Every griddle on this page promises to turn a gas grill into a flat top. Almost none of them tells you whether it will fit yours. The size printed in the title is the cooking surface, not the space the plate needs, and only one listing of ten says so out loud.
That listing is the Uniflasy 25 by 16 inch cast iron plate. Its first bullet is headed “IMPORTANT FIT CHECK”. The flat surface is 25 by 16 inches, but “the handles extend approximately 1.05″ beyond each side, making the total outside length about 27.1″”. It recommends a 5-burner or larger grill and warns that “Burner count alone does not guarantee fit”.
Now read the other 25 by 16 plates. The QuliMetal, the same size, says it is “pre-tested to fit Weber Genesis, Charbroil, Nexgrill, and 90% of gas/charcoal grills on the market”. The Utheer, the same size again, says its “universal design fits most grills”. Neither gives a handle measurement. One seller tells you a 25 by 16 plate is a big-grill accessory; two tell you it fits nearly anything. They cannot all be right about your grill.
The burner counts do not line up either. The 23 by 16 inch Arribueno says it fits “most 3/4-burner gas grills”. The 17 by 13 inch Hisencn says “3–5 burner gas grills”. So a 3-burner grill is named as a home for a 17-inch plate and a 23-inch plate, and a 25-inch plate is sold as needing five burners by one seller and as fitting “90%” of grills by another. A burner count is not a measurement.
The model-specific inserts trade that problem for another. Weber’s own Rust-Resistant insert names the exact Spirit grills and build years it fits. Weber’s Genesis II insert replaces one grate and states plainly that it “DOES NOT FIT: 2022 Genesis Gas Grills”. EasiBBQ’s insert lists Weber grate part numbers and dozens of Genesis model numbers. If your grill is on the list, these are the surest fits on the page; if it is not, they are no use at all. And two of the three carry dimension fields that disagree with each other.
Even the sizes need checking. The Charbroil insert claims “a 270 sq. inch” griddle, but its own length and width fields, 16.61 by 12.28 inches, multiply out to about 204 square inches by our arithmetic. The surface claimed is bigger than the outside of the plate.
So this guide sorts the ten by how precisely each listing tells you what it needs from your grill. We set out every stated size, every grill named, every material and every heat limit, show our own area arithmetic where it helps, and explain how to measure your grates before you order. Star ratings and review counts were not captured for this roundup; popularity below is Amazon’s Best Sellers Rank only.
All ten were captured on 5 October 2026. They range from #3 to #85 in Amazon’s Griddles rankings, and the only plate that publishes its full outside length sits at #4.

Best Sellers Ranks and specifications are taken from each manufacturer’s Amazon listing as displayed on 5 October 2026 through a United States connection, and may change. Sizes are as printed by each seller. Where a listing’s title, bullets, size field and dimension fields disagree, we show the one that describes the cooking surface and report the others in the product card. Areas elsewhere on this page are our arithmetic, not the seller’s. Ranks are Amazon Best Sellers Rank in Griddles on 5 October 2026. Only the Uniflasy states its outside length including handles; for the other universal plates, assume the handles add length you must measure for. The Weber Rust-Resistant, Weber Genesis II and EasiBBQ inserts fit named grills only. Three products were sold by Amazon.com at capture (Charbroil and both Webers); the other seven by third-party sellers named in each card. Star ratings and review counts were not captured for any product here.

How We Chose These Ten
We researched current listings, compared manufacturer specifications and documentation, and read each listing’s fit and size claims line by line. We did not carry out hands-on testing, and nothing below is presented as measured performance data. Star ratings and review counts were not captured for this roundup. We used Amazon Best Sellers Rank, buy-box stock and listing specifications instead, and nothing on this page describes or implies how owners have scored these griddles.
- Griddle plates and inserts for gas grills — every product here is a flat plate sold to sit on, or replace, the grates of a gas grill. Freestanding propane flat tops were not in the running; for those, see our propane griddle guide.
- Universal and model-specific both included — seven plates are sold by size for any grill; three are built for named Weber grills. The two kinds answer the fit question in different ways, and we compare them on that question.
- Every size recorded in every field — titles, bullets, the size field and the length, width and height fields were logged separately. Where they disagree, we report both rather than pick one.
- Areas labelled as ours — we multiplied stated dimensions to get square inches. These are our arithmetic, shown so you can check them, not the seller’s figures.
- Fit claims kept in the seller’s words — burner counts, brand lists, model numbers and “universal” claims are quoted as printed. We test them against each other, because no listing gives your grill’s measurements.
- Popularity from Best Sellers Rank only — ranks are quoted exactly as returned on 5 October 2026, overall and in Griddles. Ranks move constantly and measure recent sales, not quality.
- Verified stock and seller — each product was the buy-box offer and in stock on amazon.com on 5 October 2026, from the seller named in its card.

The Ten Gas Grill Griddles in Detail
1. Uniflasy Griddle for Gas Grill, 25 x 16 Inch Cast Iron Flat Top Plate — Best Overall

The only listing on the page that tells you how much grill a griddle needs, not just how big it is.
Key Specifications
| Cooking surface | 25 x 16 in; 400 sq. in. stated |
|---|---|
| Outside length | About 27.1 in, handles extend about 1.05 in each side |
| Clear space required | At least 27.1 x 16 in at grate level |
| Fit as stated | 5-burner or larger gas grills recommended; not for curved grates |
| Material | Cast iron with FDA-tested nonstick coating; also described as pre-seasoned |
| Height | 3.0 in (dimension field) |
| Grease | Grease drain; raised sides |
| Warranty | Not stated |
| Seller | BBQMall Direct |
| Best Sellers Rank | #6,544 overall; #4 in Griddles |
Why We Recommend It
This is the listing that answers the question every other one dodges. Its first bullet is headed “IMPORTANT FIT CHECK”, and it does the arithmetic for you: the flat surface is 25 by 16 inches, the handles stick out about 1.05 inches at each end, so the plate is about 27.1 inches long overall. “Your grill must provide at least 27.1″ × 16″ of clear usable space at grate level. If your grill has only 25″ of clear inside length, this griddle may not fit.” No other universal plate here tells you how far its handles reach. That one sentence is worth more than any burner count on the page.
It is honest about burners, too. The listing recommends a 5-burner or larger grill, then immediately qualifies it: “Burner count alone does not guarantee fit—always measure the inside cooking area before ordering.” It rules out “curved grill grates, round burner camp stoves or unsupported glass/electric cooktops”. Set that beside the QuliMetal, the same 25 by 16 inches, which claims “90%” of grills, and you see the problem this guide is about. Same plate size, opposite advice. The Uniflasy’s version is the cautious one, and the one that gives you a number to measure against.
The size is the most generous universal surface here. 400 square inches, stated, and the arithmetic checks: 25 times 16 is 400. With the handles, the footprint is about 433.6 square inches by our arithmetic. The Utheer and QuliMetal share the 25 by 16 surface; only the EasiBBQ and, on one of its fields, the Weber Rust-Resistant claim more, and both of those fit named grills only.
The material description contradicts itself. One bullet says “Nonstick-Coated Cast Iron” with an “FDA-tested nonstick coating” and “No seasoning required before first use, unlike traditional cast iron griddles.” The last bullet calls it “Pre-Seasoned Reinforced Flat Top”. A coated surface and a seasoned surface are cared for differently, and the listing does not say which this is. Treat it as coated, the more detailed claim, and ask the seller before using a metal scraper hard on it. Two of the bullets are also duplicated in part, which suggests a listing assembled in a hurry.
What to weigh. It is sold by BBQMall Direct, a third-party seller. It ranks #4 in Griddles and #6,544 overall, second only to the Utheer on this page. The weight field gives about 21.9 pounds, so lifting it hot off a grill is a two-handed job. No warranty is stated. If you have measured 27.1 by 16 inches of clear space, this is the best-documented universal plate you can buy.
Pros
- Outside length stated: about 27.1 in with handles
- 400 sq in of surface, stated and correct
- Clear-space requirement in inches, not just burners
- Warns against curved grates
- #4 in Griddles, second-best rank here
- Grease drain and raised sides
Cons
- Coated and pre-seasoned in different bullets
- Needs 27.1 in of grill, a large firebox
- Brand list contradicts its own fit advice
- Warranty not stated
- About 21.9 pounds to lift
- Third-party seller
Best for: Owners of large gas grills who have measured at least 27.1 by 16 inches of clear space at grate level.
2. Charbroil Performance Series Griddle Insert, Porcelain-Coated Cast Iron — Best Budget

The cheapest plate here, sold by Amazon.com, with a surface claim its own dimensions cannot hold.
Key Specifications
| Cooking surface as stated | “270 sq. inch 12″ flat-top griddle” |
|---|---|
| Outside dimensions | 16.61 L x 12.28 W x 2.39 H in (size field 16.6 x 12.3 x 2.4) |
| Fit as stated | Sits on top of your gas grill grates; no grill model named |
| Material | Porcelain-coated cast iron |
| Seasoning | None required; ready out of box |
| Utensils | Metal-utensil safe, stated |
| Grease | Built-in grease slot into the grill’s grease system |
| Warranty | 1 Year Limited |
| Seller | Amazon.com |
| Best Sellers Rank | #26,919 overall; #18 in Griddles |
Why We Recommend It
This is the simplest fit on the page. “Sits on Top of Grates: Simply place on top of your gas grill grates for instant versatility without buying another appliance.” It does not replace a grate and does not name a grill. Despite the “Performance Series” in its title, which is also the name of a Charbroil grill range, the bullets never say it is limited to those grills. At 16.61 by 12.28 inches outside, it is small enough to sit on one side of most grills and leave the rest of the grates free, which is how a plate this size is best used.
The area claim does not survive its own spec table. The first bullet promises “a 270 sq. inch 12″ flat-top griddle”. The length and width fields are 16.61 and 12.28 inches. Multiplied, that is about 204 square inches by our arithmetic, for the whole outside of the plate, rims and all. A cooking surface cannot be larger than the object it sits on; 270 is about 32% more than the outside footprint. Either the dimension fields are wrong or the 270 is. The listing does not explain the “12″” either. Plan around the 16.61 by 12.28 inches you can measure for, and treat the cooking area as somewhat less than 204 square inches.
The material is the most care-free here. “Porcelain-coated cast iron provides steady heat and natural nonstick performance, backed by rust-resistant durability.” No seasoning: “Set up in 15 seconds or less with no seasoning or prep required.” And unusually for a coated plate, it claims to be “Built to handle metal spatulas and scrapers without chipping the surface or wearing out.” That is a strong claim for porcelain, and it comes with a 1 Year Limited warranty, which most plates here do not state at all.
What to weigh. It is sold by Amazon.com and ranks #18 in Griddles and #26,919 overall. Of the plates that sit on top of the grates rather than replacing one, it is the only one with a stated warranty. The weight is not stated. If you want a half-grill griddle for eggs and smash burgers without measuring for a full insert, this is the one to start with.
Pros
- Grease slot feeds the grill’s own system
- Sold by Amazon.com
- 1 Year Limited warranty stated
- Porcelain-coated cast iron, no seasoning
- Metal-utensil safe, stated
- Small enough to leave grates free beside it
Cons
- 270 sq in claim exceeds its 16.61 x 12.28 in outside
- “12″” in the claim is unexplained
- No grill models named
- Weight not stated
- Grease slot must line up with your grill
- Smallest outside area of the ten
Best for: A first griddle for any gas grill, used on one side of the grates, with no full insert to measure for.
3. Weber Rust-Resistant Griddle Insert, Model 6787 — Best Model-Specific Fit

Built for named Weber grills and build years, with a maker’s 2 Years warranty and Amazon.com as seller.
Key Specifications
| Fit as stated | Spirit 4-burner gas grills made since 2025; Spirit and Spirit II 3-burner, 2016–2024; Searwood pellet grills |
|---|---|
| Coverage | Converts the grill’s entire grilling surface, stated |
| Size field | 22.7 x 17.3 x 1.2 in |
| Dimension fields | 25.6 L x 19.9 W x 2.8 H in |
| Material | Carbon steel |
| Seasoning | Pre-seasoned, ready to use |
| Grease | Integrates with the grill’s collection system; rimmed edges |
| Weight | 21.8 pounds |
| Warranty | 2 Years |
| Seller | Amazon.com |
| Best Sellers Rank | #17,432 overall; #9 in Griddles |
Why We Recommend It
This is the fit statement a measuring tape cannot beat: a list of grills. “This Weber Outdoor Griddle Insert fits Spirit 4-burner gas grills manufactured since 2025, Spirit and Spirit II 3-burner gas grills manufactured from 2016-2024, and Searwood pellet grills.” If your grill is one of those, you do not need to measure anything. You need to know your model and its build year, both of which are on the grill’s data label. If your grill is not on the list, the listing gives you nothing to go on, and you should not assume it fits.
It is designed to fill the cook box, not sit on one side. “Griddle insert was specifically engineered to convert your grill’s entire grilling surface into a full-sized griddle.” That is a different idea from the 17 by 13 inch plates, which leave grates free. With this in place the grill is a flat top. The grease is handled the Weber way: “Effective grease management optimized to integrate into your grill’s existing collection system”, with rimmed edges to keep food and oil on the plate.
The dimensions disagree with each other. The size field says 22.7 by 17.3 by 1.2 inches; the length, width and height fields say 25.6 by 19.9 by 2.8. By our arithmetic, that is about 392.7 square inches on the first set and about 509.4 on the second. The larger set may describe the packaging or the outside of the rims; the listing does not say. For a model-specific insert this matters less, because fit is guaranteed by the model list rather than by inches. But if you want to know your cooking area, the listing gives two answers.
The name says rust-resistant; the bullet says carbon steel. “Durable carbon steel construction of this griddle helps deliver and retain even heat.” Carbon steel is the same family of material as the Hisencn’s, and it is pre-seasoned rather than coated: “pre-seasoned and ready to use right out of the box”. The listing does not explain what makes it rust-resistant beyond that seasoning. Expect to dry and oil it after use like any seasoned steel. It claims a “thick material design that avoids warping”, and weighs 21.8 pounds, close to the Uniflasy’s cast iron.
What to weigh. It is sold by Amazon.com, with a 2 Years warranty, and ranks #9 in Griddles and #17,432 overall. It is the priciest plate on the page. The Arribueno also names Weber Spirit 300 Series 3-burner grills, but it is a plate that sits on the grates; this one fills the cook box and drains into the grill’s own system. On the smaller of its two sizes it gives 392.7 square inches by our arithmetic, less than the 25 by 16 plates. The storage bag is “sold separately”. What the step up buys is a guaranteed fit and a maker’s warranty on a named grill; if you own one of those grills, it is the safest choice here.
Pros
- Named Weber grills and build years
- Fills the entire grilling surface
- Grease routes into the grill’s own system
- Pre-seasoned carbon steel, ready to use
- 2 Years warranty; sold by Amazon.com
- #9 in Griddles
Cons
- The highest price on the page
- Useless on grills not listed
- Size field and dimension fields disagree
- Rust-resistance not explained
- Storage bag sold separately
- 21.8 pounds to lift
Best for: Owners of a Weber Spirit or Spirit II 3-burner from 2016–2024, a Spirit 4-burner from 2025, or a Searwood.
4. Utheer 25 x 16 Pre-Seasoned Nonstick Cast Iron Griddle for Gas and Charcoal — Most Popular

The best-selling plate on the page, sold as universal, with no handle length and spec fields that read one inch.
Key Specifications
| Cooking surface | 25 x 16 in, stated |
|---|---|
| Size field | 25 x 2.6 x 16 in |
| Dimension fields | 1.0 x 1.0 x 1.0 in (placeholder values) |
| Fit as stated | “Universal design fits most grills”; no grill named |
| Material | Thick pre-seasoned cast iron with nonstick coating |
| Base | Three reinforced support ridges |
| Handles | Detachable; length not stated |
| Grease | Built-in grease trough |
| Warranty | Not stated |
| Seller | Utheer Direct |
| Best Sellers Rank | #6,295 overall; #3 in Griddles |
Why We Recommend It
This is the plate most buyers on this page choose. It ranks #3 in Griddles and #6,295 overall, the best rank of the ten, a fraction ahead of the Uniflasy. It is the same 25 by 16 inch surface, and it says far less about fit. “Its universal design fits most grills, making it the perfect companion for camping, tailgating, family gatherings, and backyard BBQs.” No burner count, no grill named, no clear-space figure.
The detachable handles are the useful detail, and the missing one. The listing lists “Detachable Handles: Convenient side handles make it easy to lift, carry, or store.” Detachable matters for fit: if the plate’s 25 inches go in but the handles do not, you may be able to cook with them off. But the listing never says how far the handles reach, or whether the plate is meant to be used without them. Compare the Uniflasy, which tells you its handles add about 2.1 inches in total. Here you will have to measure the plate when it arrives, before it goes on the grill.
The spec table is no help. The length, width and height fields all read 1.0 inches, which are plainly placeholders. The size field reads “25″ x 2.6″ x 16″”, which suggests a plate 2.6 inches high including its rim, the same height as the QuliMetal and Hisencn. No weight is given. For a cast iron plate of 400 square inches by our arithmetic, that is a real omission: you will be lifting it off a hot grill.
What to weigh. It is sold by Utheer Direct. No warranty is stated. If it is the plate you want, measure the inside of your grill at grate level and assume you need more than 25 inches; the Uniflasy, at the same surface size, says 27.1. If you can live with the handles off, the detachable design gives you a little more room to work with.
Pros
- Best rank on the page: #3 in Griddles
- 25 x 16 in surface, about 400 sq in (our arithmetic)
- Detachable handles
- Three reinforced support ridges
- Built-in grease trough
- Polished edges
Cons
- No handle length or clear-space figure
- Length, width and height fields read 1.0 in
- Weight not stated
- Seasoned and coated, care unclear
- Warranty not stated
- No grill named
Best for: A large-grill owner who wants the most-bought 25 by 16 plate and will measure it, handles off and on, before first use.
5. QuliMetal 25 x 16 Inch NanoCeramic Cast Iron Griddle for Gas Grills — Highest Stated Heat Limit

The same 25 by 16 inches as the Uniflasy, sold as fitting 90% of grills where the Uniflasy asks for five burners.
Key Specifications
| Cooking surface | 25 x 16 in |
|---|---|
| Size field | 25 x 16 x 2.6 in |
| Fit as stated | “Pre-tested to fit Weber Genesis, Charbroil, Nexgrill, and 90%” of grills |
| Material | Cast iron with nano-crystalline ceramic coating |
| Heat limit | 550°F safe, stated |
| Coating | Food-grade, PFOA/PFAS-free |
| Base | Reinforced crossbar |
| Grease | Widened grease trough |
| Warranty | Not stated |
| Seller | QuliMetal Direct |
| Best Sellers Rank | #17,881 overall; #10 in Griddles |
Why We Recommend It
This listing makes the boldest fit claim on the page. “Measuring 25″x16″, this griddle top for gas grill is engineered for universal compatibility—pre-tested to fit Weber Genesis, Charbroil, Nexgrill, and 90% of gas/charcoal grills on the market.” The Uniflasy, the same 25 by 16 inches, recommends a 5-burner or larger grill and says a grill with 25 inches of clear length may not take it. Both cannot be a safe guide to your grill. The QuliMetal gives no handle length and no clear-space figure, and does not say which Genesis or Charbroil models were tested. Read “90%” as marketing and measure.
The size claim is relative to nothing. “20% Larger Surface: Cook for a Crowd in One Go – Bigger than standard griddles, it fits 8 burgers + 6 eggs + 3 sausages at once.” No standard is named. Three other plates on this page share its exact 25 by 16 inch surface, so against them it is not larger at all. The food count is the more useful number: it tells you the seller’s idea of a full plate.
It is one of only two listings with a heat limit. “Food-grade, PFOA/PFAS-free coating stays safe even at 550°F (hot enough for searing steaks).” The EasiBBQ is the other, at 280°C, about 536°F by our arithmetic. The other eight plates give no ceiling. A gas grill on full with the lid down can run hot, and a coated plate has a coating to protect, so a stated limit is useful information. Keep an eye on the grill’s thermometer when the lid is closed.
What to weigh. It is sold by QuliMetal Direct and ranks #10 in Griddles and #17,881 overall. No weight and no warranty stated. If you want a coated 25 by 16 plate with a printed heat ceiling, this is the one; just do not let the 90% stand in for a tape measure.
Pros
- Stated 550°F limit, one of two on the page
- PFOA/PFAS-free coating stated
- 25 x 16 in surface
- Reinforced crossbar against warping
- Widened grease trough
- Food capacity stated: 8 burgers + 6 eggs + 3 sausages
Cons
- “90%” of grills is not a measurement
- No handle length or clear-space figure
- “20% larger” than an unnamed standard
- “30% better” nonstick, no baseline
- Weight and warranty not stated
- Tested Genesis and Charbroil models not named
Best for: A large-grill owner who wants a coated 25 by 16 plate with a stated heat ceiling, and has measured for it.
6. Arribueno 23 x 16 Ceramic Coated Griddle for Gas Grill, Universal and Nonstick — Most Grills Named

Two inches shorter than the 25-inch plates, and the only universal listing that names grills by series.
Key Specifications
| Cooking surface | 23 x 16 in |
|---|---|
| Size field | 23 x 16 x 2.6 in |
| Fit as stated | Most 3/4-burner gas grills; names Weber Spirit I and II 300 and Genesis I and II 300 3-burner, Charbroil Performance and Commercial 4-burner, Nexgrill 3/4-burner, Dyna-Glo 4-burner |
| Material | Nonstick-coated steel; ceramic coating |
| Handles | Detachable; length not stated |
| Grease | Grease trough; raised edges |
| Also for | Charcoal grills and indoor gas stoves |
| Warranty | Not stated |
| Seller | Mastore |
| Best Sellers Rank | #84,095 overall; #85 in Griddles |
Why We Recommend It
This is the universal plate that comes closest to a model list. “Measuring 23″×16″, this large flat top griddle is designed to fit most 3/4-burner gas grills, including Weber Spirit I & II 300 Series 3 Burner Grills, Weber Genesis I & II 300 Series 3 Burner Grills, Charbroil Performance and Commercial Series 4-Burner Grills, Nexgrill 3/4-Burner Grills, and Dyna-Glo 4-Burner models.” Series names are not model numbers, and the listing still says “Please measure your grill or stovetop to ensure proper fit before purchase”. But it is far more specific than “most grills”.
Two inches make the difference. At 23 by 16 inches it is the one large universal plate sized below 25 inches. If the Uniflasy is right that a 25 by 16 plate needs about 27.1 inches with handles, a 23-inch plate with similar handles would need roughly 25, and its handles are “detachable”, so you may be able to take them off to cook. The listing does not state the handle length, so measure; but this is the plate to look at if your grill came up just short for the 25-inch ones. By our arithmetic it gives 368 square inches, 32 fewer than the 25 by 16 plates.
It names the same grills as two dedicated inserts. Weber’s own Rust-Resistant insert fits Spirit and Spirit II 3-burner grills from 2016 to 2024. The Arribueno names Weber Spirit I and II 300 Series 3-burner grills too, as a universal plate rather than a dedicated insert. The trade is that the Weber fills the cook box and routes grease into the grill’s own system by design, with a 2 Years warranty; the Arribueno is a plate on top of the grates, with no warranty stated.
The material is steel, not cast iron. The title says “Ceramic Coated”; the bullet says “thick, nonstick-coated steel, delivering superior durability and resistance to bending or warping under high heat”. It positions the ceramic coat against Teflon: “Unlike Teflon-coated alternatives, this grill griddle uses a healthier ceramic coating, ensuring superior heat resistance without peeling or rusting.” No heat limit is given to back up “superior heat resistance”. Steel will be lighter than cast iron of the same size, but no weight is stated.
What to weigh. It is sold by Mastore. Its 368 square inches match its stated dimensions, which the Charbroil’s area claim does not. It is the lowest-ranked plate here, #85 in Griddles and #84,095 overall, so few buyers have chosen it. If you own one of the grills it names and want a large plate without a dedicated insert, it is the sensible alternative to the Weber.
Pros
- Names grills by series, unlike other universal plates
- 23 x 16 in, 368 sq in (our arithmetic)
- Area matches its stated dimensions
- Detachable handles
- Ceramic coating, no Teflon
- Grease trough and raised edges
Cons
- Lowest rank on the page
- Handle length not stated
- No heat limit despite heat-resistance claim
- Weight and warranty not stated
- Series names, not model numbers
- Third-party seller
Best for: Owners of the 3- and 4-burner grills it names who want a large coated plate without paying for a dedicated insert.

Why We Recommend It
This is an insert in the strict sense: it replaces your grates. “Replacement for Weber Genesis 300 Series Grill Grate or Cast Iron Griddle. Interchangeable use for grate 7566, 7524, 83030, 82184, 65937.” It is sold for “Weber Genesis 300 series grill (model years 2007-2016)”, and the listing then prints dozens of Weber model numbers across three bullets. If your Genesis 300 is in that window, find the model number on its data label and look for it in the list; that is a better fit check than any tape measure.
It is the largest surface on the page, on one reading. The size field says 25 by 19.4 by 3 inches, about 485 square inches by our arithmetic. The dimension fields say 19.5 by 25.8 by 2.0, about 503.1. The two sets are close, unlike the Weber Rust-Resistant’s, and either way this is more cooking surface than any universal plate here. Its weight field reads about 24.3 pounds, the heaviest stated on the page.
The heat rules are the strictest here, and they matter on a gas grill. “For optimal cooking, the temperature should not exceed 280°C. It must not be heated dry—never heat it empty or without food/oil.” 280°C is about 536°F, our arithmetic, a little below the QuliMetal’s 550°F. The second instruction is the harder one to live with: most people preheat a grill empty with the lid down. With this insert, oil it before you light, keep the lid open or watch the thermometer, and do not leave it running bare. The listing does not explain why, but it is the only one here to forbid an empty preheat.
The material is barely described. The package is a “Full-Size Coating Insert Flat Top Grill Griddle” with “excellent thermal conductivity”. It does not say whether the base is cast iron, steel or aluminium, or what the coating is. The 280°C ceiling and the no-dry-heat rule suggest a coating that needs protecting, which is consistent with a nonstick finish, but that is our reading, not the listing’s.
What to weigh. It is sold by EasiBBQ and ranks #19 in Griddles and #27,010 overall. No warranty stated. It is a third-party part; if you own a 2007–2016 Genesis 300, it is the only plate here built for your exact cook box. If you do not, skip it.
Pros
- Fits named Genesis 300 models, 2007–2016
- Replaces grates by part number
- Largest surface: 25 x 19.4 in (size field)
- Two dimension sets broadly agree
- Model numbers printed in full
- Stated heat limit, 280°C
Cons
- Must not be heated dry or empty
- Base metal and coating not stated
- Useless outside its model list
- Heaviest weight stated, about 24.3 pounds
- Warranty not stated
- Third-party seller
Best for: Owners of a 2007–2016 Weber Genesis 300 series grill who want to swap the grates for a full-size flat top.
8. Weber Genesis II Griddle Insert, Porcelain-Enameled Cast Iron, Model 7599 — Best Half-Grill Insert

Weber’s own cast iron insert for Genesis II grills, replacing one grate and draining into the grill’s own system.
Key Specifications
| Fit as stated | Replaces 1 grate on Genesis II or II LX 3, 4 and 6 burner grills |
|---|---|
| Does not fit | 2022 Genesis gas grills |
| Size field | 22 x 16 x 3 in |
| Dimension fields | 18.9 L x 13.2 H x 2.1 W in |
| Material | Porcelain-enamelled cast iron |
| Grease | Angled surface drains to a reservoir, then to the cook box between the Flavorizer Bars |
| Care | Hand wash |
| Weight | 15.0 pounds |
| Warranty | Two (2) years against defects |
| Seller | Amazon.com |
| Best Sellers Rank | #83,130 overall; #84 in Griddles |
Why We Recommend It
This is a part, not a plate. “COMPATIBLE GRILLS: Replaces 1 grate on any of the Genesis II or II LX 3, 4, & 6 burner grills.” You lift out one cooking grate and drop this in, so half or less of the grill becomes a griddle and the rest stays a grill. And Weber is unusually direct about what it does not fit: “DOES NOT FIT: 2022 Genesis Gas Grills”. That one line is more useful than any “universal” on the page, because it tells you a near-identical name is not enough.
The grease system is the best-integrated here. “Angled cooking surface drains grease into reservoir which then filters it to the cook box between the Flavorizer Bars.” The plate is built to send fat where the grill already expects it. Plates sitting on top of the grates, with a trough at one edge, can only collect fat or tip it somewhere; this one is designed for a specific grill’s drainage path.
The material is the classic one. “Porcelain-Enameled Cast Iron for superior heat retention and distribution while preventing sticking.” Porcelain enamel needs no seasoning, but it is not a surface for hard scraping, and the care line is simply “Hand wash to keep clean”. At 15.0 pounds it is lighter than the full-grill inserts, because it covers less of the grill.
The size fields do not agree. The size field reads 22 by 16 by 3 inches, about 352 square inches by our arithmetic. The other fields read 18.9 long, 13.2 high and 2.1 wide, which looks like the same plate measured as 18.9 by 13.2 by 2.1 inches with the labels shuffled, or about 249.5 square inches. For a one-grate insert, the smaller set is the more plausible description of the cooking surface, but the listing does not settle it. As with every model-specific insert, fit is decided by the model list, not the inches.
What to weigh. It is sold by Amazon.com, with a two-year warranty against defects. It ranks #84 in Griddles and #83,130 overall, near the bottom of this page, which is what you would expect of a part that fits one grill family. For older Genesis 300 grills, the EasiBBQ insert is the equivalent. If you own a Genesis II or II LX made before 2022 and want half a griddle and half a grill, this is the plate made for the job.
Pros
- Made by Weber for Genesis II and II LX
- States plainly that it does not fit 2022 Genesis
- Grease drains into the grill’s own system
- Porcelain-enamelled cast iron, no seasoning
- Leaves the rest of the grill as a grill
- Two-year warranty; sold by Amazon.com
Cons
- Fits one grill family only
- Replaces only 1 grate
- Size fields disagree
- Hand wash only
- Enamel not for hard scraping
- #84 in Griddles, little bought
Best for: Owners of a pre-2022 Weber Genesis II or II LX who want a griddle on one side and grates on the other.
9. Hisencn 17 x 13 Carbon Steel Griddle for Gas Grill and Stove Top — Best Uncoated Plate

Bare, pre-seasoned carbon steel with no synthetic coating, sized to share a grill with its own grates.
Key Specifications
| Cooking surface | 17 x 13 in |
|---|---|
| Size field | 17 x 13 x 2.6 in |
| Fit as stated | Many Weber, Blackstone, Char-Broil, Nexgrill, Kenmore and other 3–5 burner gas grills; also gas stove tops |
| Material | Thick carbon steel |
| Seasoning | Pre-seasoned; no PFOA, PTFE or synthetic coating |
| Grease | Raised side walls; built-in grease channel |
| Weight | Not stated |
| Warranty | Not stated |
| Seller | BAR.B.Q.S |
| Best Sellers Rank | #52,531 overall; #40 in Griddles |
Why We Recommend It
This is the only universal plate here with no coating at all. “The pre-seasoned surface helps reduce sticking and develops a better natural cooking layer with use. No PFOA, PTFE, or synthetic coating.” Bare carbon steel behaves like a wok or a cast iron pan: it gets better as you cook on it and it rusts if you leave it wet. No coating means no coating to chip, no heat ceiling to respect and no worry about a metal scraper. It also means you oil it after every clean. For more plates in this material, see our carbon steel griddle guide.
The fit claim is wide and honest about its limits. “Compatible with many Weber, Blackstone, Char-Broil, Nexgrill, Kenmore, and other 3–5 burner gas grills. Please measure your grill surface before ordering.” At 17 by 13 inches, 221 square inches by our arithmetic, it is meant to sit on part of a grill, not fill it. On most 3-burner grills it will leave grates free beside it, which is the point of a plate this size: eggs on the steel, sausages on the grates.
It doubles as a stove-top griddle. “Designed as a universal griddle for grill and gas stove top use.” A 17 by 13 inch plate will span two burners on many gas hobs, which makes it the most versatile shape on the page if you want one griddle indoors and out. If indoor use matters most, compare our stovetop griddle guide for gas stoves, where plates are judged on hob fit.
What to weigh. It is sold by BAR.B.Q.S. No weight and no warranty stated. It ranks #40 in Griddles and #52,531 overall. If you want an uncoated plate that will season like a good pan and move between grill and hob, this is the one.
Pros
- No PFOA, PTFE or synthetic coating
- Pre-seasoned carbon steel, improves with use
- Works on gas grills and gas stove tops
- 17 x 13 in leaves grates free beside it
- Raised walls and grease channel
- Burner range stated with a measuring warning
Cons
- Must be dried and oiled to prevent rust
- Weight not stated
- Warranty not stated
- Brands named, not grill models
- Handle details not given
- Third-party seller
Best for: A cook who wants one bare-steel griddle for both the gas grill and the gas hob, and is happy to season it.
10. Skyflame Stainless Steel Griddle Flat Top Plate, 17 x 13 — Lightest Plate

The only stainless plate here and by far the lightest, sold with a nonstick claim stainless rarely earns.
Key Specifications
| Cooking surface | 17 x 13 in (bullet) |
|---|---|
| Size field | 17 x 12.8 x 2.2 in |
| Fit as stated | “Universal Compatibility”: charcoal grills, gas grills, outdoor setups |
| Material | Restaurant grade stainless steel |
| Sides | Wavy hollow side panels for ventilation |
| Base | Underside cross-bracing |
| Grease | Built-in grease well; sidewalls |
| Weight | 6.44 pounds |
| Warranty | Not stated |
| Seller | Skyflame Outdoor |
| Best Sellers Rank | #41,108 overall; #30 in Griddles |
Why We Recommend It
This is the odd one out on material. “Restaurant grade stainless steel, heat resistant, non stick and easy to clean.” Every other plate here is cast iron or carbon steel, seasoned or coated. Stainless will not rust the way bare carbon steel does and needs no seasoning. The listing’s “non stick” is the claim to treat carefully: it names no coating, and bare stainless is not generally thought of as a nonstick surface. Expect to use oil and to let food release before you move it.
It is the lightest plate by a wide margin. The weight field gives 6.44 pounds. The Uniflasy’s field gives about 21.9, about 3.4 times as much by our arithmetic, and the Weber Genesis II is 15.0. If you lift the plate on and off the grill every time, or carry it to a campsite, that difference is the main reason to choose this one. Light plates heat up and cool down faster than heavy cast iron, which the listing does not discuss but which follows from the weight.
Its size is 17 by 13 or 17 by 12.8, depending on the field. The bullet says “Measures 17 inches by 13 inches”; the size field says 17 by 12.8 by 2.2 inches. By our arithmetic that is 221 or 217.6 square inches, a difference too small to matter for fit. Like the Hisencn, it is a part-grill plate that leaves grates free beside it on most gas grills.
What to weigh. It is sold by Skyflame Outdoor and ranks #30 in Griddles and #41,108 overall. No warranty stated. It shares the Hisencn’s nominal 17 by 13 inch size; choose between them on material. Stainless for low upkeep and low weight, carbon steel for a surface that seasons.
Pros
- 6.44 pounds, the lightest stated here
- Stainless steel will not need seasoning
- Leaves grates free on most gas grills
- Grease well and sidewalls
- Underside cross-bracing
- Side handles for moving it
Cons
- “Non stick” claimed with no coating named
- 17 x 13 in bullet vs 17 x 12.8 in field
- No grill models named
- Warranty not stated
- Third-party seller
- Light plate holds less heat than cast iron
Best for: A cook who lifts the griddle on and off often, or takes it camping, and wants no seasoning to maintain.
Plate Size Is Not Grill Size
Every universal listing here sells its plate by the cooking surface: 25 by 16, 23 by 16, 17 by 13. That is the number you cook on. It is not the number your grill has to hold. Handles, rims and grease troughs all add to the outside, and only one listing tells you by how much. Here is every size stated on the page, field by field, with areas as our arithmetic.
| Griddle | Surface as sold | Other size fields | Area (ours) | Outside length stated? |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Uniflasy | 25 x 16 in; 400 sq in stated | 25 x 16 x 3 | 400 sq in; 433.6 with handles | Yes: about 27.1 in |
| Utheer | 25 x 16 in | 25 x 2.6 x 16; 1.0 x 1.0 x 1.0 | 400 sq in | No; handles detachable |
| QuliMetal | 25 x 16 in | 25 x 16 x 2.6 | 400 sq in | No |
| Arribueno | 23 x 16 in | 23 x 16 x 2.6 | 368 sq in | No; handles detachable |
| Hisencn | 17 x 13 in | 17 x 13 x 2.6 | 221 sq in | No |
| Skyflame | 17 x 13 in | 17 x 12.8 x 2.2 | 221 or 217.6 sq in | No |
| Charbroil | 270 sq in claimed | 16.61 x 12.28 x 2.39 | About 204 sq in outside | Effectively: 16.61 in |
| EasiBBQ (Genesis 300) | Full-size insert | 25 x 19.4 x 3; 19.5 x 25.8 x 2.0 | 485 or 503.1 sq in | Fit by model |
| Weber Rust-Resistant | Entire grilling surface | 22.7 x 17.3 x 1.2; 25.6 x 19.9 x 2.8 | 392.7 or 509.4 sq in | Fit by model |
| Weber Genesis II | Replaces 1 grate | 22 x 16 x 3; 18.9 x 13.2 x 2.1 | 352 or 249.5 sq in | Fit by model |
The handles are the hidden inches. The Uniflasy says its handles add about 1.05 inches at each end, 2.1 in total, turning a 25-inch plate into a 27.1-inch object. Three other universal plates mention handles, the Utheer, Arribueno and Skyflame, and none of them says how far they reach. Two, the Utheer and Arribueno, have detachable handles, which may let you squeeze a plate in and cook with them off. Assume every handle adds length until the listing or a tape measure says otherwise.
One area claim cannot be true as printed. The Charbroil claims 270 square inches. Its length and width fields, 16.61 by 12.28 inches, give about 204 square inches for the whole outside of the plate. The cooking area claimed is about 32% larger than the plate’s own footprint. We cannot tell from the listing which figure is wrong, so plan for the dimensions you can measure.
Three listings give two sizes each. The Weber Rust-Resistant’s two sets differ by about 116.7 square inches; the Weber Genesis II’s by about 102.5; the EasiBBQ’s by about 18.1. On model-specific inserts the gap matters less, because fit is set by the model list. But if you are comparing cooking area across the page, the honest answer for the two Webers is a range.

Burner Counts Contradict Each Other
Most universal listings reach for a burner count to describe fit. Put them side by side and they stop making sense, because burner count says nothing about how wide or deep a grill’s firebox is. Here is every burner and brand claim on the page.
| Griddle | Surface | Burners or grills named | Clear space stated |
|---|---|---|---|
| Uniflasy | 25 x 16 in | 5-burner or larger recommended; brand list in last bullet | 27.1 x 16 in |
| QuliMetal | 25 x 16 in | Weber Genesis, Charbroil, Nexgrill, “90%” of grills | None |
| Utheer | 25 x 16 in | “Fits most grills” | None |
| Arribueno | 23 x 16 in | 3/4-burner; named Weber, Charbroil, Nexgrill, Dyna-Glo series | None |
| Hisencn | 17 x 13 in | 3–5 burner; Weber, Blackstone, Char-Broil, Nexgrill, Kenmore | None |
| Skyflame | 17 x 13 in | “Universal Compatibility” | None |
| Charbroil | 16.61 x 12.28 in outside | Any gas grill grates | None |
The same plate size gets opposite advice. Three plates share a 25 by 16 inch surface. One says five burners or more and 27.1 inches of clear space. One says “90%” of grills. One says “most grills”. The Uniflasy’s caution is the only one backed by a number. We cannot tell from the listings whether the QuliMetal and Utheer have shorter handles; neither says.
The 3-burner grill is claimed by everyone. The 17 by 13 inch Hisencn names 3–5 burner grills. The 23 by 16 inch Arribueno names 3-burner Weber Spirit and Genesis 300 grills. The QuliMetal names the Weber Genesis for a 25 by 16 plate. A grill cannot have room for every one of those with the same margins. Burners in a 3-burner grill can be packed tight or spaced wide, and a burner count tells you nothing about depth, which is where a 16-inch plate meets the lid hinge or the warming rack.
Even the careful listing contradicts itself. The Uniflasy’s last bullet names “Weber Spirit Genesis, Nexgrill, Charbroil, Camp Chef”, a brand list that sits oddly next to its own 5-burner recommendation. Brand names cover grills of every size. The only fit claims on this page you can rely on without measuring are the three model lists, and the only universal claim you can measure against is the Uniflasy’s 27.1 by 16 inches.
How to Measure Your Gas Grill for a Griddle
No listing here knows your grill. Ten minutes with a tape measure does. Do this with the grill cold and the lid open.
Width at grate level. Measure from the left inside wall of the firebox to the right inside wall, at the height the griddle will sit: on top of the grates for a plate, at grate-support level for a drop-in insert. Measure at the front, the middle and the back, and use the smallest figure. Fireboxes often narrow at the front lip or where the lid hinges.
Depth at grate level. Measure from the front inside wall to the back inside wall, again at the smallest point. Watch for a warming rack, its supports, a rear heat shield or a lip that juts in. A 16-inch-deep plate needs 16 clear inches, plus room to lift it out.
Add the handles. For a plate with fixed handles, add their reach to the length. The Uniflasy states about 1.05 inches each side; for the others, measure the plate when it arrives, before you heat it. Detachable handles can come off for cooking if the plate alone fits.
Check the height under the lid. The plates that sit on top of the grates stand 2.2 to 3.0 inches tall on their stated fields. If you want to close the lid, measure from the grate to the underside of the lid or the warming rack. None of the ten listings says whether its plate can be used with the lid closed.
Look at the grates. The Uniflasy rules out “curved grill grates”. A plate needs a flat, level surface underneath it; if your grates are warped or uneven, it will rock and pool oil at one corner.
Find the grease path. Note which way your grill drains fat, to the front, back or centre, and make sure the plate’s trough, slot or well faces somewhere safe. The Charbroil and both Webers are designed to feed the grill’s own system; the others collect fat on the plate.
For a model-specific insert, read the label, not the tape. Find the model number and build year on the grill’s data label and check it against the listing. The Weber Rust-Resistant fits Spirit 3-burner grills from 2016–2024 and Spirit 4-burner grills since 2025; the Genesis II insert does not fit 2022 Genesis grills; the EasiBBQ covers Genesis 300 grills from 2007–2016 and prints the model numbers.
Compare with your grill’s stated cooking area. Many grills quote a primary cooking area in square inches. Divide the plate’s area by it to see how much of the grill becomes griddle. As an example of the arithmetic, a 400 square inch plate on a grill quoting 450 square inches would cover about 89% of it, leaving almost nothing for grates; a 221 square inch plate would cover about 49%, leaving half the grill free.

Four Finishes, Two Heat Limits
The material decides how you cook on a plate, clean it and store it. These ten use four broad finishes, and several listings describe theirs in two ways at once.
| Griddle | Base metal | Finish as stated | Heat limit | Weight |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Charbroil | Cast iron | Porcelain-coated; metal-utensil safe | Not stated | Not stated |
| Weber Genesis II | Cast iron | Porcelain-enamelled | Not stated | 15.0 lb |
| Uniflasy | Cast iron | Nonstick-coated; also “Pre-Seasoned” | Not stated | About 21.9 lb |
| Utheer | Cast iron | Pre-seasoned with nonstick coating | Not stated | Not stated |
| QuliMetal | Cast iron | Nano-ceramic coating | 550°F | Not stated |
| Arribueno | Steel | Ceramic nonstick coating | Not stated | Not stated |
| EasiBBQ | Not stated | “Coating Insert” | 280°C (about 536°F, ours) | About 24.3 lb |
| Weber Rust-Resistant | Carbon steel | Pre-seasoned | Not stated | 21.8 lb |
| Hisencn | Carbon steel | Pre-seasoned; no synthetic coating | Not stated | Not stated |
| Skyflame | Stainless steel | Bare; sold as “non stick” | Not stated | 6.44 lb |
Coated plates are the majority, and only two give a ceiling. Seven plates describe a nonstick, ceramic, porcelain or unspecified coating. The QuliMetal states 550°F and the EasiBBQ 280°C, and the EasiBBQ adds that it must never be heated dry. A gas grill with the lid closed can exceed what many coatings like. If you buy a coated plate with no stated limit, cook with the lid open until you know how hot your grill runs with it in place.
Seasoned steel needs a routine. The Weber Rust-Resistant and Hisencn are pre-seasoned carbon steel. They tolerate scrapers and high heat, and they rust if put away wet. Dry them on the grill, wipe on a thin coat of oil, and cover them; a griddle cover helps if the grill lives outdoors.
Two listings describe one plate two ways. The Uniflasy is both “Nonstick-Coated” and “Pre-Seasoned”; the Utheer is “pre-seasoned cast iron with a durable nonstick coating”. Coated surfaces dislike abrasive scrapers and harsh scouring; seasoned ones need oiling. Until the seller says which, care for them as coated.
Weight is stated on only five. From 6.44 pounds on the stainless Skyflame to about 24.3 on the EasiBBQ. A full-size cast iron or thick steel plate weighs over 20 pounds and is hot for a long time after you turn the burners off. Plan where it will cool before you lift it.
Popularity Favours the Biggest Universal Plates
Star ratings were not captured for this roundup, so the only popularity measure here is Amazon’s Best Sellers Rank, as returned on 5 October 2026. Ranks move constantly and measure recent sales, not quality or fit. Read the order, not the precise numbers.
| Griddle | Overall rank | Rank in Griddles | Fit stated as |
|---|---|---|---|
| Utheer 25 x 16 | #6,295 | #3 | “Fits most grills” |
| Uniflasy 25 x 16 | #6,544 | #4 | 27.1 x 16 in; 5+ burners |
| Weber Rust-Resistant | #17,432 | #9 | Named Spirit models |
| QuliMetal 25 x 16 | #17,881 | #10 | “90%” of grills |
| Charbroil Performance Series | #26,919 | #18 | Any grates |
| EasiBBQ Genesis 300 | #27,010 | #19 | Named Genesis models |
| Skyflame 17 x 13 | #41,108 | #30 | “Universal” |
| Hisencn 17 x 13 | #52,531 | #40 | 3–5 burners |
| Weber Genesis II | #83,130 | #84 | Named Genesis II models |
| Arribueno 23 x 16 | #84,095 | #85 | Named grill series |
The two best-selling plates are both 25 by 16 inches. The Utheer and Uniflasy sit at #3 and #4 in Griddles, well clear of the rest. Buyers are choosing the largest universal surface. That is the plate most likely not to fit, and the Uniflasy is the only one of the pair that says so. Rank cannot tell you how many were returned for not fitting.
The most specific universal listing is the least bought. The Arribueno names more grills by series than any other plate, and ranks last, #85 in Griddles. Weber’s own Genesis II insert is next to last. Specific fit information does not, on this evidence, sell plates; big numbers do. That is a reason to do the measuring yourself.

Set the marketing aside and the ten fall into four groups by what they put on your grill: a part-grill plate, a large universal plate, a grate-replacing insert and a full-grill insert. Areas are our arithmetic, using the cooking surface each listing names (and the smaller figure where two disagree).
| Griddle | Area used (ours) | Coverage | Warranty |
|---|---|---|---|
| Charbroil | 270 claimed; about 204 outside | Part of the grill, on the grates | 1 Year Limited |
| Skyflame | 221 | Part of the grill, on the grates | Not stated |
| Hisencn | 221 | Part of the grill, on the grates | Not stated |
| Arribueno | 368 | Most of a 3/4-burner grill, on the grates | Not stated |
| Uniflasy | 400 | Most of a large grill, on the grates | Not stated |
| Utheer | 400 | Most of a large grill, on the grates | Not stated |
| QuliMetal | 400 | Most of a large grill, on the grates | Not stated |
| Weber Genesis II | 249.5 to 352 | Replaces 1 grate, Genesis II and II LX | Two years |
| EasiBBQ | 485 | Replaces the grates, Genesis 300, 2007–2016 | Not stated |
| Weber Rust-Resistant | 392.7 | Entire grilling surface, named Spirit and Searwood grills | 2 Years |
Part-grill plates — Charbroil, Skyflame, Hisencn. Three different ideas. The Charbroil buys a coated cast iron half-grill plate with a warranty and Amazon.com as seller, though its area claim does not add up. The Skyflame and Hisencn buy 17 by 13 inches of stainless or bare carbon steel, plates meant to share the grill with its grates.
Large universal plates — Arribueno, Uniflasy, Utheer, QuliMetal. Stepping up to 23 or 25 inches buys about 147 to 179 more square inches than the 17 by 13 plates, by our arithmetic, and turns most of a grill into a flat top. The Arribueno buys named grill series and two inches of margin. The three 25 by 16 inch cast iron plates share a surface; the listings do not. The Uniflasy buys a stated clear-space figure. The Utheer buys the best rank and detachable handles. The QuliMetal buys a 550°F ceiling and a ceramic coating. If your grill has room, choose the Uniflasy for the information or the QuliMetal for the heat limit.
Grate-replacing inserts — Weber Genesis II, EasiBBQ. Two model-specific inserts for two generations of Weber Genesis. The Weber buys an enamelled half-grill insert with a two-year warranty and a proper grease path; the EasiBBQ buys a full-size grate replacement for 2007–2016 Genesis 300 grills, with strict heat rules.
Full-grill insert — Weber Rust-Resistant. A guaranteed full-grill fit on named Spirit and Searwood grills, pre-seasoned carbon steel and a 2 Years warranty. On its smaller size field it gives 392.7 square inches, slightly less than the 25 by 16 plates.
The biggest step up is the fit guarantee, not the surface. The move to Weber’s own full insert buys no extra cooking area over the large universal plates; it buys the certainty that it will fit and drain properly on the grills it names. You pay for certainty, not surface.

What to Check Before You Buy
Measure the Firebox, Not the Grill Lid
Measure inside the firebox at grate level, wall to wall and front to back, at the narrowest point. The outside of the grill and its lid are always bigger and tell you nothing. Write down both figures before you open a single listing.
Add the Handles to the Plate
The surface in the title is not the plate’s length. The Uniflasy’s handles add about 2.1 inches in total; assume others do something similar until you can measure. Detachable handles, on the Utheer and Arribueno, may let a plate fit that otherwise would not.
Ignore Burner Counts and Percentages
A 25 by 16 plate is sold here as needing five burners and as fitting 90% of grills. A 3-burner grill is named for plates from 17 to 25 inches long. Neither burners nor percentages describe a firebox. Only inches and model numbers do.
Decide Between Half a Grill and a Whole One
A 17 by 13 inch plate, about 221 square inches, leaves grates free for meat on most grills. A 25 by 16 inch plate, 400 square inches, turns most of a grill into a flat top. A full insert like the Weber Rust-Resistant converts the whole grill. Choose by how you cook, then by size.
Match the Finish to Your Scraper
Seasoned carbon steel and porcelain-coated cast iron that claims metal-utensil safety will take a scraper. Ceramic and nonstick coatings generally will not. If you smash burgers with a heavy spatula, the Hisencn, the Weber Rust-Resistant or the Charbroil fit that habit best.
Know the Heat Limit or Keep the Lid Open
Only the QuliMetal, 550°F, and the EasiBBQ, 280°C, state a ceiling. On any coated plate without one, cook with the lid open until you know how hot your grill runs with the plate in, and never heat the EasiBBQ empty.
Check the Model Number for Inserts
For the Weber Rust-Resistant, the Weber Genesis II and the EasiBBQ, fit is decided by model and year. Find both on the grill’s data label. Remember the Genesis II insert’s warning: a 2022 Genesis is not a Genesis II, whatever the name suggests.
Common Mistakes
- Buying by the size in the title. The Uniflasy’s 25-inch plate is about 27.1 inches long with its handles.
- Trusting a burner count. One 25 by 16 plate asks for five burners; another, the same size, claims 90% of grills.
- Measuring the outside of the grill. Only the inside of the firebox at grate level, at its narrowest point, decides fit.
- Taking an area claim on trust. The Charbroil claims 270 sq in on a plate whose own fields give about 204 outside.
- Assuming a similar name fits. Weber’s Genesis II insert states it does not fit 2022 Genesis grills.
- Preheating a coated insert empty. The EasiBBQ says never heat it dry and keep it under 280°C.
- Scraping a coated plate like bare steel. Seven of ten plates are coated; only the Charbroil claims metal-utensil safety.
- Covering the whole grill when you wanted both. A 400 sq in plate leaves little grate; a 221 sq in plate leaves about half on many grills.
Who Should Buy Which
Buy the Uniflasy 25 x 16 if you have measured at least 27.1 by 16 inches of clear space. It is the only universal plate that tells you exactly what it needs, with 400 square inches of surface and the second-best rank here. Care for it as coated until the seller says otherwise.
Buy the Charbroil Performance Series insert if you want a half-grill griddle for the least money. Porcelain-coated cast iron, metal-utensil safe, a 1 Year Limited warranty, sold by Amazon.com. Plan around its 16.61 by 12.28 inch outside, not the 270 square inch claim.
Buy the Weber Rust-Resistant insert if you own a Spirit or Spirit II 3-burner from 2016–2024, a Spirit 4-burner from 2025, or a Searwood. A guaranteed full-grill fit, pre-seasoned carbon steel and a 2 Years warranty. Expect to dry and oil it after use like any seasoned steel.
Buy the Utheer 25 x 16 if you want the most-bought plate and will measure it on arrival. #3 in Griddles, detachable handles, three support ridges. It gives no handle length, so assume you need more than 25 inches.
Buy the QuliMetal 25 x 16 if you want a coated plate with a printed heat ceiling. 550°F, a PFOA/PFAS-free nano-ceramic coat and a reinforced crossbar. Treat “90% of grills” as an invitation to measure.
Buy the Arribueno 23 x 16 if your grill is one of the 3- or 4-burner series it names, or came up short for a 25-inch plate. 368 square inches of ceramic-coated steel, detachable handles, and an area that matches its stated dimensions.
Buy the EasiBBQ insert if you own a 2007–2016 Weber Genesis 300. The largest stated surface on the page, replacing your grates by part number. Never preheat it empty, and keep it under 280°C.
Buy the Weber Genesis II insert if you own a pre-2022 Genesis II or II LX and want half griddle, half grill. Porcelain-enamelled cast iron, grease into the grill’s own system, a two-year warranty.
Buy the Hisencn 17 x 13 if you want bare carbon steel for both the grill and the gas hob. No synthetic coating, pre-seasoned, happy with a scraper. Dry and oil it every time.
Buy the Skyflame 17 x 13 if you lift the plate on and off often or take it camping. 6.44 pounds of stainless steel with no seasoning to maintain. Use oil generously, whatever the listing says about non stick.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the best griddle for a gas grill?
For most large gas grills, the Uniflasy 25 x 16 inch cast iron plate. It is the only universal griddle on this page whose listing tells you how much space it needs: about 27.1 by 16 inches of clear room at grate level, because its handles add about 1.05 inches at each end. It gives 400 square inches of surface and ranks #4 in Griddles. If your grill is smaller, or you want to keep half the grates free, the Charbroil Performance Series insert sits on top of any grates, is porcelain-coated cast iron with a 1 Year Limited warranty, and is sold by Amazon.com. If you own a Weber Spirit or Spirit II 3-burner built from 2016 to 2024, or a Spirit 4-burner built since 2025, Weber’s own Rust-Resistant insert is a guaranteed fit for the whole cooking surface, with a 2 Years warranty. Whichever you choose, measure your firebox before you order.
How do I measure my gas grill for a griddle insert?
With the grill cold and the lid open, measure inside the firebox at the height the griddle will sit. Take the width from the left inside wall to the right, at the front, middle and back, and use the smallest figure. Take the depth from the front inside wall to the back, watching for a warming rack, its supports or a rear lip. Then add the plate’s handles to its length: on the Uniflasy that is about 1.05 inches each side, turning 25 inches into 27.1. If you want to close the lid, measure from the grates to the underside of the lid or warming rack; the plates that sit on top of the grates stand 2.2 to 3.0 inches tall on their stated fields. Check that the grates are flat, and note which way the grill drains grease. For a model-specific insert, ignore the tape and read the model number and build year from the grill’s data label instead.
What is the best griddle plate for gas grill cooking: cast iron, carbon steel or stainless?
It depends on how you cook and clean. Cast iron, used by five plates here, holds heat well and is heavy: the Uniflasy weighs about 21.9 pounds. All five cast iron plates on this page are coated or enamelled, so they need no seasoning but dislike hard scraping, with one exception, the Charbroil, which claims to be metal-utensil safe. Carbon steel, used by the Weber Rust-Resistant and the Hisencn, is pre-seasoned rather than coated; it takes a scraper and high heat, and it rusts if put away wet, so dry and oil it after each use. Stainless, on the Skyflame, is the lightest at 6.44 pounds and needs no seasoning, but bare stainless is not usually a nonstick surface, whatever the listing says, so use oil generously. If you smash burgers with a heavy spatula, choose seasoned steel; if you want easy cleaning, choose a coated plate and keep the heat moderate.
Will a 25 x 16 griddle fit a 3-burner gas grill?
Possibly, but do not assume it. The listings disagree. The Uniflasy, a 25 by 16 inch plate, recommends a 5-burner or larger grill and says you need at least 27.1 by 16 inches of clear space, because its handles add about 1.05 inches at each end. The QuliMetal, the same surface size, claims to fit the Weber Genesis and 90% of gas and charcoal grills. The Utheer, the same size again, says it fits most grills. Burner count tells you nothing reliable about firebox width or depth, and the Uniflasy itself warns that burner count alone does not guarantee fit. Measure your firebox at grate level. If you have 27.1 inches of clear width and 16 of depth, a 25 by 16 plate should go in. If you come up a couple of inches short, the 23 by 16 inch Arribueno, which names several 3-burner Weber grills, is the closest alternative.
What is the best flat top griddle for gas grill owners with a Weber?
Start with your model number and build year, which are on the grill’s data label. If you own a Spirit or Spirit II 3-burner built from 2016 to 2024, a Spirit 4-burner built since 2025, or a Searwood pellet grill, Weber’s Rust-Resistant insert is designed to cover the whole grilling surface and drain into the grill’s own grease system, with a 2 Years warranty. If you own a Genesis II or II LX, Weber’s Genesis II insert replaces one grate with porcelain-enamelled cast iron; note that it states it does not fit 2022 Genesis grills. For a 2007 to 2016 Genesis 300, the EasiBBQ insert replaces the grates and lists the model numbers it fits. If your Weber is not on any of those lists, the Arribueno 23 by 16 inch plate names Weber Spirit and Genesis 300 Series 3-burner grills, but measure first.
Do I need to season a griddle plate for a gas grill?
Only some of them. The coated and enamelled plates say they need no seasoning: the Charbroil is ready to use with no seasoning or prep, and the Weber Genesis II, QuliMetal, Arribueno and EasiBBQ all rely on porcelain, ceramic or other coatings. Two listings are confusing: the Uniflasy calls itself nonstick-coated and pre-seasoned in different bullets, and the Utheer says pre-seasoned cast iron with a nonstick coating. Care for those as coated until the seller says otherwise. The carbon steel plates, the Weber Rust-Resistant and the Hisencn, arrive pre-seasoned, which means a baked-on oil layer rather than a coating. You can cook on them straight away, but you maintain the seasoning yourself: dry them on the heat after cleaning, wipe on a thin film of oil and store them covered. The stainless Skyflame needs no seasoning, but oil before cooking helps food release.
Can I close the grill lid with a griddle on it?
None of these ten listings says either way, so check two things. First, clearance: the plates that sit on top of the grates stand between 2.2 and 3.0 inches tall on their stated fields, and a low warming rack or lid can foul them. Measure from the grate to the underside of the lid or rack. Second, heat: a gas grill with the lid closed traps heat, and coated plates have limits. The QuliMetal states 550°F and the EasiBBQ 280°C, about 536°F by our arithmetic, and the EasiBBQ adds that it must never be heated dry or empty. The other eight give no ceiling. With a coated plate, cook with the lid open until you know how hot your grill runs with the plate in place, and watch the lid thermometer if you close it. Your grill’s manual may also have advice about covering the cooking area with a solid plate.
Is a griddle insert as good as a dedicated flat top grill?
It is a different trade. An insert uses burners you already own and stores in a cupboard. The largest universal plates give 400 square inches of surface, and the EasiBBQ about 485 by our arithmetic on its size field. A dedicated propane flat top has burners designed for the plate and no grates in the way, which usually means more even heat across the surface and better grease handling, but it is a second appliance to buy, fuel and store. If you griddle once a week or less, an insert is the sensible start; a 17 by 13 inch plate even leaves room for grilling alongside. If you find yourself cooking breakfast for a crowd every weekend, look at our propane griddle guide. Either way, a good scraper and spatula make flat-top cooking easier, whatever surface you choose.
Final Verdict
The only listing that states its full length, about 27.1 in with handles, on 400 sq in of cast iron.
The lowest-priced plate here: porcelain-coated cast iron on any grates, metal-utensil safe, 1 Year Limited warranty, sold by Amazon.com.
Named Spirit and Searwood grills, the whole grilling surface in carbon steel, 2 Years warranty.
The size on a gas grill griddle is the cooking surface, not the space it needs. Only the Uniflasy says so: its 25 by 16 inch plate is about 27.1 inches long with handles, and it asks for 27.1 by 16 inches of clear room. The QuliMetal, the same size, claims 90% of grills. The Utheer, the same size again, claims most. A 3-burner grill is named for plates from 17 to 25 inches long. Burner counts and percentages do not describe a firebox.
The model-specific inserts solve fit with a list, and two of them still print two sizes. Weber names its Spirit grills and build years; its Genesis II insert names what it does not fit; EasiBBQ prints model numbers. If your grill is listed, they are the surest buys on the page. Elsewhere, the Charbroil claims 270 square inches on a plate whose own fields give about 204 outside, and the most-bought plates are the biggest, the ones most likely not to fit.
So measure first and buy second. Inside the firebox, at grate level, at its narrowest. Add the handles. Check the lid, the grates and the grease path. Then choose your finish: seasoned steel for scrapers, coated cast iron for easy cleaning, stainless for light weight.
If you buy one griddle from this page for a large gas grill, make it the Uniflasy 25 x 16: 400 square inches of cast iron and the only listing that tells you, in inches, whether it will fit. If your grill is smaller or you want grates beside the griddle, the Charbroil is the cheapest sensible start; if you own a listed Weber Spirit, buy Weber’s own insert and skip the tape measure.
