA-free polypropylene, stated
  • 90-day warranty stated
  • Candid lid-care warning
  • Second-best rank on the page

Cons

  • “Two times” fresher has no stated basis
  • Lids may warp in the dishwasher, per the listing
  • No vent, filter or raised basket stated
  • Sold under a seller name different from the brand
  • Wording and sizes echoed by two other sets
  • Narrower temperature range than Freshmage

Best for: A buyer who wants five known sizes and a stated warranty in a sealed colander set.

8. Asnews 3pcs 4 in 1 Fruit Storage Containers for Fridge with Removable Colanders — Best Raised Colander

Three clear lidded containers in graduated sizes, each holding a removable slotted basket with fresh produce

The only sealed set that says its colander is elevated, on a listing that borrows Winproper’s pitch almost line for line.

Key Specifications

Mechanisms stated Elevated removable basket; silicone ring and 4 clips
Capacities 3.3 L, 1.75 L, 0.85 L
Set total About 5.9 L (our arithmetic)
Containers 3, each with a basket
BPA-free Yes, food-grade PP, stated
Dishwasher-safe Yes, lid removed
Microwave / freezer Yes, lid removed / Yes
Temperature range -22°F to 284°F
Freshness claim “Up to 2 times longer” (unmeasured)
Part number / model BXH3001 / “8pcs”
Seller Asnews Life Direct
Best Sellers Rank #3,977 overall; #179 in Container Sets

Why We Recommend It

This is the one sealed set that lifts its produce out of the drained water, by its own account. “Each container comes with a removable filterable basket, allowing you to rinse produce directly under the tap and strain water instantly. This elevated design keeps food away from moisture at the bottom.” Freshmage, Winproper and Anysig sell a colander but never say it sits off the floor of the box. Only the OXO GreenSaver and the Rubbermaid FreshWorks, both in the air camp, make a comparable raised-basket claim. The listing gives no height for the lift.

It is still a sealed box, and says so emphatically. “Our airtight food storage containers are engineered with a food-grade silicone sealing ring and 4 reinforced locking clips to create a 100% watertight and airtight environment.” There is no vent and no filter. The raised basket deals with liquid water; the air inside the lid, and any ethylene the produce gives off, stays in the box.

It makes the second multiplier claim on the page. The elevated design is said to keep produce “crisp and fresh for up to 2 times longer”. Like Winproper’s “two times”, it gives no baseline and no method. It is a seller’s claim and we report it as one.

The pitch reads like Winproper’s. The title’s “4 in 1” is Winproper’s phrase, and so is the idea behind it: Asnews says its bins “combine soaking, washing, draining, and storage in one”; Winproper says “Combined soaking, washing, draining and storage functions”. Both describe a silicone seal with four reinforced locking clips, and both make a two-times freshness claim. The sizes are close but not identical, 3.3, 1.75 and 0.85 L against Winproper’s 3.15, 1.7 and 0.8 L, and the -22°F to 284°F range is Freshmage’s and Anysig’s rather than Winproper’s. We disclose it as a probable variant of the same generic container design, not a confirmed match; no model number lines up.

The spec table is untidy. The Size field gives “850 ml – 3300 ml”, which agrees with the bullets. The Model field reads “8pcs” on a three-piece set, and the listed weight cannot describe three plastic boxes, so we leave it out. Care claims are clear: food-grade PP, “100% BPA-free”, freezer-safe, and microwave- and dishwasher-safe with the lid removed. Sold by Asnews Life Direct, it ranks #3,977 overall and #179 in Container Sets, seventh of ten. At about 5.9 litres in three boxes, by our arithmetic, it is the smallest set here, and the only sealed one that states a raised basket.

Pros

  • Elevated basket stated, the only sealed set to say so
  • Silicone sealing ring and four clips
  • BPA-free food-grade PP, stated
  • Freezer-safe; -22°F to 284°F
  • Three sizes stated in litres
  • Stackable and nestable

Cons

  • No vent or filter
  • “Up to 2 times longer” has no stated basis
  • Lids excluded from dishwasher and microwave
  • Model field reads “8pcs” on a 3-piece set
  • Wording closely echoes Winproper
  • Smallest set total here, about 5.9 L

Best for: A rinse-first household that wants drained produce held off the floor of a sealed box.

9. Anysig 8 Pack Fridge Fruit Storage Containers with Removable Colander — Largest Set Total

Eight clear containers with grey clip lids in four sizes, stacked in pairs with inner colanders

Eight boxes in four sizes, two of each, with dividers for the largest pair: the most stated volume on the page.

Key Specifications

Mechanisms stated Removable colander; silicone seals, 4 clips
Capacities 3,300 ml x 2, 1,700 ml x 2, 800 ml x 2, 380 ml x 2
Set total About 12.36 L (our arithmetic)
Pieces 8 containers, 8 colanders, 8 lids, 2 divider plates
BPA-free Not stated; “food grade PP 5”
Dishwasher-safe Yes, lid not included
Microwave Yes, lid not included
Temperature range -22°F to 284°F (-30 to 140°C)
Replacement promise Seal cover replaced within 180 days if damaged
Model “8 Pack Gray”
Seller Anysig
Best Sellers Rank #11,820 overall; #422 in Container Sets

Why We Recommend It

By the numbers it lists, this is the biggest set on the page. “Anysig fruit storage containers set includes 8 containers, 8 removable colanders, 8 airtight lids and 2 Divider Plate, Varied size are 112 oz/3300 ml *2 +57 oz/1700 ml *2 + 27 oz/800 ml *2 + 13 oz/380 ml *2.” That is about 12.36 litres in all, by our arithmetic, ahead of Winproper’s 10.15 and Rubbermaid’s 9.1. It gets there with pairs rather than one big tub: its largest box is 3.3 litres, smaller than the top box of the Freshmage, Winproper or Rubbermaid sets.

The dividers are a practical extra. “The divider plate can be separated left and right or up and down to store two kinds of fruits.” Only Progressive also supplies a divider. As with Progressive, the two halves share one air space inside a sealed lid, so a divider keeps produce apart physically but does nothing about ethylene passing between them.

The mechanism is the familiar seal-plus-colander. “Our fruit storage containers for fridge use the food grade silicone seals and 4 reinforced locking clips to ensure airtight. Each container has a removable colander, which effectively separates fruits from water, and prolongs the freshness of your food.” No vent, no filter and no stated raised basket. “Prolongs the freshness” comes with no figure.

It looks like the same generic design again. Its 1.7 L and 0.8 L boxes match Winproper’s exactly, its 3.3 L box matches the Asnews set’s largest, and its “4 reinforced locking clips” phrase appears on Winproper’s page too. The temperature range, -22°F to 284°F, is Freshmage’s and Asnews’s. The model field reads only “8 Pack Gray”, so there is no model number to compare. We disclose it as a probable variant of the same container family as Winproper, Asnews and Freshmage, not a confirmed one.

What to weigh. The material is “food grade PP 5”, said to be “thicker then others” with no measurement, and no BPA-free statement is made. It is “Dishwasher and microwave safe (lid not included)”. Anysig offers a “replacement service within 180 days” if the seal cover is damaged in transit or otherwise. The listed weight cannot describe eight containers, so we leave it out. Sold by Anysig, it ranks #11,820 overall and #422 in Container Sets, the lowest rank on this page. If you want the most boxes and litres in a sealed set, this is it.

Pros

  • About 12.36 L total, the most here by our arithmetic
  • Eight containers and eight colanders
  • Two divider plates for the largest pair
  • Silicone seals and four clips
  • 180-day seal cover replacement offered
  • Wide -22°F to 284°F range

Cons

  • No vent, filter or raised basket stated
  • BPA-free not stated
  • Lids excluded from dishwasher and microwave
  • Largest box only 3.3 L
  • No model number; sizes echo Winproper
  • Lowest Best Sellers Rank on the page

Best for: A big household that wants the most stated boxes and litres in a sealed colander set.

10. SOOPLEU Avocado Saver & Onion Storage, 4 Pcs Silicone Fresh Produce Holder — Best for Cut Halves

Four small round and avocado-shaped containers with clear twist lids in assorted colours

A seal for half an onion or avocado, and nothing else claimed beyond it.

Key Specifications

Mechanism stated Silicone film seal with rotating lid only
Capacity Not stated
Pieces 4, in 4 colours
Size 5.5 x 4.1 x 1 in (Size field); 4.9 x 4.9 x 1 in (dimension fields)
Material Food-grade silicone film and ABS
BPA-free Not stated
Dishwasher-safe Not stated; “wash it under running water”
Freshness duration None stated
Model SSG-N-818
Seller SOOPLEU SHOP
Best Sellers Rank #2,453 overall; #101 in Container Sets
Best For Half an avocado, onion, lemon or tomato

Why We Recommend It

This is a different kind of product from the other nine, and its shape says so. “The Onion-shaped container is perfect for storing halved fruits and vegetables, mimicking the shape of produce for easy identification.” These are four small savers, one inch high, for the cut half you would otherwise wrap in film: half an avocado, half an onion, a lemon, a tomato. They are not crisper bins, and they do not try to be.

The only mechanism is the seal. “Airtight food containers storage now features a newly upgraded top cover with a soft, highly elastic food-grade silicone film and ABS. This allows for perfect sealing without leakage.” And: “This fruit storage container features a tight seal that prevents fruits and other small foods from coming into contact with the external environment, avoiding spoilage.” No vent, filter, basket or colander. For a cut surface, keeping air off is the whole point, so a seal is the right tool here, even though it is the wrong one for a box of whole produce that needs to breathe.

The sizes do not agree. The Size field gives 5.5 x 4.1 x 1 inches. The length and width fields give 4.9 by 4.9 inches. No capacity is given in any unit. Both figures describe something about the size of a palm, which suits a half avocado, but you will not be able to store a whole one in a 1-inch-high saver.

The care and material claims are thin. Silicone film and ABS, but no BPA-free statement. No dishwasher claim; instead, “Our food keeper easily cleaned, you only have to wash it under running water.” The rotating lid and “numerous protrusions to increase friction” are meant to make it easier to open. The listing also suggests nuts, yogurt and snacks, and carrying them in a bag.

What to weigh. Sold by SOOPLEU SHOP, it ranks #2,453 overall and #101 in Container Sets, fifth here, a place ahead of the Rubbermaid. It belongs on this page because it is sold as a produce saver and searched for as one. If your waste is cut halves rather than whole bunches, it is the right shape; for anything else, every crisper container here holds more.

Pros

  • Shaped for cut avocado, onion, lemon and tomato
  • Silicone film seal with rotating lid
  • Four pieces in four colours
  • Small enough for a door shelf or bag
  • Clear lids show the contents
  • Also suits nuts and snacks, per the listing

Cons

  • Seal is the only stated mechanism
  • Capacity not stated in any unit
  • Size fields conflict: 5.5 x 4.1 in vs 4.9 x 4.9 in
  • BPA-free not stated
  • Dishwasher use not stated
  • Too shallow for whole produce

Best for: Anyone throwing away the other half of an avocado or onion, rather than whole produce.

Five Name an Air Mechanism, Five Only Seal

Every listing claims fresher produce. The table below records what each one names as the reason. We split the claims into four kinds of part: something that handles air (a filter, a vent or a ventilated basket), something that lifts produce or holds water below it, something that drains water (a colander or removable basket), and a seal. A tick means the listing names the part; it does not mean the part works as claimed, which we cannot know from a listing.

Container Air: filter or vent Raised basket / reservoir Colander / drain Seal claimed Freshness figure
OXO GreenSaver Carbon filter + sliding vent Elevated basket Yes, basket doubles as colander No Filter lasts 90 days
Rubbermaid FreshWorks FreshVent filter Elevated base No No Filter “lasts a lifetime”
OXO Berry Keeper Ventilated basket Not stated Removable basket No None
Progressive Lettuce Keeper Adjustable vent Water reservoir Yes, colander No None
BINO Adjustable vent Not stated Yes, colander-style basket Tight-fitting lid None
Freshmage 5-piece No Not stated Yes Yes, locks None
Winproper No Not stated Yes, double-layer Yes, silicone + 4 clips “Two times” longer
Asnews No Elevated basket Yes Yes, silicone + 4 clips “Up to 2 times” longer
Anysig No Not stated Yes Yes, silicone + 4 clips None
SOOPLEU No No No Yes, silicone film None

Count the columns and the page splits five to five. Five listings name a way of handling air. Within those five, two name a filter (OXO GreenSaver and Rubbermaid), three name a vent you can adjust (OXO GreenSaver, Progressive and BINO) and one names a ventilated basket (OXO Berry Keeper). Only the GreenSaver has both a filter and an adjustable vent. Five listings name a seal and nothing that moves air: Freshmage, Winproper, Asnews, Anysig and SOOPLEU.

The other columns cut across the split. Seven containers name a colander or drain basket: the GreenSaver, Progressive, BINO, Freshmage, Winproper, Asnews and Anysig, plus the Berry Keeper’s removable basket. Three state a raised basket or base: the GreenSaver, Rubbermaid and Asnews; Progressive names a water reservoir, which implies a gap below the produce but does not say so. Six claim a seal of some kind, and one of those, BINO, pairs it with a vent: a lid that closes tight at the edge and breathes where you let it.

Why the split matters. Fresh produce keeps respiring after it is picked: it takes in oxygen, gives off carbon dioxide and water vapour, and some fruit, apples and bananas among them, gives off ethylene, which speeds ripening in itself and in its neighbours. In a clipped-shut box, all of that stays inside. Condensation can form on the lid and walls, and ethylene can build. A colander helps with liquid water on the floor of the box. It does nothing for the air. A vent lets moist air and gases out, at the cost of some drying. A carbon filter, by the OXO listing’s account, takes ethylene out without opening the box. They are three different answers to the same problem.

A seal still has its place. For rinsed berries or salad you plan to eat within a few days, a sealed box keeps the produce from drying out and keeps fridge smells away from it. For a cut half, as with the SOOPLEU savers, keeping air off the cut surface is the point. The argument here is not that sealed boxes are wrong. It is that the listings sell “fresher for longer” on both designs, when the designs set out to do opposite things.

No listing puts a number of days on freshness. Two give a multiplier: Winproper’s “two times” and Asnews’s “up to 2 times longer”, neither with a baseline. Freshmage promises “reducing shopping frequency”; Anysig says its colander “prolongs the freshness”. OXO’s 90 days and Rubbermaid’s lifetime are filter lives. Every one of these is a seller’s claim. How long produce actually lasts depends far more on what it is, how ripe it was when bought and how cold your fridge runs than on the box.

A colander drains water; it does nothing for ethylene, which only one listing here says it absorbs.

Capacities, Container by Container

Five of the ten are multi-box crisper sets, four are single keepers, and one is a set of small cut-produce savers. They describe their sizes in five different units, and some give only a range or nothing at all. The table puts them side by side. Litre conversions and set totals are our arithmetic, using 0.237 litres to the US cup and 0.946 litres to the US quart.

Container Count Sizes as listed Largest (L) Total (ours)
Anysig 8 3,300, 1,700, 800, 380 ml, two of each 3.3 About 12.36 L
Winproper 5 4.15, 3.15, 1.7, 0.8, 0.35 L 4.15 About 10.15 L
Rubbermaid FreshWorks 4 4.6, 4.6, 11.3, 18.1 cups About 4.3 About 9.1 L
Asnews 3 3.3, 1.75, 0.85 L 3.3 About 5.9 L
Freshmage 5-piece 5 300 to 4,200 ml range only 4.2 Not calculable
OXO GreenSaver 1 5 qt / 4.7 L 4.7 4.7 L
Progressive Lettuce Keeper 1 4.7 qt About 4.45 About 4.45 L
BINO 1 15.2 cups / 3.6 L 3.6 3.6 L
OXO Berry Keeper 1 or 2 (conflict) Not stated — —
SOOPLEU 4 Not stated — —

Most litres and biggest box are not the same thing. Anysig totals about 12.36 litres, the most on the page, but gets there with eight boxes, and its largest is 3.3 litres. Winproper’s five come to about 10.15 litres with a 4.15-litre top box, and Rubbermaid’s four to about 9.1 litres with an 18.1-cup tub of about 4.3 litres. If one container has to take a whole head of lettuce, the size of the biggest box matters more than the set total.

The best-selling set is the one you cannot total. Freshmage’s 5-piece ranks #141 overall and states only its smallest and largest boxes. Three containers in the set have no stated size. If a box needs to take a particular head of lettuce or bag of spinach, that is a question to put to the seller.

Watch the units on the two big single keepers. The OXO GreenSaver is 4.7 litres; the Progressive Lettuce Keeper is 4.7 quarts, about 4.45 litres. Same number, different unit, and the OXO is the larger, and the largest single container on the page. It is built tall and narrow, 12 by 6 by 6.6 inches in its spec table, while the Progressive is an oval 12.5 by 7.5 by 6.25 inches and the BINO a low 12 by 8 by 4. Measure the shelf height or drawer length before ordering. If your fridge is a compact one, our mini fridge without freezer roundup gives interior heights to plan around.

Four Sealed Sets, One Generic Design?

Generic fridge container sets are often the same product sold by several storefronts. We replaced several close duplicates while choosing these ten. The four sealed colander sets that remain still share enough to suggest a common design, and the listings never say so. What they show is sizes, temperature ranges, lid descriptions and wording.

Field Freshmage 5-pc Winproper 5-pk Asnews 3-pc Anysig 8-pk
Model / part “wu” / FC008FMAW KD108AW “8pcs” / BXH3001 “8 Pack Gray”

Temperature range -22°F to 284°F -4°F to 248°F -22°F to 284°F -22°F to 284°F

Shared wording Own text “4 in 1”; soaking, washing, draining, storage; “two times” “4 in 1”; soaking, washing, draining, storage; “2 times” “4 reinforced locking clips”
BPA-free Yes Yes Yes Not stated
Best Sellers Rank #141 #1,023 #3,977 #11,820

Asnews and Winproper match by wording. Both sell a “4 in 1” container that combines soaking, washing, draining and storage, both describe a silicone seal with four reinforced locking clips, and both claim produce lasts two times longer. Their sizes are close without being identical, 3.3, 1.75 and 0.85 L against 3.15, 1.7 and 0.8 L, and Asnews alone claims an elevated basket.

Anysig matches by measurement. Its 1.7 L and 0.8 L boxes are exactly Winproper’s, its 3.3 L box is exactly Asnews’s, and it uses the same four-clip phrasing. It has no model number at all, only “8 Pack Gray”. Its -22°F to 284°F range is the one Freshmage and Asnews give.

Freshmage is the loosest fit. It shares the temperature range with Asnews and Anysig and the colander-and-lock idea with all three, and its top size, 4.2 L, is close to Winproper’s 4.15 L. Its text is its own, and it does not give enough sizes to compare. No two of the four share a model number, so none of this is proof. We disclose the four as probable variants of one generic sealed-colander design.

What it means for a buyer. If these four are versions of one box, choose between them on what each listing commits to in writing: every size stated (Winproper, Asnews, Anysig), BPA-free (all but Anysig), a warranty or replacement promise (Winproper, Anysig), a raised basket (Asnews), or the most litres (Anysig). The other six containers here, OXO’s two (11140100 and 11387700), Rubbermaid (2114813), Progressive (LKS-06), BINO (12105-CLR) and SOOPLEU (SSG-N-818), have no look-alikes on this page.

Four sealed sets here share sizes, clip counts or wording; compare what each commits to in writing.

BPA-Free, Dishwasher-Safe and the Lid Problem

Two claims turn up again and again on produce containers. On this page, half the listings say BPA-free and six say dishwasher-safe, and the dishwasher claim usually stops at the lid.

Container BPA-free Material named Dishwasher Microwave / freezer
OXO GreenSaver Not stated Not stated Not stated Not stated
Rubbermaid FreshWorks Yes Not stated Yes Not stated
OXO Berry Keeper Not stated Not stated Not stated Not stated
Progressive Lettuce Keeper Not stated Not stated Yes Not stated
BINO Yes “Plastic” Not stated Freezer-safe
Freshmage 5-piece Yes PP Yes, lid excluded Both; lid excluded from microwave
Winproper Yes Polypropylene Yes; hand-wash lids advised Microwave, lid open
Asnews Yes Food-grade PP Yes, lid removed Both; lid removed for microwave
Anysig Not stated Food-grade PP 5 Yes, lid excluded Microwave, lid excluded
SOOPLEU Not stated Silicone film, ABS Not stated; rinse under tap Not stated

Five say BPA-free; six say dishwasher-safe; four say both. The BPA-free claims are Rubbermaid, BINO, Freshmage, Winproper and Asnews. The dishwasher claims are Rubbermaid, Progressive, Freshmage, Winproper, Asnews and Anysig. Rubbermaid, Freshmage, Winproper and Asnews make both. Neither OXO listing makes either claim, and nor does the SOOPLEU. Silence is not evidence of BPA, and polypropylene, which four listings name, is not made with BPA in any case; Anysig names PP 5 without saying BPA-free. But if the claim matters to you, it is printed on five pages and missing from five.

The lid is where the dishwasher claim stops. Freshmage, Asnews and Anysig exclude the lid in so many words, and Winproper advises hand-washing lids because “the heat of the dishwasher can warp them”. Only Rubbermaid and Progressive state dishwasher-safe with no lid caveat. On a sealed container, the lid carries the gasket and the clips, and on a vented one it carries the vent, so it is the part whose shape matters most. Washing lids by hand is a small chore that protects the feature you bought the box for.

The best-equipped keeper is the quietest on care. The OXO GreenSaver names three mechanisms and no care claims at all: no dishwasher statement, no BPA statement, no material. That is a gap in the listing rather than a known problem with the product, and worth asking about before you buy if either point decides it for you. For cutting and prepping what goes into these boxes, our cutting board guide covers boards that are themselves dishwasher-safe.

Best Alternatives

If none of the ten fits, these are the directions worth looking in. Each comes from a gap on this page.

Alternative Why Consider It Better For Main Trade-Off
Glass storage containers No plastic claims to check; most glass is oven- and dishwasher-safe Cut fruit and prepped salads eaten within days Heavier; no colander or vent in most designs
General food storage set Broader size ranges and lid styles than produce-specific sets Leftovers as well as produce No drainage basket or air mechanism
Replacement ethylene filters in a box you own Adds the gas handling only one container here claims Mixed fruit bowls and crisper drawers Filters need replacing on a schedule
Fridge turntable for small produce Brings berries and halves to the front where they get eaten Deep shelves where food gets forgotten Does nothing for humidity or drainage

Our glass food storage containers guide covers glass sets that suit cut fruit, and the wider food storage containers roundup sets out general-purpose sets that double as produce storage. A turntable on a deep fridge shelf solves a different cause of waste, food that is fresh but forgotten; our lazy Susan roundup covers fridge-friendly ones.

What the Step Up Buys

The ten fall into four tiers by what they claim to do, not by what they cost.

Tier one: a seal. The SOOPLEU savers keep air off a cut surface and nothing more. That is exactly right for half an avocado and of little use for a bunch of kale.

Tier two: a seal plus a colander. Freshmage, Winproper, Asnews and Anysig. You gain the ability to rinse, drain and store in one container, which suits berries and salad leaves eaten within the week. Asnews adds a stated raised basket and Anysig adds dividers and the most litres. Because the four look like versions of one design, what you are really choosing between is stated sizes, a BPA claim, a warranty and lid care.

Tier three: a vent. BINO and Progressive name a vent you can adjust, with a colander, and Progressive adds a water reservoir, a divider and a printed storage guide. The OXO Berry Keeper gets its airflow from a ventilated basket instead. What you gain is a way to let moist air and gas out of the box.

Tier four: a filter. Rubbermaid FreshWorks puts a permanent filter that regulates oxygen and carbon dioxide, plus an elevated base, in four sizes. The OXO GreenSaver adds an ethylene-absorbing carbon filter to an adjustable vent and an elevated basket that doubles as a colander. What the top step buys is a container whose listing explains how it keeps produce fresh, rather than one that only says it will. The cost of the GreenSaver is a filter to replace every 90 days.

What to Check Before You Buy

Does it name a mechanism, or only a promise?

Look for a part you can point to: a filter, a vent, a ventilated or raised basket, a colander. On this page, five listings name an air mechanism, seven name a colander or drain basket, and one names only a seal. “Keeps produce fresh longer” with nothing behind it is a claim you cannot check.

Sealed or vented, for the produce you buy

Rinsed berries and salad eaten within days do well enough in a sealed box with a colander. Whole fruit and vegetables stored for a week or more are where airflow and ethylene handling are meant to help. Rubbermaid asks for one type of produce per container; Progressive and Anysig supply dividers to share one. Either way, keep ethylene-heavy fruit such as apples and bananas apart from greens.

Adjustable, or not at all?

Three listings say their vent adjusts: OXO GreenSaver, Progressive and BINO. Rubbermaid’s filter is fixed, and the Berry Keeper’s ventilation is in the basket. A vent you can close lets one box serve humid-loving greens and drier-keeping fruit; a fixed design does not.

Every size, or just a range?

Four of the five sets list every size. Freshmage lists only the smallest and largest. If a box has to take a particular item, a head of lettuce, a bunch of celery, check the largest box, not the set total: Anysig’s biggest is 3.3 litres despite the most litres overall.

Measure the fridge, not the box

The OXO GreenSaver’s spec table gives a 12-inch dimension, and the Progressive is 12.5 inches long. An eight-box set like Anysig’s needs shelf room for two of everything. Measure shelf height, drawer depth and door clearance first.

Read the dishwasher claim to the end

Freshmage, Asnews and Anysig exclude the lid, and Winproper advises hand-washing lids to avoid warping. Only Rubbermaid and Progressive state dishwasher-safe with no lid caveat; neither OXO listing nor the BINO makes a dishwasher claim.

Compare the look-alikes on paper

Four sealed sets here share sizes, lid descriptions and wording. Compare what each commits to: every size stated, BPA-free, a warranty, a raised basket. If your containers end up living under the counter between uses, our under-sink organizer guide has racks that fit nesting sets.

Common Mistakes

  • Reading “airtight” as “fresher”. The two best-selling sets sell a seal with no vent; a sealed box also keeps in the ethylene and moisture produce gives off.
  • Taking a colander for an air mechanism. Seven containers drain water; only two name a filter, and only one pairs it with an adjustable vent.
  • Believing a freshness multiplier. Winproper’s “two times” and Asnews’s “up to 2 times” have no baseline, and no listing gives a number of days.
  • Confusing a filter’s life with your food’s. OXO’s 90 days and Rubbermaid’s “lifetime” describe filters, not produce.
  • Mixing up quarts and litres. The OXO is 4.7 litres; the Progressive is 4.7 quarts, about 4.45 litres by our arithmetic.
  • Buying on set total alone. Anysig lists the most litres, about 12.36 by our arithmetic, but its largest box is 3.3 L.
  • Putting sealed lids in the dishwasher. Three listings exclude the lid and Winproper warns that dishwasher heat can warp it.
  • Paying for a name when the box is shared. Four sealed sets here share sizes, clip counts or wording; compare what each commits to in writing.

Who Should Buy Which

Buy the OXO GreenSaver if you want one keeper that explains itself. A carbon filter for ethylene, rated for 90 days, a sliding vent for humidity and an elevated basket that doubles as a colander, in 4.7 litres. Accept a filter to replace, a single container, and no BPA or dishwasher claim in the listing.

Buy the Rubbermaid FreshWorks if you want the air handled in every size. Four containers from 4.6 to 18.1 cups, each with a permanent vent filter and an elevated base, BPA-free and dishwasher-safe stated. Accept no colander, and follow its one-crop-per-box, unwashed-produce advice.

Buy the OXO Berry Keeper if berries are what you throw away. A ventilated inner basket for strawberries, blueberries and cherry tomatoes, with handles, and the best-ranked air design here. Accept no stated capacity and a 2-piece title that the spec table calls one item.

Buy the Progressive Lettuce Keeper if salad is the job. An adjustable vent, a water reservoir, a colander, a divider and a storage guide printed on the front, in 4.7 quarts, with a 1-year limited warranty. Accept no filter and no BPA-free claim.

Buy the BINO if you want a vent and a BPA-free claim together. An adjustable vent the listing explains, a colander-style basket, 3.6 litres, freezer-safe. Accept no dishwasher claim and one size per listing.

Buy the Freshmage 5-piece if you want what most people buy. Best Sellers Rank #141 overall, five colander boxes up to 4.2 litres, BPA-free. Accept that only the smallest and largest sizes are stated and that nothing handles the air.

Buy the Winproper if you want every size and a warranty in writing. Five stated sizes, about 10.15 litres total by our arithmetic, BPA-free, 90-day warranty. Discount its “two times” fresher claim, and hand-wash the lids.

Buy the Asnews set if you rinse first and want the basket off the floor. The only sealed set that states an elevated basket, in three sizes totalling about 5.9 litres, BPA-free. Discount its “up to 2 times” claim, and note how closely its pitch follows Winproper’s.

Buy the Anysig set if you want the most boxes. Eight containers and eight colanders, about 12.36 litres by our arithmetic, two dividers and a 180-day seal replacement promise. Accept no BPA-free claim, a 3.3-litre largest box and the lowest rank on the page.

Buy the SOOPLEU savers if your waste is cut halves. Four shaped silicone-sealed savers for avocado, onion, lemon and tomato. Accept no stated capacity, no care claims and no use for whole produce.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between a produce saver and an airtight container?

On this page, the difference is whether the listing names a way of handling air. Five containers name a filter, a vent or a ventilated basket: the OXO GreenSaver, Rubbermaid FreshWorks, OXO Berry Keeper, Progressive Lettuce Keeper and BINO. Five sell a sealed box and nothing that moves air: Freshmage, Winproper, Asnews, Anysig and the SOOPLEU cut-half savers. Produce keeps respiring after harvest, giving off moisture, carbon dioxide and in some cases ethylene. A sealed box keeps all of that inside, which can be fine for rinsed berries eaten within days and less suited to whole produce stored for a week. A vented or filtered container sets out to manage that air rather than trap it. The BINO also seals at the edge, so its vent is the only way air gets in or out. Pick the design for the produce you buy.

How long do produce savers keep fruit and vegetables fresh?

None of the ten listings here says. There is no number of days anywhere on the page. Winproper claims produce stays fresh noticeably longer for two times, and Asnews claims up to 2 times longer, without saying longer than what or how it was measured. Freshmage promises extending products fresh for a longer time and reducing shopping frequency. OXO gives 90 days, but that is the life of its carbon filter, and Rubbermaid says its filter lasts a lifetime, which is likewise about the part. Every freshness figure here is a seller claim, not a measurement, and we did not test any of these containers. In practice, how long produce lasts depends mainly on what it is, how ripe it was when you bought it, whether it was washed and how cold your fridge runs. A container can help at the margins, but it cannot reverse those factors.

Do produce savers with carbon filters work better than vented ones?

We cannot say from listings, and we did not test them. What we can say is what each claims. Only the OXO GreenSaver names a carbon filter: activated carbon, made from coconuts, that it says absorbs and traps ethylene and lasts 90 days. The Rubbermaid FreshWorks names a different kind of filter, one it says regulates the flow of oxygen and carbon dioxide and lasts a lifetime. Progressive and BINO name adjustable vents instead, which let moist air and gases escape rather than absorbing them, and the GreenSaver has a vent as well as its filter. Ethylene matters most when ethylene-producing fruit, such as apples and bananas, shares space with produce that is sensitive to it, such as leafy greens. If you want ethylene handling in writing, the GreenSaver is the only option on this page.

Should I wash produce before putting it in a produce saver?

The listings disagree. Freshmage, Winproper, Asnews, Anysig, BINO and Progressive are built around rinsing produce in a colander or basket and storing it in the same container once drained, and the OXO GreenSaver basket doubles as a colander. Rubbermaid takes the opposite line and tells you to place unwashed and uncut produce in the FreshWorks container, with only one type of produce per box. Surface moisture is a common cause of early spoilage, especially for berries and leaves, so if you do rinse first, drain thoroughly. The GreenSaver, Rubbermaid and Asnews state a raised basket or base that keeps produce clear of any water that collects. If you buy produce to eat within a few days, rinse-and-store is convenient. If you want it to last longer, storing it dry and washing just before eating is the approach the Rubbermaid listing recommends.

What is the best berry keeper?

Of the ten here, the OXO Good Grips Berry Keeper is the only container designed specifically for berries. Its listing says it is meant for smaller items that get lost in crispers, such as strawberries, blueberries and cherry tomatoes, and that its ventilated, removable inner basket promotes air circulation. It has integrated handles, stacks with other Berry Keeper bins and is the best-ranked air design on the page. Its weaknesses are on paper: no capacity is stated, and the title says 2-piece set while the spec table gives one item. If you would rather have a stated size, the Rubbermaid FreshWorks set includes two 4.6-cup containers that its listing assigns to blueberries, each with a filter and an elevated base. The BINO, at 3.6 litres with an adjustable vent and a colander-style basket, is a larger vented option for several punnets.

What is the best produce keeper for lettuce?

Two single keepers on this page are sized for it. The Progressive Lettuce Keeper is named for the job: an oval 4.7-quart container, about 4.45 litres by our arithmetic, with an adjustable air vent, a water reservoir, a colander, a divider and a storage guide printed on the front. It is dishwasher-safe and carries a 1-year limited warranty, but makes no BPA-free claim. The OXO GreenSaver is slightly larger, at 4.7 litres, and adds a carbon filter and an elevated basket to its adjustable vent, though OXO pitches it at long produce such as carrots, celery and zucchini. In a set, Rubbermaid assigns its 18.1-cup large container to iceberg lettuce and spinach. The sealed sets will hold lettuce too, but nothing in them lets moist air out, which is the main thing a leafy crop needs managed over a week.

Are these produce containers BPA-free and dishwasher-safe?

Five listings say BPA-free: Rubbermaid, BINO, Freshmage, Winproper and Asnews. Six say dishwasher-safe: Rubbermaid, Progressive, Freshmage, Winproper, Asnews and Anysig. Four make both. Both OXO keepers make neither claim, and nor does the SOOPLEU, which says to rinse under running water; Anysig names food-grade PP 5 but not BPA-free. Read the dishwasher sentence to the end, too. Freshmage, Asnews and Anysig exclude the lid, and Winproper says it is best to hand-wash the lids because dishwasher heat can warp them. Only Rubbermaid and Progressive state dishwasher-safe with no lid caveat. On a sealed or vented container, the lid carries the gasket, clips or vent, so hand-washing it is the safer habit whatever the listing says. If either claim decides the purchase for you and the listing is silent, ask the seller before you buy.

Are cheap fridge container sets all the same product?

Some appear to be, though no listing says so. While choosing these ten we replaced several sets that duplicated another listing, and the four sealed colander sets that remain still overlap. Asnews uses Winproper’s 4 in 1 pitch, the same soaking, washing, draining and storage line, the same four-clip lid and a matching two-times freshness claim, with slightly different sizes. Anysig’s 1.7 and 0.8 litre boxes are exactly Winproper’s, and its 3.3 litre box is exactly Asnews’s. Freshmage, Asnews and Anysig share a -22 to 284 degree Fahrenheit range. No two share a model number, so treat the overlap as a strong hint rather than proof. Choose between look-alikes on what each listing commits to in writing: every size stated, a BPA-free claim, a warranty, a raised basket or the most litres.

The only filter-plus-vent design here: carbon filter, sliding vent and elevated basket in a 4.7 L keeper sold by Amazon.com.

Best SetRubbermaid FreshWorks Produce Saver, 4-Pack

The only multi-box set that handles air: a permanent vent filter and elevated base in all four sizes, BPA-free and dishwasher-safe stated.

Best Berry KeeperOXO Good Grips Berry Keeper, 2-Piece Set

A ventilated inner basket designed for strawberries, blueberries and cherry tomatoes, with handles and stacking bins.

Ten produce savers promise fresher food, and they disagree about how. Five name a way of handling air: two filters, three adjustable vents and one ventilated basket, with the OXO GreenSaver the only one to pair a filter with a vent you can set. Five name a seal and nothing more.

No listing tells you how long food will last. The only freshness numbers on the page are a 90-day filter life, a lifetime filter and two unmeasured “two times” claims. All are seller claims. The market, meanwhile, buys the seal: the two best ranks belong to Freshmage and Winproper, sealed colander sets with no vent, and the four sealed sets on the page look like versions of one generic design.

So buy a produce saver by the part it names. Decide whether your produce needs draining, air or both. Check whether the vent adjusts, that every size is stated, read the dishwasher claim to the lid, look for BPA-free in writing if it matters to you, and compare the look-alikes on what they commit to rather than the name on the box.

If you buy one produce saver from this page, make it the OXO GreenSaver Large: a carbon filter, an adjustable vent and an elevated basket, the most stated mechanisms here, in the largest single container, sold by Amazon.com. If you want every size handled the same way, the Rubbermaid FreshWorks 4-pack puts a filter in each lid; if berries are your problem, the OXO Berry Keeper is built for them.
