Ask Any Best Pancake Griddle for 375F and Eight Give No Number

A pancake asks two things of a griddle. The first is the right temperature. As general guidance, most pancake recipes want a surface of about 350 to 375°F: hot enough to set the outside and brown it in two or three minutes, not so hot that the face scorches before the middle cooks. The second is that the temperature is the same everywhere, so the pancake at the edge cooks like the one in the middle. Read ten electric griddle listings for those two things and the first one almost disappears.

Two listings give a temperature range. Amazon Basics says “Precise temperature control from 200-400°F using the removable temperature probe”. Gourmia says “Adjustable range from 200 to 400 degrees Fahrenheit”. Both scales take in the pancake band, and on both of them 375°F sits close to the top: 175 degrees up a 200-degree scale, or seven-eighths of the way, by our arithmetic.

The other eight describe a control without a number. Presto’s three listings say the “Control Master heat control” maintains temperature automatically. Both bella listings promise an “easy-to-use dial” with “precise control”. Martha Stewart offers “Adjustable precision control”, GreenPan a “single temperature knob” and BLACK+DECKER an “adjustable temperature knob”. Not one of the eight states a low end, a high end or a single degree figure. The dials may well carry markings; the listings do not tell you what they are, so you cannot check before you buy that 375°F is on the scale.

Even heat gets claims rather than numbers too. Three listings say it in words. Presto’s 22-inch 07061 promises “even heat distribution” from heavy cast aluminum, Martha Stewart “rapid, even heating” from an embedded element, and GreenPan “balanced heating” from its coating. The other seven do not mention evenness. None gives a figure for how far the edge temperature differs from the centre.

Power is the quietest spec of all. Only two listings state a wattage, and both say 1500: the bella 10 by 20 in its title and BLACK+DECKER in a bullet. The other eight are silent. On the 200 square inches of the bella, 1500 watts works out at 7.5 watts per square inch, by our arithmetic; for the rest, there is nothing to divide.

Size, by contrast, is everywhere. Five listings give a cooking surface in two dimensions: 12 by 22 inches on the bella XL and Martha Stewart, 10.5 by 20 on the GreenPan, and 10 by 20 on the Amazon Basics and the smaller bella. Three listings, two Prestos and the Gourmia, give a single 22-inch figure. Only the two bellas turn size into a pancake count, 8 and 6 at once, and BLACK+DECKER sells an “8-serving” area without giving a surface at all.

So this guide sorts the ten by what each listing lets you know before the batter goes on: a stated temperature range, any even-heat claim, the cooking surface, how grease leaves the plate, whether the probe comes off and the plate can be washed, whether there is somewhere to keep the first batch warm, and the wattage where one is given. Coating claims are quoted word for word. Star ratings and review counts were not captured for this roundup; popularity below is Amazon’s Best Sellers Rank only.

All ten were captured on 5 October 2026, every one sold by Amazon.com and in stock. Their overall Best Sellers Ranks run from #2,541 to #25,373, and the two listings that state a temperature range sit third and ninth.

Best Sellers Ranks and specifications are taken from each manufacturer’s Amazon listing as displayed on 5 October 2026 through a United States connection, and may change. Surfaces are as each listing states them. Presto 07061, Presto 07062 and Gourmia give a single 22-inch figure with no width; the Presto Tilt ’n Drain gives no cooking-surface dimensions (its size field says 19-Inch) and BLACK+DECKER gives a serving count instead. A temperature range is marked stated only where the listing prints the figures; “Not stated” means the listing describes a dial, knob or control without degrees, not that the dial is unmarked. Grease handling lists what each listing names; Martha Stewart names a drip tray only in its dishwasher bullet. Several spec tables give overall dimensions that cannot describe the griddle (for example a 56.99-inch length on the Amazon Basics), so those are left out. Ranks are overall Best Sellers Ranks as returned on 5 October 2026; Presto Tilt ’n Drain is ranked in Griddles, the other nine in Electric Griddles. All ten were sold by Amazon.com at capture. Star ratings and review counts were not captured for any product here.

How We Chose These Ten

We researched current listings, compared manufacturer specifications and documentation, and read each listing’s claims about temperature, heat, size and cleaning line by line. We did not carry out hands-on testing, and nothing below is presented as measured performance data. Star ratings and review counts were not captured for this roundup. We used Amazon Best Sellers Rank, buy-box stock and listing specifications instead, and nothing on this page describes or implies how owners have scored these griddles.

  • Plug-in electric griddles only — every product here is a flat electric griddle with its own heating element and control. Stovetop griddles, cast iron plates and two-sided contact grills were not in the running.
  • Temperature recorded exactly as printed — a range in degrees where the listing gives one, and the words used where it does not. The pancake band of roughly 350 to 375°F used throughout is general cooking guidance, not a figure from any listing.
  • Even heat logged only as claimed — we quote the words a listing uses, such as “even heat distribution” or “balanced heating”. No listing gives a measured spread, and we do not invent one.
  • Size as stated, pancakes only where stated — cooking surfaces are reported in the listing’s own dimensions. Where we give a surface area in square inches, that is our arithmetic. Pancake counts are quoted only where the listing states them; we do not estimate batch sizes for the others.
  • Cleaning features as named — drip trays, grease channels, removable probes, immersibility and dishwasher use are logged only where the listing names them. A feature the listing does not mention is marked not stated.
  • Coating claims quoted word for word — PFAS-free, ceramic, non-toxic and similar terms are reproduced exactly, with any footnote the listing attaches.
  • Implausible fields left out — several spec tables give overall dimensions that cannot describe a griddle of the stated size, so they are not printed. Where two fields on one listing disagree, we report both.
  • Popularity from Best Sellers Rank only — ranks are quoted exactly as returned on 5 October 2026. Each product was the buy-box offer, sold by Amazon.com and in stock on that date.

The Ten Pancake Griddles in Detail

1. Amazon Basics Electric Griddle with Nonstick Ceramic Coating, 10 x 20 in, AB-203GR — Best Overall

Black rectangular electric griddle with a flat cooking plate, a grease channel along one edge and a probe control plugged into the side

One of only two listings that print a temperature range, and the only one that pairs it with a stated grease channel and a dishwasher-safe plate.

Key Specifications

Pancakes per batch Not stated; “perfect for pancakes and more”

Even-heat claim None
Grease handling Deep channels into a removable drip tray
Cleaning Detachable plate and drip tray, both dishwasher safe

Best Sellers Rank #2,873 overall; #5 in Electric Griddles

Why We Recommend It

This is the griddle on which you can find 375°F on paper. The second bullet reads: “ADJUSTABLE TEMPERATURE: Precise temperature control from 200-400°F using the removable temperature probe for accurate cooking results”. That is a low end, a high end and a unit, which eight of the ten listings on this page do not give. As general guidance, pancakes cook well at about 350 to 375°F, and both figures fall inside the stated scale. The 400°F top leaves 25 degrees of headroom above the hotter end of that band, enough to preheat a little hot and let the first ladle of batter pull the plate back down.

What the listing does not say is how even that heat is. There is no even-heat claim, no mention of the element’s shape and no wattage. A stated range tells you what the control is aiming for, not whether the corners reach it at the same moment as the centre. On a 10 by 20 inch plate, the pancakes nearest the probe socket and the ones at the far end may not cook at the same pace, and the listing gives you nothing either way. Treat the first batch as a map: put a row of small test pancakes across the plate and watch which ones brown first.

The grease system is the most fully described here. “GREASE MANAGEMENT: Deep channels direct run-off grease away from food into a removable drip tray”. For pancakes that matters less than for bacon, but on a pancake-and-bacon morning it means the fat from one end of the plate does not pool under the batter at the other. Only this listing names a channel as well as a tray.

Cleaning is the other strong point. “EASY CLEANUP: Detachable and washable plate with removable drip tray, both dishwasher safe for convenient cleaning”. A plate that lifts off the base and goes in the dishwasher is the simplest arrangement on the page; the Presto listings instead immerse the whole cast base once the control is out. The coating claim is short: “NONSTICK SURFACE: ceramic coating helps ensure effortless food release and easy cleaning for lasting performance”. Unlike six others here, the listing makes no PFAS-free claim; it simply does not address it.

The size is the standard family size. “LARGE COOKING AREA: Electric griddle features a spacious 10 x 20 inch flat cooking surface perfect for pancakes and more”. That is 200 square inches, by our arithmetic, the same as the bella 10 by 20, which states 6 pancakes at once. Amazon Basics gives no pancake count of its own. The spec table gives a 4.01-pound weight and a length of 56.99 inches, which cannot describe a 20-inch griddle and is left out of the comparison.

What to weigh. It is sold by Amazon.com, released on 17 November 2025, and already ranks #2,873 overall and #5 in Electric Griddles, third on the page. No warranty and no wattage are stated. If you want to know before buying that 375°F is on the dial, this and the Gourmia are the only two listings that tell you; this one adds a grease channel, a dishwasher-safe plate and a stated removable probe.

Pros

  • 200–400°F stated; pancake band inside it
  • Removable temperature probe, stated
  • Deep grease channels plus removable drip tray
  • Plate and drip tray dishwasher safe
  • 10 x 20 in surface
  • Third-best rank here, sold by Amazon.com

Cons

  • No even-heat claim
  • Wattage not stated
  • No PFAS claim for the ceramic coating
  • No warming tray
  • No pancake count stated
  • Spec-table length not credible

Best for: A pancake cook who wants a numbered temperature scale, a lift-off dishwasher-safe plate and grease kept away from the batter.

2. Presto 07061 22-Inch Electric Ceramic Griddle — Best XL Electric Griddle

Large black electric griddle with a long flat cooking surface, side handles and a heat control plugged into the front

The best-selling griddle on the page claims even heat and holds its temperature automatically, but never says what that temperature can be.

Key Specifications

Cooking surface 22-inch, stated; width not stated
Pancakes per batch Not stated
Temperature range Not stated
Control Control Master heat control; maintains temperature automatically
Even-heat claim “even heat distribution”, stated
Grease handling Slide-out drip tray
Cleaning Fully immersible when the heat control is detached
Warming tray Not stated
Wattage Not stated
Coating “PFAS-free ceramic coating with a textured surface”
Warranty 1 year limited
Best Sellers Rank #2,541 overall; #3 in Electric Griddles

Why We Recommend It

This is the most popular griddle here, and it sells on control rather than on numbers. “PRECISION TEMPERATURE CONTROL: The Control Master heat control system maintains your desired cooking temperature automatically, ensuring consistent results every time you use your nonstick electric griddle”. A control that holds a setting is exactly what a pancake batch needs: when cold batter lands, the plate drops, and a thermostat that brings it back quickly keeps the second row cooking like the first. What the listing does not give is the scale. There is no low end, no high end, no degree mark. You cannot confirm from the page that 375°F is a setting.

It is one of three listings that claim even heat. The last bullet reads “Crafted from heavy cast aluminum, this electric griddle is built to last, offering long-lasting durability and even heat distribution”, and an earlier one calls the base “virtually warp-proof”. Cast aluminium is a good conductor and a thick casting spreads heat sideways, which is the physical basis for the claim. It is still a claim; no figure is given for how much the ends differ from the middle on a 22-inch plate.

The size is given in one dimension. “EXTRA-LARGE COOKING SURFACE: This 22-inch electric griddle offers an expansive cooking area, perfect for preparing meals for the entire family”. The listing gives no width, and no pancake count. The spec table’s dimensions are 4.53 by 10.33 by 0.98 inches, which cannot describe a 22-inch griddle, so they are left out. For an XL electric griddle the length is the headline, but the width decides how many rows of pancakes fit, and this listing leaves you to find it on the box.

Cleaning is cast-base style. “EASY TO CLEAN: The slide-out drip tray collects excess grease and removes easily for quick and hassle-free cleanups. Plus, the heavy cast aluminum base is virtually warp-proof and fully immersible when the heat control is detached”. The plate does not lift off a base; the whole griddle goes in the sink once the control is out. The handles come off too: “detachable handles, allowing the XL griddle to fit in most standard 18-inch cabinets”. The coating is described as “a PFAS-free ceramic coating with a textured surface, providing superior nonstick performance”.

What to weigh. It is sold by Amazon.com and ranks #2,541 overall and #3 in Electric Griddles, the best on the page. It lists 5.7 pounds and a 1 year limited warranty, one of three griddles here with a stated warranty and all three of them Prestos. No wattage is stated. Buy it for the automatic temperature hold, the even-heat claim and the immersible base, and check the dial markings in the box for 375°F.

Pros

  • Best rank here: #2,541 overall
  • Control Master holds temperature automatically, stated
  • Even heat distribution claimed; heavy cast aluminum
  • Slide-out drip tray
  • Fully immersible with the control detached
  • 1 year limited warranty; PFAS-free ceramic stated

Cons

  • No temperature range stated
  • Width and pancake count not stated
  • Wattage not stated
  • No warming tray
  • Spec-table dimensions not credible
  • Plate does not lift off for the dishwasher

Best for: A family cook who wants an XL electric griddle with a thermostat that holds its setting and a base that goes straight in the sink.

3. bella XL 12 x 22 Electric Ceramic Titanium Non-Toxic Griddle, Copper/Black, 14648 — Best Family Size

Copper-coloured rectangular electric griddle with a dark cooking surface, cool-touch handles and a warming tray beneath

The only XL listing that turns its size into pancakes, 8 at once, and adds a warming tray for the first batch.

Key Specifications

Cooking surface 12 x 22 in, stated (264 sq in, our arithmetic)
Pancakes per batch Up to 8, stated; up to 15 eggs
Temperature range Not stated
Control Removable temperature control probe with dial
Even-heat claim None
Grease handling Not stated
Cleaning Warming tray dishwasher safe; griddle not stated
Warming tray Electric warming tray, BPA-free, stated
Wattage Not stated
Coating “EverGood Non-Toxic* Ceramic Nonstick Coating”
Listed weight 3.96 pounds
Best Sellers Rank #2,685 overall; #4 in Electric Griddles

Why We Recommend It

This is the one listing that tells a family how many pancakes an XL plate holds. “COOK FOR A CROWD: The generous 12” x 22” cooking surface lets you cook up to 15 eggs or 8 pancakes at once, making it perfect for feeding the whole family quickly”. Eight is a stated number, not our estimate. On 264 square inches, by our arithmetic, that is a generous spacing of about 33 square inches per pancake, which suggests full-sized pancakes with room to flip rather than silver-dollar rows. Martha Stewart sells the same 12 by 22 inch outline and does not give a pancake count.

The warming tray solves the family-breakfast problem. “WARMING TRAY KEEPS FOOD READY: Serve your meals hot and fresh! The BPA-free, dishwasher-safe electric warming tray keeps cooked food ready to serve”. If eight pancakes are one batch and the family eats sixteen, the first eight need somewhere to wait. Four griddles here offer a warming tray or drawer; this is the only one that calls it electric. The listing does not say how warm it runs or whether it has its own control.

The temperature control is a probe and a dial, without a scale. “PRECISION COOKING WITH REMOVABLE TEMP PROBE: Achieve perfect results every time with the removable temperature control probe. The easy-to-use dial gives you precise control”. “Precise” is not a range. There is no low or high figure, and no even-heat claim. For a family size electric griddle that is the one gap in an otherwise clear listing: you know how many pancakes fit, but not what temperature you can set them at.

The coating claim comes with a footnote. “EverGood Non-Toxic* Ceramic Nonstick Coating for easy food release and cleanup”, and then: “*‘Non-toxic’ refers to ceramic coating materials made without PFAS, PTFE, PFOA, lead or cadmium”. The title adds “Ceramic Titanium”, which the bullets do not explain. The copy also calls the griddle a “stovetop griddle” and an “indoor smokeless grill and breakfast station”; it is a plug-in griddle with its own probe, so read those as loose marketing, and never put an electric griddle on a hob.

What to weigh. It is sold by Amazon.com and ranks #2,685 overall and #4 in Electric Griddles, second on the page. The listing names no drip tray, no grease channel, no wattage and no warranty, and does not say whether the griddle itself is dishwasher safe or immersible. At 3.96 pounds it is the lightest listed weight on the page. Buy it for the stated 8 pancakes and the electric warming tray; the Gourmia or Amazon Basics state a temperature range if that matters more.

Pros

  • Up to 8 pancakes at once, stated
  • 12 x 22 in surface
  • Electric warming tray, BPA-free and dishwasher safe
  • Removable probe with dial
  • Coating footnote lists PFAS, PTFE, PFOA, lead, cadmium
  • Second-best rank here; 3.96 lb

Cons

  • No temperature range stated
  • No even-heat claim
  • No drip tray or grease channel named
  • Griddle washing method not stated
  • Wattage and warranty not stated
  • “Stovetop” wording is misleading

Best for: A family that wants a stated 8-pancake batch on an XL plate and a warming tray to hold the first round.

4. Gourmia Electric Griddle, 22-Inch XL Nonstick Ceramic Cooking Surface, Black, GEG1425 — Best XL With a Stated Range

Slim grey electric griddle with a long flat ceramic cooking surface and no side handles

The only 22-inch griddle on the page that prints its temperature scale, 200 to 400 degrees.

Key Specifications

Cooking surface 22-inch, stated; width not stated
Pancakes per batch Not stated
Temperature range 200 to 400°F, stated
Control “user-friendly controls”; probe not stated
Even-heat claim None
Grease handling Pull-out drip tray
Cleaning Immersion and dishwasher use not stated
Warming tray Not stated
Wattage Not stated
Coating “Ceramic, flat top non-stick surface”
Listed weight 6.0 pounds
Best Sellers Rank #20,026 overall; #19 in Electric Griddles

Why We Recommend It

If you want an XL electric griddle and a printed scale, this is the only listing that offers both. “Precision Temperature Control – Adjustable range from 200 to 400 degrees Fahrenheit for flexible cooking across breakfast lunch and dinner”. Same scale as the Amazon Basics, on a longer plate: “Extra-large 22-inch cooking surface lets you prepare meals for the whole family quickly and efficiently”. The pancake band of roughly 350 to 375°F sits inside it, close to the top, as on the Amazon Basics.

It says less about how that temperature is set. The listing mentions “user-friendly controls” and stops there. It does not say whether the control is a removable probe, a fixed knob or a digital panel, and it gives no wattage. Because the listing does not say the control comes off, it also does not say whether the griddle can be immersed or put in a dishwasher. Those are not small gaps for a 22-inch plate that has to be cleaned somewhere.

The grease and coating claims are brief. “Healthier Meals Less Mess – Ceramic, flat top non-stick surface and pull-out drip tray make cleanup easy”. That names a drip tray and a ceramic surface. It does not make a PFAS-free or non-toxic claim of any kind, one of four listings here that do not. There is no even-heat claim.

It is built for the cupboard. “Streamlined for Storage – Slim profile with a sleek handle-free design fits neatly into cabinets for hassle-free storage”. The spec table gives 23 by 12 by 3 inches overall, which is plausible for a 22-inch plate, and 6.0 pounds. Handle-free means nothing to grip when moving it hot; plan to let it cool before you lift it.

What to weigh. It is sold by Amazon.com and ranks #20,026 overall and #19 in Electric Griddles, ninth on the page. No warranty is stated. Of the four 22-inch listings, the three Prestos claim automatic temperature control and immersible bases and give no scale; this one gives the scale and none of the rest. Buy it if a printed 200 to 400 degree range on an XL plate matters most.

Pros

  • 200 to 400°F stated, the only XL with a range
  • 22-inch cooking surface
  • Pull-out drip tray
  • Ceramic non-stick surface stated
  • Slim, handle-free design for storage
  • Sold by Amazon.com

Cons

  • Control type not stated
  • Immersion and dishwasher use not stated
  • No PFAS or non-toxic claim
  • No even-heat claim
  • Width, wattage and pancake count not stated
  • #20,026 overall, ninth here

Best for: A buyer who wants an XL electric griddle with a printed temperature range and will clean it by wiping rather than soaking.

5. Presto 07046 Tilt ’n Drain Big Griddle Cool-Touch Electric Griddle — Best for Pancakes and Bacon

Black electric griddle with a raised back ledge and a cool-touch base around the front and sides

The only griddle here that names pancakes as a reason to keep the plate level, and tilts for bacon.

Key Specifications

Cooking surface Not stated; “Huge cooking area”; size field 19-Inch
Batch stated Up to 12 slices of French toast; pancakes not counted
Temperature range Not stated
Control Control Master heat control; maintains temperature automatically
Even-heat claim None
Grease handling Tilts to drain; slide-out drip tray
Cleaning Fully immersible with the heat control removed
Warming tray Not stated
Wattage Not stated
Coating “Ceramic nonstick cooking surface—PFAS free”
Warranty 1 year Limited Warranty
Best Sellers Rank #7,596 overall; #12 in Griddles

Why We Recommend It

This listing names the pancake problem outright. “Adjusts from a level cooking surface for pancakes to a tilted draining surface for meats”. Batter runs downhill, so a pancake griddle has to be level; bacon and sausage want the opposite, a slope that carries fat away. The Tilt ’n Drain does both, which no other griddle here claims. On a breakfast that is both, that means cooking the bacon tilted first, levelling the plate and then pouring the batter.

The capacity is given in French toast, and the size not at all. “Huge cooking area holds up to 12 slices of French toast at a time”. That is a stated batch, and a useful one for breakfast, but it is not a pancake count and we do not convert it into one. The listing gives no cooking-surface dimensions. The size field reads “19-Inch” and the spec table gives 23.94 by 18.5 by 5.12 inches, which does not say which way is which; neither is a cooking surface.

Control is Presto’s automatic thermostat, with no scale. “Control Master heat control maintains cooking temperatures automatically”. As on the 07061, the listing states no range, no low end and no high end, and makes no even-heat claim. You will be finding 375°F from the dial in the box.

The details are about safety and handling. “Cool-touch base surrounds the front and both sides” and a “Backstop ledge for easy food handling”, which gives a spatula something to push a pancake against as you slide under it. Cleaning is Presto’s usual pairing: “Fully immersible with the heat control removed” and a “Slide-out drip tray for quick cleanups”. The coating is “Ceramic nonstick cooking surface—PFAS free”.

What to weigh. It is sold by Amazon.com and ranks #7,596 overall and #12 in Griddles, the only one of the ten Amazon files under Griddles rather than Electric Griddles. It lists 7.0 pounds, the heaviest here, and a 1 year Limited Warranty. No wattage is stated. Buy it if bacon and pancakes share the same plate most mornings.

Pros

  • Level for pancakes, tilted for meats, stated
  • Up to 12 slices of French toast, stated
  • Control Master holds temperature automatically
  • Slide-out drip tray; fully immersible
  • Cool-touch base on front and sides; backstop ledge
  • 1 year Limited Warranty; PFAS free ceramic stated

Cons

  • No cooking-surface dimensions
  • No temperature range stated
  • No pancake count
  • No even-heat claim
  • Wattage not stated
  • 7.0 lb, the heaviest here

Best for: A breakfast cook who does bacon and pancakes together and wants the plate to tilt for one and sit level for the other.

6. bella 10 x 20 Ceramic Griddle with Warming Tray, 1500W Non-Toxic, Oatmilk, 35113 — Best Stated Wattage

Cream-coloured electric griddle with a dark cooking surface, a raised back ledge and a warming tray underneath

One of two listings that state a wattage, and one of two that count pancakes, 6 at once on 200 square inches.

Key Specifications

Cooking surface 10 x 20 in, stated (200 sq in, our arithmetic)
Pancakes per batch Up to 6, stated; up to 10 eggs
Temperature range Not stated
Control Removable temperature probe with dial
Even-heat claim None
Grease handling Not stated
Cleaning Not stated
Warming tray Named in the title; not described in the bullets
Wattage 1500W, stated
Coating “EverGood Non-Toxic* Ceramic Nonstick Coating”
Listed weight 5.51 pounds
Best Sellers Rank #5,517 overall; #8 in Electric Griddles

Why We Recommend It

This is the only family-size listing here that gives both a power figure and a pancake count. The title says “1500W”, and the first bullet says “The spacious 10” x 20” cooking surface of this electric grill lets you cook up to 10 eggs or 6 pancakes at once”. Spread over 200 square inches, 1500 watts is 7.5 watts per square inch, by our arithmetic. BLACK+DECKER also states 1500 watts but gives no surface to divide it by, so this is the only power density on the page that can be worked out.

Why the wattage matters for pancakes. When a ladle of cold batter goes on, it pulls heat out of the plate. The element has to put it back, and how fast it can depends on its power. A listing that states 1500 watts on a 10 by 20 inch plate tells you the most about recovery between batches of any griddle here. It does not tell you how evenly that power is spread, and there is no even-heat claim.

The control, like the bella XL’s, has no scale. “REMOVEABLE TEMP PROBE FOR PRECISION: Achieve perfect cooking every time with the removable temperature probe of bella’s griddle pan. The easy-to-use dial allows precise control”. No low end, no high end. You know the power and the pancake count; you do not know from the page whether 375°F is marked.

The flip gets help. “FLIPPIN’ PERFECT: No more messy flips! The built-in ledge with backstop on the base of this stove top griddle makes flipping pancakes, eggs, and more a breeze”. A backstop gives the spatula something to work against; the Presto Tilt ’n Drain has one too. The coating carries bella’s footnote: “*‘Non-toxic’ refers to ceramic coating materials made without PFAS, PTFE, PFOA, lead or cadmium”. The copy calls it a “stove top griddle” and a “portable stove top”; it is a plug-in griddle, not for a hob.

What to weigh. It is sold by Amazon.com and ranks #5,517 overall and #8 in Electric Griddles. The title says “with Warming Tray” and the colour field says “Oatmilk + Tray”, but no bullet describes the tray. No drip tray, grease channel, cleaning method or warranty is stated. Buy it for the stated 1500 watts and 6 pancakes, and confirm the tray in the box.

Pros

  • 1500W stated; 7.5 W per sq in by our arithmetic
  • Up to 6 pancakes at once, stated
  • Removable probe with dial
  • Built-in ledge with backstop for flipping
  • Coating footnote lists PFAS, PTFE, PFOA, lead, cadmium
  • Warming tray named in title

Cons

  • No temperature range stated
  • No even-heat claim
  • Warming tray not described
  • No drip tray or grease channel named
  • Cleaning method and warranty not stated
  • “Stove top” wording is misleading

Best for: A family cook who wants a stated 1500 watts behind a 10 x 20 inch plate and a stated 6-pancake batch.

7. Presto 07062 22-Inch Ceramic Electric Griddle with Removable Handles — Simplest XL

Black and grey 22-inch electric griddle with removable side handles and a heat control at the front

Presto’s 22-inch plate again, with fewer stated features: no drip tray named and no even-heat claim.

Key Specifications

Cooking surface 22 Inch, stated; width not stated
Pancakes per batch Not stated
Temperature range Not stated
Control Control Master heat control; maintains desired temperature
Even-heat claim None
Grease handling Not stated
Cleaning Fully immersible with the heat control removed
Warming tray Not stated
Wattage Not stated
Coating “Special textured ceramic cooking surface”
Overall size 26.12 x 13.47 x 2.87 in
Best Sellers Rank #6,750 overall; #9 in Electric Griddles

Why We Recommend It

This is the plainest of the three Presto listings. Six short bullets: “Extra-large griddle-great for every meal and entertaining”, a textured ceramic surface, removable handles, the Control Master, a warp-proof cast base and immersibility. It shares the 07061’s 22-inch size, its 5.7-pound weight and its 1 year limited warranty. What it leaves out is telling.

It names no drip tray and claims no even heat. The 07061 lists a slide-out drip tray and “even heat distribution”. This listing mentions neither. It says “Heavy cast aluminum griddle is virtually warp-proof”, which is the same casting claim, so it may heat the same way, but the listing does not say so. Without a named drip tray, plan for grease to stay on the plate or run to the edge, and wipe it up as you go.

The control is the same, and the scale is equally absent. “Control Master heat control maintains desired cooking temperature”. No range, no figures. Like every Presto here, it holds whatever you set; the listing never tells you what you can set.

The coating claim is different from its siblings’. “Special textured ceramic cooking surface provides enhanced nonstick performance and easier cleaning”. The 07061 and the Tilt ’n Drain both say PFAS free; this listing does not use the term. The spec table’s 26.12 by 13.47 by 2.87 inches is a plausible outline for a 22-inch plate with handles, so the cooking width is likely under 13 inches, but the listing does not give it. The number-of-items field reads 3, which may count the griddle and two handles; the listing does not say.

What to weigh. It is sold by Amazon.com and ranks #6,750 overall and #9 in Electric Griddles. “Removable handles for easy cleaning and compact storage” and “Fully immersible with the heat control removed” make it easy to wash and store. No wattage is stated. If the drip tray and the even-heat claim matter, the 07061 states both.

Pros

  • 22-inch cast aluminum plate
  • Control Master maintains desired temperature
  • Fully immersible with the control removed
  • Removable handles for storage
  • Textured ceramic surface stated
  • 1 year limited warranty

Cons

  • No temperature range stated
  • No drip tray named
  • No even-heat claim
  • No PFAS claim, unlike its siblings
  • Width and wattage not stated
  • Pancake count not stated

Best for: A buyer who wants a Presto 22-inch plate that stores flat and washes in the sink, and does not need a drip tray.

8. Martha Stewart 12 x 22 XL Electric Griddle, Ceramic Nonstick Flat Top, CC010838-001 — Best Dishwasher-Safe XL

Dark grey extra-large electric griddle with a flat ceramic surface and a temperature dial on a probe at one end

An even-heating claim and a dishwasher-safe XL plate, with a probe the listing calls both built-in and detachable.

Key Specifications

Cooking surface 22 x 12 in, stated (264 sq in, our arithmetic)
Pancakes per batch Not counted; “multiple pancakes, up to 15 eggs”
Temperature range Not stated
Control Dial; probe “built-in” in one bullet, detachable in another
Even-heat claim “rapid, even heating”, stated
Grease handling Drip tray, named in the cleaning bullet
Cleaning Griddle and drip tray dishwasher safe; detach probe first
Warming tray Not stated
Wattage Not stated
Coating “PFAS-FREE CERAMIC NONSTICK”
Released 11 March 2026
Best Sellers Rank #7,682 overall; #10 in Electric Griddles

Why We Recommend It

This is the only listing that names an embedded element, and one of two XL plates that claim even heat. “EMBEDDED HEATING ELEMENT: The built-in temperature probe delivers rapid, even heating for consistent, precise results”. An element cast into the plate, rather than sitting under it, is one common way makers try to reduce hot spots across a long griddle. On a 22 by 12 inch surface, the same outline as the bella XL, evenness is the thing that decides whether the pancakes at the ends cook like the ones in the middle. The listing claims it; it gives no figure.

Two bullets disagree about the probe. The heating bullet calls it “The built-in temperature probe”. The cleaning bullet says “The griddle and drip tray are dishwasher safe for an easy cleanup – just detach the temperature probe first”. Both cannot be literally true. The likeliest reading is a detachable probe feeding an embedded element, which is the usual design, but the listing does not reconcile the two. We report both.

The dial has no stated scale. “EASY-TO-USE DIAL: Adjustable precision control allows you to quickly set the right temperature for any meal”. “The right temperature” is the phrase a pancake cook wants a number for, and the listing does not give one. No range, no figures.

The size is clear, the pancake count is not. “EXTRA-LARGE COOKING SURFACE: 22 x 12 inches of room lets you prepare multiple pancakes, up to 15 eggs, grilled cheeses, steaks, fajitas, and more all at once”. Fifteen eggs is the same figure the bella XL gives on the same outline, and bella also says 8 pancakes. Martha Stewart says only “multiple”; we do not borrow bella’s number for it. The coating claim is “PFAS-FREE CERAMIC NONSTICK: Nonstick coating ensures food releases effortlessly and cleanup is simple”.

What to weigh. It is sold by Amazon.com, released on 11 March 2026, and ranks #7,682 overall and #10 in Electric Griddles. No weight, wattage or warranty is stated, and no warming tray. Of the two 12 by 22 inch plates here, this is the one that claims even heat and a dishwasher-safe griddle; the bella XL is the one that counts pancakes and keeps them warm.

Pros

  • Rapid, even heating claimed; embedded element
  • 22 x 12 in surface
  • Griddle and drip tray dishwasher safe
  • PFAS-free ceramic nonstick stated
  • Adjustable dial
  • Up to 15 eggs, stated

Cons

  • No temperature range stated
  • Probe called built-in and detachable
  • No pancake count
  • Weight and wattage not stated
  • No warming tray
  • No warranty stated

Best for: A family cook who wants an XL plate with an even-heating claim that goes in the dishwasher once the probe is out.

9. GreenPan Advanced 10.5 x 20 Electric Griddle with Warming Drawer, Clay, CC008794-001 — Best Warming Drawer

Clay-coloured electric griddle with a flat ceramic cooking surface, a single control knob and a drawer beneath

A balanced-heating claim, a removable warming drawer and a single knob that never states a degree.

Key Specifications

Cooking surface 10.5 x 20 in, stated (210 sq in, our arithmetic)
Pancakes per batch Not stated
Temperature range Not stated
Control Single temperature knob; probe referred to in cleaning bullet
Even-heat claim “balanced heating”, attributed to the coating
Grease handling Not stated
Cleaning Dishwasher safe without the probe; hand wash recommended
Warming tray Removable warming drawer, stated
Wattage Not stated
Coating “PFAS-free* ceramic nonstick”; *made without intentionally added PFAS
Overall size 24.21 x 12.87 x 4.92 in
Best Sellers Rank #5,992 overall; #27 in Electric Griddles

Why We Recommend It

The size sits between the standard and the XL. “SPACIOUS SIZE: 10.5”x 20” cooking surface gives you plenty of room to craft large, family-sized feasts”. At 210 square inches, by our arithmetic, it is 10 square inches more than the two 10 by 20 plates and 54 fewer than the two 12 by 22s. The listing calls it “Your countertop solution for family-sized meals, featuring an extra-large cooking surface”, and names pancakes first in its list of uses, but gives no pancake count.

The even-heat claim rides on the coating. “PFAS-FREE* CERAMIC NONSTICK: GreenPan’s PFAS-free ceramic nonstick delivers remarkable durability, balanced heating, and effortless cleanup. *Nonstick coating is made without intentionally added PFAS”. A coating is a thin layer; how evenly a griddle heats depends mostly on the plate and the element beneath it, which the listing does not describe. So read “balanced heating” as a claim about the product, not an explanation of it. The footnote is also worth reading closely: “made without intentionally added PFAS” is a narrower promise than a flat “PFAS-free”.

The control is a knob without numbers. “SIMPLE TEMPERATURE CONTROL: The single temperature knob allows you to easily dial in your preferred heat”. “Your preferred heat” is not a range. The cleaning bullet says “Wipe clean or place the griddle in the dishwasher without the probe. Hand wash recommended.”, which implies the knob sits on a detachable probe, though the control bullet does not say so. Dishwasher allowed, hand wash recommended: plan on the sink.

The drawer is the feature. “REMOVABLE WARMING DRAWER: Keeps your food hot and ready until you’re done cooking”. For pancakes made in rounds, a drawer under the plate keeps the first batch soft while the next cooks. The listing does not say how warm it runs or whether it is heated separately. No drip tray or grease channel is named.

What to weigh. It is sold by Amazon.com and ranks #5,992 overall but only #27 in Electric Griddles; Amazon’s category and overall ranks are measured against different sets of products. The spec table gives an overall 24.21 by 12.87 by 4.92 inches. No weight, wattage or warranty is stated. Buy it for the drawer and the slightly larger plate; buy a listing with a range if you want to know where 375°F is.

Pros

  • 10.5 x 20 in, 210 sq in by our arithmetic
  • Balanced heating claimed
  • Removable warming drawer
  • PFAS-free ceramic, footnoted
  • Dishwasher safe without the probe
  • Sold by Amazon.com

Cons

  • No temperature range stated
  • Single knob, no figures
  • Hand wash recommended despite dishwasher claim
  • No drip tray or grease channel named
  • Weight, wattage and warranty not stated
  • #27 in Electric Griddles

Best for: A family cook who makes pancakes in rounds and wants a drawer under the plate to keep the first batch warm.

10. BLACK+DECKER 8-Serving Electric Griddle, GD2051B, Warming Tray, Removable Drip Tray — Best Tray Pairing

Black electric griddle with a flat non-stick surface, a slide-out tray beneath and a probe control at one side

A stated 1500 watts, a warming tray and a drip tray, on a cooking surface the listing never measures.

Key Specifications

Cooking surface Not stated; “8-serving cooking area”
Pancakes per batch Not stated
Temperature range Not stated
Control Click & Lock Thermostat; removable probe with adjustable knob
Even-heat claim None
Grease handling Removable drip tray
Cleaning Not stated beyond the drip tray
Warming tray Built-in slide-out warming tray, stated
Wattage 1500 watts, stated
Coating “durable non-stick cooking surface”; type not stated
Overall size 22.0 x 13.0 x 3.5 in
Best Sellers Rank #25,373 overall; #25 in Electric Griddles

Why We Recommend It

This is the only listing that pairs a warming tray with a drip tray. “Built-In Warming Tray – The slide-out warming tray lets you have everything hot and ready for serving. Just move cooked foods into the tray while you prepare the rest on the griddle surface.” And: “Removable Drip Tray – Excess grease and fat drain into the removable tray for easy disposal.” The bella XL and GreenPan have somewhere to keep food warm but name no drip tray; the Prestos, Gourmia and Amazon Basics name a drip tray but nowhere to keep food warm. For a pancake-and-bacon breakfast, this is the one listing that names both.

It states its power. The thermostat bullet ends “Wattage Output: 1500 watts”. That matches the bella 10 by 20, the only other listing here with a wattage. What it does not give is a surface to set it against, so watts per square inch cannot be worked out.

Size comes as servings. “Extra-Large Capacity – Cook for the whole family! The 8-serving cooking area offers griddle surface for all your breakfast favorites.” Eight servings is not a dimension, and it is not a pancake count either: a serving of pancakes might be two or three. The spec table gives 22.0 by 13.0 by 3.5 inches overall, a plausible outline, but that includes the rim and the tray housing. The title calls it “Family Sized”; the listing leaves you to measure.

The control is a probe, with no scale. “Click & Lock Thermostat – The removable probe features an adjustable temperature knob, providing the ideal heat for every cooking task.” “The ideal heat” is not a figure. No range is stated, and no even-heat claim. The coating is described only as a “durable non-stick cooking surface”; it is the one listing here that does not say ceramic and makes no PFAS claim.

What to weigh. It is sold by Amazon.com and ranks #25,373 overall and #25 in Electric Griddles, the lowest overall rank on the page. It lists 4.96 pounds. The warranty field reads only “Warranty”, which states nothing. The listing does not say whether the griddle is immersible or dishwasher safe. Buy it for the warming-and-drip pairing and the stated 1500 watts, and ask for the cooking surface first.

Pros

  • Warming tray and drip tray both stated
  • 1500 watts stated
  • Removable probe with Click & Lock thermostat
  • 8-serving cooking area
  • 22.0 x 13.0 x 3.5 in overall
  • Sold by Amazon.com

Cons

  • No cooking-surface dimensions
  • No temperature range stated
  • Coating type and PFAS status not stated
  • No even-heat claim
  • Immersion and dishwasher use not stated
  • Lowest rank here, #25,373

Best for: A breakfast cook who wants a warming tray and a drip tray on one griddle, and a stated 1500 watts behind them.

Where 375°F Sits on Each Listing

As general guidance, most pancake recipes ask for a griddle at about 350 to 375°F. Lower and the pancakes dry out before they brown; higher and the faces scorch while the centres stay raw. That band is not a figure from any listing. The question for each griddle is whether its listing lets you confirm, before you buy, that the band is on the dial.

Griddle Range stated Control as described Holds temperature Where 375°F sits (ours)
Amazon Basics 200–400°F Removable temperature probe Not stated 87.5% up the scale; 25°F below the top
Gourmia 200–400°F “user-friendly controls” Not stated 87.5% up the scale; 25°F below the top
Presto 07061 Not stated Control Master heat control Automatically, stated Cannot be placed
Presto Tilt ’n Drain Not stated Control Master heat control Automatically, stated Cannot be placed
Presto 07062 Not stated Control Master heat control “maintains desired cooking temperature” Cannot be placed
bella XL 12 x 22 Not stated Removable probe, dial Not stated Cannot be placed
bella 10 x 20 Not stated Removable probe, dial Not stated Cannot be placed
Martha Stewart Not stated Dial; probe built-in or detachable Not stated Cannot be placed
GreenPan Not stated Single temperature knob Not stated Cannot be placed
BLACK+DECKER Not stated Click & Lock removable probe Not stated Cannot be placed

Two scales, both the same. Amazon Basics and Gourmia both state 200 to 400°F. The pancake band sits in the top quarter: 350°F is 75% of the way up and 375°F is 87.5%, by our arithmetic. That leaves 25 degrees of headroom above the hotter end of the band. It is enough to preheat a little hot and let the first batch of batter pull the plate down into range, which is how many cooks run a griddle anyway. It also means a dial set near the top for pancakes is normal on these two, not a sign the griddle is struggling.

Three Prestos claim to hold a temperature without saying which ones. All three use the “Control Master heat control”, and two say it maintains temperature “automatically”. Holding a setting matters more for pancakes than most foods: every ladle of batter cools the plate, and a griddle that recovers quickly cooks the second row like the first. But none of the three listings states a range. They may be marked in degrees on the dial; the listings do not say.

Five more describe a dial, knob or probe and nothing else. The bellas promise “precise control”, Martha Stewart “Adjustable precision control”, GreenPan “your preferred heat” and BLACK+DECKER “the ideal heat for every cooking task”. Precise, adjustable, preferred and ideal are all words for a number the listing does not print.

A stated range is a setting, not a surface reading. Even the two listings that print 200 to 400°F do not say that the plate reaches that temperature everywhere, or how closely it holds it. The probe senses the plate near where it plugs in. The practical answer, for any griddle on this page, is a surface thermometer or a test pancake: a few drops of water should dance and skitter, not sit and steam or vanish instantly, and a small pancake should brown in about two minutes a side.

Small pancakes arranged around a cup of tea
Each ladle of cold batter cools the plate; two listings here state the 1500 watts that puts heat back.

Even Heat: Three Claims, No Numbers

Evenness is the second half of a pancake griddle. A plate that runs hot in the middle and cool at the ends gives you a row of pancakes in three shades. Here is what each listing says about it, in its own words, alongside the wattage where one is given.

Griddle Even-heat claim Construction named Wattage
Presto 07061 “even heat distribution” Heavy cast aluminum Not stated
Martha Stewart “rapid, even heating” Embedded heating element Not stated
GreenPan “balanced heating” Ceramic coating (claim attached to it) Not stated
Presto 07062 None Heavy cast aluminum Not stated
Presto Tilt ’n Drain None Not stated Not stated
bella 10 x 20 None Not stated 1500W
BLACK+DECKER None Not stated 1500 watts
Amazon Basics None Detachable plate Not stated
bella XL 12 x 22 None Not stated Not stated
Gourmia None Not stated Not stated

The three claims rest on three different things. Presto ties even heat to heavy cast aluminium, a material that conducts heat well and, in a thick casting, spreads it sideways from the element. Martha Stewart ties it to an element embedded in the plate. GreenPan ties “balanced heating” to its coating, which is the weakest link of the three, since a thin ceramic layer does little to move heat across a plate. None of the three gives a measured temperature spread, and we have not measured one.

Only two listings state power. The bella 10 by 20 and BLACK+DECKER both say 1500 watts. On the bella’s 200 square inches that is 7.5 watts per square inch, by our arithmetic. BLACK+DECKER gives no surface, so its figure cannot be set against area. Power is what puts heat back after cold batter lands, so for pancakes made in rounds it is a useful number; eight of these listings simply do not give it.

Size makes evenness harder. A 22-inch plate has further to carry heat from the element to its ends than a 20-inch one. Of the five listings with a 22-inch length, Presto 07061 and Martha Stewart claim even heat; the bella XL, Gourmia and Presto 07062 do not. If you are buying an XL electric griddle for pancakes, an even-heat claim is worth more on a long plate than on a short one, and still worth checking with a test batch.

Pancakes per Batch: Two Counts and a Lot of Area

A family size electric griddle is bought to cook breakfast in one or two rounds rather than five. Only two listings turn their surface into a pancake count. Everything else is dimensions, a serving count or an adjective.

Griddle Surface as stated Area (ours) Batch as stated
bella XL 12 x 22 12 x 22 in 264 sq in Up to 8 pancakes or 15 eggs
Martha Stewart 22 x 12 in 264 sq in “multiple pancakes, up to 15 eggs”
GreenPan 10.5 x 20 in 210 sq in Not stated
Amazon Basics 10 x 20 in 200 sq in Not stated
bella 10 x 20 10 x 20 in 200 sq in Up to 6 pancakes or 10 eggs
Presto 07061 22-inch Cannot be worked out Not stated
Presto 07062 22 Inch Cannot be worked out Not stated
Gourmia 22-inch Cannot be worked out Not stated
Presto Tilt ’n Drain Not stated Cannot be worked out Up to 12 slices of French toast
BLACK+DECKER Not stated Cannot be worked out “8-serving cooking area”

bella’s two counts agree with each other. Eight pancakes on 264 square inches and six on 200 both work out at about 33 square inches per pancake, by our arithmetic. That is a consistent spacing, which suggests both figures come from the same idea of a full-sized pancake with room around it. It also tells you that bella’s counts are not optimistic squeezes; smaller pancakes, or tighter spacing, would fit more.

We do not extend those counts to other griddles. Martha Stewart has the same 12 by 22 inch outline and gives the same 15-egg figure, but says only “multiple pancakes”. Amazon Basics has the same 10 by 20 surface as the smaller bella and gives no count. It would be easy to borrow bella’s numbers for them; the listings do not state them, so we leave them out. What the areas do show is relative size: the two 12 by 22 plates have 32% more surface than the two 10 by 20s, by our arithmetic.

Single-figure sizes hide the width. Three listings give 22 inches and nothing else. Length decides how many pancakes fit in a row; width decides how many rows. Presto 07062’s spec table gives an overall width of 13.47 inches including the rim, and Gourmia’s 12 inches overall, so their cooking widths are likely less, but neither listing says by how much.

Grease, Probes and the Sink

Pancakes leave little grease, but a pancake griddle rarely cooks only pancakes. Bacon and sausage share the plate, and then the griddle has to be cleaned. Here is what each listing names.

Griddle Drip tray or channel Removable control Immersible or dishwasher Warming tray
Amazon Basics Deep channels + removable drip tray Removable probe Plate and drip tray dishwasher safe Not stated
Presto 07061 Slide-out drip tray Heat control detaches Fully immersible Not stated
Presto Tilt ’n Drain Tilts; slide-out drip tray Heat control removes Fully immersible Not stated
Presto 07062 Not stated Heat control removes Fully immersible Not stated
Gourmia Pull-out drip tray Not stated Not stated Not stated
Martha Stewart Drip tray Probe detaches (one bullet) Griddle and drip tray dishwasher safe Not stated
BLACK+DECKER Removable drip tray Removable probe Not stated Slide-out warming tray
bella XL 12 x 22 Not stated Removable probe Warming tray only Electric warming tray
GreenPan Not stated Probe (cleaning bullet) Dishwasher without probe; hand wash recommended Removable warming drawer
bella 10 x 20 Not stated Removable probe Not stated Named in title only

Six name a drip tray; one names a channel too. Amazon Basics, two of the three Prestos, Gourmia, Martha Stewart and BLACK+DECKER name a drip tray. Amazon Basics alone adds “Deep channels” that steer grease into it. The Tilt ’n Drain adds a tilt that runs fat downhill to its tray, and is the only one that lets you level the plate again for batter.

Removable controls are near-universal; the reason is washing. Nine listings describe a control that comes off, or imply it. That is what lets a griddle be immersed or put in a dishwasher. The Prestos immerse the whole cast base. Amazon Basics lifts the plate off. Martha Stewart and GreenPan put the griddle in the dishwasher once the probe is out, though GreenPan recommends hand washing. Never immerse a griddle with its control or probe still attached; every listing that mentions washing says to remove it first.

Four keep the first batch warm. bella XL, GreenPan and BLACK+DECKER describe a warming tray or drawer, and the bella 10 by 20 names one in its title. For a family size electric griddle that has to feed six or eight, a place to hold the first round is worth as much as another few square inches of plate. Only BLACK+DECKER pairs it with a drip tray.

Pancakes, bacon and scrambled eggs on a plate
Bacon and batter on one plate: six listings name a drip tray, and one tilts to drain.

Coating Claims, Word for Word

All ten griddles have a non-stick surface, and nine call it ceramic. What they promise about it varies more than the word suggests. Here is each claim as printed.

Griddle Coating claim as printed
Presto 07061 “PFAS-free ceramic coating with a textured surface”
Presto Tilt ’n Drain “Ceramic nonstick cooking surface—PFAS free”
Presto 07062 “Special textured ceramic cooking surface provides enhanced nonstick performance and easier cleaning”
bella XL 12 x 22 “EverGood Non-Toxic* Ceramic Nonstick Coating”; “*‘Non-toxic’ refers to ceramic coating materials made without PFAS, PTFE, PFOA, lead or cadmium”
bella 10 x 20 Same EverGood claim and footnote
Martha Stewart “PFAS-FREE CERAMIC NONSTICK”
GreenPan “PFAS-free* ceramic nonstick”; “*Nonstick coating is made without intentionally added PFAS”
Amazon Basics “ceramic coating helps ensure effortless food release”
Gourmia “Ceramic, flat top non-stick surface”
BLACK+DECKER “durable non-stick cooking surface”

Six make a PFAS claim, in four forms. Presto 07061, Presto Tilt ’n Drain and Martha Stewart say PFAS-free flatly. The two bellas fold PFAS into a footnoted “non-toxic” that also lists PTFE, PFOA, lead and cadmium, the longest list here. GreenPan says PFAS-free and then footnotes it as “made without intentionally added PFAS”, a narrower wording. Presto 07062, Amazon Basics and Gourmia say ceramic and make no PFAS statement. BLACK+DECKER does not say what the coating is.

For pancakes, the coating is about release and temperature. A good non-stick surface lets you use little or no fat, which gives the even, pale-gold face many cooks want. None of these ten listings says metal utensils are safe, so a nylon or silicone turner is the sensible choice. Our spatula for griddle guide covers which shapes suit a flat plate.

Popularity Follows the Brand, Not the Scale

Star ratings were not captured for this roundup, so the only popularity measure is Amazon’s Best Sellers Rank as returned on 5 October 2026. Ranks move constantly. Nine of these ten are ranked in Electric Griddles; the Tilt ’n Drain is ranked in Griddles.

Griddle Overall rank Category rank Range stated
Presto 07061 #2,541 #3 in Electric Griddles No
bella XL 12 x 22 #2,685 #4 in Electric Griddles No
Amazon Basics #2,873 #5 in Electric Griddles 200–400°F
bella 10 x 20 #5,517 #8 in Electric Griddles No
GreenPan #5,992 #27 in Electric Griddles No
Presto 07062 #6,750 #9 in Electric Griddles No
Presto Tilt ’n Drain #7,596 #12 in Griddles No
Martha Stewart #7,682 #10 in Electric Griddles No
Gourmia #20,026 #19 in Electric Griddles 200–400°F
BLACK+DECKER #25,373 #25 in Electric Griddles No

The best seller states no scale; one of the two that do is near the bottom. Presto 07061 leads the page and prints no temperature figures. Amazon Basics, third, is the only top-four griddle with a stated range. Gourmia, the only XL with one, is ninth. Whatever is driving these sales, a printed temperature scale is not obviously it. Every one of these ten is a well-established seller in its category, so the gaps matter less than the order.

What Each Step Up Actually Buys

The 10 x 20 plates — Amazon Basics, bella 10 x 20. 200 square inches each, by our arithmetic, and the two most informative small listings in different ways. Amazon Basics buys a stated 200–400°F range, grease channels and a dishwasher-safe lift-off plate. The bella buys a stated 1500 watts, a stated 6-pancake batch and a warming tray named in its title. Neither claims even heat.

The middle plate — GreenPan 10.5 x 20. Ten more square inches, a balanced-heating claim and a removable warming drawer, with a single knob and no figures. The step buys the drawer more than the extra surface.

The 12 x 22 plates — bella XL, Martha Stewart. 264 square inches, 32% more than the 10 x 20s by our arithmetic. The bella XL buys a stated 8-pancake batch and an electric warming tray; the Martha Stewart buys an even-heating claim and a dishwasher-safe griddle. Neither states a range.

The 22-inch cast and slim plates — Presto 07061, Presto 07062, Gourmia. Length stated, width not. The 07061 buys the best rank, an even-heat claim, a drip tray, an immersible base and a warranty; the 07062 the same casting with less stated; the Gourmia a printed 200 to 400 degree range and a slim handle-free body.

The specialists — Presto Tilt ’n Drain, BLACK+DECKER. The Tilt ’n Drain buys a plate that sits level for pancakes and tilts for bacon. BLACK+DECKER buys a warming tray and drip tray together with a stated 1500 watts, on a surface it never measures.

A stack of pancakes topped with a strawberry
bella states 8 pancakes on 12 by 22 inches; four griddles here can hold the first batch warm.

What to Check Before You Buy

Look for a Printed Temperature Range

Two listings of ten print one: Amazon Basics and Gourmia, both 200 to 400°F. That confirms the pancake band of about 350 to 375°F is on the scale. For the other eight, the dial may well be marked, but you will only find out from the box or the manual. If a number matters to you, buy a listing that prints it, or ask the seller.

Treat Even-Heat Claims as Claims

Three listings claim even heat: Presto 07061, Martha Stewart and GreenPan. None gives a measured spread. A cast aluminium plate or an embedded element is a reasonable basis for the claim; a coating is not. Whichever you buy, make a test row of small pancakes across the whole plate on the first morning and note which end browns first.

Match the Plate to Your Batch

bella states 8 pancakes on its 12 by 22 inch plate and 6 on its 10 by 20. For a family of four eating three each, that is two rounds on the XL and two on the smaller plate. Three listings give only a 22-inch length; length tells you a row, not how many rows. Measure your counter too: the overall outlines run to over two feet long.

Decide How You Will Clean It

The Prestos immerse the whole base once the control is out. Amazon Basics lifts its plate into the dishwasher. Martha Stewart puts the griddle in the dishwasher once the probe is out; GreenPan allows it but recommends hand washing. Gourmia, BLACK+DECKER and the 10 by 20 bella do not say. Always remove the probe or control before water goes near the griddle.

Check for a Drip Tray if Bacon Shares the Plate

Six listings name a drip tray, and Amazon Basics adds grease channels. The Tilt ’n Drain tilts fat into its tray and then levels for batter. The bellas, GreenPan and Presto 07062 name none. For pancakes alone it hardly matters; for a full breakfast it decides whether the batter lands in bacon fat.

Want a Warming Tray? Count Four

bella XL (electric), GreenPan (drawer), BLACK+DECKER (slide-out) and the bella 10 by 20 (named in its title) offer somewhere to hold the first batch. None gives a holding temperature. If you feed a crowd in rounds, this is the feature that keeps the first pancakes soft.

Read the Coating Claim, Including the Footnote

Six listings make a PFAS claim, in four forms; GreenPan’s footnote narrows its claim to “made without intentionally added PFAS”, and bella’s widens its to PTFE, PFOA, lead and cadmium. Three say ceramic with no PFAS statement, and BLACK+DECKER says only non-stick. If the coating matters to you, buy the listing whose exact words you are comfortable with.

Common Mistakes

  • Assuming every dial shows degrees. Eight of ten listings describe a control without printing a single temperature figure.
  • Setting the dial to the middle for pancakes. On the two stated 200–400°F scales, 375°F sits 87.5% of the way up, by our arithmetic.
  • Reading a 22-inch figure as a full size. Three listings give only a length; width, and so the number of pancake rows, is not stated.
  • Borrowing one listing’s pancake count for another. Only the bellas state counts, 8 and 6; Martha Stewart’s same-size plate says only “multiple”.
  • Trusting a coating for even heat. GreenPan attaches “balanced heating” to its coating; evenness comes from the plate and element.
  • Immersing the griddle with the probe in. Every listing that mentions washing says to remove the control or probe first.
  • Buying XL without a warming tray for a crowd. Only four of ten offer somewhere to hold the first batch.
  • Putting an electric griddle on a hob. Both bella listings call themselves “stovetop”; they are plug-in griddles with their own probe.

Who Should Buy Which

Buy the Amazon Basics 10 x 20 if you want to see 375°F on the published scale. A stated 200–400°F on a removable probe, grease channels into a drip tray, and a lift-off plate that goes in the dishwasher. Accept that it makes no even-heat claim and states no wattage.

Buy the Presto 07061 if you want the best-selling XL electric griddle with an automatic thermostat. Even heat distribution claimed, slide-out drip tray, fully immersible, 1 year limited warranty. Accept that it prints no temperature figures and gives no width.

Buy the bella XL 12 x 22 if you feed a family and want a stated batch. Up to 8 pancakes at once and an electric warming tray. Accept that it names no drip tray, no range and no cleaning method for the griddle itself.

Buy the Gourmia 22-Inch XL if you want a long plate with a printed range. 200 to 400°F stated, pull-out drip tray, slim handle-free body. Accept that the control type, immersion and dishwasher use are not stated.

Buy the Presto Tilt ’n Drain if bacon and pancakes share the plate. Level for batter, tilted for meat, up to 12 slices of French toast, backstop ledge and cool-touch base. Accept that it gives no surface dimensions and is the heaviest here.

Buy the bella 10 x 20 if stated power matters. 1500W on 200 square inches, up to 6 pancakes, and a backstop for flipping. Accept that its warming tray is named only in the title.

Buy the Presto 07062 if you want a 22-inch cast plate that stores and washes easily. Removable handles, fully immersible, 1 year limited warranty. Accept that it names no drip tray and claims no even heat.

Buy the Martha Stewart 12 x 22 XL if you want even heating claimed on a dishwasher-safe XL. Embedded element, griddle and drip tray dishwasher safe. Accept the conflicting probe description and the missing pancake count.

Buy the GreenPan Advanced 10.5 x 20 if you cook in rounds and want a warming drawer. Balanced heating claimed, footnoted PFAS-free ceramic. Accept a single knob with no figures and a hand-wash recommendation.

Buy the BLACK+DECKER 8-Serving if you want a warming tray and a drip tray together. 1500 watts stated, removable Click & Lock probe. Accept that it never gives a cooking surface or a coating type.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best pancake griddle?

For most buyers, the Amazon Basics 10 x 20 Electric Griddle. It is one of only two listings out of ten that print a temperature range, 200 to 400 degrees Fahrenheit, so you can confirm before buying that the pancake band of roughly 350 to 375 degrees is on the scale. It adds a removable probe, deep grease channels into a removable drip tray, and a detachable plate and tray that are both dishwasher safe. It makes no even-heat claim and states no wattage. If you want an XL electric griddle instead, the Presto 07061 has the best rank on the page, claims even heat distribution and holds temperature automatically, but prints no figures. For a family that wants a stated batch size, the bella XL says it cooks up to 8 pancakes at once and adds a warming tray.

What temperature should a griddle be for pancakes?

As general guidance, about 350 to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. At that heat the outside of a pancake sets and browns in roughly two to three minutes a side while the inside cooks through. Lower, and the pancake dries before it colours; higher, and the face scorches while the centre stays raw. Among these ten listings, only the Amazon Basics and the Gourmia print a range, both 200 to 400 degrees, and on both 375 sits near the top of the scale, seven-eighths of the way up by our arithmetic. The other eight describe a dial, knob or probe without figures. Whatever you buy, check the actual surface: drops of water should skitter across it rather than sit or vanish, and a small test pancake should brown evenly in about two minutes.

What is the best XL electric griddle?

It depends which part of XL matters. Five listings here give a 22-inch length. The Presto 07061 holds the best rank on the page, claims even heat distribution from heavy cast aluminum, has a slide-out drip tray, is fully immersible with the control detached and carries a 1 year limited warranty, though it prints no temperature range or width. The Gourmia 22-inch is the only XL listing with a stated range, 200 to 400 degrees, plus a pull-out drip tray. The bella XL and Martha Stewart both give a full 12 by 22 inch surface: the bella states 8 pancakes and adds an electric warming tray, while the Martha Stewart claims rapid, even heating and a dishwasher-safe griddle. On a long plate, an even-heat claim matters more, so weigh the Presto and Martha Stewart if evenness is the priority.

What is the best family size electric griddle?

For a family that eats in rounds, look for three things: a stated batch size, a warming tray and a temperature you can find. The bella XL 12 x 22 states up to 8 pancakes at once and has an electric warming tray, though it prints no range. The bella 10 x 20 states 6 pancakes and 1500 watts, with a warming tray named in its title. BLACK+DECKER sells an 8-serving area with both a warming tray and a removable drip tray, and states 1500 watts, but gives no cooking-surface size. GreenPan offers a 10.5 by 20 inch plate and a removable warming drawer. If knowing the temperature matters more than holding food warm, the Amazon Basics 10 x 20 prints 200 to 400 degrees and cleans easily in the dishwasher.

Why do my pancakes cook unevenly on an electric griddle?

Usually because the plate is not the same temperature everywhere, or because it has not recovered after the last batch. The element sits under or inside the plate, and the far ends of a long griddle can run cooler than the middle. Three listings here claim even heat: the Presto 07061 from heavy cast aluminum, Martha Stewart from an embedded element and GreenPan from its coating, though none gives a measured spread. Cold batter also pulls heat from the plate, and a griddle with more power and a thermostat that holds its setting recovers faster; the Presto Control Master is described as maintaining temperature automatically, and two listings state 1500 watts. To cope, preheat fully, cook a test row across the plate to find any cool zones, and leave a little space between pancakes.

Is an electric griddle or a stovetop griddle better for pancakes?

An electric griddle has its own thermostat, so once set it holds a temperature without you adjusting a burner, and most are larger than a stovetop pan: the plates here run from 10 by 20 inches to 12 by 22. That suits making pancakes for a family in one or two rounds. A stovetop griddle needs no counter space or socket and can be heavier, which helps it hold heat, but its temperature depends on your burners, and a two-burner pan can have a cooler gap in the middle. Our non-stick stovetop griddle and cast iron griddle guides cover that side. For regular family breakfasts, an electric griddle with a stated temperature range and a warming tray is the easier tool; for occasional pancakes in a small kitchen, a stovetop pan may be enough.

Do electric griddles need oil for pancakes?

Not much, if the non-stick coating is in good condition. All ten griddles here have a non-stick surface and nine call it ceramic. Pancakes cooked on a clean, dry non-stick surface tend to brown evenly with a smooth, pale-gold face; a thin wipe of butter or oil gives a lacier, crisper edge. Avoid aerosol cooking sprays on ceramic coatings, because the propellants and lecithin can leave a sticky film that builds up over time, and check your model’s manual for its own guidance. None of these listings says metal utensils are safe, so use a nylon or silicone turner to protect the coating. Six listings make some form of PFAS-free claim; GreenPan footnotes its claim as made without intentionally added PFAS, and the two bellas list PTFE, PFOA, lead and cadmium as well.

How do I clean an electric griddle safely?

Unplug it, let it cool and remove the probe or heat control before any water goes near it. Every listing here that mentions washing says the control has to come off first. After that, the method depends on the design. The three Prestos say they are fully immersible with the heat control removed, so the whole cast base goes in the sink. Amazon Basics has a detachable plate and drip tray that are both dishwasher safe. Martha Stewart says the griddle and drip tray are dishwasher safe once the probe is out. GreenPan allows the dishwasher without the probe but recommends hand washing. The Gourmia, BLACK+DECKER and the bella 10 x 20 listings do not say, so wipe those down and follow the manual. Empty the drip tray after each use, especially after bacon.

Final Verdict

Best OverallAmazon Basics 10 x 20 Electric Griddle

200–400°F stated on a removable probe, grease channels, and a dishwasher-safe plate and drip tray.

Best XL Electric GriddlePresto 07061 22-Inch Electric Ceramic Griddle

The best rank here, an even-heat claim, an automatic thermostat, a drip tray and an immersible base.

Best Family Sizebella XL 12 x 22 Electric Ceramic Griddle

Up to 8 pancakes at once, stated, on a 12 x 22 inch plate with an electric warming tray.

Pancakes want a griddle at about 350 to 375°F, and eight of these ten listings never tell you whether their dial goes there. Amazon Basics and Gourmia print 200 to 400°F. Presto, bella, Martha Stewart, GreenPan and BLACK+DECKER describe controls that are automatic, precise, adjustable or ideal, and give no figures. The dials may be marked; the listings do not say.

Even heat is claimed three times and measured never. Presto 07061 credits heavy cast aluminium, Martha Stewart an embedded element and GreenPan its coating. Power is stated twice, 1500 watts on the bella 10 by 20 and on BLACK+DECKER. Size, at least, is given in full on five listings, and two bellas turn it into pancakes: 8 on 12 by 22 inches and 6 on 10 by 20.

So buy a pancake griddle for what it lets you know. A printed range first, then an even-heat claim on a long plate, a stated batch size for a family, a drip tray if bacon shares the plate, a warming tray if you cook in rounds, and a cleaning method you will actually use. Whatever you buy, a test row of small pancakes across the plate on the first morning will tell you more than any listing.

If you buy one griddle from this page, make it the Amazon Basics 10 x 20: a stated 200–400°F scale with the pancake band on it, a removable probe, grease channels into a drip tray and a plate that goes in the dishwasher. If you need an XL electric griddle, the Presto 07061 is the best seller and claims even heat; if you feed a family in rounds, the bella XL states 8 pancakes and keeps the first batch warm.
