Whatever the Label, Two Best Sheet Pans Stick to 18 by 13

A half sheet pan is a trade convention: about 18 by 13 inches, the pan most home recipes mean by “a rimmed baking sheet”. It gives us something to measure listings against. Five of the ten listings here sell themselves as half sheets, and three of the five soften further down. USA Pan gives its outer size as 17.75 by 12.75 inches, Yuiicaov’s bullet says “both 17.5 x 13 x 1 inch”, and HONGBAKE’s “half” is 17.5 by 12.

Two listings hold to 18 by 13 in every field. Winco and Saffron & Sage give it in both the title and the spec table, and Saffron & Sage repeats it in a bullet. And they rank last, #42 and #39 in Baking & Cookie Sheets. The #1 pan there is a GoodCook three-pack whose largest pan is 17 by 11 inches.

This guide sorts the ten by rank and reads each against the size it states, then by material and what it promises about warping, heat and cleaning. Star ratings and review counts were not captured for this roundup; popularity below is Amazon’s Best Sellers Rank only.

Best Sellers Ranks and specifications are taken from each manufacturer’s Amazon listing as displayed on 5 October 2026 through a United States connection, and may change. Sizes are as each listing states them, with conflicting fields shown side by side. The trade half sheet of about 18 by 13 inches and quarter sheet of about 13 by 9 are general kitchen conventions, not figures from these listings. GoodCook’s title says its medium pan is “15×1”; its bullet says 15 by 10, which we use. Baker’s Signature gives each pan as a single figure, 9, 12 and 16 inches, and its spec table gives 16 by 12 by 1 inches for the set. KitchenAid’s spec table gives 10.71 by 10.71 inches against a 9 by 13 title. GoodCook’s weight field, 0.55 lb for a three-pan set, cannot describe the product and is left out. Ranks are as returned on 5 October 2026; all ten sit in Baking & Cookie Sheets, so category ranks are comparable here. Five were sold by Amazon.com at capture; the Rottay, HONGBAKE, Baker’s Signature, Yuiicaov and Saffron & Sage were sold by their brands or a brand seller. Star ratings and review counts were not captured for any product here.

How We Chose These Ten

We researched current listings, compared manufacturer specifications and documentation, and read each listing’s size, material, coating and care claims line by line. We did not carry out hands-on testing, and nothing below is presented as measured performance data. Star ratings and review counts were not captured for this roundup. We used Amazon Best Sellers Rank, buy-box stock and listing specifications instead, and nothing on this page describes or implies how owners have scored these pans.

  • Flat, rimmed baking sheets only — every product here is a rimmed sheet pan or a set of them, sold for cookies, roasting and sheet-pan dinners. Deep roasting pans, cake tins and rimless cookie sheets were not in the running.
  • One pack per pan — where one brand sold what looked like the same pan in several pack sizes, we kept one listing and gave the other places to different pans, so that ten listings mean ten different products.
  • Sizes recorded field by field — we took each pan’s size from the title, the bullets and the spec table separately, and where they disagree we print both. The trade sizes we compare against, about 18 by 13 inches for a half sheet and about 13 by 9 for a quarter sheet, are general kitchen conventions, not listing claims.
  • Materials and coatings as stated — carbon steel, aluminised steel, aluminium or stainless steel, coated or bare, exactly as the listing describes it. Where a bare pan calls itself nonstick because of a polished finish, we say so.
  • Rim and warp claims kept apart — a listing that describes a reinforced, rolled, wired or encapsulated rim is recorded separately from one that simply says the pan resists warping. A listing that says neither is marked not stated.
  • Heat and care as stated — an oven ceiling only where a number is printed, and dishwasher use only where the listing says it, including any advice to hand wash anyway.
  • Implausible fields left out — GoodCook’s weight field cannot describe a three-pan set, so we do not print it. Areas and per-pan figures on this page are our arithmetic and are labelled as such.
  • Popularity from Best Sellers Rank only — ranks are quoted exactly as returned on 5 October 2026. All ten sit in Baking & Cookie Sheets, which makes the category ranks a fair comparison.
  • Verified stock and seller — each product was the buy-box offer and in stock on amazon.com on 5 October 2026.

Seller Amazon.com
Best Sellers Rank #72 overall; #1 in Baking & Cookie Sheets

Why We Recommend It

This is what most shoppers buy, and it is not a half sheet. Amazon ranks it #72 overall and #1 in Baking & Cookie Sheets, the best figures on the page by a distance. The first bullet sets out the sizes plainly: “a small 13” x 9”, medium 15” x 10” and large 17” x 11” baking sheet”. The largest of the three covers 187 square inches by our arithmetic, against about 234 for a nominal 18 by 13 half sheet. That is roughly 80% of the size most recipes have in mind when they say “a sheet pan”, and about two inches narrower.

That gap matters more for some jobs than others. A recipe written for a half sheet spreads vegetables, potatoes or chicken thighs in a single layer with room between them, which is what lets them brown instead of steam. Put the same amount on a pan a fifth smaller and the pieces crowd. For cookies, it means fewer per batch. For a sheet cake or a jelly roll, it means a thicker bake and a different time. None of that makes the set a poor buy. It means the large pan is a large cookie sheet, not a half sheet, and you scale accordingly.

The small pan is the quarter-sheet size. At 13 by 9 inches it matches the trade quarter sheet, which GoodCook also sells three to a box and on its own under other model numbers. We kept this set, model 04550, as the one GoodCook listing on the page, because it is the only one that includes a larger pan. The medium pan, 15 by 10, is the traditional jelly-roll size. HONGBAKE sells the same three-step idea with a slightly bigger top pan, 17.5 by 12 inches.

The coating and care claims are specific; the heat claim is missing. GoodCook calls the coating “a GoodCook exclusive formula that performs better than other single-coat systems”, and the carbon steel “resist[s] warping and scratching”. It says the pans are “dishwasher safe for easy cleanup after use, however, hand washing is recommended for longer-lasting use”, which is an honest way of saying the dishwasher shortens a coating’s life. What the listing does not give is an oven ceiling. Nonstick coatings have one, and on this page only HONGBAKE prints a figure for its coating. For roasting at the top of a domestic oven’s range, that silence is worth a question to the seller.

The rim is not described. The warp claim rests on the steel, not on a rolled, wired or reinforced edge, and the listing does not say how deep the pans are. The weight field gives 0.55 pounds for the set, which cannot describe three carbon steel sheets, so we leave it out. The warranty is stated as Limited Lifetime, and it is sold by Amazon.com.

What to weigh. Three sizes, a coating with care advice in writing, a lifetime warranty and the best rank in the category. Against that, no half-sheet pan, no oven ceiling and no rim detail. If you already own a half sheet and want smaller pans around it, this is the obvious set. If this will be your only sheet pan, the 17 by 11 inch top size is the number to think about.

Pros

  • #1 in Baking & Cookie Sheets, #72 overall
  • Three sizes: 13×9, 15×10, 17×11 in
  • Nonstick coating described as scratch-resistant
  • Dishwasher safe stated
  • Limited Lifetime warranty
  • Sold by Amazon.com

Cons

  • Largest pan is about 80% of a half sheet by our arithmetic
  • No oven ceiling stated
  • Rim and depth not described
  • Hand washing recommended despite dishwasher claim
  • Title gives the medium pan as “15×1”
  • Weight field not usable

Best for: A buyer who wants three coated pans in graduated sizes and does not need a full half sheet.

2. Rottay Baking Sheet with Cooling Wire Rack Set, Stainless Steel, 2 Pans + 2 Racks — Best With Racks

Two shiny stainless steel baking sheets with wire cooling racks set inside them

The only listing here that puts racks in the box, and it pairs them with bare stainless pans.

Key Specifications

Pans in the set 2, plus 2 cooling racks
Pan size 16 x 12 x 1 in
Rack size 15.35 x 11 x 0.65 in, six raised feet
Material Stainless steel, no chemical coating
Surface Corrugated base, mirror-polished finish
Rim and warping Reinforced rolled edge to help prevent twisting and warping
Oven-safe temperature Not stated; racks described as oven safe
Dishwasher Not stated
Listed weight 5.06 lb for four pieces
Seller Rottay
Best Sellers Rank #1,050 overall; #9 in Baking & Cookie Sheets

Why We Recommend It

Racks are the point of this set, and nobody else includes them. The listing counts “4 Pieces Bakeware Set – Including 2 cookie sheets 16 x 12 x 1 inch and 2 cooling racks 15.35 x 11 x 0.65 inch”. The racks have “6 raised feet” and “dense parallel lines to keep food from falling through”, and each “perfectly fits in the baking pan”. A rack that sits inside a sheet pan lifts bacon, wings or breaded food off its own fat so air reaches the underside. It is the most useful accessory a sheet pan can have, and on this page it comes with one listing.

The pans are 16 by 12 inches, between the trade sizes. That is 192 square inches by our arithmetic, about 82% of a nominal half sheet. The listing says they fit “most regular oven, toaster oven and some air fryer”. A 16-inch pan will go in a standard oven easily. Whether it goes in your toaster oven depends on the interior, and toaster ovens that take a 16-inch tray are on the larger side, so measure before you count on it.

It is one of six listings that describe a rim. “Thick gauge baking tray with sturdy construction, the reinforced rolled edge provides extra strength to help prevent twisting and warping.” It adds that the “corrugated surface in the bottom of sheet pan” also “strengthen[s] the structure to the pan for warp resistance”. A rolled edge and a ribbed base are both real ways to stiffen thin sheet metal. No gauge or thickness is given, so “thick gauge” is a word, not a measurement.

Bare stainless trades release for durability. The listing says “without any chemical coating” and claims the corrugation helps “reduce the risk of food sticking”. Stainless steel does not need a coating to survive high heat or metal tools, which is its strength. It also conducts heat less readily than aluminium, and it releases food less easily than a fresh nonstick coating, which is why many cooks line stainless pans with parchment for cookies.

Two important things are not stated. There is no oven-safe figure for the pans, though the racks are described as oven safe, and there is no dishwasher claim at all. Stainless steel generally tolerates both, but the listing does not commit to either. The listed weight, 5.06 pounds, covers all four pieces.

What to weigh. #1,050 overall and #9 in the category, sold by Rottay. If you roast bacon, wings or anything breaded, or cool cookies on the pan they baked on, the racks alone make the case. If you want a full half sheet or written care instructions, look elsewhere.

Pros

  • Only set with racks: two, sized to fit the pans
  • Reinforced rolled edge described
  • Corrugated base for stiffness and release
  • Uncoated stainless steel
  • Two pans at 16 x 12 x 1 in
  • Racks have six raised feet

Cons

  • About 82% of a half sheet by our arithmetic
  • No oven ceiling stated for the pans
  • No dishwasher claim
  • No gauge or thickness given
  • Bare stainless releases less easily than nonstick
  • Toaster-oven fit is a claim to check

Best for: Cooks who roast bacon, wings or breaded food on a rack and want it in the box.

3. Nordic Ware Extra Large Baking Sheet, 21 x 15 Inches, Natural Uncoated Aluminum (44600AMZ) — Biggest Sheet

A large bare aluminium baking sheet with a rolled rim on a light kitchen counter

Bare aluminium with an encapsulated steel rim, and bigger than a half sheet by about a third.

Key Specifications

Pans 1
Size 21 x 15 x 1 in; baking surface 20.3 x 14.3 in
Material Pure aluminium, uncoated
Surface Bare; parchment or silicone mats compatible
Rim and warping Encapsulated galvanised steel rim, stated to prevent warping
Oven-safe temperature Not stated
Dishwasher Not stated; hand wash recommended
Listed weight 2.05 lb
Made in America, of domestic and imported materials
Warranty Lifetime limited
Seller Amazon.com
Best Sellers Rank #1,187 overall; #10 in Baking & Cookie Sheets

Why We Recommend It

This is one of three bare aluminium pans here, and the only one larger than a half sheet. The title says “21 x 15 inches, XL Big sheet pan Natural Uncoated Aluminum”, and the fourth bullet gives the baking surface as “20.3 x 14.3 inches”. That surface is about 290 square inches by our arithmetic, roughly a quarter more than the whole outline of a nominal half sheet. If your problem is that a half sheet is not big enough for a family tray of vegetables, this is the pan on the page that answers it.

Check your oven first. Nordic Ware sells it as holding “more food than a standard sheet”, but does not say what oven it needs. A 21-inch pan needs a shelf at least that wide with room left for air to move around it, and its 15-inch depth must clear the door. Many full-size home ovens will take it; many compact, apartment and wall ovens will not, and nearly no toaster oven will. Measure the inside of the oven, not the outside of the range.

The rim is the most specific anti-warp design on the page. Two bullets describe it: “Reinforced encapsulated steel rim prevents warping and adds strength” and “Encapsulated galvanized steel rims stand strong against warping”. Aluminium is soft, and a large, thin aluminium sheet heated unevenly can twist with a bang in the oven. Rolling the edge over a steel wire is the classic commercial fix. Of the six listings here that describe their rim, this and the Winco are the two that say a galvanised steel core sits inside it.

Bare aluminium is the baker’s material, with a care cost. The listing credits “aluminum’s superior heat conductivity” for even browning, and aluminium does spread heat faster than steel. It has no coating to wear out and no ceiling of the kind a coating sets, though the listing does not print an oven figure. The trade-off is that bare aluminium sticks without parchment or a mat, which the listing acknowledges, and it can discolour in a dishwasher. It says “hand wash recommended” and makes no dishwasher claim.

The paperwork is strong. “Made in America of domestic and imported materials”, a lifetime limited warranty, and sold by Amazon.com. The listed weight is 2.05 pounds for one pan; no gauge or thickness is given.

What to weigh. #1,187 overall and #10 in the category. If your oven takes it and you want one large, uncoated, warp-resistant pan with a warranty, this is the strongest case on the page. If your oven is small, or you want a pan that matches half-sheet recipes, racks and mats, a true half sheet is the safer choice.

Pros

  • Largest pan here: 20.3 x 14.3 in baking surface
  • Encapsulated galvanised steel rim stated
  • Bare aluminium, no coating to wear
  • Made in America of domestic and imported materials
  • Lifetime limited warranty
  • Sold by Amazon.com

Cons

  • Larger than a half sheet; oven fit must be checked
  • No oven ceiling stated
  • Hand wash recommended; no dishwasher claim
  • Bare aluminium needs parchment or a mat
  • Half-sheet racks and mats will not fill it
  • One pan only

Best for: Families with a full-size oven who want one large, uncoated, warp-resistant pan.

4. KitchenAid 9x13in Nonstick Aluminized Steel Baking Sheet, Contour Silver (KQ952OSNSA) — Best Handles

A small silver nonstick baking sheet with wide extended handles at each end

A quarter-sheet-sized pan whose selling point is its handles, with dimensions that disagree.

Key Specifications

Pans 1
Size 9 x 13 in (title); spec table 10.71 x 10.71 x 2.01 in
Material Aluminised steel
Surface “Swiss-engineered heavy-duty” nonstick coating
Rim and warping Not stated; extended handles described
Oven-safe temperature Not stated
Dishwasher Dishwasher safe, stated
Rack included No
Model KQ952OSNSA
Seller Amazon.com
Best Sellers Rank #1,232 overall; #11 in Baking & Cookie Sheets

Why We Recommend It

KitchenAid sells this on handles, not size. The third bullet reads: “EXTENDED HANDLES: provide a secure grip for easy transport, making transferring pan in and out of the oven safer and simpler, even when wearing pot holders”. On a hot sheet pan, the rim is the only thing to hold, and a thick oven glove does not fit well under a one-inch lip. Wider handles solve that. No other listing here makes handles a feature.

The size is a quarter sheet, and the listing disagrees with itself. The title says “9x13in” and the Size field says “9 x 13 Inch”. The spec table gives length and width as 10.71 by 10.71 inches and height as 2.01 inches, which cannot be a 9 by 13 rectangle. It may be packaging, or a data error. We report both. It is not clear from the listing whether 9 by 13 is the baking surface or the outline including the handles, and on a pan with extended handles that difference matters for oven fit.

Aluminised steel is the commercial middle ground. The listing says “Aluminized steel construction promotes consistent heat distribution across the pan”. Aluminised steel is steel with an aluminium-silicon coating that resists rust, and it is stiffer than plain aluminium. Over it sits a “Swiss-engineered heavy-duty coating” for release. KitchenAid does not name the coating or state an oven ceiling for it.

The care claim is simple. “DISHWASHER SAFE: for easy cleanup.” Unlike the GoodCook, it does not add a hand-washing recommendation. The listing says nothing about warping or the rim, and gives no thickness or weight. The manufacturer field names Lifetime Brands Inc.

What to weigh. #1,232 overall and #11 in the category, sold by Amazon.com. If you want a small pan that is easier to grip with gloves, this is the one. If you want a half sheet, it is roughly half the size, and its dimensions need confirming before you buy.

Pros

  • Extended handles for gloved hands
  • Aluminised steel construction
  • Dishwasher safe, with no hand-wash caveat
  • Named coating source, “Swiss-engineered”
  • Sold by Amazon.com

Cons

  • Quarter-sheet size only
  • Spec table dimensions conflict with 9 x 13 in title
  • No oven ceiling stated
  • No rim or warp claim
  • No warranty stated
  • Unclear whether 9 x 13 in includes the handles

Best for: A cook who wants a small coated pan that is easy to grip with oven gloves.

5. HONGBAKE Baking Sheet Pan Set of 3, Nonstick Half/Quarter/Jelly Roll Pans, 0.8mm, Champagne Gold — Best Stated Thickness

Three gold-coloured baking sheets with a diamond-textured base, stacked in graduated sizes

The only listing that states a thickness, and the only coated pan with an oven ceiling; its “half” is 17.5 by 12.

Key Specifications

Pans in the set 3
Sizes 13 x 9, 15 x 10 and 17.5 x 12 in
Labelled as Quarter, jelly roll and half
Material Carbon steel, 0.8mm; “57% thicker”
Surface Two-layer Whitford-reinforced nonstick; diamond texture
Rim and warping Not stated
Oven-safe temperature 450°F
Dishwasher Not stated
Listed weight 4.23 lb for three pans
Warranty Against peeling; 365 days of service
Seller HONGBAKE
Best Sellers Rank #2,189 overall; #17 in Baking & Cookie Sheets

Why We Recommend It

This is the only listing on the page that gives you a thickness. The title says “0.8mm Thick Heavy Duty Cookie Tray”, and the second bullet says “With 57% thicker carbon steel”. 0.8mm is about 0.031 inches by our arithmetic. The 57% claim does not say what it is compared with, so it tells you nothing on its own, but the 0.8mm figure is a real number, and nine listings give none. Every other pan here asks you to take “heavy-duty” or “thick gauge” on trust.

It calls its largest pan a half sheet, and the numbers say otherwise. The title lists “Half/Quarter/Jelly Roll Pans” and the Size field says “Half/Jelly Roll/Quarter”. The third bullet gives the three sizes as “13”x9” /15”x10” /17.5”x12””. The 13 by 9 is a true quarter sheet. The 15 by 10 is the traditional jelly-roll size. The 17.5 by 12 is half an inch short of a half sheet in length and a full inch short in width: 210 square inches by our arithmetic, about 90% of a nominal 18 by 13. Close, but a half-sheet rack or silicone mat will not lie flat in it.

It is the only coated pan with a heat ceiling. “Warranty against peeling off with heat-resistance temperature: 450℉.” Four pans here are coated. The other three, the GoodCook, the KitchenAid and the USA Pan, give no ceiling at all. For a nonstick sheet pan that number matters: roasting recipes often call for 425°F or more, and a coating is the part of a pan that limits how hot it can go. HONGBAKE tells you; the other coated listings leave you to ask.

The coating claims are detailed. “The Whitford-reinforced for exceptional release, the two-layer coating is chemical-free – PFOA, BPA and PTFE”, with “a 34% silicon content”. A coating free of PTFE is a different chemistry from most conventional nonstick. The “diamond texture on the base” is said to increase release and airflow. Each claim is the seller’s, and none comes with a certification.

The gaps are care and rim. There is no dishwasher claim, and nothing about warping or the edge. The listed weight is 4.23 pounds for the three pans. The champagne gold colour is a styling choice the listing leans on hard, calling the set “affordable table art”.

What to weigh. #2,189 overall and #17 in the category, sold by HONGBAKE. Three useful sizes, the only stated thickness and the only coated pan with a temperature limit. Accept that its “half” is not quite a half sheet, and that cleaning advice is missing.

Pros

  • Only stated thickness here: 0.8mm
  • Only coated pan with an oven ceiling, 450°F
  • Three sizes including a true 13 x 9 quarter sheet
  • PFOA, BPA and PTFE free, stated
  • Peeling warranty stated
  • Diamond-textured base

Cons

  • Its “half” is 17.5 x 12 in, about 90% of a half sheet
  • No dishwasher claim
  • No rim or warp claim
  • “57% thicker” has no stated comparison
  • Not sold by Amazon.com

Best for: A buyer who wants a coated three-size set with a stated thickness and heat limit.

6. USA Pan Bakeware Half Sheet Pan, Set of 2 Baking Sheets, Aluminized Steel (1300ST) — Best Coated Half Sheet

Two silver half sheet pans with a ribbed corrugated base, one resting on the other

The only coated pan near a true half sheet, with the oven, dishwasher and warping questions left open.

Key Specifications

Pans in the set 2
Outer size 17.75 x 12.75 x 1 in (bullet); 18 x 13 in (spec table)
Baking surface 17.25 x 12.25 x 1.75 in, as listed
Material Commercial grade, heavy gauge aluminised steel
Surface Proprietary nonstick silicone coating; corrugated
Rim and warping Not stated
Oven-safe temperature Not stated
Dishwasher Not stated
Listed weight 1.2 lb; one pan or two not stated
Model and warranty 1300ST; limited lifetime warranty
Seller Amazon.com
Best Sellers Rank #3,171 overall; #21 in Baking & Cookie Sheets

Why We Recommend It

This is the only coated pan on the page within a whisker of a true half sheet. The title says “Half Sheet Pan, Set of 2”. The fourth bullet gives “Outer dimensions: 17. 75 x 12. 75 x 1 inches”, and the spec table rounds that to 18 by 13. A quarter of an inch under the nominal figure on each side is normal for a real half sheet; trade sizes are nominal, and commercial pans tend to measure a touch under them. By our arithmetic, the outer footprint is about 226 square inches, about 97% of a nominal 18 by 13. Half-sheet racks, mats and recipes are designed around this footprint. Only the bare aluminium Saffron & Sage and Winco hold to 18 by 13 in every field.

The listing’s figures do not all agree. The same bullet gives the baking surface as “17. 25 x 12. 25 x 1.75 inches”, a depth that is deeper than the 1-inch outer height beside it, and the spec table gives a height of 1.8 inches. The outer height of 1 inch is the typical half-sheet figure, and the 1.75 may be a slip, but the listing does not say which is right. We report both. The listed weight, 1.2 pounds, does not say whether it is one pan or the pair.

It is heavy-gauge aluminised steel with a corrugated base. “Commercial grade and heavy gauge aluminized steel”, with a “corrugated surface” that is said to “facilitate air circulation for a quick release and evenly baked baked-goods”. Ribbing also stiffens a flat sheet, though USA Pan does not make that claim, and the listing says nothing about warping or the rim. The coating is described as “USA Pan’s proprietary nonstick silicone coating”.

Three questions are left open. No oven ceiling is given for the coating. There is no dishwasher claim. There is no warp claim. For a pan sold as commercial grade, those are notable silences, and they are the reason this pick comes with homework: if you roast hot, ask about the ceiling; if you want to use the dishwasher, ask first.

The maker’s story is about domestic manufacture. The last bullet says USA Pan “has proudly manufactured high quality bakeware and provided jobs in the USA for over 60 years”. The listing does not state the country of origin of this set in a separate field, so we report the company claim as written. A limited lifetime warranty is stated, and the seller is Amazon.com.

What to weigh. #3,171 overall and #21 in the category. Two pans at the size most recipes, racks and mats expect, in a stiff, coated, corrugated steel. It is the coated choice for half-sheet recipes. Ask about heat and the dishwasher before you rely on either.

Pros

  • Near a true half sheet: 17.75 x 12.75 in outer
  • Two pans in the set
  • Heavy gauge aluminised steel, commercial grade
  • Corrugated base for release and airflow
  • Limited lifetime warranty
  • Sold by Amazon.com

Cons

  • No oven ceiling stated
  • No dishwasher claim
  • No rim or warp claim
  • Depth figures conflict: 1 in, 1.75 in and 1.8 in
  • Weight does not say one pan or two

Best for: Anyone who wants a real half sheet that matches half-sheet recipes, racks and mats.

7. Baker’s Signature Stainless Steel Cookie Sheet Set of 3, 9/12/16 Inch — Best Graduated Stainless Set

Three mirror-polished stainless steel baking sheets in small, medium and large sizes

Three bare stainless pans with a 450°F ceiling and dishwasher use stated, sized by one number each.

Key Specifications

Pans in the set 3
Sizes 9, 12 and 16 in (single figures); spec table 16 x 12 x 1 in
Material Food-grade stainless steel, uncoated
Surface Mirror-polished; marketed as nonstick
Rim and warping Rolled edges; said to resist warping over time
Oven-safe temperature 450°F
Dishwasher Dishwasher safe, stated
Listed weight 3.2 lb for three pans
Seller Gerbi Direct US
Best Sellers Rank #3,178 overall; #22 in Baking & Cookie Sheets

Why We Recommend It

Three bare stainless pans, and each size is a single number. The title says “9/12/16” Baking Sheet Pans”, and the first bullet repeats “3 practical sizes (9”, 12”, and 16”)”. A sheet pan has two dimensions, and the listing gives one. The spec table gives 16 by 12 by 1 inches, which is presumably the largest pan, but the listing does not say so, and gives no width for the 9 or 12. If the large pan is 16 by 12, it is the same footprint as the Rottay, about 82% of a nominal half sheet by our arithmetic.

It is one of three listings with an oven ceiling. “This non toxic baking sheet set is rust-resistant and oven safe up to 450°F.” For uncoated stainless steel, that figure is conservative; there is no coating to protect. But it is a number in writing, and six listings do not give one.

It calls itself nonstick without a coating. “Made without coatings or chemicals, each stainless steel baking pan is PFOA, lead, and cadmium-free”, and “The mirror-polished surface of each baking sheet non toxic design ensures easy food release”. A polished surface helps, but bare stainless steel is not nonstick in the way a coating is. Expect to use parchment or oil for cookies and anything sugary.

Rim, warping and care are all addressed. “Rolled edges protect your hands”, and the pans “heat evenly and resist warping over time”. It says “Dishwasher safe for quick cleanup or hand-washable for delicate care”. That combination, a ceiling, a warp claim, a rim and a dishwasher line, puts it among the most completely described pans on the page, despite the missing widths.

What to weigh. #3,178 overall and #22 in the category, sold by Gerbi Direct US. Three uncoated sizes with heat and care in writing. Ask the seller for the full dimensions of each pan before you buy, and do not expect a half sheet in the box.

Pros

  • Oven safe to 450°F, stated
  • Dishwasher safe, stated
  • Rolled edges and warp resistance claimed
  • Uncoated; PFOA, lead and cadmium free stated
  • Three sizes in one set

Cons

  • Each pan sized by one number only
  • Largest likely 16 x 12 in, short of a half sheet
  • Called nonstick without a coating
  • No warranty stated
  • Not sold by Amazon.com

Best for: A buyer who wants uncoated stainless pans in three sizes with heat and dishwasher use in writing.

8. Yuiicaov Baking Sheet Set of 2, Stainless Steel, 18 x 13 Inch Half Sheet Pan (BS-03) — Best Stainless

Two large polished stainless steel half sheet pans with rolled rims on a white counter

The title says 18 by 13, the bullet says 17.5 by 13, and either way it is the closest stainless pan to a half sheet.

Key Specifications

Pans in the set 2
Size 18 x 13 in (title and spec table); 17.5 x 13 x 1 in (bullet)
Material 18/0 stainless steel, no coating
Surface Mirror finish; marketed as nonstick
Rim and warping Rolled rims; “99.99% probability of not warping” at 450°F
Oven-safe temperature 450°F
Dishwasher Dishwasher safe, stated
Listed weight 4.03 lb for two pans
Model BS-03
Seller Yuiicaov
Best Sellers Rank #3,200 overall; #23 in Baking & Cookie Sheets

Why We Recommend It

The title prints the trade size, and the bullet takes half an inch back. The title says “18 x 13 Inch Thicker Large Baking Pans” and “Half Sheet Pan”, and the spec table says 18 by 13. The second bullet says “2 nonstick half-cookie sheets, both 17.5 x 13 x 1 inch”. Both may be true, one the outline and one something else, but the listing does not say. By our arithmetic, 17.5 by 13 is 227.5 square inches, about 97% of a nominal half sheet, essentially the same as the USA Pan’s outer footprint. Either way, these are the closest stainless pans to a half sheet on the page, though unlike the Saffron & Sage and Winco, they do not hold to one figure.

It states 450°F and puts a number on warping. “Our product test data shows that this series of baking pans have a 99.99% probability of not warping in a 450℉ oven.” That is the seller’s own figure, without a method, and it should be read as a claim rather than a measurement. Still, it is the only warp claim on the page with a number attached, and the listing backs it with design detail: “rolled rims offers better protection to your hands. Rolled edges also help keep it fairly warp-resistant when exposed to high heats and sudden temperature changes.”

18/0 stainless steel is a specific grade. The listing says “food-grade pure 18/0 stainless steel without chemical coating”. 18/0 means about 18% chromium and no nickel. It is magnetic, which is irrelevant in an oven, and somewhat less corrosion-resistant than 18/8 grades, but it is a common, sensible choice for bakeware. No other stainless listing here names its grade.

The nonstick claim is a polish, not a coating. The title says “Warp Resistant Nonstick Half Sheet Pan” and the bullet says “smooth mirror finish surface makes food release easily”. Bare stainless steel holds on to sugar and egg more than a coated pan does, so parchment is still your friend for cookies. The listing also says the pans “fits most regular toaster ovens”; an 18 by 13 inch pan will not go in most toaster ovens, so treat that line with caution and measure.

Care is spelled out. “Dishwasher safe to save your labor and time, easy to clean even by hands.” The listed weight is 4.03 pounds for the pair, about 2 pounds per pan by our arithmetic.

What to weigh. #3,200 overall and #23 in the category, sold by Yuiicaov. If you want an uncoated half sheet with heat and dishwasher use both in writing, this is the only half-sheet-sized listing here that gives both. Accept the size conflict, the unverified warp statistic and the “nonstick” word on bare steel.

Pros

  • Close to a half sheet: 18 x 13 in titled, 17.5 x 13 in in bullet
  • Oven safe to 450°F, stated
  • Dishwasher safe, stated
  • Rolled rims with a warp claim
  • Names its grade: 18/0 stainless
  • About 2 lb per pan by our arithmetic

Cons

  • Title and bullet disagree on length
  • Warp statistic is the seller’s, without method
  • Called nonstick without a coating
  • Toaster-oven claim unlikely for this size
  • Not sold by Amazon.com
  • No warranty stated

Best for: A buyer who wants an uncoated half-sheet-sized pan with heat and dishwasher use stated.

9. Saffron & Sage Commercial Quality Cookie Sheet Pan, 2 Pack Aluminum Half Sheet, 18×13 (SSHL001) — Best Overall

Key Specifications

Pans in the set 2
Size 18 x 13 x 1.05 in (bullet); 18 x 13 in (title); 18 x 13 x 1 in (spec table)
Material Aluminium, “thick aluminum gauge”; no figure given
Surface Bare; “no teflon or other coatings added”
Rim and warping Reinforced steel rim; rust and warp resistant, stated
Oven-safe temperature 500°F / 260°C
Dishwasher Not stated; “easy to clean”
Rack included No
Listed weight 4.17 lb for two pans
Model SSHL001
Seller Saffron & Sage Home Living
Best Sellers Rank #6,529 overall; #39 in Baking & Cookie Sheets

Why We Recommend It

This is a half sheet on every line of its listing. The title says “2 Pack Aluminum Half Sheet Baking Pan” and “This 18×13 Rimmed Baking Sheet Set”. The second bullet gives “18 x 13 x 1.05 inch”, and the spec table gives 18 by 13 by 1. Of the five listings on this page that call themselves half sheets, only this one and the Winco never print a smaller figure anywhere. Half-sheet racks, silicone mats, parchment sheets and recipes are all cut for this footprint, about 234 square inches by our arithmetic.

It states the highest heat on the page. The first bullet says the pans have “a reinforced steel rim to withstand temperatures of up to 500ºF / 260ºC without twisting or warping”. Four listings here give an oven figure; the other three stop at 450°F. For bare aluminium the number is less about a coating than about the rim and the sheet holding their shape, and this listing ties the figure to exactly that. It also lists “roasting, broiling, grilling, and dehydrating” among the uses.

It is bare metal on purpose. “Its metal surface has no teflon or other coatings added, therefore these half sheet pans will not peel or rust.” Aluminium does not rust in the way steel does, and with no coating there is nothing to wear through. The listing credits aluminium as “the best conductor of heat”, which overstates it slightly (copper and silver conduct better), but aluminium does spread heat far faster than steel, which is why bare aluminium half sheets are a bakery standard. The cost is release: bare aluminium sticks without parchment or a mat, and it can discolour over time.

The gauge is a word, not a number. The title says “Heavy Duty, of Thick Gauge” and the bullet says “a thick aluminum gauge”, with no figure. The listed weight is 4.17 pounds for the pair, about 2.1 pounds per pan by our arithmetic. That is the only clue to the metal, and it is a reasonable one for a rimmed half sheet, but only HONGBAKE on this page gives a thickness.

Cleaning is the gap. The listing says the trays are “non-toxic, food safe and easy to clean” and makes no dishwasher claim. Bare aluminium is commonly washed by hand, because dishwasher detergents can darken it, and here that is left for you to know. No warranty is stated, and the seller is Saffron & Sage Home Living rather than Amazon.com.

What to weigh. #6,529 overall and #39 in the category, second-lowest on the page. Two true half sheets, bare aluminium, a steel rim and a 500°F figure in writing. It wins this page on size and heat. Plan to hand wash and to line it for cookies.

Pros

  • 18 x 13 in in every field, title, bullet and spec table
  • Highest stated ceiling here: 500°F
  • Reinforced steel rim, warp resistance stated
  • Bare aluminium, no coating to peel
  • Two pans in the set
  • About 2.1 lb per pan by our arithmetic

Cons

  • No dishwasher claim
  • Gauge described, not measured
  • Bare aluminium needs parchment or a mat
  • No warranty stated
  • Not sold by Amazon.com
  • Second-lowest rank on the page

Best for: A home baker who wants two true half sheets in bare aluminium with a stated heat limit.

10. Winco 13" x 18" Aluminum Sheet Pan, 1/2 Size (ALXP-1318) — Best Commercial

A single plain aluminium half sheet pan with a rolled rim on a stainless steel work surface

A restaurant-supply half sheet in 3003 aluminium, 18 by 13 in every field, with four short bullets and nothing on heat or washing.

Key Specifications

Pans 1
Size 13 x 18 in (title); 18 x 13 x 1 in (spec table)
Material 3003 aluminium, commercial grade
Surface Bare
Rim and warping Galvanised wire-in reinforced rim; closed bead
Oven-safe temperature Not stated
Dishwasher Not stated
Rack included No
Listed weight 1.0 lb
Model ALXP-1318
Seller Amazon.com
Best Sellers Rank #7,696 overall; #42 in Baking & Cookie Sheets

Why We Recommend It

This is the trade half sheet, sold by a trade brand. The title is plain: “Winco 13” x 18” Aluminum Sheet Pan, 1/2 Size”. The spec table gives 18 by 13 by 1 inches. The first bullet says “1/2 Size – Large flat baking surface”. There is no second figure to contradict the first. With the Saffron & Sage, it is one of only two listings on the page that are 18 by 13 wherever you look.

It names its alloy, which nobody else does. “Commercial-Grade – Made from 3003 aluminum designed to withstand daily use in commercial restaurant kitchens and bakeries.” 3003 is a common aluminium-manganese alloy for sheet bakeware, a little stronger than pure aluminium. Nordic Ware says “pure aluminum” and Saffron & Sage just says aluminium; Winco is the only listing that gives a grade. Like the other bare aluminium pans, it will need parchment or a mat for sticky bakes.

The rim is described in trade terms. “Reinforced Rim – Galvanized wire-in reinforced rim prevents sheet pan from bending or warping”, and “Closed Bead – Prevents rust and corrosion maximizing longevity of the baking sheet”. A wire rolled inside the rim is the classic way to stiffen an aluminium sheet. A closed bead seals that wire in, so water cannot reach the steel and rust it from inside. Nordic Ware describes the same idea as an encapsulated galvanised steel rim. Of the six listings here that describe a rim, Nordic Ware and Winco are the two that say a galvanised steel core sits inside it.

It leaves out heat and cleaning entirely. There is no oven figure and no dishwasher claim. Bare aluminium has no coating to limit its heat, so the missing ceiling matters less than it would on a coated pan, and aluminium half sheets are commonly washed by hand. Still, both are left for you to assume. No warranty is stated. The listed weight is 1.0 pound, which seems light for a wire-rimmed half sheet; the listing does not say whether it is a rounded or placeholder figure, so treat it with caution.

What to weigh. #7,696 overall and #42 in Baking & Cookie Sheets, the lowest rank on the page, sold by Amazon.com. One true half sheet with a named alloy and a sealed wire rim. If you want the plain restaurant pan and will buy a second later, this is it. If you want heat, care and a warranty in writing, the listing gives none of them.

Pros

  • 18 x 13 in in every field
  • Names its alloy: 3003 aluminium
  • Galvanised wire-in reinforced rim
  • Closed bead to keep the wire from rusting
  • Sold by Amazon.com

Cons

  • No oven ceiling stated
  • No dishwasher claim
  • One pan only
  • No warranty stated
  • 1.0 lb listed weight seems light
  • Lowest rank on the page

Best for: A cook who wants one plain restaurant-pattern half sheet and nothing more.

Five Say Half Sheet, Two Print 18 by 13 Everywhere

The trade half sheet is about 18 by 13 inches, nominal. The table below sets each listing’s largest pan against that figure, using the size the listing itself gives, and where fields disagree, every figure. The area and percentage columns are our arithmetic, length times width, set against 234 square inches for a nominal 18 by 13. They are a way of reading the listings, not measurements of the pans.

Listing Called half sheet? Largest pan as stated Area (ours) Share of 18 x 13 (ours)
Saffron & Sage Yes, title 18 x 13 in in every field 234 sq in 100%
Winco Yes, “1/2 Size” 13 x 18 in in title and spec table 234 sq in 100%
USA Pan Yes, title 17.75 x 12.75 in outer; 18 x 13 in spec table About 226 sq in About 97%
Yuiicaov Yes, title 18 x 13 in title; 17.5 x 13 in bullet About 228 sq in (bullet) About 97%
HONGBAKE Yes, “Half” 17.5 x 12 in 210 sq in About 90%
Rottay No 16 x 12 in 192 sq in About 82%
Baker’s Signature No 16 in; spec table 16 x 12 in 192 sq in if 16 x 12 About 82%
GoodCook 3-Pack No 17 x 11 in 187 sq in About 80%
KitchenAid No 9 x 13 in; spec table 10.71 x 10.71 in 117 sq in (title) 50%
Nordic Ware No, “Big Sheet” 21 x 15 in; surface 20.3 x 14.3 in 315 sq in outer About 135%

Two listings never waver. Saffron & Sage and Winco give 18 by 13 in the title and the spec table, and Saffron & Sage adds 18 by 13 by 1.05 in a bullet. Both are bare aluminium with a steel-reinforced rim, the commercial pattern bakeries have used for decades. If you want the pan half-sheet recipes, racks and mats are designed around, these are the two listings that commit to it on every line.

Two more print 18 by 13 once and something smaller elsewhere. The USA Pan’s spec table says 18 by 13; its bullet says 17.75 by 12.75 outside. The Yuiicaov’s title says 18 by 13; its bullet says 17.5 by 13. That is not necessarily a fault. Half-sheet sizes are nominal, real pans often run a little under, and a listing may round in one field and measure in another. But a buyer who reads only the Yuiicaov title would expect a pan half an inch longer than its own bullet describes.

HONGBAKE’s “half” is a label, not a size. At 17.5 by 12 inches it is a full inch narrower than the trade size. Half-sheet cooling racks, silicone mats and parchment sheets are cut for 18 by 13 pans; a mat that fits a true half sheet will ride up the sides of this one.

Below the half-sheet line, sizes cluster. Three listings top out at 16 or 17 inches long: the Rottay at 16 by 12, the Baker’s Signature at 16 (with a 16 by 12 spec table) and the GoodCook 3-pack at 17 by 11. The KitchenAid stops at 9 by 13, the trade quarter sheet, and the GoodCook and HONGBAKE sets each include a 13 by 9 as their smallest pan. And one goes the other way: Nordic Ware’s Big Sheet, at 21 by 15 inches, is larger than a half sheet by about a third. It suits a large oven and a large household, and it will not take half-sheet accessories.

Rows of round cookies baked on a parchment-lined metal baking sheet
A 17 by 11 inch pan holds about 80% of a half sheet by our arithmetic: fewer cookies per batch.

Material, Coating, Rim, Heat and Care, Counted

Size tells you what fits. The rest of a sheet pan’s spec sheet tells you how it will behave and how long it will last. Here is what each listing states, in its own terms, with the model number where one is given.

Saffron & Sage SSHL001 Aluminium Bare Reinforced steel rim 500°F Not stated 2 / no
Winco ALXP-1318 3003 aluminium Bare Galvanised wire-in rim; closed bead Not stated Not stated 1 / no

Ten listings, ten different products. Seven give a model number and no two share one: 04550, 44600AMZ, KQ952OSNSA, 1300ST, BS-03, SSHL001 and ALXP-1318. The Rottay, HONGBAKE and Baker’s Signature give none.

Four materials, split by coating. Plain aluminium appears on three listings, all bare: the Nordic Ware, the Saffron & Sage and the Winco. Carbon steel appears on two, both coated: the GoodCook and the HONGBAKE. Aluminised steel appears on two, both coated: the KitchenAid and the USA Pan. Stainless steel appears on three, all bare: the Rottay, the Baker’s Signature and the Yuiicaov. On this page, every steel pan that can rust is coated, and every pan that cannot is bare. Two of the bare stainless sets still call themselves nonstick, on the strength of a mirror polish.

Seven make a warp claim; six describe a rim. The GoodCook says its carbon steel resists warping without describing the edge. The Rottay, Nordic Ware, Baker’s Signature, Yuiicaov, Saffron & Sage and Winco each describe a rolled, reinforced, wired or encapsulated rim. The KitchenAid, the HONGBAKE and the USA Pan say nothing about warping. Warping is the classic sheet-pan failure: a thin sheet heated unevenly twists, sometimes with a bang, and a pan that rocks on a flat surface browns unevenly from then on. A stiff rim is the main defence. Nordic Ware and Winco are the two that say a galvanised steel core sits inside the rim, and Winco adds a closed bead to keep water off it.

Four state an oven ceiling, and only one is coated. Saffron & Sage gives 500°F for bare aluminium. The HONGBAKE gives 450°F for its coating. The Baker’s Signature and the Yuiicaov give 450°F for bare stainless steel. The three other coated pans, the GoodCook, the KitchenAid and the USA Pan, give no figure. That is the wrong way round: a coating is what limits a sheet pan’s heat, and the coated listings are the ones that most need to state it.

Four say dishwasher safe; one of them recommends hand washing. The KitchenAid, Baker’s Signature and Yuiicaov say dishwasher safe without a caveat. The GoodCook says dishwasher safe and then recommends hand washing for a longer life. Nordic Ware recommends hand washing and makes no dishwasher claim. The Rottay, HONGBAKE, USA Pan, Saffron & Sage and Winco say nothing either way, which for the two bare aluminium half sheets most likely means hand washing.

One set includes racks. The Rottay’s two pans come with two cooling racks, sized at 15.35 by 11 inches to sit inside them. Every other listing is pans only. Between them, the ten listings put 20 pans on the page: three each from the GoodCook, the HONGBAKE and the Baker’s Signature; two each from the Rottay, the USA Pan, the Yuiicaov and the Saffron & Sage; and one each from the Nordic Ware, the KitchenAid and the Winco.

Which Metal Suits Which Job

The listings each make claims for their own material. Read together, they describe the familiar trade-offs. None of this is measured on these pans; it is how the materials generally behave.

  • Bare aluminium — the classic baker’s half sheet. Aluminium spreads heat fast and evenly, which suits cookies and pastry. It has no coating to wear out, but it is soft, it sticks without parchment, and it can discolour in a dishwasher. The Nordic Ware, Saffron & Sage and Winco are the examples here, all three with a steel-reinforced rim to stop them twisting.
  • Aluminised steel — steel with an aluminium-silicon surface that resists rust. Stiffer than aluminium, so less prone to warping at a given thickness, and the base of most commercial-style coated pans. The USA Pan and the KitchenAid use it, both coated.
  • Carbon steel — strong and inexpensive, but it rusts if bare, so here it is always coated. The GoodCook and the HONGBAKE use it. The HONGBAKE is the only listing on the page to state a thickness, 0.8mm.
  • Stainless steel — does not rust, needs no coating, tolerates metal tools and the dishwasher. It conducts heat less well than aluminium, so it browns more slowly and less evenly unless thick, and it releases food less easily than a coated pan. The Rottay, Baker’s Signature and Yuiicaov use it.

For roasting vegetables at high heat, a bare pan, aluminium or stainless, takes the temperature without a coating to worry about, and Saffron & Sage puts 500°F in writing; our roasting pan roundup covers deeper pans for whole birds and joints. For cookies, a light-coloured aluminium half sheet with parchment is the traditional choice. For easy release and quick cleaning, a coated pan wins, provided you know its ceiling and accept that the coating is the part that wears. If you are weighing coatings across a whole kitchen, our nonstick cookware set guide and ceramic cookware roundup set out what different coatings claim.

Popularity Runs Opposite to Size

Star ratings were not captured for this roundup, so the only popularity measure here is Amazon’s Best Sellers Rank, as returned on 5 October 2026. All ten sit in Baking & Cookie Sheets, so the category ranks compare directly. Ranks move constantly; read the order, not the precise numbers.

Listing Overall rank Category rank Largest pan
GoodCook 3-Pack #72 #1 17 x 11 in
Rottay #1,050 #9 16 x 12 in
Nordic Ware #1,187 #10 21 x 15 in
KitchenAid #1,232 #11 9 x 13 in
HONGBAKE #2,189 #17 17.5 x 12 in
USA Pan #3,171 #21 17.75 x 12.75 in
Baker’s Signature #3,178 #22 16 in
Yuiicaov #3,200 #23 18 x 13 / 17.5 x 13 in
Saffron & Sage #6,529 #39 18 x 13 in
Winco #7,696 #42 18 x 13 in

The only two consistent half sheets hold the two lowest ranks. Saffron & Sage is #39 in the category and Winco #42. The GoodCook at #1 has nothing larger than 17 by 11 inches. Of the pans that print 18 by 13 anywhere, the best-ranked is the USA Pan at #21. Whatever drives those sales, it is not the trade half-sheet size. If a half sheet is what your recipes call for, rank is not a reliable guide on this page.

What Each Step Up in Size and Metal Buys

The quarter sheet — KitchenAid. 9 by 13 inches, about 117 square inches by our arithmetic. It fits small ovens, stacks neatly and suits one or two people, and adds extended handles. No oven ceiling is stated.

The in-between pans — GoodCook 3-pack, Rottay, Baker’s Signature. 16 to 17 inches long, about 80 to 82% of a half sheet by our arithmetic. The GoodCook adds two smaller pans and the top rank; the Rottay adds racks and a reinforced rim; the Baker’s Signature adds 450°F and dishwasher use in writing. All three fall short of half-sheet recipes, racks and mats.

The near-half sheets — HONGBAKE, USA Pan, Yuiicaov. 90 to 97% of a nominal half sheet by our arithmetic. The HONGBAKE adds a stated thickness and a coated ceiling, but its 12-inch width keeps half-sheet mats from lying flat. The USA Pan is coated aluminised steel within a quarter inch of the trade size; the Yuiicaov is bare 18/0 stainless with heat and dishwasher use stated, and a bullet that takes half an inch off its title.

The true half sheets — Saffron & Sage, Winco. 18 by 13 inches on every line, bare aluminium, steel-reinforced rims. Saffron & Sage adds a second pan and a 500°F figure; Winco adds a named alloy, 3003, and a sealed wire rim, and is sold by Amazon.com. Neither states dishwasher use.

The big sheet — Nordic Ware. 21 by 15 inches, about a third larger than a half sheet. It buys capacity, bare aluminium and an encapsulated steel rim, at the cost of oven fit and half-sheet accessories.

Rank does not track size. The best-selling listing is a set of smaller coated pans, and the two true half sheets sit at the very bottom of the category order. On this page, what a higher rank buys is a familiar brand and a coated pan; the half sheet you have to look for.

What to Check Before You Buy

Find Both Dimensions in Every Field

Four listings here print 18 by 13, and two of them print a smaller figure elsewhere. One, the Baker’s Signature, gives each pan a single number. Read the title, the bullets and the spec table, and if they disagree, assume the smaller figure until the seller tells you otherwise.

Know What “Half Sheet” Should Mean

By trade convention, a half sheet is about 18 by 13 inches and a quarter sheet about 13 by 9. Real half sheets often measure a fraction under, like the USA Pan’s 17.75 by 12.75. A pan sold as half that is 17.5 by 12, like the HONGBAKE, is close but will not take half-sheet mats flat. The Saffron & Sage and Winco hold to 18 by 13 throughout.

Measure Your Oven, Not the Recipe

A half sheet fits most full-size home ovens. Nordic Ware’s 21 by 15 inch Big Sheet needs a wider shelf, and compact or wall ovens may not take it. Toaster ovens usually take a quarter sheet at most; treat any listing that says an 18 by 13 pan fits a toaster oven with caution.

Ask for the Oven Ceiling on a Coated Pan

Four pans here are coated, and only the HONGBAKE gives a ceiling, 450°F. If you roast at 425°F or above, or use the grill, ask the seller of any coated pan for its limit. Bare stainless and aluminium pans have no coating to protect, and Saffron & Sage states 500°F.

Look for a Described Rim

Seven listings claim warp resistance, and six describe the rim that delivers it: rolled on the Rottay, Baker’s Signature and Yuiicaov, steel-reinforced on the Saffron & Sage, and a galvanised steel core on the Nordic Ware and Winco. A rim you can picture is a stronger promise than a warp claim made for the metal alone.

Read the Dishwasher Line to the End

Four say dishwasher safe, and the GoodCook recommends hand washing in the same sentence. Nordic Ware recommends hand washing outright. Five say nothing, including both true half sheets. If the dishwasher is non-negotiable, the KitchenAid, Baker’s Signature and Yuiicaov say it without a caveat.

Count the Pans and the Racks

The ten listings range from one pan to three, and only the Rottay includes racks. Two quarter sheets cover the area of one half sheet, but not in one piece. Decide whether you want one big pan, two matching ones or a graduated set, and whether a rack is worth buying with them.

Common Mistakes

  • Trusting the title’s size. The Yuiicaov title says 18 x 13 in; its own bullet says 17.5 x 13 in.
  • Reading “half” as half sheet. HONGBAKE’s “Half” pan is 17.5 x 12 in, a full inch narrower than the trade size.
  • Assuming the top seller is a half sheet. The #1 GoodCook set’s largest pan is 17 x 11 in, about 80% of one by our arithmetic.
  • Using rank to find a half sheet. The two pans at 18 x 13 in every field rank #39 and #42 in their category, last of the ten.
  • Assuming a coated pan is fine at any heat. Three of four coated pans give no oven ceiling; only the HONGBAKE states 450°F.
  • Taking “nonstick” on bare stainless literally. Two uncoated stainless sets use the word; their release comes from a polish.
  • Buying the Big Sheet without measuring. Nordic Ware’s pan is 21 x 15 in, about 35% larger than a half sheet by our arithmetic.
  • Putting bare aluminium in the dishwasher by default. Neither true half sheet here makes a dishwasher claim; Nordic Ware says hand wash.

Who Should Buy Which

Buy the Saffron & Sage set if you want two true half sheets. 18 by 13 inches on every line, bare aluminium, a reinforced steel rim and a 500°F figure, the highest on the page. Plan to hand wash, because the listing makes no dishwasher claim.

Buy the Winco if you want one plain restaurant half sheet from Amazon.com. 18 by 13 inches, 3003 aluminium, a galvanised wire-in rim with a closed bead. Accept that heat, cleaning and warranty are all unstated.

Buy the GoodCook 3-pack if you want three coated sizes and the category’s best seller. 13 by 9, 15 by 10 and 17 by 11 inches, dishwasher safe with hand washing advised, and a Limited Lifetime warranty. Accept that the largest pan is about 80% of a half sheet and that no oven ceiling is stated.

Buy the USA Pan Half Sheet set if you want a coated half sheet. 17.75 by 12.75 inches outside by its own figure, two pans, heavy-gauge aluminised steel with a corrugated base and a limited lifetime warranty, sold by Amazon.com. Ask about the oven ceiling and the dishwasher.

Buy the Yuiicaov if you want an uncoated stainless half sheet. Two 18/0 stainless pans sold as 18 by 13 inches, 17.5 by 13 in the bullet, with 450°F, rolled rims and dishwasher use stated.

Buy the Rottay if you want racks. Two 16 by 12 inch stainless pans with two racks sized to fit and a reinforced rolled edge. Accept that oven and dishwasher limits are not stated.

Buy the Nordic Ware Big Sheet if your oven is big and your trays are full. 21 by 15 inches of bare aluminium with an encapsulated steel rim, made in America of domestic and imported materials, with a lifetime limited warranty. Measure the oven first.

Buy the KitchenAid if handles matter most. A 9 by 13 inch coated aluminised steel pan with extended handles, dishwasher safe. Confirm the size, because the spec table disagrees with the title.

Buy the HONGBAKE if you want a coated set with a stated thickness and ceiling. 0.8mm carbon steel, 450°F, three sizes. Accept that its “half” is 17.5 by 12 inches and that cleaning advice is missing.

Buy the Baker’s Signature if you want uncoated stainless in three sizes with heat and care stated. 450°F and dishwasher safe in writing. Get the full dimensions from the seller first.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best sheet pan?

For most kitchens, a true half sheet, and on this page the Saffron and Sage set of two is the most complete. It gives 18 by 13 inches in its title, a bullet and its spec table, is bare aluminium with a reinforced steel rim, and states the highest oven figure here, 500 degrees Fahrenheit. Its gaps are a dishwasher claim and a warranty, and it is not sold by Amazon.com. The Winco is the other consistent 18 by 13 pan: a single 3003 aluminium half sheet with a galvanised wire-in rim, sold by Amazon.com, with no heat or cleaning line. If you want a coating, the USA Pan half sheets are 17.75 by 12.75 inches outside in aluminised steel. If you want the category best seller, the GoodCook 3-pack is #1 in Baking and Cookie Sheets, but its largest pan is 17 by 11 inches.

What size is a half sheet pan?

By trade convention, a half sheet pan is about 18 by 13 inches, half of a full commercial sheet of about 26 by 18 inches. A quarter sheet is about 13 by 9. These are nominal sizes used across restaurant supply, and real pans often measure a fraction under them. On this page, five listings call themselves half sheets. Saffron and Sage and Winco give 18 by 13 in every field. USA Pan gives 18 by 13 in its spec table but 17.75 by 12.75 inches outside in a bullet, and Yuiicaov gives 18 by 13 in its title but 17.5 by 13 in a bullet. HONGBAKE calls a 17.5 by 12 inch pan its half. Half-sheet cooling racks, silicone mats and parchment sheets are cut for the trade size, so a pan that falls well short will not take them flat. Read every dimension field, not just the title.

What is the best baking sheet for cookies?

Cookies want even, fast heat and easy release. Traditionally that means a light-coloured bare aluminium half sheet lined with parchment, which is exactly what the Saffron and Sage and Winco pans are: 18 by 13 inches, aluminium, steel-reinforced rims. The Nordic Ware Big Sheet is bare aluminium too, but at 21 by 15 inches it needs a large oven. The USA Pan half sheets are aluminised steel with a nonstick coating and a corrugated base said to help release and airflow. The HONGBAKE set adds a diamond-textured coated base and a stated 450 degree Fahrenheit limit. Coated pans give the easiest release, though the coating is the part that wears, and the GoodCook listing recommends hand washing to make it last. The bare stainless sets, Rottay, Baker’s Signature and Yuiicaov, avoid coatings but release sugary dough less readily, so use parchment or a silicone mat.

What is the best half sheet pan?

Five of the ten listings here use the words half sheet, and two stand out for consistency. The Saffron and Sage set of two is 18 by 13 inches in every field, bare aluminium with a reinforced steel rim and a stated 500 degrees Fahrenheit. The Winco is a single 18 by 13 inch pan in 3003 aluminium with a galvanised wire-in rim and a closed bead, sold by Amazon.com, though it states no heat or dishwasher line. The USA Pan set of two is about 97 percent of the trade size by our arithmetic, in coated aluminised steel with a limited lifetime warranty. The Yuiicaov set is uncoated 18/0 stainless sold as 18 by 13, with 17.5 by 13 in its bullet, 450 degrees and dishwasher use stated. The HONGBAKE half, at 17.5 by 12, is too narrow for half-sheet mats to lie flat.

What is the best cookie sheet set?

It depends on whether you want sizes or matching pans. The GoodCook 3-pack is the best seller in Baking and Cookie Sheets, with 13 by 9, 15 by 10 and 17 by 11 inch coated carbon steel pans, dishwasher safe with hand washing advised and a Limited Lifetime warranty. The HONGBAKE set covers similar ground, 13 by 9, 15 by 10 and 17.5 by 12 inches, and adds the only stated thickness here, 0.8 millimetres, plus a 450 degree Fahrenheit limit. The Baker’s Signature set is uncoated stainless in 9, 12 and 16 inch sizes with 450 degrees and dishwasher use stated, though each size is given as a single figure. For matching pans, the Saffron and Sage, USA Pan and Yuiicaov each give two half-sheet-sized pans. The Rottay is the only set with cooling racks.

Is a stainless steel or aluminium sheet pan better?

They suit different cooks. Aluminium spreads heat quickly and evenly, which is why bare aluminium half sheets are a bakery standard, but it is soft, can warp if thin and unreinforced, sticks without parchment and can discolour in a dishwasher. The Nordic Ware, Saffron and Sage and Winco are bare aluminium, each with a steel-reinforced rim against warping, and Saffron and Sage states 500 degrees Fahrenheit. Stainless steel does not rust, needs no coating, tolerates metal tools and, on two listings here, the dishwasher. It conducts heat less readily, so it can brown more slowly, and bare stainless releases food less easily than a coated pan. The Rottay, Baker’s Signature and Yuiicaov are stainless, and two of them state 450 degrees. Aluminised steel, used by the USA Pan and the KitchenAid, sits between: steel stiffness with a rust-resistant surface, here always under a nonstick coating.

Can nonstick sheet pans go in a hot oven?

Usually yes, within the coating’s limit, and that limit is what most coated listings here leave out. Four of the ten pans are coated: the GoodCook, the KitchenAid, the USA Pan and the HONGBAKE. Only the HONGBAKE states a ceiling, 450 degrees Fahrenheit, in a line that also offers a warranty against peeling. The other three give no figure. Many roasting recipes call for 425 degrees or more, and some finish under a grill, where a coated pan close to the element can exceed its rating. If you roast hot, ask the seller of any coated pan for its maximum temperature before you buy, or choose a bare pan for those jobs. Saffron and Sage states 500 degrees for its bare aluminium half sheets, and the Baker’s Signature and Yuiicaov state 450 degrees for bare stainless. The Nordic Ware, Winco and Rottay are bare and state no ceiling.

How do I stop a sheet pan from warping?

Warping happens when a thin sheet of metal heats unevenly and the stress twists it, often with an audible pop. A stiff rim, a thicker sheet and a ribbed base all help. On this page, six listings describe a rim. Nordic Ware and Winco both describe a galvanised steel core inside the rim, and Winco adds a closed bead to keep it from rusting. Saffron and Sage describes a reinforced steel rim rated to 500 degrees Fahrenheit without twisting. The Rottay has a reinforced rolled edge, and the Baker’s Signature and Yuiicaov have rolled edges, the Yuiicaov adding the seller’s own figure of a 99.99 percent probability of not warping at 450 degrees, without a method. The GoodCook says its steel resists warping. In use, spread food evenly, avoid putting a hot pan under cold water, and do not heat an empty thin pan at full blast.

Best CommercialWinco 13 x 18 Aluminum Sheet Pan, 1/2 Size

A 3003 aluminium half sheet at 18 x 13 in with a galvanised wire-in rim, sold by Amazon.com.

Half sheet is a size, about 18 by 13 inches, and the label does not guarantee it. Five of ten listings use the words. Four print 18 by 13 somewhere. Only two, Saffron & Sage and Winco, print it in every field, and both are bare aluminium with steel-reinforced rims: the commercial pan, sold as one.

The best sellers are the smaller pans. The GoodCook 3-pack is #1 in Baking & Cookie Sheets with nothing larger than 17 by 11 inches. The two consistent half sheets rank #39 and #42, the bottom of the page.

Past size, the listings are thin where it matters. Four pans are coated, and only one gives an oven ceiling. Seven claim warp resistance, and six describe a rim. Four say dishwasher safe, and one recommends hand washing in the same breath. Only the Rottay includes racks, and only the HONGBAKE states a thickness. Read every field, and ask the seller where the listing is silent.

If you buy one sheet pan from this page, make it the Saffron & Sage set: two pans at the size recipes, racks and mats expect, bare aluminium with a reinforced steel rim and a 500°F figure in writing. Hand wash it and line it for cookies. If you would rather buy from Amazon.com and one pan will do, the Winco is the same commercial pattern; if you want three coated sizes and the category best seller, the GoodCook 3-pack.
