Not One Best Muffin Pan of Ten Tells You How Much a Cup Holds

Muffins baked in a dark twelve-cup pan on a pink surface

Affiliate Disclosure: As an Amazon Associate, we earn from qualifying purchases. This does not affect the price you pay.

Every muffin pan on this page counts its cups, usually twelve. Read the ten listings side by side, though, and not one tells you how much batter a cup holds. No ounces, no millilitres, no tablespoons.

Four listings give a dimension instead, and they do not agree on what standard means. Fimary, the best-selling pan here, puts its “Standard Cup Size” at approximately 1.8 inches in diameter. USA Pan says “Each cup measures 2.75 x 2.13 x 1.38 inch”. Redfly says “2.75 in cups — true regular size”. The other six give a cup count and nothing else.

So this guide sorts the ten by what each listing lets you count before you buy: the cups and what is said about their size, the material and whether a silicone pan carries its own frame, the coating and its PFAS wording, the oven limit, the number of pans, the dishwasher claim and the warranty. Exactly one listing, the Nordic Ware, states a warranty term. Star ratings and review counts were not captured for this roundup; popularity below is Amazon’s Best Sellers Rank only.

Best Sellers Ranks and specifications are taken from each manufacturer’s Amazon listing as displayed on 5 October 2026 through a United States connection, and may change. Cup sizes are quoted exactly as each listing gives them. No listing says whether its diameter is measured at the rim or the base, and none gives a volume. GoodCook’s bullet gives both 3.5 in and 1.875 in for its cups without saying which is which. Cups in the box are counted from titles and bullets: the Amazon Basics title says set of 2 while its item-count field says 1, and the BRONYPRO item-count field says 12, which matches its cup count rather than a pan count. Oven limits are the highest temperature each listing names; Vinino, Redfly and BRONYPRO all quote -104°F to 446°F. Ranks are overall Best Sellers Ranks as returned on 5 October 2026; all ten also rank in Amazon’s Muffin & Cupcake Pans category, from #1 to #25. Five pans were sold by Amazon.com at capture; the other five by brands or third-party sellers. Star ratings and review counts were not captured for any product here.

How We Chose These Ten

We researched current listings, compared manufacturer specifications and documentation, and read each listing’s claims about its cups, its material, its coating and its care line by line. We did not carry out hands-on testing, and nothing below is presented as measured performance data. Star ratings and review counts were not captured for this roundup. We used Amazon Best Sellers Rank, buy-box stock and listing specifications instead, and nothing on this page describes or implies how owners have scored these pans.

  • Muffin and cupcake pans only — every product here is a multi-cup pan sold for muffins and cupcakes, metal or silicone, regular, mini or jumbo. Loose silicone baking cups, paper liners and single-cavity moulds were not in the running.
  • Cups counted, then sized — we logged the cup count from each title and bullet, then any cup dimension the listing gives, exactly as printed. Where a listing gives no cup size, we write “Not stated” and do not infer one from the pan’s outline.
  • Material and frame as stated — aluminized steel, steel, aluminium or silicone, and for silicone, whether the listing describes a metal frame and what it says about using a baking sheet underneath.
  • Coating wording recorded verbatim — where a listing names PFAS, PTFE or PFOA, we quote it. Where it says only “nonstick coating”, we record that the coating is unnamed. We do not treat a narrower claim as a broader one.
  • Oven limit, dishwasher and warranty as stated — the highest oven temperature the listing names, its exact dishwasher wording, and any warranty term in the spec table or bullets. A field that holds no actual term is reported as such.
  • Our arithmetic labelled — cup volumes estimated from stated dimensions, per-pan weights from set weights and cup totals are our arithmetic, and say so wherever they appear.
  • Popularity from Best Sellers Rank only — ranks are quoted exactly as returned on 5 October 2026, overall and in Muffin & Cupcake Pans. Ranks move constantly; read the order, not the precise numbers.
  • Verified stock and seller — each product was the buy-box offer and in stock on amazon.com on 5 October 2026.

The Ten Muffin Pans in Detail

1. USA Pan Bakeware Muffin Pan, 12-Well, Set of 2, Aluminized Steel — Best Overall

Two rectangular aluminized steel muffin pans with twelve round wells each and a fluted ridged surface

The one listing that measures its cup in three dimensions, in two heavy-gauge pans.

Key Specifications

Cups 12 standard wells per pan; 24 in the set
Cup size 2.75 x 2.13 x 1.38 in per cup, stated
Material Commercial-grade, heavy-gauge aluminized steel
Coating Americoat silicone coating, made without PTFE, PFOA and BPA
PFAS wording Not used; PTFE and PFOA named
Oven limit 450°F
Dishwasher Not stated; hot water, mild soap and gentle brush
Pans in box 2
Warranty Not stated
Listed weight 3.8 pounds for the set
Model 1200AMZ
Best Sellers Rank #1,375 overall; #13 in Muffin & Cupcake Pans

Why We Recommend It

This is the only listing on the page that sizes its cups properly. “Each cupcake and muffin pan has 12 standard size wells; commercial grade and heavy gauge aluminized steel; Each cup measures 2.75 x 2.13 x 1.38 inch.” Three numbers for one cup. The listing does not label them, but the usual reading for a tapered muffin cup is rim diameter, base diameter and depth: 2.75 inches across the top, 2.13 inches across the bottom, 1.38 inches deep. Even the spec table’s dimension fields carry the same three figures, which tells you the seller thinks of the cup, not the pan, as the thing worth measuring.

Those three numbers let you work out what nobody prints. Treat the cup as a cone with its point cut off, take the listing’s figures as rim, base and depth, and it holds about 6.5 cubic inches: about 3.6 US fluid ounces, or roughly 106 millilitres, filled to the brim. That is our arithmetic, not a listing claim, and the fluted wells of a real pan will shift it a little. But it is the only cup on this page you can put a volume on with any confidence, and it lines up with the cup size that most standard muffin recipes assume.

The coating claim is specific, and narrower than PFAS. “Nonstick Americoat coating – a patented silicone coating which is made without PTFE, PFOA and BPA – provides quick and easy release of all baked-goods.” It names the coating, says what it is based on and names three things it is made without. It does not use the word PFAS. PTFE and PFOA are the two compounds most buyers mean when they ask about nonstick chemistry, so the claim covers the usual question; if you want the broader word in writing, Wilton and BRONYPRO are the listings that use it.

Aluminized steel is the material the rest of the metal pans are measured against. “Made from Aluminized steel; a mix of steel for strength and durability and aluminum for superior heat conductivity; oven safe to 450°F.” 450°F is the highest oven limit any listing here gives, shared with Fimary, Bake Boss and Wilton, and comfortably above the 350 to 425°F range most muffin recipes bake at. The set weighs 3.8 pounds, about 1.9 pounds per pan by our arithmetic, the heaviest per pan of any listing that gives a usable weight.

The care line stops short of the dishwasher. “Wash with hot water, mild soap and gentle scrub brush or sponge.” The listing does not say dishwasher safe, and it does not say dishwasher unsafe either. Read the silence as hand wash; a coated pan generally keeps its release longer that way. No warranty is stated in the listing.

What to weigh. It is sold by Amazon.com and ranks #1,375 overall and #13 in Muffin & Cupcake Pans. Two pans give 24 cups, enough for a double batch or a 12-cup recipe and a dozen cupcakes side by side. Against every other pan here, the step up buys the one thing the page otherwise lacks: a cup you can measure before you bake in it. The listing adds that USA Pan has made bakeware “in the USA for over 60 years”.

Pros

  • Full cup measurement: 2.75 x 2.13 x 1.38 in
  • Heavy-gauge aluminized steel
  • Coating named; made without PTFE and PFOA
  • 450°F, the highest limit here
  • Two pans, 24 cups
  • Sold by Amazon.com

Cons

  • No dishwasher claim
  • Warranty not stated
  • Does not use the word PFAS
  • Cup figures are unlabelled
  • Overall pan size not stated
  • Heaviest set at 3.8 lb

Best for: A baker who wants a known standard cup, a named coating and two sturdy pans for double batches.

2. BRONYPRO Silicone Muffin Pans for Baking with Metal Frame, 12-Cup, Blue — Best Silicone

Blue silicone muffin pan with twelve round cups set into a dark metal frame, with a small cleaning brush beside it

The silicone pan that says it needs no baking sheet, and the only one to say PFAS-free.

Key Specifications

Cups 12, regular size
Cup size Not stated
Material Food-grade silicone cups in a carbon steel frame
Coating “No chemical coating”
PFAS wording Free from BPA, PTFE, PFOA and PFAS, stated
Oven limit 446°F; range -104°F to 446°F
Baking sheet “Does not need a baking sheet for support”
Dishwasher Dishwasher safe, stated
Pans in box 1, with a cleaning brush
Warranty Not stated
Pan size Not usable; spec fields 7.87 x 6.35 x 2.5 in
Best Sellers Rank #3,285 overall; #18 in Muffin & Cupcake Pans

Why We Recommend It

This listing answers the silicone question in so many words. “Unlike traditional silicone muffin pan, our silicone muffin pan with metal frame retains the advantages of easy-to-release but also has the features of stability and durability, and does not need a baking sheet for support.” That is the claim that matters most for a silicone pan. Unframed silicone sags when the cups are full, so the general advice is to set it on a sheet pan before you fill it. Four listings here describe a frame; BRONYPRO is the one that says outright what the frame is for, and names its metal: a “carbon steel frame”.

It is the only silicone pan to use the word PFAS. “The flexible cups are made from food-grade silicone with no chemical coating and are free from BPA, PTFE, PFOA and PFAS.” The other four silicone listings say BPA free and stop there. Silicone does not need a nonstick coating, so the claim is unsurprising, but it is the only silicone listing that puts it in writing, and the only listing on the page to name all four of BPA, PTFE, PFOA and PFAS together.

The care claims are the broadest of any silicone pan. “Oven, refrigerator, freezer and dishwasher safe from -104°F to 446°F for everyday baking, freezing and meal prep.” 446°F is 230°C, the same limit Vinino and Redfly quote in the same words, and four degrees short of the 450°F the metal pans and two other silicone pans give. That gap will not matter at muffin temperatures. A cleaning brush comes in the box, pitched for “the cup edges and carbon steel frame”, which is where batter tends to collect on a framed pan.

What it does not tell you is how big anything is. No cup diameter, no depth, no volume. The title says “12-Cup Regular Size” and the bullet says it “fits standard recipe”. The spec table gives 7.87 by 6.35 by 2.5 inches, which is too small for twelve regular cups laid flat, so treat it as a packed size rather than the pan, and the item-count field reads 12, the number of cups. There is no model number, so you cannot match it against other framed pans by code.

What to weigh. It is sold by BRONYPRO and ranks #3,285 overall and #18 in Muffin & Cupcake Pans, ninth of the ten. It is one pan, so 12 cups. No warranty is stated. If you want silicone release without a sheet pan underneath, and you want the PFAS question answered in the listing itself, this is the one that does both; check the outline with the seller if oven space is tight.

Pros

  • Carbon steel frame; no baking sheet needed, stated
  • PFAS, PTFE, PFOA and BPA all excluded, stated
  • “No chemical coating”
  • Dishwasher safe, stated
  • Cleaning brush included
  • Freezer and refrigerator use stated

Cons

  • Cup size not stated
  • Pan outline not usable from the listing
  • One pan, 12 cups
  • 446°F, a touch under the 450°F pans
  • No model number
  • Warranty not stated

Best for: A silicone buyer who wants a frame that stands on its own and the PFAS question answered in writing.

3. GoodCook Everyday Nonstick Steel Jumbo Texas Muffin Pan, 6-Cup, Gray — Best Jumbo

Gray nonstick steel muffin pan with six large deep round cups in two rows of three

The only jumbo pan on the page, and its one cup figure comes in two versions.

Key Specifications

Cups 6 jumbo
Cup size “3.5” gourmet-sized cups with 1.875” diameters”
Material Heavy duty gauge steel
Coating Scratch-resistant nonstick; type not named
PFAS wording Not stated
Oven limit Not stated
Dishwasher Dishwasher safe, stated
Pan size 13.5 x 8.75 x 1.8 in
Pans in box 1
Warranty “Satisfaction guaranteed”; no term
Model 04033
Best Sellers Rank #1,282 overall; #9 in Muffin & Cupcake Pans

Why We Recommend It

If you want jumbo muffins, this is the only pan here that makes them. “JUMBO SIZE CUPS: Larger 3.5” gourmet-sized cups with 1.875” diameters allow you to make bakery-style oversized Texas muffins at home.” Six cups in a 13.5 by 8.75 inch pan. Every other listing on the page is a regular or mini pan, so for the best jumbo muffin pan on these ten listings, the choice is made for you.

The cup figure needs reading carefully. The bullet gives two numbers, 3.5 inches and 1.875 inches, and calls the second the diameter. It does not say what the 3.5 inches measures. The pan itself is 1.8 inches high, so the cups cannot be 3.5 inches deep, and a 1.875 inch rim would be smaller than the regular cups on the USA Pan and Redfly listings. The likeliest reading is 3.5 inches across the rim and 1.875 inches across the base, or 1.875 inches deep, but the listing does not say. Six cups across 13.5 by 8.75 inches leaves about 4.5 by 4.4 inches per cup, by our arithmetic, which fits a 3.5 inch rim with room to spare.

No volume, so here is a rough one. If 3.5 inches is the rim and the cup is close to the pan’s 1.8 inch height, a straight-sided cup that size would hold at most about 17 cubic inches, roughly 9.6 US fluid ounces, by our arithmetic. Real jumbo cups taper, so the true figure will be lower, but it is a reminder that a jumbo cup holds something like two to three regular cups’ worth of batter. A recipe for 12 regular muffins fills somewhere around four to six of these, and needs a longer bake.

The steel is described; the coating and the heat limit are not. “MADE WITH DURABLE STEEL: Measures 13.5” x 1.8” x 8.75” and is made with heavy duty gauge steel to resist warping.” The coating is “scratch-resistant nonstick” and “dishwasher-safe”, and the listing never names it or says what it is made without. There is no oven temperature anywhere in the listing. A jumbo cup often bakes hotter at the start to get a domed top, so that is a figure worth asking for.

What to weigh. It is sold by Amazon.com and ranks #1,282 overall and #9 in Muffin & Cupcake Pans, the best-ranked metal pan after Wilton and Amazon Basics. The warranty field reads “Satisfaction guaranteed please contact BradshawHome with any concerns”, which is a promise of service rather than a term. The case for it is simple: six big cups, steel, dishwasher safe. The case against is two silences, coating and oven limit, that the regular-size pans mostly fill.

Pros

  • The only jumbo pan here
  • Six large cups, about 3.5 in across
  • Heavy-gauge steel, warp resistance stated
  • Dishwasher safe, stated
  • Works with or without liners, stated
  • Sold by Amazon.com

Cons

  • Oven limit not stated
  • Coating type not named
  • No PFAS or PTFE wording
  • Two cup figures, unlabelled
  • Six cups per batch
  • Warranty is a service promise, no term

Best for: Anyone baking bakery-style jumbo muffins who wants a steel pan that goes in the dishwasher.

4. Fimary Silicone Muffin Pan with Metal Reinforced Frame, 12-Cup, 1 Pack — Best Seller

Cream silicone muffin pan with twelve round cups held in a thin metal frame on a light worktop

The best-selling muffin pan on Amazon at capture, with the smallest standard cup any listing here prints.

Key Specifications

Cups 12, standard
Cup size About 1.8 in diameter, about 1.45 in deep
Material Food-grade silicone with a metal reinforced frame
Coating None mentioned; silicone surface
PFAS wording Not stated; BPA free
Oven limit 450°F (232°C)
Dishwasher Not stated
Pan size About 14.5 x 9 in
Pans in box 1
Warranty Not stated
Model FM-muffin
Best Sellers Rank #70 overall; #1 in Muffin & Cupcake Pans

Why We Recommend It

This is the pan Amazon sells most of, by a wide margin. At capture it ranked #70 overall and #1 in Muffin & Cupcake Pans. The next-best muffin pan on this page sat at #581 overall. Whatever is driving that, it is not a long spec sheet: the listing is five bullets about silicone, a frame and a 450°F limit, and one line of dimensions.

That one line is the problem. “Standard Cup Size- Diameter: approximately 1.8”; Depth: approximately 1.45”; Overall Pan Size: Length: approximately 14.5” Width: approximately 9”.” 1.8 inches is the smallest cup diameter any listing on this page prints. USA Pan and Redfly both give 2.75 inches for their standard cups. If 1.8 inches is the rim, a cup that size and 1.45 inches deep would hold no more than about 2 US fluid ounces even with straight sides, by our arithmetic: closer to a mini cup than a standard one. The likelier reading is that 1.8 inches is the base of a tapered cup, but the listing does not say, and that is the figure the best-selling pan chose to print.

The frame is described; what it means for a sheet pan is not. “It features a metal reinforced frame that ensures stability and durability. Say goodbye to flimsy pans that warp; this muffin pans maintains its shape even under high heat.” The listing never names the metal and never says whether you can carry it full without a tray beneath. BRONYPRO says its framed pan needs no baking sheet; Fimary leaves you to assume. Until you know how stiff it is, set it on a sheet pan to fill and move it.

The oven limit is at the top of the page; the care line is missing. “Designed to withstand temperatures up to 450°F (232°C), our non toxic muffin pan can go from the freezer straight to the oven.” 450°F matches the best metal pans here. The listing says release needs no “greasing or cooking spray”. It says nothing about the dishwasher, and nothing about PFAS beyond BPA free. The spec table lists 0.22 pounds, light for a framed pan, and gives the model as FM-muffin; no other listing here shares that code.

What to weigh. It is sold by StarLight USA and comes as one pan, so 12 cups. No warranty is stated. Its outline, about 14.5 by 9 inches, is within a quarter-inch of the Vinino and Bake Boss framed pans, which suggests a common design, though nothing in the listings confirms it. If you buy it, measure a cup when it arrives and set your fill by that, not by the word standard.

Pros

  • #70 overall; #1 in Muffin & Cupcake Pans
  • Metal reinforced frame
  • 450°F (232°C), stated
  • Cup and pan dimensions given
  • No greasing needed, stated
  • Freezer to oven, stated

Cons

  • 1.8 in cup, the smallest standard figure here
  • Dishwasher not stated
  • Frame metal not named
  • Sheet-pan support not addressed
  • One pan, 12 cups
  • No PFAS wording; warranty not stated

Best for: A buyer who wants the best-selling framed silicone pan and will check the cup size on arrival.

5. Bake Boss Silicone Muffin Pans, 2-Pack Regular 12-Cup and Mini 24-Cup — Best Mixed Set

Two cream silicone muffin pans in metal frames, one with twelve regular cups and one with twenty-four small cups

Thirty-six cups in one box, both pans framed, and no size given for either.

Key Specifications

Cups 12 regular + 24 mini; 36 in the set
Cup size Not stated for either pan
Material 100% food-grade silicone; steel frames
Coating None; “naturally nonstick silicone”
PFAS wording Not stated; BPA free
Oven limit 450°F (232°C)
Dishwasher Dishwasher safe, stated
Pan size 14.75 x 9.0 x 1.36 in
Pans in box 2
Warranty Not stated
Brand / maker BAKE BOSS; manufacturer RoyalXury
Best Sellers Rank #689 overall; #5 in Muffin & Cupcake Pans

Why We Recommend It

This is the most cups in one box on the page. “This versatile set includes one 12-cup regular muffin pan and one 24-cup mini muffin pan, letting you bake standard muffins and bite-size treats with one purchase.” Thirty-six cups across two pans. It is also the only set here that mixes sizes; every other two-pack is two identical pans. If you bake regular muffins one day and mini cupcakes for a party the next, this covers both without a second order.

Both pans have frames, and the listing calls them steel. “Both pans feature built-in metal reinforcement that keeps their shape when filled. The sturdy steel frame prevents bending or spills, making it easy to move from counter to oven.” That is close to BRONYPRO’s no-sheet claim without quite making it: it says the pan holds its shape when full and moves from counter to oven, but it does not say a baking sheet is unnecessary. Of the four framed listings, it is one of two that name the frame’s metal.

It gives no size for any of the 36 cups. Not the regular cups, not the mini cups. The spec table gives an outline of 14.75 by 9.0 by 1.36 inches, which is presumably the larger pan, and a size field that reads “Regular + Mini Set (12/24 Cups Pan)”. If the mini pan shares the outline, 24 cups in the same footprint as 12 means each mini cup gets about half the area, by our arithmetic, but the listing does not confirm the mini pan’s size.

The heat and care lines are among the best on the page. “These silicone baking pans are oven safe up to 450°F (232°C), freezer safe for make-ahead recipes, and dishwasher safe for effortless cleaning.” 450°F is the top limit here, and dishwasher safe is stated for both pans. The coating question does not really arise for plain silicone, and the listing says “Naturally Nonstick Silicone” and BPA free, without any PFAS wording.

What to weigh. It is sold by Bake Boss USA and ranks #689 overall and #5 in Muffin & Cupcake Pans. The brand field reads BAKE BOSS and the manufacturer field RoyalXury, and the title carries no brand at all. The model field just says “Silicone Muffin Pan”, so there is no code to match. Its regular pan outline is within a quarter-inch of the Fimary and Vinino pans, and its 450°F (232°C) wording matches Fimary’s exactly. No warranty is stated.

Pros

  • 36 cups, the most in one box
  • Regular and mini pans together
  • Steel frames on both pans
  • 450°F (232°C), stated
  • Dishwasher safe, stated
  • #5 in Muffin & Cupcake Pans

Cons

  • No cup size for either pan
  • Mini pan outline not stated
  • No-sheet use not stated outright
  • No PFAS wording
  • No real model number
  • Warranty not stated

Best for: A baker who wants regular and mini cups in one order and prefers framed silicone that goes in the dishwasher.

6. Vinino 2-Pack Silicone Muffin Pan with Metal Reinforced Frame, 12-Cup Regular — Best Framed Pair

Two cream silicone muffin pans with twelve cups each in thin metal frames, one stacked on the other

Two framed pans that stack and hang, and a microwave claim that sits oddly with a metal frame.

Key Specifications

Cups 12 regular per pan; 24 in the set
Cup size Not stated
Material 100% food-grade silicone; metal reinforced frame
Coating None mentioned; non-stick silicone surface
PFAS wording Not stated; BPA free
Oven limit 446°F; range -104°F to 446°F
Other uses stated Oven, microwave, freezer
Dishwasher Dishwasher safe, stated
Pan size 14.49 x 8.58 x 1.53 in, from spec fields
Pans in box 2
Model 4126-cream-2
Best Sellers Rank #581 overall; #4 in Muffin & Cupcake Pans

Why We Recommend It

This is the second-best-selling pan on the page, and it is two framed pans. At capture it ranked #581 overall and #4 in Muffin & Cupcake Pans. The title says “2Pack Silicone Muffin Pan for Baking with Metal Reinforced Frame, 12 Cup Regular Size”, so 24 cups. The frame is pitched for handling and storage: “You can hang it on the top rack or stack it on top of each other for space saving and easy access!”

The microwave claim is the line to question. “Can withstand temperatures from -104°F to 446°F, no irritating odor, will not fade, health and safety, suitable for oven, microwave, freezer.” Silicone on its own is generally fine in a microwave. This pan is described as having a metal reinforced frame, and microwave makers generally warn against putting metal inside. The listing does not say whether the frame is fully sealed inside the silicone or whether that changes anything. Until the seller confirms, keep it to the oven and the freezer.

The frame is not described as replacing a sheet pan. “Our silicone muffin pans for baking with metal reinforced frame make it easier to put in and take out of the oven, not only is it safe to handle, but also sturdy, and maintains its perfect shape during the baking process!” Easier to handle and holds its shape is a step short of BRONYPRO’s plain statement that no baking sheet is needed. The metal is not named.

No cup size, and an outline you have to reassemble. The spec table’s dimension fields read 14.49 inches long, 8.58 inches high and 1.53 inches wide, which only makes sense with height and width swapped: a pan about 14.5 by 8.6 inches and 1.5 inches deep. That is within a quarter-inch of the Fimary and Bake Boss framed pans. The temperature wording, -104°F to 446°F, matches Redfly and BRONYPRO word for word. Nothing in the listings says the pans come from one maker, but the numbers keep lining up.

What to weigh. It is sold by DAHE DIRECT and gives its model as 4126-cream-2, a code no other listing here shares. Dishwasher safe is stated: “Rinse with water or place in the dishwasher.” No warranty is stated and no PFAS wording appears beyond BPA free. As a pair of framed pans with a dishwasher claim and the second-best rank here, it is a sound choice; just leave the frame out of the microwave.

Pros

  • Two framed pans, 24 cups
  • #4 in Muffin & Cupcake Pans
  • Dishwasher safe, stated

Model 191011470; part number 191002982
Best Sellers Rank #928 overall; #7 in Muffin & Cupcake Pans

Why We Recommend It

This is the listing that puts the PFAS question in its title. “Wilton Gold Non-Stick Muffin Pan, Made Without PFAS, 12-Cup.” Of the five coated metal pans here, it is the only one to use the word, and with BRONYPRO, one of only two listings on the page that does. For a buyer who has decided they want a coated metal pan without PFAS, that is a short list, and Wilton is on it alone.

It never says what the pan is made of. The bullets describe “dent-resistant construction”, “durable construction that resists warping” and “even heat distribution”. None of them names steel, aluminium or anything else. Every other metal pan here names its metal. The colour field says Silver while the title says Gold, which is probably the base and the finish, but the listing does not say that either.

The coating has a heat limit and a scratch claim, and no name. “This muffin pan is oven safe to 450°F and scratch-resistant; it also features an easy-release coating for perfectly shaped treats every time.” 450°F ties for the top limit on the page. The coating is described by what it does, not what it is; the only thing you know about its chemistry is the PFAS line in the title. The extended handles are a practical plus on a pan that comes out of a hot oven full.

The dishwasher line comes with a however. “This muffin pan is dishwasher safe; however, for best results, wash in warm, soapy water before first and after each use.” So it survives the dishwasher, and Wilton would rather you did not. Count it as dishwasher-tolerant, hand wash preferred. The warranty field in the spec table holds the single word “Warranty”, with no term, so we treat the warranty as not stated.

What to weigh. It is sold by Amazon.com and ranks #928 overall and #7 in Muffin & Cupcake Pans, the best-ranked metal pan on the page. No cup size is given. The size field reads “10.5 x 15 x 2 in. 12-cup pan”, while the dimension fields give 15.04 by 10.57 by 1.45 inches, so plan for 2 inches of height if a shelf is close. The model field says 191011470 and the part number 191002982, two different codes for one pan.

Pros

  • “Made Without PFAS” in the title
  • 450°F, the top limit here
  • Extended handles
  • Scratch-resistant coating, stated
  • Best-ranked metal pan: #7 in category
  • Sold by Amazon.com

Cons

  • Pan metal never named
  • Coating type not named
  • Cup size not stated
  • Hand wash advised despite dishwasher claim
  • Warranty field holds no term
  • Conflicting height: 2 in or 1.45 in

Best for: A buyer who wants a coated metal pan with PFAS-free wording in the title and handles that clear oven mitts.

8. Nordic Ware Natural Aluminum Commercial Muffin Pan, 12-Cup — Best Warranty

Bare silver aluminium muffin pan with twelve round cups and a rolled rim

Bare aluminium, made in the USA, and the only warranty term on the page.

Key Specifications

Cups 12, standard
Cup size Not stated
Material Pure aluminium; encapsulated steel rim
Coating None mentioned; natural aluminium
PFAS wording Not stated; no coating described
Oven limit Not stated
Dishwasher Hand wash only, stated
Pan size 13.0 x 9.63 x 1.25 in
Pans in box 1
Warranty Lifetime, spec field
Made in USA, stated
Best Sellers Rank #4,350 overall; #25 in Muffin & Cupcake Pans

Why We Recommend It

This is the one listing on the page with a warranty term. The spec table’s warranty field reads “Lifetime”. Nine other listings either leave the field out, fill it with the word “Warranty”, or offer a satisfaction promise with no term. The listing does not spell out what the lifetime warranty covers, so ask before you rely on it, but it is the only commitment of its kind here.

The material sidesteps the coating question. “Natural aluminum commercial bakeware is made of pure aluminum which will never rust for a lifetime of durability.” No coating is mentioned, so there is nothing to ask about PFAS, PTFE or PFOA. The trade-off is release: bare aluminium needs greasing or paper liners, and the listing does not claim otherwise. “The reinforced encapsulated steel rim prevents warping”, the listing says, which puts steel only at the edge, where a pan flexes.

Aluminium is chosen for heat. “Baked goods rise and bake evenly due to aluminums superior heat conductivity.” Aluminium spreads heat faster than steel, which is why USA Pan blends it into its aluminized steel. A bare, light-coloured pan also browns more gently than a dark coated one, which suits muffins that bake for twenty minutes or more. The listing gives no oven limit, though bare aluminium has no coating to protect at baking temperatures.

Care is the strictest on the page. “Easy clean up, hand wash only.” Dishwasher detergent tends to dull and darken bare aluminium, so the instruction has a reason. If the dishwasher is non-negotiable, this is the wrong pan. No cup size is given beyond “The standard muffing pan has 12 cups”, typo included.

What to weigh. It is sold by Amazon.com and ranks #4,350 overall and #25 in Muffin & Cupcake Pans, last of the ten. It is “Proudly made in the USA by Nordic Ware”, and the spec table lists 1.3 pounds and a 13.0 by 9.63 inch outline. The model is 45500AMZ, with part number 45500AMZM. For a buyer who wants no coating and a warranty in writing, nothing else on the page offers both.

Pros

  • Lifetime warranty, the only stated term here
  • No coating to wear or question
  • Pure aluminium; steel rim against warping
  • Made in the USA, stated
  • Will never rust, stated
  • Sold by Amazon.com

Cons

  • Hand wash only
  • Oven limit not stated
  • Cup size not stated
  • Needs greasing or liners for release
  • One pan, 12 cups
  • #4,350 overall, last of the ten

Best for: A baker who wants an uncoated pan, a warranty term in writing and is happy to wash by hand.

9. Amazon Basics Nonstick Muffin Pan, Set of 2, 12 Cups, Gray — Best Budget Pair

Two gray nonstick steel muffin pans with twelve cups each, one resting on top of the other

Two steel pans for 24 cups, with the lowest oven limit on the page.

Key Specifications

Cups 12 per pan; 24 total
Cup size Not stated
Material Heavy-weight steel
Coating Nonstick; type not named
PFAS wording Not stated
Oven limit 428°F; never use under a grill (broiler)
Dishwasher Hand washing recommended
Pan size 13.9 x 10.55 x 1.22 in
Pans in box 2 (title); item-count field says 1
Warranty Not stated
Model 79024
Best Sellers Rank #1,278 overall; #8 in Muffin & Cupcake Pans

Why We Recommend It

This is two plain steel pans, and it says so. “Set of 2 muffin pans with 12 cups each (24 cups total); ideal for baking muffins, cupcakes, and more.” The item-count field in the spec table says 1, which is the kind of conflict worth noticing, but the title and first bullet both say two. Each pan is 13.9 by 10.55 by 1.22 inches, given in both the title and the bullets.

Its oven limit is the lowest on the page. “Nonstick coating helps ensure effortless food release; oven-safe to 428 degrees F.” 428°F is 220°C, and it is 22°F under the 450°F that four other listings give. For most muffins it will not matter. But some recipes start at 425°F to push the tops up, and that leaves three degrees of margin on a domestic oven whose dial may not be exact. The listing also says “Never use under a grill”, meaning the broiler: do not use it to brown tops under direct heat.

The steel is named; the coating is not. “Heavy-weight steel construction provides durability and fast, even heating for uniform browning.” The coating is just “nonstick”. There is no PFAS, PTFE or PFOA wording anywhere in the listing, so if that matters to you, this is a question for the seller, and Wilton or USA Pan answer it on the page.

Care is hand wash, recommended. “Hand washing recommended; fits Amazon Basics silicone baking cups (not included).” That second half is a useful detail: if you use liners, Amazon has matched them to this pan, which also saves the coating from scraping. No cup size is given, so the liner line is the closest the listing comes to telling you what the cups hold.

What to weigh. It is sold by Amazon.com and ranks #1,278 overall and #8 in Muffin & Cupcake Pans. The model is 79024. No warranty is stated. The spec table lists 1.85 pounds, which reads as one pan rather than two, matching the item-count field’s 1. As a budget pair of steel pans for 24 cups, it is straightforward; just keep it under 428°F and out from under the grill.

Pros

  • Two pans, 24 cups
  • Heavy-weight steel, stated
  • Pan size given in title and bullets
  • Matched silicone baking cups available
  • #8 in Muffin & Cupcake Pans
  • Sold by Amazon.com

Cons

  • 428°F, the lowest oven limit here
  • Coating type not named
  • No PFAS or PTFE wording
  • Hand wash recommended
  • Cup size not stated
  • Item-count field says 1

Best for: A budget buyer who wants two plain steel pans for 24 cups and bakes at standard temperatures.

10. Redfly 2-Pack Silicone Muffin Pans, 12-Cup Regular Size — Best Unframed Silicone

Two red silicone muffin pans with twelve round cups each, without any metal frame, on a flat baking tray

The one silicone pan with no frame, and the one listing that tells you to use a baking sheet.

Key Specifications

Cups 12 regular per pan; 24 in the set
Cup size 2.75 in cups, stated
Material Food-grade silicone; no frame
Coating None mentioned; oil spray recommended for release
PFAS wording Not stated; BPA free
Oven limit 446°F; range -104°F to 446°F (-40°C to 230°C)
Baking sheet Recommended underneath, stated
Dishwasher Not stated
Pan size 12.5 x 9.3 x 1.18 in (bullet)
Pans in box 2
Model Muffinpan12
Best Sellers Rank #1,720 overall; #12 in Muffin & Cupcake Pans

Why We Recommend It

This listing says what every unframed silicone pan needs. “Because silicone muffin pans for baking are very soft, it is recommended that a sturdy baking sheet or tray be placed underneath the cupcake pans 12 regular size to ensure stability during use.” That is honest, and it is the general rule: soft silicone full of batter bends when you lift it, and a sheet pan underneath is what gets it into the oven level. The other four silicone pans here add a metal frame to solve the same problem. Redfly leaves the frame out and tells you to supply the support.

It gives a cup size and an outline that fits a half sheet. “These silicone muffin pans for baking measure 12.5 x 9.3 x 1.18 in with 2.75 in cups — true regular size, not jumbo muffin pan.” 2.75 inches matches the rim figure USA Pan gives for its standard cup, and it is a far more convincing standard than Fimary’s 1.8 inches. At 12.5 by 9.3 inches, the pan sits comfortably on a standard half sheet pan, and our sheet pan guide covers which ones hold their size. The spec table’s dimension fields disagree, giving 1.1 by 9.6 by 1.2 inches, which cannot describe a 12-cup pan; trust the bullet.

Release needs a little help. “Tips: For better demoulding, it is recommended to spray a layer of oil first.” Most silicone listings here promise release without greasing; Redfly recommends oil. That is a more modest claim, and a useful one to know before your first batch.

Heat and other uses are covered; the dishwasher is not. “Cupcake pan temperature range suitable for use from -104℉ to 446℉ (-40℃ to 230℃).” The same range as Vinino and BRONYPRO. Without a metal frame, the microwave and freezer uses it names are straightforward. The listing never mentions the dishwasher, so wash by hand until the seller says otherwise. The weight field lists about 0.11 pounds for two pans, too light to take at face value, so we leave weight out.

What to weigh. It is sold by Ruizao EC and ranks #1,720 overall and #12 in Muffin & Cupcake Pans. The model is Muffinpan12, a code no other listing shares. No warranty is stated. Two pans, 24 cups and a stated 2.75 inch cup make it a sensible silicone pair, as long as you already own a sheet pan to carry them.

Pros

  • 2.75 in cups, stated
  • Pan size given: 12.5 x 9.3 x 1.18 in
  • Two pans, 24 cups
  • Honest about needing a baking sheet
  • No metal, so microwave use is plain
  • Freezer use stated

Cons

  • No frame; needs a sheet pan underneath
  • Oil spray recommended for release
  • Dishwasher not stated
  • Spec-table dimensions conflict with bullet
  • Weight field not credible
  • No PFAS wording; warranty not stated

Best for: A silicone buyer who already owns a sturdy sheet pan and wants a stated regular cup size.

Every Pan Counts Its Cups; Four Say How Big

A muffin pan sells by its cup count, and every listing here leads with it. What a cup holds is the figure that decides whether a recipe fits, and no listing gives it. Four give a dimension. The table below sets out every cup figure on the page, the pans and cups in each box, and, where the figures allow, a rough volume. The last column is our arithmetic, and it assumes we have read unlabelled figures correctly.

Pan Pans x cups Cups in box Cup size as stated Volume (ours, rough)
Bake Boss 1 x 12 + 1 x 24 mini 36 Not stated —
USA Pan 2 x 12 24 2.75 x 2.13 x 1.38 in About 3.6 fl oz if rim, base, depth
Redfly 2 x 12 24 2.75 in cups Depth not stated
Vinino 2 x 12 24 Not stated —
Amazon Basics 2 x 12 24 Not stated —
Fimary 1 x 12 12 About 1.8 in diameter, 1.45 in deep At most about 2 fl oz if 1.8 in is the rim
BRONYPRO 1 x 12 12 Not stated —
Wilton 1 x 12 12 Not stated —
Nordic Ware 1 x 12 12 Not stated —
GoodCook 1 x 6 jumbo 6 3.5 in; also “1.875 in diameters” Under about 9.6 fl oz if 3.5 in is the rim

Standard is a word, not a size. Three listings attach a figure to a standard or regular cup. USA Pan and Redfly agree on 2.75 inches. Fimary, the best seller, says 1.8 inches and calls it “Standard Cup Size”. If Fimary’s 1.8 inches is the rim, its cup holds roughly half what the USA Pan cup does, by our arithmetic; if it is the base, the two may be close. The listing does not say which, and that is the point: on the page, the best-selling pan’s standard and the best-documented pan’s standard are nearly an inch apart.

The USA Pan cup is the one you can calculate. Read as 2.75 inches across the rim, 2.13 inches across the base and 1.38 inches deep, it holds about 6.5 cubic inches, about 3.6 US fluid ounces, filled to the brim. Most recipes tell you to fill a cup two-thirds to three-quarters full, which is about 2.4 to 2.7 fluid ounces of batter, or about a third of a measuring cup, by our arithmetic. A portion scoop takes the guesswork out; our cookie scoop guide covers sizes, and our measuring cups roundup sorts out the fractions.

Counting pans matters as much as counting cups. Half the listings ship two pans. The cups in a box run from 6 on the GoodCook to 36 on the Bake Boss, and 186 across all ten, by our count. Two pans let you bake a 24-muffin recipe in one go, or rotate one pan in and one out; one pan means a second batch and a pan to cool and refill in between.

Paper cupcake liners in a muffin pan, each filled partway with pale batter
By our arithmetic, a 2.75 in standard cup holds about 3.6 fl oz brim-full; fill it two-thirds.

Five Silicone Pans, Four Frames and One Sheet Pan

Half the page is silicone, and the listings agree on the material and disagree on what holds it up. Unframed silicone is flexible enough to pop a muffin out with a push from below, and flexible enough to fold when you lift it full of batter. The general advice is to set an unframed silicone pan on a sheet pan before you fill it and leave it there through the bake. A metal frame is the alternative. Here is what each silicone listing says.

Pan Frame Frame metal Baking sheet Outline Oven limit Dishwasher
BRONYPRO Yes Carbon steel “Does not need” Not usable 446°F Yes
Bake Boss Yes, both pans Steel Not addressed 14.75 x 9.0 in 450°F Yes
Fimary Yes Not named Not addressed About 14.5 x 9 in 450°F Not stated
Vinino Yes Not named Not addressed 14.49 x 8.58 in 446°F Yes
Redfly No — Recommended underneath 12.5 x 9.3 in 446°F Not stated

Only one framed listing says you can skip the sheet pan. BRONYPRO says its pan “does not need a baking sheet for support”. Bake Boss says its steel frame keeps the pan’s shape “when filled” and makes it easy to move from counter to oven. Fimary and Vinino say the frame adds stability and keeps the shape under heat. None of the last three says a sheet is unnecessary. A frame that runs round the rim stiffens the pan; how much it stops the cups sagging depends on how the frame is built, which no listing describes. Until you have seen yours, filling it on a sheet pan costs nothing.

The framed pans look like one design. We compared every model number on the page and found no two the same: FM-muffin, 4126-cream-2, “Silicone Muffin Pan”, Muffinpan12 and, on BRONYPRO, none at all. But three framed outlines sit within a quarter-inch of each other: Fimary at about 14.5 by 9 inches, Vinino at 14.49 by 8.58, Bake Boss at 14.75 by 9.0. The temperature wording clusters too. Fimary and Bake Boss both give “450°F (232°C)”; Vinino, BRONYPRO and Redfly all give -104°F to 446°F, and Redfly adds the same -40°C to 230°C. We cannot tell from the listings whether these pans share a factory, a mould or only a spec sheet. We can say that the differences between them are mostly in the box: one pan or two, a brush, a mini pan, a colour.

A frame changes one use. Silicone on its own is generally microwave-friendly, and Redfly, with no frame, names the microwave. Vinino also names the microwave while describing a metal reinforced frame. Microwave makers generally warn against metal inside the oven, and the listing does not explain how its frame is enclosed. Treat framed pans as oven and freezer pans unless the seller says otherwise in writing.

Silicone release is promised, mostly. Fimary says no greasing or cooking spray is needed; BRONYPRO says you do not even need to spray; Bake Boss says no paper liners or greasy sprays. Redfly recommends a layer of oil for better demoulding. Silicone browns less than dark metal, so a silicone muffin often comes out paler at the sides; that is the general trade for push-out release.

Coatings and PFAS, in Each Listing’s Own Words

The question most buyers bring to a nonstick muffin pan is what the coating is made of. Five pans here are coated metal or bare metal, and five are silicone with no coating described. The wording varies more than the materials do.

Pan Material Coating as described PFAS, PTFE, PFOA wording
Wilton Not named Easy-release, scratch-resistant “Made Without PFAS”
BRONYPRO Silicone, carbon steel frame “No chemical coating” Free from BPA, PTFE, PFOA and PFAS
USA Pan Aluminized steel Americoat silicone coating Made without PTFE, PFOA and BPA
Nordic Ware Pure aluminium None mentioned None; no coating described
Amazon Basics Heavy-weight steel Nonstick, unnamed None
GoodCook Heavy-gauge steel Scratch-resistant nonstick, unnamed None
Fimary Silicone, metal frame None mentioned None; BPA free
Bake Boss Silicone, steel frames “Naturally nonstick silicone” None; BPA free
Vinino Silicone, metal frame None mentioned None; BPA free
Redfly Silicone, no frame None mentioned None; BPA free

Two listings say PFAS; one more names PTFE and PFOA. Wilton and BRONYPRO use the broad word. USA Pan names a coating, Americoat, says it is silicone-based and excludes PTFE and PFOA, the two compounds most nonstick questions are really about. That is a narrower claim than PFAS but a more specific one about the coating itself, which Wilton never names.

Two coated pans say nothing. Amazon Basics and GoodCook both describe a nonstick coating and give no chemistry at all. That does not tell you what is in them; it tells you the listing does not say, and the seller is the place to ask.

Silicone and bare aluminium mostly sidestep the question. A silicone cup does not need a coating to release, and four of the five silicone listings mention only BPA. Nordic Ware’s bare aluminium has no coating at all, which removes the question and adds a different one: bare metal needs grease or liners.

Yellow silicone baking cups beside a whisk on a dark counter
Unframed silicone needs a sheet pan underneath; only one framed listing says it can do without.

Oven Limits, Dishwashers and the One Warranty

The last three counts are the ones you find out about the hard way: how hot the pan can go, whether it survives the dishwasher, and what happens if it does not. Here they are side by side.

Pan Oven limit Dishwasher wording Warranty Pans
USA Pan 450°F Not stated; hand-wash instructions Not stated 2
Wilton 450°F Safe; hand wash advised Field holds no term 1
Fimary 450°F Not stated Not stated 1
Bake Boss 450°F Safe Not stated 2
BRONYPRO 446°F Safe Not stated 1
Vinino 446°F Safe Not stated 2
Redfly 446°F Not stated Not stated 2
Amazon Basics 428°F Hand washing recommended Not stated 2
GoodCook Not stated Safe Satisfaction promise, no term 1
Nordic Ware Not stated Hand wash only Lifetime 1

No pan clears 450°F, and few recipes need it to. Four listings give 450°F, three give 446°F, Amazon Basics gives 428°F, and GoodCook and Nordic Ware give nothing. Most muffin recipes bake at 350 to 425°F. The only real pinch point is Amazon Basics: a recipe that starts at 425°F leaves three degrees of headroom, and the listing separately warns never to use it under a grill. The two silences are on a jumbo pan, which often starts hot, and on bare aluminium, which has no coating to protect.

Five say dishwasher safe, and one of those would rather you did not. Bake Boss, BRONYPRO, Vinino and GoodCook say dishwasher safe without qualification. Wilton says dishwasher safe, then recommends warm soapy water before first use and after every use. Nordic Ware says hand wash only, Amazon Basics recommends hand washing, and USA Pan gives hand-wash instructions without a dishwasher line. Fimary and Redfly never mention it.

One warranty term in ten. Nordic Ware’s spec table says Lifetime. Wilton’s warranty field contains only the word Warranty. GoodCook’s says “Satisfaction guaranteed please contact BradshawHome with any concerns”. The other seven have no warranty field at all. For a pan you may use weekly for years, that is a thin set of commitments, and it makes the Nordic Ware’s single word worth more than it looks.

Popularity Runs Opposite to Paperwork

Star ratings were not captured for this roundup, so the only popularity measure is Amazon’s Best Sellers Rank, as returned on 5 October 2026. All ten rank in Muffin & Cupcake Pans, so the category ranks are comparable here, though they move daily.

Pan Overall rank Category rank Cup size stated Warranty
Fimary #70 #1 1.8 in across Not stated
Vinino #581 #4 Not stated Not stated
Bake Boss #689 #5 Not stated Not stated
Wilton #928 #7 Not stated No term
Amazon Basics #1,278 #8 Not stated Not stated
GoodCook #1,282 #9 3.5 in; 1.875 in No term
USA Pan #1,375 #13 2.75 x 2.13 x 1.38 in Not stated
Redfly #1,720 #12 2.75 in Not stated
BRONYPRO #3,285 #18 Not stated Not stated
Nordic Ware #4,350 #25 Not stated Lifetime

The three best sellers are framed silicone. Fimary, Vinino and Bake Boss hold the top three ranks, and the three share an outline to within a quarter-inch. The best-documented cup on the page, USA Pan’s, sits seventh overall, and the only warranty term sits last. Redfly is #12 in the category while ranking below USA Pan overall, a reminder that the two ranks are measured at slightly different moments and should be read as an order, not a score.

Best Alternatives

Alternative Why Consider It Better For Main Trade-Off

A square cake pan; see our cake pan roundup Muffin batter bakes as a single cake Snack cakes and crumb-topped bakes No domed tops or crisp muffin edges
Paper liners in a pan you own Fixes release on bare or worn pans Bare aluminium and older coated pans Liners stick to some batters; ongoing purchase

What Each Step Up Actually Buys

Unframed silicone — Redfly. Two pans, 24 cups and a stated 2.75 inch cup, at the cost of supplying your own support. A sheet pan underneath is required, and the listing says so. You get push-out release and plain microwave and freezer use, and nothing metal to scratch.

Framed silicone — Fimary, Vinino, Bake Boss, BRONYPRO. The frame buys handling: you can lift the pan by its edge. On these four listings, only BRONYPRO says the frame replaces a baking sheet. The step within the group buys different things: the best rank on Fimary, two pans on Vinino, 36 cups and a mini pan on Bake Boss, PFAS wording and a brush on BRONYPRO. The cups themselves are mostly unmeasured.

Coated steel — Amazon Basics, GoodCook, Wilton. Rigid metal and better browning than silicone. Amazon Basics buys two pans and a 428°F limit; GoodCook buys the only jumbo cups; Wilton buys PFAS-free wording in the title, a 450°F limit and extended handles, without telling you its metal. None of the three gives a cup size.

Aluminized steel and bare aluminium — USA Pan, Nordic Ware. The top of the page on construction. USA Pan buys the only full cup measurement, a named coating free of PTFE and PFOA, 450°F and two heavy pans. Nordic Ware buys no coating, US manufacture and the only warranty term, at the cost of hand washing and greasing. Between them, they answer more of the seven counts than any other two listings.

Blueberry muffins with domed tops cooling on a wire rack in daylight
Oven limits here run from 428 to 450°F; most muffin recipes bake at 350 to 425°F.

What to Check Before You Buy

Ask What a Cup Holds

No listing here gives cup volume. If a recipe matters, ask the seller for it, or for rim diameter, base diameter and depth, which let you work it out. The USA Pan cup comes to about 3.6 fluid ounces brim-full by our arithmetic; a cup much smaller than that will overflow a standard recipe’s twelve portions.

Read a Single Diameter With Suspicion

A single cup figure does not say whether it is the rim or the base. Fimary’s 1.8 inches and GoodCook’s 1.875 inches could be either. Rim figures on this page for regular cups are 2.75 inches; anything well under that is probably a base measurement, or a smaller cup than the word standard suggests.

Decide Frame or Sheet Pan

Unframed silicone needs a sheet pan underneath, filled and baked in place. Framed silicone can usually be lifted by the edge, but only BRONYPRO says outright that it needs no baking sheet. If you plan to skip the sheet, buy a listing that says you can, and let the pan cool before you turn the muffins out onto a rack; our cooling rack roundup covers the options.

Match the Coating Claim to Your Question

Wilton and BRONYPRO say PFAS-free. USA Pan says made without PTFE and PFOA. Amazon Basics and GoodCook say nonstick and nothing more. If the chemistry matters to you, buy a listing whose wording answers your exact question, rather than assuming a narrower claim covers a broader one.

Check the Oven Limit Against Your Hottest Recipe

Limits here run from 428 to 450°F, with two listings silent. Most muffins bake at 350 to 425°F, so the limits matter only at the top. Amazon Basics leaves three degrees over a 425°F start, and none of these pans should go under a grill or broiler unless the listing says so.

Count Pans, Not Just Cups

Five listings ship two pans and five ship one. A 24-muffin recipe in one pan means two bakes and a cooling gap in between. Check the title and the item-count field together; on Amazon Basics they disagree, two and one.

Confirm Care and Warranty in Writing

Five listings say dishwasher safe, Wilton with a hand-wash preference; three say hand wash; two say nothing. Only Nordic Ware states a warranty term. If either matters, take the listing’s wording, not the category’s reputation, as the answer.

Common Mistakes

  • Trusting the word standard. Fimary’s standard cup is 1.8 inches across; USA Pan’s and Redfly’s are 2.75 inches.
  • Assuming any listing gives a cup volume. None of the ten does; USA Pan’s dimensions are the only ones that let you estimate it, at about 3.6 fl oz by our arithmetic.
  • Lifting unframed silicone full of batter. Redfly itself says to put a baking sheet underneath; fill it on the sheet and bake it there.
  • Assuming every frame replaces a sheet pan. Four silicone pans have frames; only BRONYPRO says no baking sheet is needed.
  • Putting a framed pan in the microwave on a listing’s say-so. Vinino names the microwave while describing a metal frame; ask the seller first.
  • Reading nonstick as PFAS-free. Two coated pans, Amazon Basics and GoodCook, say nonstick and give no chemistry at all.
  • Baking at 450°F in a 428°F pan. Amazon Basics stops at 428°F, the lowest limit here, and must never go under a grill.
  • Expecting a warranty. One listing in ten, Nordic Ware, states a term: Lifetime.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best muffin pan?

For most bakers, the USA Pan Bakeware Muffin Pan, 12-Well, Set of 2. It is the only one of the ten listings here that measures its cups in three dimensions, 2.75 by 2.13 by 1.38 inches, which works out at about 3.6 US fluid ounces brim-full by our arithmetic, a typical standard cup. The pans are heavy-gauge aluminized steel, oven safe to 450°F, the highest limit on the page, and the Americoat coating is described as made without PTFE, PFOA and BPA. You get two pans and 24 cups, sold by Amazon.com. The trade-offs are hand washing, since the listing gives no dishwasher claim, and no stated warranty. If you want silicone instead, the BRONYPRO framed pan is the one that says it needs no baking sheet. If you want a warranty and no coating at all, the Nordic Ware aluminium pan states Lifetime.

What is the best silicone muffin pan?

The BRONYPRO Silicone Muffin Pan with Metal Frame, on the listings alone. Five of the ten pans here are silicone, and four set the cups in a metal frame. BRONYPRO is the only one that says outright its frame means the pan does not need a baking sheet for support, and it names the metal, carbon steel. It is also the only silicone listing to say its cups are free from PFAS, as well as BPA, PTFE and PFOA. It is dishwasher safe, rated -104°F to 446°F, and comes with a cleaning brush. It is one pan, and the listing gives no cup size or usable pan outline. If you want more cups, the Bake Boss set gives 36 across a regular and a mini pan, and the Vinino gives two framed 12-cup pans. The Fimary is the best seller, but its stated cup is only 1.8 inches across.

What is the best cupcake pan?

A cupcake pan and a muffin pan are the same thing on these listings; every one of the ten is sold for both. For cupcakes, liners and a consistent cup size matter most, since cupcakes are usually iced and served side by side. The USA Pan set gives the only full cup measurement, so you know each cupcake will come out the same, and two pans let you bake 24 at once. If you bake mini cupcakes for parties, the Bake Boss set adds a 24-cup mini pan to a regular 12-cup pan, both framed silicone and dishwasher safe. If you use paper liners in a coated metal pan, the Amazon Basics pair notes that it fits Amazon Basics silicone baking cups, and the Wilton offers PFAS-free wording in its title. Fill each cup about two-thirds full for a flat top that takes icing well.

What is the best jumbo muffin pan?

The GoodCook Everyday Nonstick Steel Jumbo Texas Muffin Pan is the only jumbo pan among these ten, so on this page it is the answer by default, and it is a reasonable one. It has six cups that the listing describes as 3.5 inch gourmet-sized cups, in heavy-gauge steel that the listing says resists warping, with a scratch-resistant nonstick coating that is dishwasher safe. It is sold by Amazon.com and ranks #9 in Muffin & Cupcake Pans. Three things are missing: an oven temperature limit, the type of coating, and a clear cup measurement, since the same bullet also mentions 1.875 inch diameters without saying what that refers to. Jumbo cups hold roughly two to three times a regular cup, so a 12-muffin recipe fills about four to six of them and needs a longer bake. Check doneness with a skewer in the centre.

Do silicone muffin pans need a baking sheet underneath?

Unframed ones do, as a general rule. Silicone is flexible, and a pan of twelve cups full of batter will bend when you lift it, which spills batter and can leave muffins lopsided. Redfly, the only unframed silicone pan here, says so itself and recommends a sturdy baking sheet or tray underneath. Fill the pan on the sheet and bake it there. Framed silicone pans add a metal rim to stiffen them. Four listings here describe a frame, but only BRONYPRO says plainly that its pan does not need a baking sheet for support. Fimary, Vinino and Bake Boss describe their frames as adding stability or keeping the shape when filled, without saying the sheet can go. Until you know how stiff your frame is, setting it on a sheet pan costs nothing and avoids a spill on the oven floor.

How much batter does a standard muffin cup hold?

None of these ten listings says, which is the main finding of this guide. The one listing that gives enough to estimate it is USA Pan, at 2.75 by 2.13 by 1.38 inches per cup. Read as rim diameter, base diameter and depth, that cup holds about 3.6 US fluid ounces filled to the brim, by our arithmetic, roughly 106 millilitres. Most recipes fill cups two-thirds to three-quarters full, so about 2.4 to 2.7 fluid ounces of batter, about a third of a measuring cup. Fimary calls its cup standard at about 1.8 inches across, and if that is the rim, it holds closer to 2 fluid ounces at most. Redfly gives 2.75 inches across with no depth. If a pan does not state its cup size, measure one cup with water before your first bake and portion accordingly.

Are nonstick muffin pans PFAS-free?

Some say so, some do not say. On this page, two listings use the word PFAS: the Wilton Gold pan, which puts Made Without PFAS in its title, and the BRONYPRO silicone pan, which says its cups are free from BPA, PTFE, PFOA and PFAS. USA Pan says its Americoat silicone coating is made without PTFE, PFOA and BPA, a specific claim about the two compounds most nonstick questions concern, though it does not use the word PFAS. Amazon Basics and GoodCook both describe a nonstick coating and give no chemistry at all, so the listings simply do not answer the question. The four other silicone pans mention only BPA, and plain silicone does not need a coating to release. Nordic Ware’s bare aluminium has no coating described. If this matters to you, choose a listing whose wording answers your exact question.

Can muffin pans go in the dishwasher?

It depends on the pan, and the listings here give five different answers. Bake Boss, BRONYPRO, Vinino and GoodCook say dishwasher safe without qualification. Wilton says dishwasher safe, then recommends washing in warm, soapy water before first use and after every use for best results. Nordic Ware says hand wash only, which makes sense for bare aluminium, since dishwasher detergent tends to dull and darken it. Amazon Basics recommends hand washing. USA Pan gives hand-wash instructions, hot water, mild soap and a gentle brush, without a dishwasher line either way. Fimary and Redfly never mention the dishwasher. As a general rule, coated metal pans keep their release longer when washed by hand, and silicone tolerates the dishwasher well. If dishwasher use is essential, buy one of the four listings that state it plainly.

Final Verdict

Best OverallUSA Pan Muffin Pan, 12-Well, Set of 2

The only full cup measurement here, 2.75 x 2.13 x 1.38 in, in two aluminized steel pans rated to 450°F.

Best SiliconeBRONYPRO Silicone Muffin Pan with Metal Frame

A carbon steel frame stated to need no baking sheet, and the only silicone listing to say PFAS-free.

Best JumboGoodCook Jumbo Texas Muffin Pan, 6-Cup

The only jumbo pan here: six 3.5 in cups in heavy-gauge steel, dishwasher safe, sold by Amazon.com.

Ten muffin pans count their cups, and not one says what a cup holds. Four give a dimension. USA Pan and Redfly put a standard cup at 2.75 inches across; Fimary, the best seller on Amazon, puts its standard cup at 1.8 inches. GoodCook, the only jumbo pan, gives two figures for one cup. The other six give a count and stop.

The other counts are just as patchy. Four of five silicone pans have a metal frame, and one of the four says the frame replaces a baking sheet. Two listings say PFAS, one names PTFE and PFOA, and two coated pans say nothing. Oven limits run from 428°F to 450°F with two silent. Five say dishwasher safe. One states a warranty.

So buy a muffin pan by what its listing commits to. Look for a cup size you can turn into a volume, a frame that the listing says needs no sheet if you want silicone, coating wording that answers your exact question, and an oven limit above your hottest recipe. Where a listing is silent, ask, or measure a cup with water before your first batch.

If you buy one muffin pan from this page, make it the USA Pan 12-Well Set of 2: the only cup measured in three dimensions, two heavy aluminized steel pans, a named coating made without PTFE and PFOA, and 450°F. For silicone that stands on its own, the BRONYPRO; for jumbo muffins, the GoodCook.
