Past a 1.97-Inch Worktop, No Best Manual Meat Grinder Clamps On

A hand-crank meat grinder has one job that an electric grinder does not: it has to stay put while you turn it. Every turn of the handle pushes sideways on whatever the grinder is fixed to, and a grinder that slides or tips mid-turn is a grinder you fight rather than use. So the first question for any manual meat grinder is not the blade. It is how the thing holds on, and to what.

Read the ten listings on this page side by side and the answer splits three ways. Eight clamp to the edge of a table or worktop with a screw clamp. Two of those eight add a suction cup under the base as well. One, the LHS 9303 in red, holds by suction alone and says so: “Powerful suction base ensure to keep this meat grinder in place”. The last, an aluminium grinder sold under the Vdsfand brand, never says how it mounts at all.

The clamps share a ceiling. Six of the eight clamp listings print an opening range, and every range starts at 0.39 or 0.4 inches. They stop at 1.38, 1.8, 1.80, 1.9 and 1.97 inches. The widest, on the Huanyu sold as model 8s, is “0.39″-1.97””, which is about 50mm by our arithmetic. The other two, the LHS in green and the Weston #22, call their clamps adjustable and give no figure. No grinder on the page claims to grip anything thicker than 1.97 inches. If your worktop edge is thicker than that, or has a deep lip or a drawer right under the edge, no clamp here is promised to fit.

The second split is the metal. Three grinders are cast iron: the VEVOR #8, the ikaufen and the Weston #22, whose iron carries a “food-safe tin coating”. Four are stainless steel: the VEVOR #12 and three from Huanyu. One is aluminium alloy and two have heavy-duty plastic bodies with stainless blades. That matters most at the sink. Four stainless listings say some or all parts go in the dishwasher, and one, the Huanyu 105B, lists exactly which ones. None of the three cast iron listings says anything about a dishwasher, and the plastic-bodied LHS in green tells you outright: “Do not put the white body part in the dishwasher.”

The third is size and what is in the box. Five listings state a head size: #22 on the Weston, #12 on the stainless VEVOR, and #8 on the cast iron VEVOR, the Huanyu 105B and the Huanyu HZ8. Four count their plates, and only two give the hole sizes in millimetres. Sausage tubes or funnels appear on most of the ten, in counts from one to three, where a count is given at all.

And then there are bones. “Best manual meat grinder for bones” is a common search, so we checked. Four listings mention bones in some form: two say “small bones” and two say “chicken racks”. None mentions beef, pork or lamb bones. Hand grinders are generally not built for bone, and we set out below what the four claims do and do not cover.

So this guide sorts the ten by how each one holds on and how far its clamp opens, then by body metal, head size, kit and cleaning. We also compare model numbers, because three brands appear more than once. Star ratings and review counts were not captured for this roundup; popularity below is Amazon’s Best Sellers Rank only.

All ten were captured on 5 October 2026. Their overall Best Sellers Ranks run from #20,045 to #114,853, and the best-ranked grinder on the page is the one with no clamp at all.

Best Sellers Ranks and specifications are taken from each manufacturer’s Amazon listing as displayed on 5 October 2026 through a United States connection, and may change. Clamp openings are as each listing states them. Every stated range starts at 0.39 or 0.4 inches; the figure shown is the top of the range. The VEVOR #12 gives both 0.4–1.8 in and 10–45 mm, and 45 mm is about 1.77 inches by our arithmetic, so its true ceiling is a little under the inch figure. The LHS 190706-2 and the Weston #22 call their clamps adjustable but give no range. Head sizes are shown only where a listing states one: the Weston #22 in its title, the VEVOR #8 and #12 in their size fields and titles, the Huanyu 105B as “#M8” and “#8 caliber”, and the Huanyu HZ8 as “NO.8”. The Huanyu sold as model 8s does not state a head size anywhere else in its listing, so we do not read one into the model name. Dishwasher entries are the listing’s own words; a cast iron listing that does not mention a dishwasher is marked not stated. Seven sellers appear on the page; the two VEVOR grinders were sold by Amazon.com at capture. Star ratings and review counts were not captured for any product here.

How We Chose These Ten

We researched current listings, compared manufacturer specifications and documentation, and read each listing’s claims about mounting, materials, attachments and cleaning line by line. We did not carry out hands-on testing, and nothing below is presented as measured performance data. Star ratings and review counts were not captured for this roundup. We used Amazon Best Sellers Rank, buy-box stock and listing specifications instead, and nothing on this page describes or implies how owners have scored these grinders.

  • Hand-crank grinders only — every product here is turned by a handle, with no motor. Electric grinders and grinder attachments for stand mixers were not in the running; see our electric meat grinder roundup for those.
  • Mounting recorded exactly as printed — table clamp, suction cup, both, or nothing said. Where a listing gives a clamp opening range, we record both ends, in inches and in millimetres where it gives millimetres. Where it gives only one unit, any conversion on this page is our arithmetic.
  • Body material in the listing’s words — cast iron, 304 stainless steel, stainless steel, aluminium alloy or heavy-duty plastic. Where the listing describes blades separately from the body, we report both.
  • Head size only where stated — the number on a grinder, #8, #12 or #22, describes the size of the head and plate. We record it only where the listing states it, and we do not infer one from a model code.
  • Kit counted from the listing — plates, plate hole sizes, blades, sausage tubes or funnels, pushers and extras, counted only where the listing counts them.
  • Cleaning in the listing’s words — which parts, if any, the listing says can go in a dishwasher, and any drying or oiling instruction it gives.
  • Bone claims logged verbatim — we searched every title and bullet for bones, racks and similar words and quote what we found. A listing that does not mention bones is treated as not claiming them.
  • Model numbers compared — where a brand appears more than once, we compared model and part numbers, weights and copy to see whether two listings are the same grinder.
  • Popularity from Best Sellers Rank only — ranks are quoted exactly as returned on 5 October 2026, overall and in Meat Grinders, where Amazon files all ten.
  • Verified stock and seller — each product was the buy-box offer and in stock on amazon.com on 5 October 2026.

The Ten Manual Meat Grinders in Detail

1. VEVOR Manual Meat Grinder, 304 Stainless Steel, #12, with Steel Table Clamp — Best Overall

Polished stainless steel hand-crank meat grinder with a wide hopper, a side crank handle and a screw clamp under the body

The largest stainless head on the page, in 304 stainless steel, with a stated dishwasher-safe kit and a clamp that opens to 1.8 inches.

Key Specifications

Mounting Steel tabletop clamp with non-slip pads
Clamp opening 0.4–1.8 in (10–45 mm), stated
Body material 304 stainless steel
Head size #12
Plates 2 cutting plates; hole sizes not stated
Sausage and extras Sausage tube and cookie attachment
Dishwasher Detachable parts dishwasher-safe, stated
Care stated Dry and store; oil the blades regularly
Bones “Small bones” named
Listed weight 7.28 pounds
Seller Amazon.com
Best Sellers Rank #32,726 overall; #31 in Meat Grinders

Why We Recommend It

This is the largest head among the stainless grinders. The title says “#12 Meat Mincer Sausage Maker” and the size field reads “#12”. Only the cast iron Weston, a #22, states a bigger head; every other grinder that states a size is a #8. On a meat grinder, the number refers to the size of the head and the plate, and a larger plate has more holes for the meat to pass through on each turn of the handle. The listing gives no throughput figure, but if you grind more than a few pounds at a time and want stainless steel, this is the one to look at first.

The clamp is stated twice, and the two figures differ slightly. “Clamp fits tables 0.4–1.8 in (10-45 mm) thick”, the third bullet says, and it adds “non-slip pads for steady use”. 45mm is about 1.77 inches by our arithmetic, so the true upper limit is probably a touch under the 1.8 inch figure. That is still the third-widest clamp on the page, behind only two Huanyu models, and it covers most worktops that end in a plain edge. A thick stone slab with a built-up front edge may still be too much, so measure before you buy.

It is stainless steel, and it says the parts can go in the dishwasher. “Crafted from premium 304 stainless steel, this manual meat grinder is rustproof, corrosion-resistant, and food-safe”. The cleaning bullet goes further: “Our hand crank meat grinder features detachable parts that are dishwasher-safe for easy cleanup. Just dry and store after use.” It also suggests you “Apply cooking oil to the blades regularly to maintain sharpness”. Compare the cast iron VEVOR, which says nothing about a dishwasher and asks you to dry it thoroughly before storing. If cleaning is the part of grinding you dread, this is the difference.

What to weigh. It is sold by Amazon.com and ranks #32,726 overall and #31 in Meat Grinders, third on the page. The listed weight is 7.28 pounds, second only to the Weston, and the listed dimensions are 13.8 by 5.5 by 9.8 inches. That mass is helpful on a clamp and awkward in a drawer. The model field reads simply “Manual Meat Grinder”, the same as the cast iron VEVOR, but the part numbers differ, 12# against 8#, and so do the materials: these are two different grinders, not one listed twice.

Pros

  • #12 head, largest of the stainless grinders
  • 304 stainless steel body
  • Detachable parts dishwasher-safe, stated
  • Clamp to 1.8 in (45 mm) with non-slip pads
  • Cookie attachment and sausage tube included
  • Sold by Amazon.com

Cons

  • Plate hole sizes not stated
  • Tube count not given
  • 7.28 lb listed weight
  • Inch and millimetre clamp figures differ slightly
  • “Small bones” claim is not defined
  • Long outline, 13.8 in

Best for: A cook who grinds in batches, wants stainless steel that goes in the dishwasher, and has a worktop edge under about 1.77 inches thick.

2. Huanyu Manual Meat Grinder, 304 Stainless Steel with Sausage Stuffer #M8 (105B) — Best #8 Stainless

Compact mirror-polished stainless steel hand meat grinder clamped to a table edge with a crank handle on the side

The most fully itemised listing on the page: plate sizes, accessory counts and the exact parts that go in the dishwasher.

Key Specifications

Mounting Stainless steel clamp plus non-slip silicone pad
Clamp opening 0.39–1.9 in, stated
Body material 304 stainless steel, one-piece casting
Head size #8 caliber (“#M8”)
Plates 2: fine 4.5mm and coarse 8mm
Sausage and extras Sausage stuffing tube; 2 food pushers, 2 brushes, spare shaft sleeve
Dishwasher Top rack: body, plates, shaft, handle, tube, pusher
Care stated Dry promptly; thin coat of food-grade oil on blade and plate
Bones Not mentioned
Listed weight 3.51 pounds
Model 105B
Best Sellers Rank #80,436 overall; #61 in Meat Grinders

Why We Recommend It

This listing answers almost every question on our list in writing. Mounting: “Heavy-duty stainless steel clamp (adjusts 0.39″ to 1.9″), plus non-slip silicone pad.” Material: “Premium food-safe 304 stainless steel”, “one-piece casting”. Head: “#8 caliber”, repeated as “#M8” in the title. Plates: “2 cutting plates (fine 4.5mm & coarse 8mm)”. Only one other listing on the page gives plate hole sizes at all.

It is the only listing that names every dishwasher-safe part. The sixth bullet reads: “safely clean by hand or top-rack dishwasher (Dishwasher safe components: main body, plates, spiral shaft, handle, sausage tube, food pusher)”. Then it adds the care step most listings skip: “After washing, promptly dry all parts and apply a thin coat of food-grade oil to blade and plate”. Note what is missing from the dishwasher list: the blade. The listing tells you to oil it, not to put it in the machine. That level of detail is rare here, and it is what separates a listing you can hold to from one you have to guess at.

The kit count is generous, with one wrinkle. The box list is “2 cutting plates (fine 4.5mm & coarse 8mm), sausage stuffing tube, food pusher*2, cleaning brush*2, handle and spare shaft sleeve”. That is one tube. Yet the third bullet says “Includes sausage tubes”, plural. We report both; on the itemised list, expect one tube. The spare shaft sleeve is a thoughtful extra, since it is a wear part on a hand grinder. The listing also claims the grinder “Processes 5 lbs of meat in just 10 minutes”, which is the only throughput figure on the page; it is the seller’s claim, not a measurement we can check.

What to weigh. It ranks #80,436 overall and #61 in Meat Grinders, eighth on the page, and is sold by Huanyu US. The listed weight is 3.51 pounds and the dimensions 6.89 by 3.15 by 13.98 inches, which makes it about half the listed weight of the VEVOR #12. That is lighter to store and carry, and the listing pitches it for “small kitchens, RVs, camping adventures, tailgates & backyard BBQs”. It does not mention bones. Its model number, 105B, differs from both other Huanyu listings here, so it is a distinct grinder, not a relisting.

Pros

  • Plate sizes stated: 4.5mm and 8mm
  • Every dishwasher-safe part named
  • 304 stainless steel, #8 head
  • Clamp to 1.9 in, second-widest here
  • Spare shaft sleeve, 2 pushers and 2 brushes included
  • 3.51 lb, easy to store

Cons

  • One tube in the box list, “tubes” elsewhere
  • Blade needs oiling after washing
  • No suction backup
  • Throughput claim is the seller’s
  • Rank #61 in Meat Grinders
  • Bones not mentioned

Best for: A buyer who wants a compact stainless #8 with every plate size and dishwasher rule spelled out.

3. Huanyu Manual Meat Grinder Heavy Duty Stainless Steel Hand Crank Machine (Model 8s) — Widest Clamp Opening

Stainless steel hand-crank meat grinder with a round suction base and a screw clamp beneath it

The widest clamp range on the page, 1.97 inches, plus a suction cup, on a stainless body the listing calls dishwasher safe.

Key Specifications

Mounting Suction cup plus stainless steel table clamp
Clamp opening 0.39–1.97 in, stated
Body material Stainless steel, one-piece casting
Head size Not stated
Plates Not stated
Sausage and extras One small sausage tube (size field)
Dishwasher Yes, stated
Bones “Chicken racks” named
Listed weight 7.1 pounds
Dimensions Fields not credible; not printed
Model / part 8s / WJJ-191a
Best Sellers Rank #50,240 overall; #37 in Meat Grinders

Why We Recommend It

If your worktop is thick, this is the clamp to look at. “The opening range of steel clip is 0.39″-1.97”, which is suitable for desktops with most thicknesses”. 1.97 inches is about 50mm by our arithmetic, and it is the widest opening any listing on the page claims. It is also one of only two grinders to pair the clamp with a suction cup: “The bottom strong suction cup and Stainless steel table clamp, double fixation to prevent the machine from moving during use”. The LHS in green is the other.

It is thin on what comes in the box. The size field reads, verbatim, “With ONE SAMLL Sausage Tube”. The bullets say it “can make sausages” but never count the plates or give their hole sizes, and nowhere is a head size stated. The model field reads “8s”, which may hint at a #8 head, but the listing does not say so and we do not assume it. If plate choice matters to you, ask the seller before you order.

Some of its numbers cannot be right. The dimension fields give a height of over 127 inches and a length of over 92, figures no countertop grinder could have, so we leave them out. The listed weight is 7.1 pounds, nearly double the stainless Huanyu 105B. We cannot tell from the listing whether that is the grinder or the parcel. The copy also shares whole phrases with the cast iron VEVOR, including “beef, pork, fish, chicken racks” and “vegetables with low moisture like mushrooms and peppers”, a sign of shared marketing text rather than a shared grinder: the materials differ.

What to weigh. It ranks #50,240 overall and #37 in Meat Grinders, fourth on the page, and is sold by Huanyu US, which offers “free replacement services for machine parts that are non-human damage or non consumable accessories”. Its part number, WJJ-191a, differs from the 105B and the HY-MMG-1, so this is a third distinct Huanyu grinder. Buy it for the clamp range and the double fixation, and get the plate details in writing.

Pros

  • Widest clamp opening here, 1.97 in
  • Suction cup and clamp together
  • Stainless steel, one-piece casting
  • Dishwasher safe, stated
  • Chicken racks named
  • Free replacement parts offer from the seller

Cons

  • Head size not stated
  • Plates not counted or sized
  • One small sausage tube only
  • Dimension fields not credible
  • Dishwasher parts not itemised
  • 304 grade not stated

Best for: A kitchen with a thick worktop edge, up to about 50mm, that wants stainless steel and a suction backup.

4. Huanyu Manual Meat Grinder, Stainless Steel with Sausage Tubes for Home HZ8 — Plainest Stainless #8

Silver stainless steel manual meat grinder with a crank handle and a table clamp on a plain worktop

A stainless No. 8 with a 1.80-inch clamp, the only Huanyu that names small bones, and almost no physical data.

Key Specifications

Mounting Steel clamp plus non-slip foot pads
Clamp opening 0.39–1.80 in, stated
Body material Food-grade stainless steel, all components
Head size No. 8 (size field)
Plates Grinding plates mentioned; count not stated
Sausage and extras Sausage tubes; count not stated
Dishwasher Grinding plates and cross blades, stated
Care stated Wipe dry; occasional edible oil on blades
Bones “Small bones” named
Listed weight Not stated
Model HY-MMG-1
Best Sellers Rank #95,506 overall; #79 in Meat Grinders

Why We Recommend It

This is a stainless #8 with a clamp and little else measured. The size field reads “NO.8”, the title ends in “HZ8”, and the listing says the grinder is “Crafted with food-grade stainless steel across all components”. The clamp is “a clamp opening range of 0.39″-1.80″”, about 46mm by our arithmetic, with “non-slip foot pads” that the listing says protect your tabletop. It gives no weight and no dimensions at all.

The dishwasher claim is narrower than its siblings’. “allowing some metal parts(grinding plates and cross blades) to be cleaned in the dishwasher”. Compare the Huanyu 105B, which names the body, shaft, handle, tube and pusher as well, and the model 8s, which calls the whole grinder dishwasher safe. On this listing, plan to hand-wash the body. That is not a hardship for stainless steel, but it is a difference worth knowing before you buy on the strength of the brand.

It is one of two listings to name small bones. “Huanyu meat grinders for home use handle beef, pork, chicken, fish, small bones, and vegetables like onions, peppers, mushrooms.” The VEVOR #12 uses the same phrase. Neither listing defines a small bone. In practice, the bones a hand-cranked #8 might manage are soft poultry bones such as chicken necks and wing tips, and even those depend on your arm and the sharpness of the blade. We would not put beef, pork or lamb bone through any grinder on this page; see our meat grinder for bones guide for machines built for that.

What to weigh. It ranks #95,506 overall and #79 in Meat Grinders, ninth on the page, and is sold by Huanyu US. It is the only listing here to state a certification: “our meat grinder has gained CE certification”. Its model number, HY-MMG-1, is different from the 105B and the 8s, so this is not a relisting of either. Against the 105B, it trades the itemised kit and named dishwasher parts for a small-bones line and a slightly narrower clamp.

Pros

  • Stainless steel throughout, stated
  • No. 8 head stated
  • Clamp to 1.80 in with foot pads
  • Small bones named
  • CE certification stated
  • Replacement parts offered for non-artificial damage

Cons

  • No weight or dimensions given
  • Plate and tube counts not stated
  • Only plates and blades dishwasher-safe
  • Plate hole sizes not stated
  • Rank #79 in Meat Grinders
  • “Small bones” not defined

Best for: A buyer who wants a stainless #8 with a clamp and is happy to hand-wash the body.

5. VEVOR Manual Meat Grinder, Heavy Duty Cast Iron, #8, with Steel Table Clamp — Best Cast Iron

Classic grey cast iron hand meat grinder with a hopper on top, a crank handle and a table clamp

The fullest counted kit on the page in classic cast iron, with the narrowest stated clamp range and a drying instruction.

Key Specifications

Mounting 304 stainless steel table clamp
Clamp opening 0.39–1.38 in (10–35 mm), stated
Body material Cast iron
Head size #8
Plates 2: 5mm and 8mm
Sausage and extras 1 cutting blade, 3 plastic sausage tubes, 1 meat pusher
Dishwasher Not stated
Care stated Thoroughly dry before storing
Bones “Chicken racks” named
Listed weight 5.07 pounds
Seller Amazon.com
Best Sellers Rank #30,415 overall; #26 in Meat Grinders

Why We Recommend It

This is the classic hand grinder, and the box is the best counted on the page. “It also comes with 5mm and 8mm cutting plates, 1 cutting blade, 3 plastic sausage tubes, and 1 meat pusher”. That is the only listing here that counts the plates, gives their hole sizes, counts the blade and counts three tubes. If you want to start making sausage on day one with a choice of casing sizes, three tubes ties the Weston’s three funnels for the most any listing promises.

It is cast iron, and the listing asks you to dry it. “This heavy-duty meat grinder is constructed from durable cast iron, with excellent rust resistance, corrosion resistance, and ease of cleaning. It is recommended to thoroughly dry the grinder before storing it.” The two halves of that bullet pull against each other. Cast iron is iron, and bare iron rusts when it is left wet; that is why the drying advice is there. The listing says nothing about a dishwasher, and on cast iron that silence should be read as a no. Wash it by hand, dry it straight away, and give the bare metal a thin wipe of food-safe oil before it goes back in the cupboard.

The clamp is the narrowest on the page. “The opening range of steel clip is 0.39″-1.38″ (10-35 mm), accommodating a majority of tabletops with most thicknesses.” 1.38 inches is the lowest ceiling among the six listings that state one; the ikaufen shares it. A standard 3cm stone slab, about 1.18 inches by our arithmetic, should fit; a thicker slab or a laminate worktop with a deep front edge may not. The clamp itself is “304 stainless steel”, so the part that sits on your worktop will not rust even if the body might.

What to weigh. It is sold by Amazon.com and ranks #30,415 overall and #26 in Meat Grinders, second on the page. The listed weight is 5.07 pounds, and the listed dimensions are 10.7 by 6.3 by 4.2 inches. The model field reads “Manual Meat Grinder”, exactly as on the stainless VEVOR, but the part numbers (8# against 12#), the head sizes and the materials all differ. The closest match on the page is actually the ikaufen: also cast iron, with the identical 0.39 to 1.38 inch clamp range. We cover that pairing below.

Pros

  • Counted kit: 2 plates, blade, 3 tubes, pusher
  • Plate sizes stated: 5mm and 8mm
  • #8 head stated
  • Stainless steel clamp
  • Sold by Amazon.com
  • Second-best rank on the page

Cons

  • Cast iron must be dried after washing
  • Dishwasher not stated
  • Narrowest clamp range, 1.38 in
  • Rust-resistance claim sits oddly with cast iron
  • Sausage tubes are plastic
  • Chicken racks claim not defined

Best for: A sausage maker who wants three tubes and two sized plates in the box and does not mind hand-washing and drying cast iron.

6. ikaufen Meat Grinder Manual Mincer & Sausage Maker, Hand Crank, Table Mount — Cast Iron Alternative

Silver-finished cast iron manual mincer with a crank handle clamped to the edge of a wooden table

A cast iron table-mount grinder with the same clamp range as the VEVOR #8, a reverse function, and very few numbers.

Key Specifications

Mounting Tabletop clamp
Clamp opening 0.39–1.38 in, stated
Body material Cast iron
Head size Not stated
Plates A grinding plate named; count and sizes not stated
Sausage and extras Sausage stuffer function; parts not counted
Dishwasher Not stated
Special feature Reverse function, stated
Bones Not mentioned
Listed weight Not stated
Model Meat Grinder-001
Best Sellers Rank #83,118 overall; #66 in Meat Grinders

Why We Recommend It

This is one of three cast iron grinders on the page, and it describes itself in the fewest numbers. “This cast iron hand-operated meat grinder is detachable and easy to clean after use.” The clamp gets one line: “0.39″-1.38″ opening range accommodates tabletops with most thicknesses.” That is the same range, to the hundredth of an inch, as the cast iron VEVOR. The listing gives no weight, no dimensions, no head size and no count of plates or tubes.

It is the only listing that names a reverse function. “With dded reverse function, you can freeze fresh meat to a hardened state before grinding, ensuring smooth meat processing without any clogging.” On a hand grinder, reversing the crank can help back out a strand of sinew that has wrapped the auger. We would add one caution to the freezing advice: chilled or part-frozen meat grinds cleanly, but meat frozen hard is far tougher to push through a hand-turned plate and is more likely to strain the crank. Firm, not rock-hard, is the usual target.

It calls itself rust-proof, and it is cast iron. “As a completely manual meat grinder, this rust-proof meat grinder offers ultimate convenience without the need for electricity.” The listing does not say how the iron is protected, by plating or a coating, and it says nothing about a dishwasher. The silver colour field may reflect a finish. Until the seller says otherwise, treat it as you would any cast iron grinder: hand-wash, dry at once, oil lightly.

What to weigh. It ranks #83,118 overall and #66 in Meat Grinders, ninth on the page, and is sold by dgdazahui. Its model field, “Meat Grinder-001”, matches nothing else here. The shared clamp range and the shared material with the cast iron VEVOR suggest the two may come from similar tooling, but the listings give us no model number or weight to prove it, so we flag the similarity and leave it there. If you want cast iron, the VEVOR documents its kit; the ikaufen documents its reverse function.

Pros

  • Cast iron table-mount design
  • Reverse function, the only one stated
  • Clamp 0.39–1.38 in stated
  • Tool-free assembly order given
  • No electricity needed
  • Pitched for camping use

Cons

  • No weight, dimensions or head size
  • Plates and tubes not counted
  • Dishwasher not stated
  • “Rust-proof” claim not explained for cast iron
  • Narrowest clamp range here
  • Rank #66 in Meat Grinders

Best for: A cast iron buyer who values a reverse crank and has a worktop edge well under 1.38 inches.

7. Weston #22 Manual Tinned Meat Grinder and Sausage Stuffer (36-2201-W) — Biggest Head

Large silver tinned cast iron hand meat grinder with a wide square hopper, a wooden crank handle and a screw clamp

The biggest head on the page, #22, in tinned cast iron, with a stated warranty and no stated clamp range.

Key Specifications

Mounting Adjustable clamp for tables and flat work surfaces
Clamp opening Not stated
Body material Cast iron with food-safe tin coating
Head size #22
Hopper 4 x 5 in, stated
Plates 2 grinding plates; sizes not stated
Sausage and extras 3 funnels, knife
Dishwasher Not stated
Bones Not mentioned
Listed weight 12.8 pounds
Warranty One year, stated
Best Sellers Rank #114,853 overall; #97 in Meat Grinders

Why We Recommend It

This is the biggest grinder on the page by every measure the listings give. The title says “Weston #22”, against #12 on the stainless VEVOR and #8 on everything else that states a size. The hopper is “4″ x 5″”, the only hopper measurement on the page, and the listed weight is 12.8 pounds, the heaviest here and more than seven times the suction-based LHS 9303. The listing pitches it for “wild game, farm animals or bulk-purchase meats”, and that is the job a #22 head is for.

The clamp is described, not measured. “It has an adjustable clamp to securely attach to tables and other sturdy flat work surfaces.” There is no opening range. With six other clamp listings printing one, that silence is the main gap in an otherwise solid listing. A grinder this heavy, turned through a #22 plate, puts real load on its clamp, so measure your worktop or table edge and ask the seller for the opening before you rely on it. A sturdy table is the safer home for it than a thin worktop.

It is cast iron with a tin coating, and the listing says nothing about a dishwasher. “This manual meat grinder and sausage stuffer is made of cast iron with a food-safe tin coating for extra protection against wear and tear.” Tinning protects the iron better than bare metal, but the coating can wear and harsh dishwasher detergent is hard on it. Hand-wash, dry at once and oil lightly, as for the other two cast iron grinders. The listing calls it “easy to set up, take apart and clean” and mentions a “heavy-duty nylon bearing” and a “large wooden cranking handle”; a wooden handle is one more reason to keep it out of the dishwasher.

The kit is counted, the plates are not sized. The size field reads “Includes 2 Grinding Plates, 3 Funnels, Knife”. Three funnels ties the VEVOR #8’s three tubes for the most sausage parts on the page, but the plate hole sizes are not given. The listing does not mention bones; despite the game-processing pitch, treat it as a meat grinder.

What to weigh. It is sold by UnbeatableSale, Inc and ranks #114,853 overall and #97 in Meat Grinders, last on the page. It is the only listing with a stated warranty term: “One(1) Year Warranty”. Its model number, 36-2201-W, matches nothing else here. Buy it if you process game or bulk meat and have a table it can clamp to; for a pound of burger meat, it is far more grinder than you need.

Pros

  • #22 head, the biggest on the page
  • Only stated hopper size, 4 x 5 in
  • Tinned cast iron body
  • 2 plates, 3 funnels and knife counted
  • One-year warranty stated
  • Wooden crank handle

Cons

  • Clamp range not stated
  • 12.8 lb, heaviest here
  • Dishwasher not stated; hand-wash and dry
  • Plate hole sizes not stated
  • Lowest rank on the page
  • Bones not mentioned

Best for: A hunter or bulk buyer grinding large batches who has a sturdy table edge to clamp to.

8. LHS Manual Meat Grinder, Meat Mincer Sausage Stuffer, Green (3 in 1, with Table Clamp) — Best Plastic Body with Clamp

Green and white plastic hand-crank meat grinder with a suction base, a table clamp and a sausage funnel beside it

A light plastic-bodied grinder with both a suction cup and a clamp, a counted kit, and a clamp range it never gives.

Key Specifications

Mounting Suction cup plus stainless steel table clamp
Clamp opening Adjustable; range not stated
Body material Heavy-duty plastic; stainless steel blades
Head size Not stated
Plates 2: coarse and fine; sizes not stated
Sausage and extras 1 cutting blade, 1 sausage stuffer, 1 cookie attachment, meat pusher
Dishwasher Blades only; not the white body
Bones Not mentioned
Listed weight 2.6 pounds
Model 190706-2
Best Sellers Rank #69,012 overall; #49 in Meat Grinders

Why We Recommend It

This grinder holds on two ways, and only tells you about one of them. “The strong suction cup at the bottom + stainless steel table clamp, double fixed can effectively prevent the meat grinder from moving during use. Clamp opening width is adjustable, can be clamped on different thickness of table top.” It is one of only two clamp listings on the page, with the Weston, that give no opening range. So you know it clamps, but not to what thickness. Ask the seller before you buy if your worktop is thicker than standard.

The body is plastic and the listing is honest about the dishwasher. “The heavy-duty plastic body and stainless steel blades ensure durability.” On cleaning, it says “The blades are dishwasher safe. We recommend washing by hand and wiping with a cloth. Note: Do not put the white body part in the dishwasher.” That is the clearest dishwasher warning on the page. Note that the listing is sold in green, but the body it warns about is white; expect a two-tone grinder with a white body.

The kit is counted. “2 grinding plates (coarse and fine), 1 cutting blade, 1 sausage stuffer and 1 biscuit cookie attachment.” A meat pusher is mentioned in the safety bullet too. That puts it with the VEVOR #8, the Huanyu 105B and the Weston as one of four listings that count their plates, though it does not give hole sizes. The cookie attachment is the same extra the VEVOR #12 offers, and the listing suggests uses from meatballs to “homemade pet food and biscuits” and baby food.

What to weigh. It ranks #69,012 overall and #49 in Meat Grinders, seventh on the page, and is sold by LHS INC. Its model number, 190706-2, is different from the red LHS 9303: different model, different mounting (clamp plus suction against suction only) and a different listed weight (2.6 against 1.74 pounds). These are two LHS grinders, not one in two colours. The green one is the choice if you like the light plastic build but want a clamp as well.

Pros

  • Suction cup and clamp together
  • Counted kit: 2 plates, blade, stuffer, cookie attachment
  • Clearest dishwasher warning on the page
  • Blades dishwasher safe
  • Light at 2.6 lb
  • Enclosed blade and meat pusher

Cons

  • Clamp range not stated
  • Plastic body
  • Body must be hand-washed
  • Plate hole sizes not stated
  • Head size not stated
  • Not for bones or heavy sinew

Best for: An occasional grinder of soft meats who wants a light, two-way mount and sausage and cookie attachments in one box.

9. LHS Manual Meat Grinder with Stainless Steel Blades and Suction Base, Red (9303) — Best Suction Base

Red and white plastic hand meat grinder with a large round suction base sitting on a smooth worktop

The only grinder on the page that needs no table edge at all, and the best-ranked of the ten.

Key Specifications

Mounting Suction base only, lever knob
Clamp opening No clamp
Body material Heavy-duty plastic; stainless steel blades
Head size Not stated
Plates Not stated
Sausage and extras Not stated as included; replacement tubes, blades and handles available
Dishwasher Not stated
Bones Not mentioned
Listed weight 1.74 pounds
Dimensions 9.68 x 9.45 x 4.37 in; size field 6.06 x 4.41 x 9.84 in
Model 9303-red
Best Sellers Rank #20,045 overall; #15 in Meat Grinders

Why We Recommend It

This is the grinder for a kitchen with no clampable edge. “Powerful suction base ensure to keep this meat grinder in place while you are using it.” There is no clamp. That means no worry about worktop thickness, a lipped edge or a drawer under the overhang, which rules out none of the clamp grinders’ customers but rules in a lot of kitchens they cannot serve. It is also the best-ranked grinder on the page by some distance: #20,045 overall and #15 in Meat Grinders.

The suction has conditions, and the listing spells them out. “Please choose a no water and smooth counter and place the meat grinder on the edge of it, then press it to expel the air from the suction cup, and turn down the knob to make the suction base suck on it.” A suction cup holds well on glass, sealed stone, glazed tile and smooth laminate. It does not hold on wood, textured stone, grout lines or anything wet or greasy, and a grinding session puts both water and fat on the counter. Wipe the spot dry before you start, and keep the base clear of drips.

The box contents are not stated. The listing says “Blades, sausage stuffer tubes, handle replacement are available now, don’t worry about losing parts anymore!”, which tells you replacements can be bought, not what comes in the box. It gives no plate count, no hole sizes and no head size. It does say “The hopper size has been enlarged”, and that the blades are “fully enclosed”. The listing’s two size fields disagree, 9.68 by 9.45 by 4.37 inches in one and 6.06 by 4.41 by 9.84 inches in the other; we report both.

What to weigh. It is sold by Lisha.inc. Its model, 9303-red, is unrelated to the LHS 190706-2 in green, which adds a clamp and a counted kit at 2.6 pounds. The red 9303 is the pick for renters, for kitchens with thick or lipped worktops, and for anyone grinding small portions now and then. It is not the pick for batch sausage making or anything near a bone.

Pros

  • No table edge or clamp needed
  • Best rank on the page, #15 in Meat Grinders
  • Lightest at 1.74 lb
  • Mounting instructions spelled out
  • Fully enclosed blades
  • Replacement parts available

Cons

  • Suction needs a smooth, dry surface
  • Plastic body
  • Box contents not stated
  • Dishwasher not stated
  • Two size fields disagree
  • Not for tough cuts or bones

Best for: A renter or small-batch cook with a smooth counter and no clampable edge, grinding soft meat for burgers or baby food.

10. 2-in-1 Manual Meat Grinder with Sausage Stuffer (Vdsfand LZ1) — Aluminium, Mount Unstated

Silver aluminium hand meat grinder with a curved feed mouth, a crank handle and a sausage funnel

An aluminium grinder with a large curved feed mouth that never says how it attaches to anything.

Key Specifications

Mounting Not stated
Clamp opening Not stated
Body material Aluminium alloy, integrated casting
Head size Not stated
Plates Cutterhead named; plates not counted
Sausage and extras Sausage funnel
Dishwasher Not stated; can be wiped with a cloth
Bones Not mentioned
Warranty field “no”
Listed weight Not stated
Model Meat Grinder Manual Mincer
Best Sellers Rank #56,388 overall; #41 in Meat Grinders

Why We Recommend It

This listing describes the grinder in detail and its mounting not at all. Five bullets cover operation, uses, material, the feed mouth and cleaning. None mentions a clamp, a suction cup or a base. On a hand-crank grinder, how it stays put is the first practical question, and here you have to ask the seller or study the photos. That silence is why it sits near the bottom of our table.

The body is aluminium alloy. “The material is made of high-quality aluminum alloy, which is reliable in quality and prevents rusting.” The listing says it uses “integrated forging technology, one-time molding” and also calls it “Aluminum Alloy Material Integrated Casting Body”, two different processes in one bullet. Aluminium does not rust as iron does, which is a real advantage over cast iron, but it is generally not recommended for the dishwasher, where harsh detergents can dull and darken it. The listing is silent on the dishwasher and says the grinder “can also be wiped with a cloth”.

The kit is a funnel and not much more on paper. “fill the funnel to make sausages” is the sausage claim. The cleaning bullet names “the cutterhead, feeding cylinder, and rocker handle”, all removable without tools. Plates are not counted and no head size is given; the size field reads only “L”. The warranty field reads, simply, “no”.

What to weigh. It ranks #56,388 overall and #41 in Meat Grinders, fifth on the page, and is sold by AllBlueSky. It is the only Vdsfand grinder on the page and the only aluminium one. Its rank suggests the design sells, but on a hand grinder the mounting is not a detail, so get it in writing before you order.

Pros

  • Aluminium alloy does not rust like iron
  • Large curved feed mouth
  • Tool-free disassembly
  • Sausage funnel included
  • Pitched for sauces and pastes as well as meat
  • Fifth-best rank on the page

Cons

  • Mounting not stated
  • Head size and plates not stated
  • Dishwasher not stated
  • Warranty field reads “no”
  • No weight or dimensions
  • Forging and casting both claimed

Best for: Only a buyer who has confirmed with the seller how it mounts and wants a light, rust-free aluminium body.

Clamp, Suction or Silence: How the Ten Hold On

A manual grinder turns your arm into the motor, and every turn pushes the grinder sideways and up. Something has to resist that. On this page, the listings describe four answers, and the table below puts each grinder’s stated mounting next to the thickest worktop its clamp is promised to fit. Millimetre conversions in brackets, where the listing gives only inches, are our arithmetic.

Grinder Mounting stated Clamp opening stated Top of range Grip aid under the base
Huanyu model 8s Clamp and suction cup 0.39–1.97 in About 50 mm (ours) Suction cup
Huanyu 105B Clamp 0.39–1.9 in About 48 mm (ours) Silicone pad
Huanyu HZ8 Clamp 0.39–1.80 in About 46 mm (ours) Foot pads
VEVOR #12 stainless Clamp 0.4–1.8 in; 10–45 mm 45 mm stated, about 1.77 in (ours) Non-slip pads
VEVOR #8 cast iron Clamp 0.39–1.38 in; 10–35 mm 35 mm stated Not stated
ikaufen Clamp 0.39–1.38 in About 35 mm (ours) Not stated
Weston #22 Adjustable clamp Not stated Not stated Not stated
LHS 190706-2 green Clamp and suction cup Adjustable; not stated Not stated Suction cup
LHS 9303 red Suction base only No clamp — Suction base, lever knob
Vdsfand LZ1 Not stated Not stated — Not stated

Eight clamp, six give a range, and the ceiling is 1.97 inches. Every stated range starts at the same place, 0.39 or 0.4 inches, about 10mm. The tops fall into two groups. The VEVOR #8 and the ikaufen, both cast iron, stop at 1.38 inches. The four stainless clamps reach 1.8 to 1.97 inches. The Weston #22 and the LHS in green give no range at all. If your worktop is a 3cm stone slab, about 1.18 inches by our arithmetic, all six stated ranges cover it. If it is thicker, or has a built-up front edge, only the stainless group is promised to fit, and above 1.97 inches no listing here makes the promise.

Thickness is not the only fit. A clamp needs an overhang: a lip of worktop with clear space underneath for the screw and its pad. A worktop that ends flush with the cupboard doors below, or has a drawer rail right behind the edge, or a decorative apron, may defeat a clamp whatever its thickness. Before you buy, look under the edge where you plan to grind. A sturdy wooden table or a thick chopping board clamped to the worktop are the usual work-arounds.

One listing never says. The Vdsfand LZ1 describes material, feed mouth and cleaning, and does not mention a clamp, a cup or a base. On a grinder whose whole function depends on staying still, that is the gap to close with the seller before you order.

Measure the edge and the space under it; above 1.97 inches, no clamp here promises a fit.

Cast Iron, Stainless, Aluminium or Plastic

The second split is the metal, and it decides how you clean the grinder more than how it grinds. Here is what each listing says about the body and the dishwasher, in its own terms.

Grinder Body as stated Dishwasher as stated Care instruction Listed weight
VEVOR #12 304 stainless steel Detachable parts dishwasher-safe Dry and store; oil the blades 7.28 lb
Huanyu 105B 304 stainless steel Top rack: body, plates, shaft, handle, tube, pusher Dry promptly; oil blade and plate 3.51 lb
Huanyu model 8s Stainless steel “it is dishwasher safe” Not stated 7.1 lb
Huanyu HZ8 Food-grade stainless steel Grinding plates and cross blades Wipe dry; occasional edible oil Not stated
VEVOR #8 Cast iron Not stated Thoroughly dry before storing 5.07 lb
ikaufen Cast iron, “rust-proof” Not stated Not stated Not stated
Vdsfand LZ1 Aluminium alloy Not stated Can be wiped with a cloth Not stated
Weston #22 Cast iron, food-safe tin coating Not stated Not stated 12.8 lb
LHS 190706-2 Plastic body, stainless blades Blades only; not the white body Hand-wash recommended 2.6 lb
LHS 9303 Plastic body, stainless blades Not stated Not stated 1.74 lb

Cast iron is the traditional hand grinder, and it asks the most of you. Bare cast iron rusts if it is left wet, and a dishwasher cycle leaves it wet and hot for an hour. None of the three cast iron listings here mentions a dishwasher, and the VEVOR asks you to “thoroughly dry the grinder before storing it”. The routine is simple: hand-wash in warm soapy water straight after use, before fat sets, dry every part with a towel, warm it briefly if you can, and wipe a film of food-safe oil on the bare iron, the plate and the blade. The VEVOR and the ikaufen also claim rust resistance without saying how; the Weston at least names its tin coating. Treat any such claim as a hope, not a reason to skip the drying.

Aluminium and plastic are the light options. The Vdsfand LZ1 is aluminium alloy, which does not rust as iron does but can dull and darken in a dishwasher, which is presumably why its listing suggests a cloth. The LHS pair are plastic-bodied with stainless blades: the lightest grinders on the page at 1.74 and 2.6 pounds, and the green one explicitly keeps its body out of the dishwasher. Plastic is fine for soft meat in small batches, and it is the material we would trust least against sinew and gristle.

Heads, Plates and Tubes: What Is Actually in the Box

A grinder’s number, #8, #12 or #22, is the size of its head and plate. A bigger plate passes more meat per turn. Plate hole size sets the texture: a coarse plate, around 8mm, for chilli and chunky sausage, a fine one, around 4.5 to 5mm, for burgers and smooth fillings. Here is what each listing commits to.

Grinder Head size Plates Sausage parts Other extras stated
VEVOR #12 #12 2; sizes not stated Sausage tube; count not stated Cookie attachment
Huanyu 105B #8 (“#M8”) 2: 4.5mm and 8mm 1 tube in box list; “tubes” in a bullet 2 pushers, 2 brushes, spare shaft sleeve
Huanyu model 8s Not stated Not stated “ONE SAMLL Sausage Tube” None stated
Huanyu HZ8 No. 8 Not counted “Sausage tubes”; count not stated None stated
VEVOR #8 #8 2: 5mm and 8mm 3 plastic tubes 1 blade, 1 meat pusher
ikaufen Not stated One plate named in assembly Sausage stuffer function Reverse function
LHS 190706-2 Not stated 2: coarse and fine 1 sausage stuffer 1 blade, cookie attachment, pusher
LHS 9303 Not stated Not stated Replacements sold; inclusion not stated None stated
Vdsfand LZ1 Not stated Not stated Funnel None stated
Weston #22 #22 2; sizes not stated 3 funnels Knife; 4 x 5 in hopper

Five state a head size, and two are bigger than #8. The Weston is a #22 and the stainless VEVOR a #12. The VEVOR #8, the Huanyu 105B and the Huanyu HZ8 state #8. The other five give no size, and the Huanyu model 8s only hints at one in its model field. For a home cook grinding a few pounds at a time, #8 is the common hand-grinder size; the #12 suits bulk sausage or freezer batches, and the #22 is built for game and bulk meat. For a sense of what a motor adds at the same plate size, our electric meat grinder roundup found the plate number mattered more than the wattage.

Four count their plates, two size them. The VEVOR #8 gives 5mm and 8mm, the Huanyu 105B 4.5mm and 8mm, the LHS 190706-2 says coarse and fine without figures, and the Weston says two plates without sizes. The VEVOR #12 says two plates in its title and no sizes. Everyone else is vague. Two plates, one coarse and one fine, is the useful minimum; one plate means one texture until you buy another.

Uncooked sausages on a white tray on a wooden table
Sausage parts run from one small tube to three; the VEVOR #8 and the Weston each count three.

The Best Manual Meat Grinder for Bones: What the Listings Actually Claim

“Best manual meat grinder for bones” is a real search, usually from raw pet-food makers. So we searched all ten listings for any mention of bone. Four have one. Here they are, word for word.

Grinder Bone wording Body Head
VEVOR #12 “beef, pork, chicken, fish, small bones, veggies, and chili” 304 stainless #12
Huanyu HZ8 “beef, pork, chicken, fish, small bones, and vegetables” Stainless No. 8
VEVOR #8 “beef, pork, fish, and chicken racks” Cast iron #8
Huanyu model 8s “beef, pork, fish, chicken racks, etc.” Stainless Not stated
The other six No bone mentioned — —

None of the four defines its claim. “Small bones” is not a size. “Chicken racks” names the carcass of a chicken, which is mostly thin rib and back bone with cartilage, among the softest bone a cook handles. No listing mentions beef, pork or lamb bone, marrow bones or knuckles, and no listing gives a bone size limit or a warning about what happens if you exceed it. The “chicken racks” line is also word for word the same on the VEVOR #8 and the Huanyu 8s, which is shared marketing copy, not two independent tests.

Our general guidance: a hand grinder is not a bone grinder. Unless a listing says so in specific terms, assume a manual meat grinder is built for meat, fat and soft vegetables. Bone resists the plate far more than muscle, and with a hand crank the only motor is your arm. Pushing bone through can blunt the blade, score the plate, bend the auger or strip the threads on the ring, and it can crack a cast iron or aluminium body or pull a clamp off the table. A plastic-bodied grinder should never see bone at all.

If you try it on one of the four, keep it small and soft. Chicken necks, wing tips and the thin bones of small birds, cut into short pieces, well chilled, fed slowly with plenty of meat around them, through the coarse plate first. Stop if the crank stalls rather than forcing it. Bigger bone needs a motor and a grinder designed for it; our meat grinder for bones guide covers the electric machines that state bone use, and our commercial meat grinder roundup covers heavier-duty options. For breaking poultry down before grinding, a solid pair of shears helps; see our kitchen shears guide.

Same Brand, Same Grinder? Comparing the Model Numbers

Ten listings, six brands. LHS appears twice, VEVOR twice and Huanyu three times. Here is what the model and part numbers say about whether the repeats are one grinder or several.

Listing Model field Part number Verdict on paper
VEVOR #8 Manual Meat Grinder Manual Meat Grinder 8# Distinct: cast iron, #8
VEVOR #12 Manual Meat Grinder Manual Meat Grinder 12# Distinct: stainless, #12
LHS red 9303-red 9303-red Distinct: suction only
LHS green 190706-2 190706-2 Distinct: clamp and suction
Huanyu 8s WJJ-191a Distinct
Huanyu 105B 105B Distinct
Huanyu HY-MMG-1 HY-MMG-1 Distinct

The VEVOR pair share a model field and nothing else. Both read “Manual Meat Grinder”, which is a description rather than a model. The part numbers, 8# and 12#, the head sizes, the materials, the clamp ranges and the weights all differ. The two LHS grinders have different model numbers, mounts and weights, and the three Huanyu grinders have three different part numbers and differ on clamp range, dishwasher scope and kit.

Copy is shared, and one possible twin remains. The Huanyu 8s and the VEVOR #8 use the same sentences about chicken racks, low-moisture vegetables and the clamp. The ikaufen gives the VEVOR #8’s exact 0.39 to 1.38 inch clamp range on another cast iron body. That ikaufen and VEVOR #8 pairing is the one possible hidden twin on the page, but with no weight or matching model number on the ikaufen, the listings cannot confirm it.

Popularity Favours the Grinder With No Clamp

Grinder Overall rank Meat Grinders rank Mounting
LHS 9303 red #20,045 #15 Suction only
VEVOR #8 cast iron #30,415 #26 Clamp to 1.38 in
VEVOR #12 stainless #32,726 #31 Clamp to 1.8 in

LHS 190706-2 green #69,012 #49 Clamp, suction
Huanyu 105B #80,436 #61 Clamp to 1.9 in

Huanyu HZ8 #95,506 #79 Clamp to 1.80 in
Weston #22 #114,853 #97 Clamp, range not stated

The best seller needs no edge. The LHS 9303 leads the page at #15 in Meat Grinders, ahead of every clamp grinder. Whatever drives that, a suction base removes the one fit question every clamp model raises. The two VEVORs follow, both sold by Amazon.com. The most thoroughly documented listing, the Huanyu 105B, sits eighth, the biggest grinder, the Weston #22, sits last, a reminder that rank follows price, visibility and seller as much as specifications.

Best Alternatives

What the Step Up Buys

The suction grinder — LHS 9303. Plastic body, stainless blades, 1.74 pounds, suction only. It buys freedom from worktop edges and the best rank on the page. It gives up a stated kit, a head size and any claim to heavy work.

The #8-class cast iron pair — VEVOR #8 and ikaufen. The traditional heavy hand grinder. The VEVOR buys the fullest counted kit on the page, two sized plates and three tubes, a #8 head and a 5.07 pound body that sits firmly on its clamp. The ikaufen adds a reverse function. Both ask for hand-washing and drying, and both stop at a 1.38 inch clamp.

The stainless #8s — Huanyu 105B, HZ8 and model 8s. Stepping up to stainless buys dishwasher-safe parts and an end to drying and oiling the body. The clamps open wider too, to 1.8 to 1.97 inches. The 105B buys the most detail; the 8s buys the widest clamp and a suction backup; the HZ8 buys a small-bones line and CE certification.

The stainless #12 — VEVOR. Buys the bigger stainless head, 304 stainless, a dishwasher-safe kit and Amazon.com as the seller, at 7.28 pounds. For anyone who grinds more than a pound or two at a time and wants easy cleaning, this is the upgrade that matters most.

The #22 — Weston. The top step in size buys the biggest head, a 4 by 5 inch hopper, two plates, three funnels and the only stated warranty. It costs you 12.8 pounds of tinned cast iron to hand-wash and dry, and a clamp with no stated range. It is a game and bulk-meat tool.

Several round raw burger patties on parchment paper on a kitchen counter
Bigger heads pass more meat per turn; one listing states #22, one #12 and three #8.

What to Check Before You Buy

Measure Your Worktop Edge

Stated clamp ranges here start at 0.39 or 0.4 inches and top out at 1.38, 1.8, 1.80, 1.9 and 1.97 inches. Measure the thickness of the edge where you will grind, including any built-up front lip. Above 1.97 inches, no grinder on this page promises a fit; above 1.38 inches, rule out the VEVOR #8 and the ikaufen. The Weston and the green LHS give no range, so ask.

Look Under the Edge

A clamp needs clear space beneath the overhang for the screw and pad. Drawers, rails, aprons and flush cupboard fronts can all block it. If there is no usable overhang, choose the suction-only LHS 9303, or plan to clamp to a sturdy table or board instead.

Check the Surface for Suction

The LHS 9303 relies on suction alone, and its listing asks for a smooth, dry counter. Glass, sealed stone, glazed tile and smooth laminate suit it; wood, textured stone and grout lines do not. On the two grinders that combine suction with a clamp, the clamp carries the load.

Decide How You Will Clean It

Four stainless listings put at least some parts in the dishwasher, and they differ on which. None of the three cast iron listings mentions a dishwasher; dry and oil those by hand every time. The aluminium Vdsfand suggests a cloth, and the green LHS bars its plastic body from the dishwasher outright.

Choose the Head Size for Your Batches

Five listings state a size: one #22, one #12 and three #8. The bigger heads pass more meat per turn and suit bulk sausage, game or freezer batches. A #8 is the common home size. Five listings give no size at all; ask before you buy if you need replacement plates later.

Count the Plates and Tubes

Four listings count their plates, and two give hole sizes: 5mm and 8mm on the VEVOR #8, 4.5mm and 8mm on the Huanyu 105B. Sausage tubes run from one to three. If you want both a coarse and a fine grind, and more than one casing size, check the box list rather than the title.

Read Any Bone Claim Narrowly

Four listings mention small bones or chicken racks, none defines them, and none mentions beef, pork or lamb bone. Treat a manual grinder as a meat grinder. If bone is the job, use a grinder rated for it in specific terms, and never put bone through a plastic-bodied grinder.

Common Mistakes

  • Buying a clamp grinder without measuring the worktop. The widest stated clamp here opens to 1.97 inches; the VEVOR #8 and ikaufen stop at 1.38.
  • Forgetting the overhang. A clamp needs clear space under the edge; a drawer or flush cupboard front can block it whatever the thickness.
  • Putting cast iron in the dishwasher. None of the three cast iron listings mentions one, and the VEVOR #8 asks you to dry it thoroughly before storing.
  • Assuming every stainless part is dishwasher-safe. The Huanyu HZ8 limits it to plates and blades; the 105B leaves the blade off its list.
  • Trusting suction on a wet or textured counter. The LHS 9303’s own listing asks for a smooth, dry surface, and grinding puts water and fat on it.
  • Reading “small bones” as any bone. Four listings mention bone; none defines a size and none mentions beef, pork or lamb bone.
  • Assuming an unstated clamp fits. The Weston #22 and the green LHS call their clamps adjustable and give no range; ask before you buy.
  • Taking the title as the box list. The Huanyu 105B title says sausage stuffer and a bullet says tubes; its itemised list includes one tube.

Who Should Buy Which

Buy the VEVOR #12 stainless if you grind in batches. The largest stainless head on the page, 304 stainless steel, dishwasher-safe detachable parts, a clamp to 1.8 inches (45 mm) and Amazon.com as the seller. Accept 7.28 pounds of grinder and plate sizes the listing does not give.

Buy the Weston #22 if you process game or bulk meat. The biggest head here, a 4 by 5 inch hopper, two plates, three funnels and a one-year warranty. Accept 12.8 pounds of tinned cast iron to hand-wash and a clamp with no stated range.

Buy the Huanyu 105B if you want every detail in writing. A stainless #8 with 4.5mm and 8mm plates, a clamp to 1.9 inches, and the only listing that names each dishwasher-safe part. Accept that the box list shows one sausage tube.

Buy the Huanyu model 8s if your worktop is thick. The widest stated clamp, 1.97 inches, plus a suction cup, on a stainless body called dishwasher safe. Accept that plates and head size are not stated and the dimension fields are not credible.

Buy the Huanyu HZ8 if you want a plain stainless #8 that names small bones. A clamp to 1.80 inches and CE certification. Accept that only the plates and blades go in the dishwasher, and that no weight or dimensions are given.

Buy the VEVOR #8 cast iron if sausage is the point. Two sized plates, three tubes and a pusher, the fullest counted kit, sold by Amazon.com. Accept hand-washing and drying, and a clamp that stops at 1.38 inches.

Buy the ikaufen if you want cast iron with a reverse crank. The same 1.38 inch clamp range as the VEVOR #8 and the only stated reverse function. Accept a listing with no weight, head size or kit count.

Buy the LHS 190706-2 in green if you want light and two-way mounting. Suction plus clamp, two plates, a stuffer and a cookie attachment at 2.6 pounds. Accept a plastic body that stays out of the dishwasher and no stated clamp range.

Buy the LHS 9303 in red if you have no clampable edge. Suction only, 1.74 pounds, and the best rank on the page. Accept a smooth-surface requirement, no stated kit and soft meat only.

Buy the Vdsfand LZ1 only after the seller tells you how it mounts. A rust-free aluminium body and a large feed mouth. Accept a warranty field that reads “no” and no head size or plate count.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best manual meat grinder?

For most buyers who grind more than occasionally, the VEVOR #12 304 Stainless Steel Manual Meat Grinder. Its #12 head is the largest among the stainless grinders here, so it passes more meat per turn than the #8 grinders, and it is stainless steel with detachable parts the listing calls dishwasher-safe. Its clamp is stated at 0.4 to 1.8 inches, or 10 to 45 mm, and it was sold by Amazon.com at capture. Its drawbacks are weight, 7.28 pounds, and a listing that does not give its plate hole sizes. If you want a smaller stainless grinder with everything spelled out, the Huanyu 105B states 4.5mm and 8mm plates, a clamp to 1.9 inches and exactly which parts go in the dishwasher. If you have no worktop edge to clamp to, the LHS 9303 holds by suction and is the best-ranked grinder here, though it is a light plastic-bodied grinder for soft meat. For game or bulk meat, the Weston #22 is the biggest head here.

What is the best hand crank meat grinder for a thick countertop?

Look at the clamp range before anything else. Of the ten listings here, six state one, and every range starts at about 0.39 inches. The tops differ: 1.97 inches on the Huanyu model 8s, 1.9 on the Huanyu 105B, 1.80 on the Huanyu HZ8, 1.8 on the VEVOR #12 (whose 45 mm figure works out at about 1.77 inches by our arithmetic), and 1.38 on both the cast iron VEVOR #8 and the ikaufen. Above 1.97 inches, about 50mm, no listing here promises a fit. Measure the actual edge, including any built-up lip, and check there is clear space beneath it for the screw. If your worktop is too thick or has no overhang, clamp the grinder to a sturdy table instead, or choose the suction-based LHS 9303, which needs no edge but does need a smooth, dry surface to hold.

What is the best manual meat grinder for bones?

Honestly, none of these is a bone grinder, and as a general rule a hand-cranked meat grinder is not built for bone unless its listing says so in specific terms. Four listings here mention bone. The VEVOR #12 and the Huanyu HZ8 say small bones, and the VEVOR #8 cast iron and the Huanyu model 8s say chicken racks. None defines a size, and none mentions beef, pork or lamb bone. Of the four, the stainless VEVOR #12 has the largest head and the heaviest body, which is the better starting point if you insist. Keep to soft poultry bone such as chicken necks and wing tips, cut small and well chilled, fed slowly with meat, through the coarse plate. Stop if the crank stalls. For anything harder, or for regular raw pet food, use an electric grinder rated for bone. Never put bone through a plastic-bodied grinder.

Is a cast iron or stainless steel manual meat grinder better?

It depends on how much care you will give it. Cast iron is the traditional material, heavy and solid on a clamp, but bare iron rusts if left wet. The three cast iron listings here, the VEVOR #8, the ikaufen and the tinned Weston #22, do not mention a dishwasher, and the VEVOR asks you to dry it thoroughly before storing. That means hand-washing straight after use, drying every part and wiping on a little food-safe oil. Stainless steel removes most of that. All four stainless listings here put at least some parts in the dishwasher, though they disagree on which, and two still suggest oiling the blade or plate. On this page the stainless clamps also open wider, 1.8 to 1.97 inches, against 1.38 for the two cast iron grinders that state a range. If you grind often and hate drying, choose stainless; if you like a classic tool and do not mind the routine, cast iron is fine.

Can you put a manual meat grinder in the dishwasher?

Only if its listing says so, and only the parts it names. On this page, the Huanyu 105B is the clearest: top-rack only, for the main body, plates, spiral shaft, handle, sausage tube and food pusher, with the blade left off the list and an instruction to dry and oil the blade and plate afterwards. The VEVOR #12 says its detachable parts are dishwasher-safe. The Huanyu model 8s says the grinder is dishwasher safe without itemising. The Huanyu HZ8 limits it to grinding plates and cross blades. The LHS 190706-2 allows the blades and bars its white plastic body. The three cast iron grinders and the aluminium Vdsfand do not mention a dishwasher at all, and cast iron in particular should be washed by hand and dried at once. The LHS 9303 is silent too. When a listing says nothing, hand-wash.

Are suction-base meat grinders as stable as clamp grinders?

On the right surface, a suction base can hold well; on the wrong one, it will slide. The LHS 9303 is the only suction-only grinder here, and its listing sets the conditions: a smooth counter with no water, the grinder placed at the edge, pressed down to expel the air, then the knob turned to lock the suction. Glass, sealed stone, glazed tile and smooth laminate suit it. Wood, textured stone and grout lines do not, and water or fat getting under the seal will weaken it during a session. A clamp, by contrast, does not care about the surface finish, only about thickness and overhang. Two grinders here, the Huanyu model 8s and the LHS 190706-2, combine both, which is the most forgiving arrangement. For light jobs, suction is fine; for tough cuts or long sessions, a clamp is steadier.

What size manual meat grinder do I need, #8, #12 or #22?

The number describes the head and plate. A #12 plate is larger than a #8, so more meat passes on each turn of the handle, which matters most when you are grinding several pounds for sausage or the freezer. On this page, the Weston is a #22 and the VEVOR stainless grinder a #12. The VEVOR cast iron, the Huanyu 105B and the Huanyu HZ8 state #8, which is the common home size and lighter to crank. The other five listings give no size, which makes buying replacement plates later harder, so ask the seller if that matters to you. For a pound or two of burger meat at a time, a #8 is plenty. If you make sausage in batches, the #12 is worth its extra weight, 7.28 pounds on the VEVOR; the #22 Weston, at 12.8 pounds, is for game and bulk meat. The Huanyu 105B is the only listing with a throughput claim, 5 pounds in 10 minutes, which is the seller’s figure.

Are the repeated brands on this page the same grinder?

No, on the evidence of the model numbers. VEVOR, LHS and Huanyu each appear more than once. The two VEVOR listings share the generic model field Manual Meat Grinder, but their part numbers (8# and 12#), materials (cast iron and 304 stainless), head sizes and clamp ranges all differ. The two LHS grinders carry model numbers 9303-red and 190706-2, mount differently (suction only against suction plus clamp) and list different weights, 1.74 and 2.6 pounds. The three Huanyu grinders carry part numbers WJJ-191a, 105B and HY-MMG-1 and differ on clamp range, dishwasher scope and kit. Shared marketing copy does appear: the Huanyu 8s and the VEVOR #8 use the same sentences about chicken racks and vegetables. The one possible hidden twin is the ikaufen and the VEVOR #8, both cast iron with an identical 0.39 to 1.38 inch clamp range, but the ikaufen lists no weight or matching model number, so the listings cannot confirm it.

A clamp to 1.9 inches, 4.5mm and 8mm plates, and every dishwasher-safe part named, at 3.51 lb.

A manual meat grinder is only as good as its hold on the table, and the listings split three ways on how they hold. Eight clamp, one relies on suction alone, and one never says. The six clamp listings that print a range all start at about 0.39 inches and stop between 1.38 and 1.97 inches. Past 1.97 inches, no grinder on this page promises to grip your worktop.

Material decides the washing up. The three cast iron grinders want hand-washing, drying and oil, and none mentions a dishwasher. The four stainless grinders all allow the dishwasher for some parts, though they disagree on which. The aluminium Vdsfand suggests a cloth, and the plastic LHS grinders keep their bodies out of the machine.

Bones are a narrower claim than the search suggests. Four listings mention small bones or chicken racks, none defines them, and none names beef, pork or lamb bone. Treat a hand grinder as a meat grinder, and if bone is the job, use a machine rated for it. And where a clamp has no stated range, as on the Weston #22 and the green LHS, ask before you buy.

So measure your worktop edge first, then choose the metal. Check the clamp range against your edge and the space beneath it, decide whether you will hand-dry cast iron or want stainless in the dishwasher, then count the plates and tubes in the box list rather than the title. Once the grinder is set up, our electric salt and pepper grinder set roundup covers the seasoning end of the job.

If you buy one manual meat grinder from this page, make it the VEVOR #12 stainless: the largest stainless head here, 304 stainless steel, dishwasher-safe parts, a clamp to 1.8 inches and Amazon.com as the seller. If you want a lighter stainless #8 with every detail in writing, choose the Huanyu 105B; if you have no edge to clamp to, the suction-based LHS 9303 is the one that will still work; for game, the Weston #22.
