Every kettle on this page is sold as stainless steel. Eight put the word in the title, and all ten describe a steel pot. But a kettle is more than its pot. Water also passes a spout and a filter, and steam condenses on the underside of a lid. Many kettles show the water level through a window in the side. On a lot of kettles those parts are plastic, and the word “stainless” on the box says nothing about them.
So we read the ten listings for one thing: what each says the water actually touches. Six make a plastic-free claim about the water path. Cosori’s 1.7 litre model puts it in the title, “No Plastic Contact with Water”, and then names the parts: “Plastic-free—spout, inner lid, and filter all made of 304 stainless steel.” KEINVE says “No plastic touches your water at any point”. The other Cosoris, the Damsun and the Yoochu say much the same in their own words.
Only three of those six name the lid. The Cosori 1.7L names an inner lid. The Damsun and the Yoochu both say “spout, lid, and interior” are 304 stainless steel. The other three make blanket statements, an “all-metal interior” or “Every surface your water touches”, without listing parts. None of the ten mentions a lid seal or gasket at all.
The other four describe a steel pot and stop there. One COMFEE’ lists a “304 food-grade stainless steel inner pot” and, in the same bullet, a “removable nylon filter” and an “easy-to-view water window”. Nylon is a plastic. The Hamilton Beach also has a water window, and describes “STAINLESS STEEL WITH BPA-FREE INTERIOR”. The second COMFEE’ covers the “inner pot and bottom”. The Amazon Basics says “All water-contact materials are 100% BPA-free”.
That BPA-free wording is the tell. BPA is a chemical used in making some plastics. Steel does not contain it. A promise that the water-contact materials are BPA-free is a promise about plastic, and it does not say which parts are plastic. Six listings here make a BPA claim. All four that make no plastic-free claim use it, and so do the Damsun and the Yoochu, which make both.
And the BPA-free kettles are the ones selling. In Amazon’s Electric Kettles category, the three best-ranked kettles on this page are the Amazon Basics at #4, the COMFEE’ with the nylon filter at #6 and the Hamilton Beach at #10. None of the three claims a plastic-free water path. The best-ranked kettle that does is the Cosori 1.7L, at #11, so the strongest claim on the page sits right behind them.
This guide sorts the ten by how far each listing says the steel goes: named parts first, then blanket claims, then steel pots with plastic named or implied. We also set out the other things buyers ask about, such as double-wall bodies, auto shut-off, boil-dry protection, wattage and capacity, as each listing states them. We quote every no-plastic claim word for word. We never call a kettle non-toxic or safe ourselves. None of the ten uses the word non-toxic, and where “safer” or “harmful chemicals” appear, the words are the seller’s.
Star ratings and review counts were not captured for this roundup; popularity below is Amazon’s Best Sellers Rank only. All ten were captured on 5 October 2026. They rank from #4 to #124 in Electric Kettles; nine also carry an overall rank, from #1,483 to #87,632.

Best Sellers Ranks and specifications are taken from each manufacturer’s Amazon listing as displayed on 5 October 2026 through a United States connection, and may change. The first column paraphrases each listing; the exact words are quoted in the detail cards. “Not stated” means the listing does not say, not that the feature is absent. Nine kettles are 1.7 litres; the Cosori double-wall model is 1.5 litres. Weights in the detail cards are as listed and are not printed for the Yoochu, whose 0.9 pound figure cannot describe a double-wall 1.7 litre steel kettle, or for the KEINVE, which gives none. Ranks are Best Sellers Ranks in Electric Kettles as returned on 5 October 2026; nine also carry an overall rank, and the Amazon Basics returned a category rank only. Seven kettles were sold by Amazon.com at capture; the Damsun, KEINVE and Yoochu by their own stores. Star ratings and review counts were not captured for any product here.

How We Chose These Ten
We researched current listings, compared manufacturer specifications and documentation, and read each listing’s claims about materials line by line, with one question in mind: which parts does the seller say the water touches? We did not carry out hands-on testing, and nothing below is presented as measured performance data. Star ratings and review counts were not captured for this roundup. We used Amazon Best Sellers Rank, buy-box stock and listing specifications instead, and nothing on this page describes or implies how owners have scored these kettles.
- Cordless electric kettles sold as stainless steel — every product here is a plug-in kettle with a steel pot. Glass kettles, plastic-bodied kettles, stovetop kettles and travel kettles were not in the running.
- New units in stock — every buy box here was a new product and in stock on amazon.com on 5 October 2026.
- Water-path claims recorded word for word — for each listing we logged which parts it names (interior, inner pot, spout, lid, inner lid, filter, water level indicator) and the exact phrase it uses. A blanket claim, such as “every surface your water touches”, is recorded as a blanket claim, not as a list of parts.
- Plastic parts recorded only where named — a nylon filter or a water window is logged because the listing says so. We do not guess at the material of a handle, base or lid that a listing does not describe.
- BPA claims kept separate — a BPA-free statement is logged as a BPA-free statement. It is not the same as a plastic-free claim, and we do not treat it as one.
- No safety verdicts of our own — we do not call any kettle non-toxic, safe or safer. Where those words appear, they are quoted from the seller.
- Features as stated — double-wall construction, auto shut-off, boil-dry protection, the thermostat brand, wattage, capacity, boil-time claims and warranty are logged only where the listing gives them. A feature a listing does not mention is marked not stated.
- Popularity from Best Sellers Rank only — ranks are quoted exactly as returned on 5 October 2026. All ten rank in Electric Kettles; the Amazon Basics returned no overall rank.

The Ten Stainless Steel Kettles in Detail
1. Cosori Stainless Steel Electric Kettle, No Plastic Contact with Water, 1.7L, CEK-S152-VUS — Best Overall

The only listing that names the spout, the inner lid and the filter, and then goes on to the water level indicator.
Key Specifications
| What touches water | Spout, inner lid and filter: 304 stainless steel; stainless interior |
|---|---|
| Water level indicator | Internal; “completely plastic-free” |
| Capacity | 1.7L (size field 1.8 Quarts) |
| Power | Not stated |
| Double wall | Not stated |
| Auto shut-off | Strix auto shut-off, stated |
| Boil-dry protection | Not stated |
| BPA claim | None; claims plastic-free instead |
| Listed weight | 2.4 pounds |
| Seller | Amazon.com |
| Best Sellers Rank | #5,662 overall; #11 in Electric Kettles |
Why We Recommend It
This is the most specific water-path claim on the page. The title says “No Plastic Contact with Water”, and the first bullet backs it with parts: “stainless steel interior. Plastic-free—spout, inner lid, and filter all made of 304 stainless steel.” Those are the three places where plastic most often hides in a steel kettle. The spout is where water leaves. The filter sits in the spout to catch scale. The inner lid is the underside that steam and condensation hit on every boil. No other listing here names all three.
It also deals with the water window. Many steel kettles show the level through a clear strip in the side, and on most kettles that strip is plastic with water standing against it. Cosori takes it on directly: “Unlike typical plastic water level indicators, ours is completely plastic-free to prevent plastic odors.” The third bullet describes “Internal water level markings for precise filling”, which reads as markings inside the pot rather than a window. It is the only listing on the page that addresses the level indicator’s material at all.
What it leaves out is the electrical sheet. There is no wattage anywhere on the listing. There is no boil-dry claim, which every other kettle here except the temperature-control Cosori makes in some form. The shut-off is stated, and by brand: “Strix auto shut-off for long-term reliability”. Strix is a long-established maker of kettle controls, and three listings here name it. But a shut-off at the boil and a cut-out when the kettle is switched on empty are separate functions, and the listing only promises the first. If you are prone to switching on an empty kettle, ask Cosori.
It is a single-wall kettle, as far as the listing says. The fourth bullet claims “superior heat retention (compared to Cosori 171 Glass Kettle)”, a comparison with Cosori’s own glass model rather than with other steel kettles. Double-wall construction is not mentioned, so expect the outside of the pot to get hot. The blue LED “turns off when boiling is complete”, a small but useful signal.
What to weigh. It is sold by Amazon.com and ranks #5,662 overall and #11 in Electric Kettles, the best rank of any kettle here that claims a plastic-free water path. The listing gives a 2.4 pound weight and a release date of 16 April 2026, so it is a new model. No warranty is stated. For a buyer whose question is what the water touches, this listing answers it more fully than any other on the page. The gaps are the wattage and boil-dry, not the steel.
Pros
- Spout, inner lid and filter named as 304 stainless steel
- Plastic-free internal water level indicator, stated
- Strix auto shut-off
- Best rank of the plastic-free claims, #11
- Sold by Amazon.com
- Blue LED turns off at the boil
Cons
- Wattage not stated
- Boil-dry protection not stated
- Single wall as far as stated; body likely hot
- No warranty stated
- Heat-retention claim compares with Cosori’s glass kettle only
- New model, released April 2026
Best for: A buyer whose first question is what the water touches, and who wants the spout, lid, filter and level indicator all covered in writing.
2. Yoochu Electric Kettle, Double Wall 1.7L Stainless Steel Cool Touch, 1500W, BPA-Free, EK-170 — Best Value

Spout, lid and interior named as 304 steel, inside a double wall, with every safety feature stated.
Key Specifications
| What touches water | Spout, lid and interior: food-grade 304 stainless steel |
|---|---|
| Water level indicator | Not described |
| Capacity | 1.7L; “8 cups” stated |
| Power | 1500W |
| Double wall | Yes; exterior stays cool, stated |
| Auto shut-off | Powers down when boiling, stated |
| Boil-dry protection | Powers down when dry, stated |
| BPA claim | BPA-Free in title |
| Boil time claim | 1.7L to 212°F in 6 minutes |
| Listed weight | Field not credible for this kettle; treated as not stated |
| Seller | Yoochu Store |
| Best Sellers Rank | #22,305 overall; #38 in Electric Kettles |
Why We Recommend It
This listing names the lid. “Full 304 Stainless Steel Construction: Every water-contact surface – including the spout, lid and interior – is crafted from food-grade 304 stainless steel.” It is one of three listings here that put the lid on the list, with the Cosori 1.7L and the Damsun. It does not mention a filter, and it says nothing about how the water level is shown, so those are the two parts to ask about. The phrase “Every water-contact surface” is meant to cover them, but naming them is the stronger form of the same claim.
It makes the plastic claim and the BPA claim together. The title says “BPA-Free”, and the bullet ends “Enjoy pure-tasting water for baby formula, with no plastic aftertaste or BPA concerns.” If every water-contact surface is steel, the BPA line adds nothing about the water path, since steel has no BPA in it. It may refer to plastic on the outside of the kettle, such as the handle or base. The listing does not say.
The double wall is the practical upgrade. “Cool Touch Kettle for Family Safety: Anti-Scald Design, the double-wall kettle insulation keeps water hot longer while the exterior stays cool.” A single-wall steel kettle conducts heat straight to its outer skin, so the body can get hot enough to burn. A double wall puts a gap between the water and the outside. The listing does not say what the outer wall is made of. The colour field says black, and the title says stainless steel.
The electrical sheet is complete. 1500W, a claim of “1.7L (8 cups) to a full 212°F boil” in six minutes, and a shut-off that “Automatically powers down when boiling or dry”, which covers both the boil and the empty-kettle cases. The capacity line conflicts with the Damsun’s identical sentence, which says “about 7 cups”. By our arithmetic, 1.7 litres is about 7.2 US cups, so the Damsun’s figure is nearer. The “15% less energy than standard kettles” claim comes with no basis on the listing.
Two fields do not add up. The weight field gives 0.9 pounds, which is too light for a double-wall 1.7 litre steel kettle, so we have left it out. The warranty field reads simply “1”, with no unit. Read it as unclear and ask the seller.
What to weigh. It is sold by Yoochu Store and ranks #22,305 overall and #38 in Electric Kettles, the best rank of the three listings that name the lid. Its copy matches the Damsun’s nearly line for line, which we set out below. Among the double-wall kettles it sits at the lower end of the price range, and it states more than most kettles here do.
Pros
- Spout, lid and interior named as 304 steel
- Double wall; cool exterior, stated
- 1500W stated
- Shuts off at the boil and when dry
- Best rank of the three lid-naming listings
- Lower end of the price range
Cons
- Filter and water level indicator not described
- Weight field not credible
- Warranty field reads only “1”
- 8-cup figure conflicts with 1.7L
- Energy-saving claim unexplained
- Third-party seller
Best for: A buyer who wants the lid named as steel and a double wall with boil-dry protection, without paying for presets.
3. Cosori Stainless Steel Electric Kettle with Temperature Control, 1.7L, CEK-S153-VUS — Best Temperature Control

An all-metal interior and adjustable heat in 5°F steps, with no shut-off or boil-dry claim on the page.
Key Specifications
| What touches water | All-metal interior, 304 stainless; “no plastic parts come in contact with the water” |
|---|---|
| Water level indicator | Internal, stated |
| Capacity | 1.7L (size field 1.8 Quarts) |
| Power | 1500W |
| Temperature range | 105°–212°F, ±5°F steps; 5 presets |
| Double wall | Not stated |
| Auto shut-off | Not stated |
| Boil-dry protection | Not stated |
| Listed weight | 3.65 pounds |
| Seller | Amazon.com |
| Best Sellers Rank | #31,045 overall; #51 in Electric Kettles |
Why We Recommend It
The claim is blanket, and firm. “Plastic-Free Design: Made with 304 stainless steel material, the kettle features an all-metal interior while no plastic parts come in contact with the water.” It does not list parts the way its 1.7L sibling does, but “no plastic parts come in contact with the water” covers the spout, lid and filter by definition. If any of them were plastic, the sentence would be false. The level gauge is internal: “The internal water level indicator lets you fill the kettle precisely every time”.
It is the only kettle here with a full temperature dial. “1500W rapid heating with 5 one-touch presets—Boil, Black Tea, Oolong Tea, Green Tea, and Coffee—plus ±5°F adjustable temperature from 105°–212°F.” Green tea and pour-over coffee are usually made below the boil. The 105°F floor goes low enough for warming water for formula, though the listing does not suggest that use. The KEINVE has six presets but gives no figures. For a wider look at kettles chosen for this feature, see our kettle with temperature control guide.
The safety sheet is blank. The listing mentions neither auto shut-off nor boil-dry protection. A temperature-control kettle must cut power when it reaches the set point, or the presets would not work, so some form of switch-off is implied. But implied is not stated, and boil-dry protection is a separate feature. Eight of the other nine kettles here state it. If it matters to you, and on a kettle it should, confirm it with Cosori before buying.
Small conveniences are spelled out. “Switch between °F and °C, and turn alert sounds on or off with a long press.” The lid opens to two angles: “A smaller opening helps prevent splashes and a wide opening makes cleaning and refilling easy.” No keep-warm function is mentioned, which the KEINVE offers for 30 minutes. Double-wall construction is not stated either.
What to weigh. It is sold by Amazon.com and ranks #31,045 overall and #51 in Electric Kettles. At 3.65 pounds listed, it is the heaviest kettle with a stated weight, probably because of the control base. It is also the most expensive kettle on the page by a wide margin. What that buys is the temperature range and presets; the water-path claim is no stronger than on the cheaper 1.7L Cosori, and it is less specific. No warranty is stated.
Pros
- No plastic parts touch the water, stated
- 105–212°F in 5°F steps
- Five one-touch presets
- 1500W stated
- Internal water level indicator
- Sold by Amazon.com
Cons
- Auto shut-off not stated
- Boil-dry protection not stated
- Parts not named individually
- No keep-warm function stated
- Heaviest listed weight, 3.65 lb
- Most expensive kettle here
Best for: A tea or pour-over drinker who wants exact temperatures and an all-metal interior, and will confirm the safety cut-outs with Cosori.
4. Cosori Stainless Steel Electric Kettle, Plastic-Free Interior, Double Wall, 1.5L, Black, CDK-SE151 — Best Double-Wall

Steel inside and out, a seamless inner shell, boil-dry protection and the longest stated warranty, in the smallest pot here.
Key Specifications
| What touches water | “Every surface your water touches”: food-grade 304 stainless steel |
|---|---|
| Water level indicator | Not described |
| Capacity | 1.5L; “6 cups” stated |
| Power | Not stated |
| Double wall | Yes; stainless inner and outer shell |
| Auto shut-off | 30 seconds after a rolling boil |
| Boil-dry protection | Yes, stated |
| Boil time claim | 1.5L to a rolling boil in 3–6 minutes |
| Warranty | 1 year + optional 2-year; lifetime customer service |
| Listed weight | 2.51 pounds |
| Seller | Amazon.com |
| Best Sellers Rank | #36,025 overall; #60 in Electric Kettles |
Why We Recommend It
This listing defines the water path by contact, not by parts. “Every surface your water touches is crafted with food-grade 304 stainless steel instead of glass or plastic. Enjoy pure-tasting water for years to come.” Like the temperature-control Cosori, it does not name the spout, lid or filter, but the sentence covers them. It adds a detail no other listing gives: “The seamless inner shell has no crevices for dirt to get trapped in.” A seamless pot has no welded seam inside for scale to build up along.
It is the only listing that says the outer wall is steel too. “The upgraded double-wall design with stainless steel inner and outer shell keeps water warm longer and makes the surface of the kettle body safe to touch.” Four kettles here are double-walled. The Damsun, KEINVE and Yoochu do not say what their outer wall is made of. The bullet opens “Say goodbye to the traditional single-wall plastic kettle”, which is the comparison this whole page is about.
Its shut-off is the most precisely described. “The kettle automatically shuts off 30 seconds after your water comes to a rolling boil and has boil-dry protection that automatically turns off the kettle when no water is inside.” Both functions are stated, and the 30-second delay means the water reaches a full rolling boil before the switch trips. The boil-time claim is “6 cups / 1.5 liters of water to a rolling boil in 3–6 minutes”. By our arithmetic, 1.5 litres is about 6.3 US cups, so the figure is rounded down slightly.
The trade-offs are size and the missing wattage. At 1.5 litres, it holds 0.2 litres less than the other nine. That is about one mug, by our arithmetic. No wattage is given. The lid has two stops: “Open the lid to 45° using the button to avoid hot water splashing or raise the lid to 80° for easy filling and cleaning”. If you want a still smaller kettle, our small electric kettle roundup covers the size range below this one.
What to weigh. It is sold by Amazon.com and ranks #36,025 overall and #60 in Electric Kettles. The warranty field is the longest on the page: “1 year warranty + optional 2-year warranty, lifetime customer service support”. At 2.51 pounds listed, it is about the same weight as the single-wall Cosori 1.7L. For a household that boils a mug or two at a time and wants steel inside and out, this is the most fully described double-wall kettle here.
Pros
- Every surface the water touches is 304 steel, stated
- Steel inner and outer shell
- Seamless inner shell
- Shut-off and boil-dry both stated
- Longest stated warranty
- Sold by Amazon.com
Cons
- 1.5L, the smallest here
- Wattage not stated
- Parts not named individually
- Water level indicator not described
- #60 in Electric Kettles
- 6-cup figure rounds 1.5L down
Best for: A one- or two-mug household that wants steel inside and out, a cool body and a written warranty.
5. Damsun 1.7L Stainless Steel Electric Kettle, Double Wall, 1500W Rapid Boil, Black, MS-EK817 — Most Fully Stated

Lid named, double wall, 1500W, boil-dry, BPA and a boil time, in copy that matches the Yoochu almost line for line.
Key Specifications
| What touches water | Spout, lid and interior: food-grade 304 stainless steel |
|---|---|
| Water level indicator | Not described |
| Capacity | 1.7L; “about 7 cups” stated |
| Power | 1500W |
| Double wall | Yes; exterior stays cool, stated |
| Auto shut-off | Powers down when boiled, stated |
| Boil-dry protection | Powers down when dry, stated |
| BPA claim | “No BPA” |
| Boil time claim | 1.7L to 212°F in 6 minutes |
| Listed weight | 2.5 pounds |
| Seller | Maison Innovative Technology |
| Best Sellers Rank | #32,933 overall; #55 in Electric Kettles |
Why We Recommend It
The water-path claim names the parts. “100% 304 Stainless Steel – No Plastic Taste. Every surface that touches water — spout, lid, and interior — is food-grade 304 stainless steel.” Spout, lid and interior: the same three as the Yoochu, and the lid is the part most listings skip. There is no mention of a filter or of how the water level is shown, so those are the questions to ask.
It is the most fully stated kettle on the page. It names the lid as steel, has a double wall and states 1500W. Shut-off is stated for both boil and dry, along with a BPA line, a boil time and a listed weight that looks plausible. No other listing gives all of these. “Fast 1500W Boiling – Ready in 6 Minutes. Bring 1.7L (about 7 cups) to a full 212°F boil in just 6 minutes.” “Kettle powers down automatically when boiled or dry.” The seven-cup figure is the more accurate of the two conversions on the page: 1.7 litres is about 7.2 US cups, by our arithmetic.
The double wall is pitched at families. “Cool Touch for Family Safety – No More Burns. Double-wall insulation keeps water hot inside while the exterior stays cool.” As with the Yoochu, the outer wall’s material is not stated. The lid opens at two angles: “45° lid opens without splashing. 80° wide opening makes filling and hand-cleaning effortless.” The listing also claims it “Uses 15% less energy than standard kettles”, with no basis given.
Read it next to the Yoochu and the sentences repeat. Both open with a cool-touch bullet about kids making oatmeal before school and late-night hot chocolate. Both claim 1.7 litres to 212°F in six minutes, the same 15% energy saving, and a 45° and 80° lid. Both name spout, lid and interior as food-grade 304 steel. We cannot tell from the listings whether the two kettles share a factory, a design or only a copywriter. What differs is the brand, the seller, the cup conversion, a plausible weight here against an implausible one there, and the rank.
What to weigh. It is sold by Maison Innovative Technology and ranks #32,933 overall and #55 in Electric Kettles, below the Yoochu at #38. No warranty is stated, where the Yoochu’s field reads only “1”. If you prefer this listing to the Yoochu, the reasons are its usable weight and a capacity line that adds up. On the spec sheets alone, the two are the same kettle.
Pros
- Spout, lid and interior named as 304 steel
- Double wall; cool exterior, stated
- 1500W and a 6-minute boil claim
- Shuts off at the boil and when dry
- Plausible 2.5 lb listed weight
- Capacity and cup figures agree
Cons
- Filter and water level indicator not described
- Outer wall material not stated
- No warranty stated
- Energy-saving claim unexplained
- Third-party seller
- Ranks below its look-alike, the Yoochu
Best for: A buyer who wants every feature stated on one page, double wall and lid included, and does not mind a third-party seller.
6. KEINVE 1.7L Electric Kettle, Touch Screen, No Plastic Interior, Double Wall, KED0003 — Best Keep-Warm

The broadest no-plastic sentence on the page, “at any point”, with six presets and no parts named.
Key Specifications
| What touches water | Stainless steel interior; “No plastic touches your water at any point” |
|---|---|
| Water level indicator | Not described |
| Capacity | 1.7L |
| Power | Not stated |
| Temperature presets | 6 presets; figures not stated |
| Keep warm | Up to 30 minutes |
| Double wall | Yes, stated |
| Auto shut-off and boil-dry | Both stated; STRIX thermostat |
| Boil time claim | 500ml in 3 minutes from room temperature |
| Listed weight | Not stated |
| Seller | KEINVE Kitchen |
| Best Sellers Rank | #87,632 overall; #124 in Electric Kettles |
Why We Recommend It
The claim is the widest on the page. The title says “No Plastic Interior”, and the first bullet goes further: “Built with a stainless steel interior. No plastic touches your water at any point, ensuring safer boiling and better-tasting water every time.” “At any point” is meant to cover the spout, lid, filter and level indicator, though none of them is named. The “safer boiling” is the seller’s phrase, not ours. KEINVE is also one of three listings here that never say 304. It says stainless steel and leaves the grade out.
It is the second kettle here with temperature presets, and the only one that keeps water warm. “Select from 6 temperature presets for tea, coffee, and more. The keep-warm function holds your chosen temperature for up to 30 minutes.” The listing does not give the six temperatures, so you cannot check them against what you brew. The Cosori temperature-control kettle gives a range and step size but no keep-warm. Pick by which one you will use.
The safety features are stated, and branded. “Features a STRIX thermostat with precise temperature control, auto shut-off, and boil-dry protection for reliable, long-lasting use.” It is one of three listings that name Strix, with the Cosori 1.7L and the Amazon Basics. The body is double-walled: “the double-wall construction keeps the water warm and helps prevent accidental burns”. The outer wall’s material is not stated, though the colour field reads “Stainless Steel Original Color”.
Two key figures are missing. No wattage is given, and no weight. The only speed claim is “Heats 500ml of water in just 3 minutes at room temperature”, a smaller test volume than any other kettle here quotes, so it cannot be compared directly with the six-minute claims for 1.7 litres. The listing gives the most detailed descaling instructions on the page: three tablespoons of lemon juice in 500 ml of water, boiled and left for 15 to 30 minutes. Scale builds up on steel just as it does on plastic, so that is useful.
What to weigh. It is sold by KEINVE Kitchen and ranks #87,632 overall and #124 in Electric Kettles, the lowest rank on the page. No warranty is stated. Its claim is the broadest and the least specific. If you buy it, buy it for the keep-warm function and the presets, and ask KEINVE to confirm in writing what the lid and filter are made of.
Pros
- “No plastic touches your water at any point”
- Six presets and 30-minute keep warm
- Double wall, stated
- STRIX control with shut-off and boil-dry
- Touch screen controls
- Clear descaling instructions
Cons
- No parts named
- Steel grade not stated
- Wattage and weight not stated
- Preset temperatures not given
- Lowest rank here, #124
- No warranty stated
Best for: A buyer who wants water held at temperature for half an hour, in a double-wall kettle with a broad no-plastic promise.
7. COMFEE’ Stainless Steel Electric Kettle, 1.7 Liter, 1500W, Auto Shut-Off and Boil-Dry Protection, CKE06L1EBASK — Best Seller

The best-selling kettle here names a steel pot, a nylon filter and a water window in a single bullet.
Key Specifications
| What touches water | 304 food-grade stainless steel inner pot |
|---|---|
| Filter | Removable nylon filter, stated |
| Water level indicator | Easy-to-view water window |
| Capacity | 1.7L (size field 1.8 Quarts) |
| Power | 1500W; concealed heating elements |
| Double wall | Not stated; cool touch handle |
| Auto shut-off and boil-dry | Both stated |
| BPA claim | “BPA-free food grade materials” |
| Boil time claim | 1.7L in 5 to 7 minutes |
| Warranty | 1 year manufacturer warranty |
| Listed weight | 1.95 pounds |
| Seller | Amazon.com |
| Best Sellers Rank | #1,483 overall; #6 in Electric Kettles |
Why We Recommend It
This listing is unusually honest about what is not steel. “Premium Stainless Steel – 304 food-grade stainless steel inner pot and brushed stainless steel housing. BPA-free food grade materials, removable nylon filter for easy cleaning, easy-to-view water window”. That bullet gives you a steel pot and a steel outer housing. It also names a nylon filter, which is a plastic, and a water window, whose material it does not give. Most kettles with those parts simply do not mention them. COMFEE’ puts them in the first bullet.
Read the BPA line in that light. “BPA-free food grade materials” follows straight after the steel. Since steel contains no BPA, the claim has to be about the non-steel parts: the nylon filter, the window, and possibly the lid, which the listing does not describe. The kettle makes no claim that plastic is kept away from the water, and with a nylon filter in the spout, every pour runs through one plastic part.
The electrical sheet is complete. “This 1500W electric kettle has concealed heating elements and can boil up to 1.7 liters of water in 5 to 7 minutes”. A concealed element sits under the steel floor rather than as a coil in the water, which makes the pot easier to clean. The shut-off is stated: “this kettle can automatically shut-off when the water is boiling. Additionally, it has boil-dry protection”. The handle is “Cool touch”, the lid is a pop-up with a release button, and the base swivels 360° on a “UL standard power cord”. The body is not described as double-walled, so expect the brushed housing itself to get hot.
It is the best-selling kettle on the page. It ranks #1,483 overall, the best overall rank here by a wide margin, and #6 in Electric Kettles. The listing gives a one-year manufacturer warranty, a 1.95 pound weight and a release date of 19 March 2023. Shoppers who choose it are choosing a steel pot, a known parent company, Midea, and a complete feature list. They are not choosing a plastic-free water path, and the listing never claims one.
What to weigh. It is sold by Amazon.com. If what you want from a stainless kettle is a steel pot that does not taste of plastic and a full set of safety features, this listing delivers both in writing. If what you want is no plastic in contact with the water at all, the listing tells you plainly that this is not that kettle. The Cosori 1.7L, six places below it in Electric Kettles, is.
Pros
- Best overall rank here, #1,483
- 304 steel inner pot and brushed steel housing
- 1500W with concealed heating elements
- Shut-off and boil-dry both stated
- One-year warranty; sold by Amazon.com
- Names its plastic parts openly
Cons
- Nylon filter in the water path, stated
- Water window; material not stated
- No plastic-free claim
- Lid material not described
- Single wall as far as stated
- BPA line describes the non-steel parts
Best for: A buyer who wants a steel pot with every safety feature stated and does not need the filter and window to be steel.
8. Hamilton Beach 1.7 Liter Electric Tea Kettle, Water Boiler & Heater, 40880 — Best for a Visible Water Level

A stainless kettle with a “BPA-FREE INTERIOR” and a water window, which is to say a steel kettle with some plastic inside.
Key Specifications
| What touches water | “STAINLESS STEEL WITH BPA-FREE INTERIOR” |
|---|---|
| Water level indicator | Easy-to-view water window |
| Filter | Not described |
| Capacity | 1.7L (size field 1.8 Quarts) |
| Power | 1500W |
| Double wall | Not stated |
| Auto shut-off and boil-dry | Automatic shutoff with boil-dry protection |
| BPA claim | BPA-free interior; colour field “BPA Free, Stainless Steel” |
| Warranty | One (1) Year |
| Listed weight | 2.2 pounds |
| Seller | Amazon.com |
| Best Sellers Rank | #4,261 overall; #10 in Electric Kettles |
Why We Recommend It
The material bullet has two halves, and they say different things. “DURABLE STAINLESS STEEL WITH BPA-FREE INTERIOR: Designed for years of reliable, worry-free performance and long-lasting style in every kitchen.” Stainless steel describes the kettle. BPA-free describes the interior. If the interior were all steel, the BPA claim would have nothing to describe. The plainest reading is that some of what touches the water is plastic, and that plastic is BPA-free. The listing does not say which parts.
One of them is almost certainly the window. “With the easy-to-view water window, you’ll always know how much water is in the stainless steel electric kettle or how much water you’ve added when refilling.” The listing does not give the window’s material. A side window shows the water level from outside, so water stands against its inner face. It is the feature the Cosori 1.7L’s listing calls a “typical plastic water level indicator” when explaining why its own is different.
The basics are all stated. “FAST BOILING WITH 1500 WATTS: This electric kettle boils up to 1.7 liters of water faster than a microwave and safer than a stovetop kettle.” The “safer” is the seller’s comparison. “The automatic shutoff feature with boil-dry protection keeps the Hamilton Beach electric kettle from scorching if the water level gets too low.” There is a blue power light on the front and “a simple on/off switch on the back”, an unusual position that some kitchens will find awkward. No boil time is given beyond the microwave comparison.
The title does not say stainless. It reads “Hamilton Beach 1.7 Liter Electric Tea Kettle, Water Boiler & Heater”. The steel appears in the bullets and in the colour field, which reads “BPA Free, Stainless Steel”, putting the BPA claim and the steel side by side once again. It is the only listing here whose spec sheet lists a BPA claim as a colour.
What to weigh. It is sold by Amazon.com, with a one-year warranty and a 2.2 pound listed weight. It ranks #4,261 overall and #10 in Electric Kettles, third-best in the category on this page. As a plain 1500W kettle with a visible water level and both safety cut-outs, it is well documented. As a stainless kettle in the sense this page is about, it makes no plastic-free claim. For more kettles chosen on general merits rather than materials, see our electric kettle roundup.
Pros
- 1500W stated
- Automatic shutoff with boil-dry protection
- Water window shows the level from outside
- One-year warranty
- #10 in Electric Kettles
- Sold by Amazon.com
Cons
- BPA-free interior implies plastic inside
- Water window; material not stated
- No plastic-free claim
- Filter and lid not described
- On/off switch on the back
- Single wall as far as stated
Best for: A buyer who wants a plain, well-documented 1500W kettle with a visible water level and is not trying to avoid plastic in the water path.
9. Comfee 1.7L Stainless Steel Electric Tea Kettle, BPA-Free, Cordless, 1500W, CEKS002 — Best Budget

The lowest-priced kettle here covers the inner pot and bottom in steel and is silent on everything above them.
Key Specifications
| What touches water | 304 food-grade stainless steel inner pot and bottom |
|---|---|
| Lid, spout, filter | Not described |
| Water level indicator | Not described |
| Capacity | 1.7L (size field 1.8 Quarts) |
| Power | 1500W; 120 volts; concealed heating elements |
| Double wall | Not stated; cool-touch handle |
| Auto shut-off | “shuts off when overheating” |
| Boil-dry protection | Yes, stated |
| BPA claim | “BPA-free materials” |
| Warranty | 1 year manufacturer warranty |
| Listed weight | 1.8 pounds |
| Seller | Amazon.com |
| Best Sellers Rank | #12,897 overall; #27 in Electric Kettles |
Why We Recommend It
The steel claim stops at the pot. “PREMIUM STAINLESS STEEL: Features a 304 food-grade stainless steel inner pot and bottom while a wide mouth allows for easy filling and effortless cleaning. BPA-free materials; 120 volts.” The inner pot and the bottom are steel, and the grade is given. The lid, spout, filter and level indicator are not mentioned at all. As on the other BPA-free listings, the BPA line only makes sense if something other than steel is in the kettle. The listing does not say what.
The shut-off is worded oddly. The title promises “Auto Shut-Off and Boil-Dry Protection”. The bullet says “this electric tea kettle can automatically shuts off when overheating. Additionally, boil dry protection turns off the heating element when the kettle is empty.” “When overheating” is not the same as “when the water boils”, which is how its COMFEE’ sibling puts it. The likeliest reading is a translation slip and a normal boil shut-off, given the title. But the bullet as written does not say that, so read the title and the bullet together.
It shares a model number with its sibling, in a different field. This listing’s part number is CEKS002 and its model field reads CEKS001. The other COMFEE’ gives CEKS001 as its part number and CKE06L1EBASK as its model. Both are made by Midea, both are 1500W 1.7 litre kettles with concealed elements, a cool-touch handle, a pop-up lid and a 360° swivel base, and both carry the same cleaning bullet word for word. The differences on paper are the material bullet, which here adds “and bottom” and drops the nylon filter and water window, and the shut-off wording.
The practical details are good. A wide mouth for filling and cleaning by hand. “A cool-touch handle features a simple release button and a pop up lid to protect you from accidental burns.” A one-year manufacturer warranty, and at 1.8 pounds listed, the lightest kettle here with a plausible weight. It was released on 30 July 2020, the earliest of the five release dates given on this page.
What to weigh. It is sold by Amazon.com and is the lowest-priced kettle here. It ranks #12,897 overall and #27 in Electric Kettles. For a steel pot and both safety cut-outs on a tight budget, it is well documented. For the parts this page is about, it tells you nothing, so assume a plastic part somewhere until Comfee says otherwise.
Pros
- Lowest-priced kettle here
- 304 steel inner pot and bottom
- 1500W with concealed heating elements
- Boil-dry protection stated
- Lightest plausible weight, 1.8 lb
- One-year warranty; sold by Amazon.com
Cons
- Lid, spout, filter and level indicator not described
- BPA line implies a plastic part
- Shut-off worded as “when overheating”
- No plastic-free claim
- Model field matches its sibling’s part number
- Single wall as far as stated
Best for: A buyer on a tight budget who wants a steel pot and boil-dry protection, and accepts that the lid and spout are not described.
10. Amazon Basics Electric Stainless Steel Kettle, BPA-Free, 1.7 Liter, 1500W, Black and Silver, F-738BC — Best Category Rank

The best-ranked kettle in the category never says what its interior is made of, only that it is BPA-free.
Key Specifications
| What touches water | “All water-contact materials are 100% BPA-free”; interior material not stated |
|---|---|
| Water level indicator | Water level indicator; type not stated |
| Capacity | 1.7 Liter (size field 1.8 Quarts) |
| Power | 1500W |
| Double wall | Not stated |
| Auto shut-off and boil-dry | Both stated |
| Thermostat | Strix, stated |
| Steel grade | Not stated |
| Listed weight | 2.0 pounds |
| Seller | Amazon.com |
| Best Sellers Rank | No overall rank returned; #4 in Electric Kettles |
Why We Recommend It
This is the vaguest material claim on the page, on the best-ranked kettle in the category. The title says “Electric Stainless Steel Kettle”. The material bullet says “FOOD-GRADE MATERIALS: All water-contact materials are 100% BPA-free, ensuring your hot beverages remain free from harmful chemicals”. It never says that the interior is steel, never gives a grade and never names a part. “Water-contact materials”, plural, suggests more than one material touches the water. “BPA-free” tells you at least one of them is a plastic. “Harmful chemicals” is the seller’s phrase.
The rest of the listing is solid. “Powerful 1500W heating element brings water to a boil quickly”. Both safety features are stated in one bullet: “automatic shut-off function when water reaches boiling point and boil-dry protection that activates when there is insufficient water, ensuring safe operation and preventing damage to the heating element.” The control is named: “Equipped with a high-quality Strix thermostat control system”, one of three Strix kettles here.
It has a level indicator, of an unstated kind. “Carafe features a wide opening for easy filling and cleaning, plus a water level indicator for precise measurements.” The listing does not say whether that is a side window or markings inside. Given the BPA claim on the water-contact materials, it is worth asking. The wide opening is a genuine plus for scrubbing out scale.
It ranks differently from the rest. The API returned no overall Best Sellers Rank for this kettle, only #4 in Electric Kettles. That is the best category rank on the page, two places ahead of the best-selling COMFEE’. The listing gives a weight of about 2.0 pounds and no warranty. The manufacturer field reads “Amazon”.
What to weigh. It is sold by Amazon.com. As a 1500W kettle with a Strix control, shut-off and boil-dry, it is well specified. As a stainless steel kettle in the sense most searchers mean, steel where the water is, the listing does not commit. For a kettle you will use with filtered water to keep scale down, our water filter pitcher guide covers the jug side of the job. And for a no-plastic claim at a similar level of documentation, the Cosori 1.7L is the closer match.
Pros
- #4 in Electric Kettles, best category rank here
- 1500W stated
- Strix thermostat control
- Shut-off and boil-dry both stated
- Wide opening for cleaning
- Sold by Amazon.com
Cons
- Interior material never stated
- Water-contact materials described only as BPA-free
- No steel grade given
- Level indicator type not stated
- No overall rank returned
- No warranty stated
Best for: A buyer who wants a well-specified, Strix-controlled 1500W kettle and is not trying to avoid plastic in the water path.
What Each Listing Says the Water Touches
The table below logs every part of the water path each listing names, in the listing’s own terms. A blank claim is marked “Not described”. “Covered by blanket claim” means the listing makes a statement broad enough to include the part, such as “no plastic parts come in contact with the water”, without naming it.
| Kettle | Pot or interior | Spout | Lid | Filter | Water level |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Cosori 1.7L | 304 stainless | 304 stainless | Inner lid, 304 stainless | 304 stainless | Internal, plastic-free |
| Yoochu | 304 stainless | 304 stainless | 304 stainless | Not described | Not described |
| Damsun | 304 stainless | 304 stainless | 304 stainless | Not described | Not described |
| Cosori Temp Control | All-metal, 304 | Covered by blanket claim | Covered by blanket claim | Covered by blanket claim | Internal |
| Cosori 1.5L | 304 stainless, seamless | Covered by blanket claim | Covered by blanket claim | Covered by blanket claim | Not described |
| KEINVE | Stainless, grade not stated | Covered by blanket claim | Covered by blanket claim | Covered by blanket claim | Not described |
| COMFEE’ CKE06L1EBASK | 304 inner pot | Not described | Not described | Nylon | Water window |
| Hamilton Beach | “BPA-free interior” | Not described | Not described | Not described | Water window |
| Comfee CEKS002 | 304 inner pot and bottom | Not described | Not described | Not described | Not described |
| Amazon Basics | Not stated; “BPA-free” | Not described | Not described | Not described | Indicator, type not stated |
Six listings make a plastic-free claim about the water path. Three name the parts and three make blanket statements. The Cosori 1.7L names the most: spout, inner lid and filter, and a plastic-free level indicator besides. The Yoochu and the Damsun name spout, lid and interior. The temperature-control Cosori, the 1.5L Cosori and the KEINVE each use one sentence to cover everything: “no plastic parts come in contact with the water”, “Every surface your water touches” and “No plastic touches your water at any point”.
A named part is a firmer claim than a blanket one, and both are firmer than silence. A blanket claim is still a claim. If the lid of a kettle sold as having no plastic parts in contact with the water turned out to be plastic underneath, the listing would be wrong. But a named part is easier to check against the kettle in your hand, and it shows that whoever wrote the copy thought about that part. On this page, the lid gets named three times, the filter once as steel and once as nylon, and the level indicator once as plastic-free.
The four steel-pot listings describe the pot and stop. The COMFEE’ CKE06L1EBASK goes further than the rest by naming its nylon filter and its water window. The Hamilton Beach names a window. The Comfee CEKS002 names only the pot and bottom. The Amazon Basics does not even say its interior is steel. None of the four claims that plastic is kept away from the water, and none of them should be read as if it did.
Nobody mentions the seal. A kettle lid usually closes against a gasket or seal, and on many kettles that seal is silicone or rubber. None of the ten listings mentions one, including the three that name the lid as steel. A steel lid can still close on a non-steel seal. If that matters to you, it is the one question none of these listings answers.

BPA-Free Is a Claim About Plastic
BPA, bisphenol A, is a chemical used in making some plastics and resins. Stainless steel does not contain it. So when a stainless kettle’s listing says its interior or its water-contact materials are BPA-free, the statement can only describe parts that are not steel. That makes the BPA claim a useful clue. It is not a warning, and we make no judgement about any of these materials. It simply tells you a listing expects plastic to be part of the conversation.
| Kettle | Plastic-free water-path claim | BPA claim, as worded | Plastic part named | Electric Kettles rank |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Amazon Basics | No | “All water-contact materials are 100% BPA-free” | None named | #4 |
| COMFEE’ CKE06L1EBASK | No | “BPA-free food grade materials” | Nylon filter | #6 |
| Hamilton Beach | No | “BPA-FREE INTERIOR” | None named; water window | #10 |
| Cosori 1.7L | Yes, parts named | None | None; level gauge plastic-free | #11 |
| Comfee CEKS002 | No | “BPA-free materials” | None named | #27 |
| Yoochu | Yes, parts named | “BPA-Free”; “no … BPA concerns” | None | #38 |
| Cosori Temp Control | Yes, blanket | None | None | #51 |
| Damsun | Yes, parts named | “No BPA” | None | #55 |
| Cosori 1.5L | Yes, blanket | None | None | #60 |
| KEINVE | Yes, blanket | None | None | #124 |
Six listings make a BPA claim, and the four with no plastic-free claim all make one. For those four, the BPA line is the only thing the listing tells you about the non-steel parts. The Hamilton Beach applies it to the “INTERIOR”, and the Amazon Basics to “All water-contact materials”. Both phrases put a BPA-free plastic where the water is.
The Damsun and the Yoochu make both claims. They say every water-contact surface is steel and also say no BPA. Read literally, the second claim adds nothing about the water path, because steel has no BPA to be free of. It may refer to the outside of the kettle, or it may just be copy covering every search term. Either way, it does not weaken the steel claim.
None of the four Cosori and KEINVE listings mentions BPA at all. That is consistent. A listing that says no plastic touches the water has no reason to describe the plastic.
And the order of the ranks follows the BPA claims. In Electric Kettles, the three best-ranked kettles here are the three BPA-free kettles with no plastic-free claim: #4, #6 and #10. The best-ranked plastic-free claim is next, at #11. Whatever drives those sales, it is not the water path. The shoppers who care most about it are choosing from the bottom half of this list.
Two Listings, One Set of Sentences
The Damsun and the Yoochu are sold by different stores under different brands. Their bullets match almost word for word. Set side by side, the differences are small, and one of them is a number.
| Field | Damsun MS-EK817 | Yoochu EK-170 |
|---|---|---|
| Cool-touch bullet | Kids, oatmeal, late-night hot chocolate | Kids, oatmeal, late-night hot chocolate |
| Boil claim | 1.7L to 212°F in 6 minutes | 1.7L to 212°F in 6 minutes |
| Cups stated | About 7 | 8 |
| Water path | Spout, lid, interior: food-grade 304 | Spout, lid, interior: food-grade 304 |
| Shut-off | When boiled or dry | When boiling or dry |
| Energy claim | 15% less than standard kettles | 15% less than standard kettles |
| Lid angles | 45° and 80° | 45° and 80° |
| Power | 1500W | 1500W |
| Listed weight | 2.5 lb | 0.9 lb, not credible |
| Warranty | Not stated | Field reads “1” |
| Seller | Maison Innovative Technology | Yoochu Store |
| Electric Kettles rank | #55 | #38 |
We cannot tell from the listings whether these are one kettle under two badges. They may share a factory, a design or only a copywriter. Both also share their 45° and 80° lid angles with the Cosori 1.5L’s listing. What the comparison does show is that the claim to compare is the same on both. If you want spout, lid and interior named as 304 steel in a double-wall 1500W kettle, either listing says so, and you can choose on seller, rank and which spec sheet adds up. On that last point, the Damsun’s cup figure and weight are the believable ones.
The cup figures cannot both be right. 1.7 litres is about 7.2 US cups, by our arithmetic, so “about 7” is close and “8” overstates it. Some kettle makers count a smaller tea cup rather than a US cup, which may explain the eight, but neither listing says so.
Double Wall, Shut-Off and Boil-Dry, as Stated
A stainless kettle buyer usually wants a few more things from the listing: whether the outside gets hot, whether it switches itself off, whether it cuts out when empty, and how fast it is. Here is what each listing commits to.
| Kettle | Double wall | Auto shut-off | Boil-dry | Control named | Power | Capacity |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Cosori 1.7L | Not stated | Yes | Not stated | Strix | Not stated | 1.7L |
| Yoochu | Yes | Yes | Yes | Not named | 1500W | 1.7L |
| Cosori Temp Control | Not stated | Not stated | Not stated | Not named | 1500W | 1.7L |
| Cosori 1.5L | Yes, steel inner and outer | Yes, 30 s after boil | Yes | Not named | Not stated | 1.5L |
| Damsun | Yes | Yes | Yes | Not named | 1500W | 1.7L |
| KEINVE | Yes | Yes | Yes | Strix | Not stated | 1.7L |
| COMFEE’ CKE06L1EBASK | Not stated | Yes | Yes | Not named | 1500W | 1.7L |
| Hamilton Beach | Not stated | Yes | Yes | Not named | 1500W | 1.7L |
| Comfee CEKS002 | Not stated | “When overheating” | Yes | Not named | 1500W | 1.7L |
| Amazon Basics | Not stated | Yes | Yes | Strix | 1500W | 1.7L |
Four kettles have a double wall, and all four make a plastic-free claim. The Cosori 1.5L, the Damsun, the KEINVE and the Yoochu. Only the Cosori says the outer shell is steel. None of the four BPA-free steel-pot kettles mentions a double wall, so on those the brushed outer skin is the pot wall itself, and it will be as hot as the water inside. Two of them say the handle stays cool.
Eight state boil-dry protection; the two newest Cosoris do not. Both Cosori models released in April 2026, the 1.7L and the temperature-control kettle, leave boil-dry off their listings. The temperature-control model leaves off auto shut-off as well. These are the two kettles with the most specific water-path claims after the lid-naming pair. It is the clearest trade-off on the page: the listings that say most about the steel say least about the cut-outs.
Seven state 1500W, and three give no figure. The Cosori 1.7L, the Cosori 1.5L and the KEINVE are silent on power. That is close to the most a standard North American 120-volt socket supplies for a kettle, so the seven 1500W kettles are as fast as a plug-in kettle gets here. The boil-time claims run from 3–6 minutes for the Cosori’s 1.5 litres to 5–7 minutes for the COMFEE’s 1.7 litres, with the Damsun and Yoochu at 6 minutes for 1.7 litres. None says what starting temperature it assumes, except the KEINVE’s 500 ml claim, which gives room temperature.
Nine are 1.7 litres. The Cosori 1.5L is the only exception. Every 1.7 litre listing gives a size field of 1.8 quarts, which matches: 1.7 litres is about 1.8 US quarts, by our arithmetic. If you boil for a family or fill a large teapot, the 1.7 litre kettles hold about one more mug than the 1.5.
Best Alternatives
| Alternative | Why Consider It | Better For | Main Trade-Off |
|---|---|---|---|
| A stovetop stainless kettle; see our tea kettle for gas stove guide | No electronics, no water window, often all-metal inside | Gas hobs and buyers avoiding plastic | Slower; no auto shut-off or boil-dry |
| A gooseneck pour-over kettle; see our pour-over kettle roundup | Narrow spout for a controlled pour | Pour-over coffee and precise tea | Smaller capacity; check the lid and spout materials |
| A small electric kettle; see our small electric kettle roundup | Less water heated per boil | One- or two-mug households | Fewer listings with a plastic-free claim |
| A temperature-control kettle; see our kettle with temperature control guide | Presets below the boil | Green tea, oolong and coffee | Some, like the Cosori here, do not state the cut-outs |
What Each Step Up Actually Buys
The steel-pot kettles — both Comfees, Hamilton Beach, Amazon Basics. These are the lowest-priced kettles here, all 1500W, and all state both shut-off and boil-dry, apart from the CEKS002’s odd “when overheating” wording. They are also the best-ranked. What they do not buy is a plastic-free water path. One names a nylon filter, two have water windows, and all four make a BPA claim that only makes sense if plastic is inside.
The named-parts kettles — Cosori 1.7L, Yoochu, Damsun. At a modest step up from the steel-pot group, and in the Yoochu’s case barely one, you get the parts named. The Cosori 1.7L names spout, inner lid, filter and level indicator, and is sold by Amazon.com, but states neither wattage nor boil-dry. The Yoochu and Damsun name spout, lid and interior and add a double wall, 1500W and both cut-outs, but are sold by third-party stores.
The blanket-claim double walls — Cosori 1.5L, KEINVE. These cost a little more again. The Cosori 1.5L buys a steel outer shell, a seamless inner shell, both cut-outs and the longest stated warranty, in a smaller pot. The KEINVE buys six presets, a 30-minute keep warm and a Strix control, with no wattage, no weight and no named parts.
The temperature-control kettle — Cosori CEK-S153. The top of the range by a wide margin. What it buys is 105° to 212°F in 5°F steps and five presets, on an all-metal interior. What it does not buy is a more specific water-path claim than the cheaper Cosori 1.7L, or any stated shut-off or boil-dry protection.
Price does not track the water path. The most specific no-plastic claim on the page sits on one of the lower-priced kettles, the Cosori 1.7L, and the Yoochu names the lid for about the same. Above that, the extra buys double walls, presets and warranty, not more steel where the water is.

What to Check Before You Buy
Look for Named Parts, Not Just “Stainless”
All ten kettles here are sold as stainless steel, and all ten describe a steel pot. Only three name the lid, one names a steel filter and one addresses the level indicator. If what touches the water is your reason for buying stainless, look for the spout, lid and filter by name. A blanket claim such as “no plastic parts come in contact with the water” is the next best thing.
Read a BPA-Free Claim as a Plastic Claim
Steel contains no BPA. A listing that calls its interior or water-contact materials BPA-free is telling you some of them are not steel. Four listings here make that claim with no plastic-free promise beside it, and they include the three best-ranked kettles in the category.
Check How the Water Level Is Shown
A side window means water standing against a clear panel. Two listings here describe a water window and do not give its material. The Cosori 1.7L describes internal markings and calls its indicator “completely plastic-free”, and the temperature-control Cosori also describes an internal indicator. If the listing does not say, look at the photos for a strip in the side.
Ask About the Lid Seal
None of the ten listings mentions a lid seal or gasket. A steel lid can still close on a silicone or rubber seal, and steam reaches it on every boil. If you want a kettle with no plastic or rubber near the water at all, this is the question to put to the seller, because no listing here answers it.
Confirm Boil-Dry Protection in Writing
Eight listings state it. The two newest Cosori models do not, and the temperature-control model does not state auto shut-off either. Boil-dry protection cuts the power if the kettle is switched on empty, which protects the element and the base. Do not assume it from a brand name.
Decide Whether You Want a Double Wall
A single-wall steel kettle’s body gets as hot as the water. Four kettles here are double-walled and say the outside stays cool; only the Cosori 1.5L says its outer shell is steel. If children or a crowded worktop are part of the picture, a double wall is the feature to pay for.
Check Wattage and Capacity Together
Seven listings give 1500W and three give nothing. Nine hold 1.7 litres and one holds 1.5. A 1500W kettle filled to 1.7 litres is about as fast as plug-in boiling gets on a standard 120-volt socket. Filling only what you need is the quickest way to shorten any boil, and it keeps scale down too.

Common Mistakes
- Reading “stainless” as “no plastic”. All ten have a steel pot; only six claim a plastic-free water path, and only three name the lid.
- Treating BPA-free as plastic-free. BPA-free describes plastic; the three best-ranked kettles here make that claim and no plastic-free one.
- Missing the water window. Two listings describe a side window and give no material; the Cosori 1.7L says its indicator is plastic-free.
- Overlooking the filter. One COMFEE’ names a removable nylon filter in the spout; only the Cosori 1.7L names a steel one.
- Assuming boil-dry protection. Eight state it; the two newest Cosori models, released April 2026, do not.
- Expecting a cool body from a single wall. Only four of ten are double-walled; on the rest the steel skin is the pot wall.
- Comparing boil times across different volumes. The KEINVE quotes 500 ml in 3 minutes; the others quote 1.5 or 1.7 litres.
- Taking a seller’s safety words as a finding. “Safer boiling” and “harmful chemicals” are listing copy; none of the ten uses the word non-toxic.
Who Should Buy Which
Buy the Cosori 1.7L (CEK-S152) if what touches the water is your main question. It names the spout, inner lid and filter as 304 steel and calls its level indicator plastic-free, the most specific claim here. It is sold by Amazon.com and ranks #11 in Electric Kettles. Accept that wattage and boil-dry protection are not stated.
Buy the Yoochu if you want the lid named and a double wall at a modest price. Spout, lid and interior are named as 304 steel, with 1500W and both cut-outs stated. Accept a weight field that cannot be right and a warranty field that reads only “1”.
Buy the Cosori Temperature Control if you brew below the boil. It offers 105° to 212°F in 5°F steps and five presets, and says no plastic parts touch the water. Accept that shut-off and boil-dry are not stated, and that it is the most expensive kettle here.
Buy the Cosori 1.5L if you boil a mug or two and want steel inside and out. It has a steel inner and outer shell, a seamless pot, both cut-outs and the longest warranty. Accept 1.5 litres and no stated wattage.
Buy the Damsun if you want every feature on one spec sheet. Spout, lid and interior are named, with a double wall, 1500W, both cut-outs, a boil time and a believable weight. Accept a third-party seller and copy shared with the Yoochu.
Buy the KEINVE if you want water held warm. It has a 30-minute keep warm, six presets, a double wall and a Strix control, and says no plastic touches the water at any point. Accept that no parts are named and no wattage or weight is given.
Buy the COMFEE’ CKE06L1EBASK if you want the best-selling steel pot and do not mind a nylon filter. It is 1500W, states both cut-outs, carries a one-year warranty and has the best overall rank here. Accept a nylon filter and a water window in the water path, both stated.
Buy the Hamilton Beach if you want to see the water level from outside. It is 1500W, with automatic shutoff and boil-dry protection and a one-year warranty. Accept a BPA-free interior, which implies plastic inside, and a switch on the back.
Buy the Comfee CEKS002 if budget comes first. It is the lowest-priced kettle here, with a 304 steel pot and bottom, 1500W and boil-dry. Accept that the lid, spout and filter are not described.
Buy the Amazon Basics if you want a Strix-controlled 1500W kettle and plastic is not the concern. It has the best category rank here, both cut-outs and a wide opening. Accept that the listing never says the interior is steel.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the best stainless steel electric kettle?
For a buyer who chooses stainless steel to keep plastic away from the water, the Cosori 1.7L, model CEK-S152. Its listing names the spout, inner lid and filter as 304 stainless steel and says the internal water level indicator is completely plastic-free. That is the most specific water-path claim of the ten listings here. It is sold by Amazon.com and ranks #11 in Electric Kettles, the best rank of any kettle with a plastic-free claim. Its gaps are electrical: the listing gives no wattage and does not mention boil-dry protection. If you want a double wall and both safety cut-outs stated, the Yoochu and the Damsun name spout, lid and interior as 304 steel and state 1500W, though both are sold by third-party stores. If you want precise temperatures, the Cosori temperature-control model offers 105 to 212 degrees F.
What is the best non plastic kettle?
No listing here promises a kettle with no plastic anywhere, and none describes its handle, base or lid seal. What six listings do promise is that plastic does not touch the water. The Cosori 1.7L names the most parts: spout, inner lid and filter in 304 stainless steel, plus a plastic-free water level indicator. The Yoochu and the Damsun name spout, lid and interior. The Cosori temperature-control model says no plastic parts come in contact with the water, the Cosori 1.5L says every surface your water touches is 304 steel, and the KEINVE says no plastic touches your water at any point. If no plastic anywhere is the goal, a stovetop stainless kettle with a metal handle avoids the electronics, the window and the base altogether, at the cost of auto shut-off.
What is the best no plastic kettle with a lid that is steel inside?
Three listings here name the lid as stainless steel. The Cosori 1.7L names an inner lid made of 304 stainless steel, along with the spout and filter. The Yoochu and the Damsun both say the spout, lid and interior are food-grade 304 stainless steel. Three more listings make claims broad enough to cover the lid without naming it: the Cosori temperature-control model, the Cosori 1.5L and the KEINVE. The other four do not describe the lid at all. One thing none of the ten mentions is a lid seal or gasket. A steel lid often closes against a silicone or rubber seal, and steam reaches it on every boil. If that matters to you, ask the seller directly, because no listing on this page answers it.
What is the best non toxic electric kettle?
We do not call any product non-toxic, and none of the ten listings here uses the word. What the listings offer instead are specific material claims, and those are worth comparing exactly. Six say plastic does not touch the water, and three of them name the lid. Seven give the steel grade as 304, which is the common food-grade stainless steel. Six make a BPA-free claim, which describes plastic parts rather than steel. Phrases such as safer boiling and free from harmful chemicals appear in some listings; they are the seller’s words, not a finding. If your concern is what touches the water, choose a listing that names the parts, such as the Cosori 1.7L, the Yoochu or the Damsun, and ask the seller about anything the listing leaves out, such as the lid seal.
Does BPA-free mean a kettle has no plastic?
No. BPA, bisphenol A, is a chemical used in making some plastics and resins. A BPA-free claim says a plastic part was made without it, so it is a claim about plastic, not an absence of it. Stainless steel contains no BPA. When a stainless kettle’s listing says its interior or its water-contact materials are BPA-free, it is describing the parts that are not steel. On this page, four listings make a BPA-free claim with no plastic-free promise: the Amazon Basics, both Comfee models and the Hamilton Beach. One of those names a nylon filter, and two describe a water window. The Damsun and Yoochu say BPA-free as well as claiming an all-steel water path, which is consistent but adds nothing about the water path itself.
Is a double-wall stainless steel kettle worth it?
It depends on who uses the kettle. In a single-wall steel kettle, the outer skin is the pot wall, so it gets as hot as the boiling water. A double wall adds a second shell with a gap, so the outside stays cooler and the water stays hot a little longer. Four kettles here are double-walled: the Cosori 1.5L, the Damsun, the KEINVE and the Yoochu. All four also make a plastic-free water-path claim. Only the Cosori 1.5L says its outer shell is stainless steel; the others do not state the outer material. None of the four BPA-free steel-pot kettles mentions a double wall. If children use the kitchen, or the kettle sits on a crowded worktop, the double wall is worth paying for. If not, a single wall with a cool-touch handle does the job.
Do stainless steel electric kettles have auto shut-off and boil-dry protection?
Most do, but check the listing, because two here do not say so. Nine of the ten state some form of auto shut-off. The Cosori temperature-control model is the exception, though a kettle that holds set temperatures must cut power somehow. Eight state boil-dry protection, which switches the kettle off if it is turned on empty. The two that do not are the Cosori 1.7L and the Cosori temperature-control kettle, both released in April 2026. The Comfee CEKS002 says it shuts off when overheating rather than when the water boils, while its title promises auto shut-off. Three listings name the Strix control: the Cosori 1.7L, the Amazon Basics and the KEINVE. If boil-dry protection matters, choose a kettle whose listing states it, or ask the seller before buying.
How do I keep a stainless steel kettle free of scale?
Scale is the chalky mineral layer that hard water leaves on any kettle, steel or plastic. A steel interior makes it easier to see and to scrub, and the Cosori 1.5L’s seamless inner shell has no welded seam for it to collect in. The KEINVE listing gives the most detailed method: mix three tablespoons of lemon juice with 500 ml of water, boil it, leave it for 15 to 30 minutes, then wipe and rinse, and boil once with clean water before use. Both Comfee listings suggest white vinegar, baking soda and a bottle brush. A wide opening helps. The Amazon Basics and the Comfee CEKS002 mention one, and three listings describe a lid that opens to 80 degrees. Filling only the water you need, and using filtered water, both slow the build-up.
Final Verdict
Spout, inner lid and filter named as 304 steel, a plastic-free level indicator, #11 in Electric Kettles, sold by Amazon.com.
Spout, lid and interior named as 304 steel, with a double wall, 1500W, shut-off and boil-dry all stated.
No plastic parts touch the water, as stated, with 105–212°F in 5°F steps; confirm the cut-outs with Cosori.
All ten of these kettles are stainless steel, and only six say where the steel stops. Every listing describes a steel pot. Six claim that no plastic touches the water. Three of those name the lid, one names a steel filter, and one deals with the water level indicator. The other four describe the pot and say nothing about the parts above it. One names a nylon filter, two have water windows, and all four call their materials BPA-free, a claim that only makes sense where plastic is present.
The best-selling kettles are the ones with the weakest claims. In Electric Kettles, the three best-ranked kettles here are the Amazon Basics, the COMFEE’ with the nylon filter and the Hamilton Beach, at #4, #6 and #10. None of them claims a plastic-free water path. The strongest claim on the page, the Cosori 1.7L’s, sits right behind them at #11.
So buy a stainless kettle by its parts list. Look for the spout, lid and filter by name, and accept a blanket no-plastic claim as the next best thing. Read BPA-free as a sign that plastic is present, and check how the water level is shown. Ask about the lid seal, which no listing here mentions. Then check the electrical sheet in writing: auto shut-off, boil-dry protection and wattage. The listings that say most about the steel are not always the ones that say most about the cut-outs.
If you buy one kettle from this page, make it the Cosori 1.7L, model CEK-S152. It names the spout, inner lid and filter as 304 stainless steel, calls its level indicator plastic-free, ranks #11 in Electric Kettles and is sold by Amazon.com. If you want a double wall and boil-dry protection stated as well, the Yoochu names the lid and states both. If you brew green tea or pour-over coffee, the Cosori temperature-control model gives you the dial, once Cosori confirms its cut-outs.
